I have been informed that Ronnie James Dio of Black Sabbath, Heaven and Hell, and Rainbow fame died from complications related to his stomach cancer yesterday morning. This is a sad day for heavy metal as one of its founders and truly inspirational forces has just passed. I never had a chance to meet him, but I have had the honor of seeing him live multiple times with Heaven and Hell and I was blown away every single time. Ronnie was my favorite vocalist because to his dedication to the fans and his craft. He will definitely be missed by myself and many other hard rock fans.

After many years of waiting I finally have seen RJD in action... and it was tremendously awesome. I don't understand how someone 65 years old can rock harder than 90% of the all the other front men out there. The dude was climbing up on the risers on the stage, crawling on his belly to shake hands with people below the riser, and of course giving the devil horns in every direction possible. I think everyone in the front row got a hand shake, which is amazingly cool. The band actually pulled off a 2 hour set and there wasn't an incoherent blabbering between each song or any crowd sing alongs because the lead singer blew out their voice. Basically this is how Black Sabbath should be seen.

I would highly recommend checking out Heaven and Hell if you're a fan of Dio or Black Sabbath.

Duders and Dudettes... I just got to see Dark Tranquility from the first row and it was definitely most excellent. I was able to shake hands with Mikael Stanne and Martin Henriksson, though I did not receive any picks or drumsticks. I saw Into Eternity from the same perspective as well... and they kick a whole bunch of ass.

PS The Haunted will never fill the void for At The Gates, I was slightly disappointed in their performance.

I saw Rocky Balboa during my little X-mas hiatus and it was surprisingly decent. I also got a chance to see the new Transformers Trailer and it gave me a level 4 chubby. The movie looks like it is going to be so amazingly violent.
