Commiss.io is an amazing piece of software that benefits both commissioners and the artists who take commissions. If you are a commissioner, tell artists about it. If you are an artist, use it.

I've been struggling through the secretarial process of commissions for over a decade. Trying to keep track of requests, projects, trades, payments, emails, webpages, commissioner profiles, TOS pages, notes, online forms, price sheets and art files. There have been tools available so far that have all been generally "just okay" at managing the work progress. The truth is not many artists take the time to learn managerial skills, even most professional artists don't because it's something you assume other artists do correctly so you copy what they do and their business practices. I know because I did the same for a long while before realizing that this was a mistake and things could be better.

I love to draw, I love to draw for others. I don't love being a secretary. I want to maximize the amount of time I spend drawing and minimize the amount of time I spend running a business.

It's perplexing how it has taken the fandom this long to come up with a solution that "properly" works.
I use "properly" in quotes because Commiss.io is an in progress website that a buddy of mine (Nanuk) is working on and I'm helping along. And while it properly works for me....

We want more input in order to make a better website that properly works for everyone. At the moment we can really only cover the basics of the commission process and we really want to hear your input on how you work and how to better the experience.

We would really appreciate your help on this project.

Best FC ever? Best FC ever!

Too many unmentionables though...BLFC party went great! Feels good to hear people cheer for it at closing ceremonies.

Now we just have to do a good job.

Soooo, I'll probably be in suit the whole time, but if anybody wants to chill for a bit, that's cool.
Noooo commissions, I have enough work to do already. I will only do trades for dinners and/or drinks :p (though, you gotta have a sketchbook on you).

I really don't use a journal as much as I should and a few friends have recommend that I do, if mainly to not have to repeat to people the same story everytime I go on IM X3. So...here we go :o


Computer/Office stuff

So for about a year now I've been fighting random shut downs from the computer (one of the main reasons why I stopped streaming actually). Finally found the reason, the video card just didn't know when to stop outputting frames and would constantly overheat, of course, since the shut downs were random, we thought it was a whole slew of things (specially since, we originally expected it was the video card and we got a replacement). Currently using a borrowed card until my roommate decides to finish making his new computer.

Now that everything is going smoothly, I'll be setting up a streaming schedule at some point once the hallway home improvement work is completed. Sadly that takes priority since it's a high traffic area.

Once the hallway is completed we will finally be able to start on the office, and we really need to fast. The current office set up is just too cramped and really no work can happen here at most times.



Apendicitis

So about two months ago I got apendicitis, ended up in need of hospitalization and surgery. Yup, perfectly fine now and super happy this random act can only happen once.

The biggest issue with this is of course the lack of insurance (ruh roh). While I don't mind paying the cost of the surgery and all that, I still can't wrap my head around how a room for two days costs 10 times more than the surgery itself. In either case, after a bit of a mini panic and depression, I have come to terms with what must be done. Really, not happy spending the amount of money that could have easily send me to school and back, but it's not like I had a choice :p In reality though, I will probably end up having to file for medical bankruptcy. I will of course, try to see what can be done before resorting to that (already looking into government/charity assistance).



PawFur Local Mini-Con Report

PawFur was a small mini convention that was held in Reno, NV (hey! I live there!) and I somewhat was the art lead or something. It was rather interesting to see the ammount of work and effort that must go into making an event like that run smoothly, I can't imagine what it must be like for a full 3-5 day event. It definitively kept me busy for a few weeks.

Probably the highlights of the event ended up being the fursuit bowling and fursuit gokarting. Wish I could have seen it T~T but again, was stuck behind a table the whole day. It is a bit depressing and rewarding having to work while others are having fun |3

Definitively look forward to actually having more than a few weeks to come up with art and such for the event this time around 8D Oh, and we actually had a ninja, what gives!

Well considering the high amount of critique that has been floating about lately, I guess it will be a good time to start putting this in motion.

Starting, late March/early April

Each 'sketch' will cost $10. They will be in pin-up style clean or adult, though I will be picking the posing, plus there will be no background, etc.

Examples will be posted shortly before the starting date.

I will open these up in blocks of 5.
I will be pick and choosing, so as always, not a first come/first server deal.
I will try and open up at different times of day each time to give different groups of people a chance.
