URGENT;To All Current Commissioners
Posted 8 years agoMaking Some Tough Decisions
First I must apologize for not writing this sooner, I’ve been bedridden with the Flu for the past two days and while I am still sick, I have gotten a bit better .Well at least well enough that I can stand putting this journal together
This is not something I do lightly, but I’m cancelling ALL of my commissions. Every commission on my schedule is cancelled for the foreseeable future.
First; I really don’t need the money. I was taking commissions with the intent on supplementing my goal to get my student loans paid off by a certain date. Just recently however a put 15k into my loans and it turns out I don’t have to make another payment on it for another 6 to 8 years which is something I hadn’t calculated. Now, of course I plan to have it all paid off well before that, but what this means is that I have plenty of time to save up between now and then to pay it off completely without having to pay the monthly fees in the meantime.
I enjoy doing commissions for you guys, but these projects just don’t allow me room to experiment and grow my skills in the way I want to right now. I’m being compensated more than I ever have been in my entire life with my current job, but beyond that, it has helped expose me to how much further along I should be as an artist. I’ve wanted to learn new tools and techniques and begin pushing my skills to the next level. And let’s face it I can’t do that if all my off time is filled with commission work. If I were to continue taking commissions, It would fill all of my free art time for most of next year. I already work a full time job doing art all day. It may sound selfish, but I want all the art I do in my off time to be for my own fulfillment. I feel like if I don’t do this, then I could quickly learn to actually hate doing art. I think that's the main reason I have a tendency to disappear from time to time.
Most Importantly, there have been several personal projects I’ve put on the back burner for a while now mostly because, well, I was doing commissions. Some of these projects I’ve been working on for years, and if I’m going to bring them into fruition it has to be now, or it’s just not going to happen. As much as I like to protest I’m not getting any younger. I think to a certain degree I was using commissions as a crutch. They’re easy. I don’t have to think outside my usual box and I don’t have to learn anything new really. I have been mulling over this decision for the past three months to be honest. That’s why it’s taken me so long to make this announcement. That’s why I specifically asked commissioners not to pay me anything unless it was time.
That being said, I know many of you may be disappointed in this decision and I can understand why. Some have been waiting for months to get a commission from me. But I really think this is the best option for all involved. It will definitely stave off my periodic “Burn out” sessions with my FA art page, and at the end of it, I’ll come out a better artist with even greater – more frequent-art. I don’t know when I’ll ever take commissions again - considering how well I’m doing at my new Job it’s likely not anytime soon- but when/ if I do, I’ll make sure to ask everyone on my previous list first before filling in any slots.
Lastly, to those who donated 30$ or more to my “GO FUND ME” to restore my art gear, I’ll still be doing the “Thank you” art over this holiday break. So no, I haven’t forgotten about you
I know many of you may have questions regarding this new development. Feel free to ask them in the comment section or note me and I’ll answer them as soon as I can… which is probably right away since I’m on a major stay-cation and stuck at home being sick .
SHOWKAIZER COMMISSIONS 2016 rescheduled
Posted 9 years ago Hey guys! It's getting late here, so I'm gonna be short. I've rescheduled the current commission list. All in all , the whole "getting my studio stolen" incident pushed me back about three months =(. That being said: If anyone on this list wants their named removed because of the revised schedule, I will totally understand ,and I won't hold anything against you. Here is the link to the revised schedule for you guys :

Showkaizer Studios Back up!
Posted 9 years agoTo put it simply; WE DID IT! =) Now I know what you all are probably thinking: “The goal wasn’t really reached” , but let me assure you, the donations went very far into taking the sting out of the $3500 I’d need to replace everything. And what’s more, it only took me around $3200 to replace everything that was taken! So the campaign money effectively paid for half of my recovery. That is a big deal. Regardless the bottom line is … I’m back up!! Everything I lost I’ve replaced and my studio is back in working order. Thank you everyone, truly. Thank you so much for your donations.
I wanted to wait until I got everything hooked up and running to make this announcement, so sorry for the lack of updates for a bit. As for commissioners, I'm gonna see about reworking my schedule this weekend , so be on the lookout for that . Fair warning though, the bulk of commissions will probably have to be moved to next year unfortunately =/. I'm gonna use the rest of this month to dish out the thank you art! ^_^. Anyways, I'll have a more detailed accounting later, but for now I look forward to posting again!.
Of Rebuilding and Commissions
Posted 9 years agoHey Guys. Just wanted to update you guys on my status!
So My Go-Fund-Me made a little over 1500 which honestly isn’t bad. It may not have met my goal but it does a LOT to take the edge off of replacing what was stolen from me, which would have cost me around 3500. Basically I have enough to replace everything that was taken, except my Cintiq. I’m going to let the campaign run for a few more weeks while I dish out the thank you art though. Hopefully I can get a little bit more to knock off the price of replacing the Cintiq. I’m planning to end the campaign on Monday the 17th of October. I'm going to start replacing some of the equipment this week though. Hopefully by the end of the week I'll be able to stream again!
At any rate, I should be starting with the "thank you" art later this week. Nothing too extravagant, mind you. Just something to say tanks to all those who put in 30 bucks or more to the campaign. I wanted to do something for everyone but I just wouldn't have the time =( I haven’t done any digital in quite some time so this will be a nice re-greasing of the treads. Again thanks to

As for commissions, I’m currently weighing out whether I’ll continue with them or not since this whole event has got me blown WAY off schedule. I had hoped to have many of them done by the end of the year but it doesn’t look like that is going to happen. At best I’ll reschedule everything, but that means a number of commissions probably won’t be done till next year unfortunately. At worst however, I may just cancel them all together if I feel I’ve held them for too long without starting. I dunno. I’ll send an email or post a journal out to the people who reserved slots to see if you still want to keep the position once all of my equipment is back and a new schedule is posted.

"THANK YOU" ART!
Posted 9 years ago First, I want to thanks everyone who donated to my GoFundMe
(gofund.me/showkaizer) far! The outpouring has been tremendous, far exceeding anything I thought I’d get. There were so many of you who donated up to one hundred dollars, and I can’t begin to describe how flattered I am. If you donated that much, however, I’d like to know who you are so I can thank you more directly.
Just as a sort of update, a good friend of mine
is sending me an Intuos 3 to draw on. It’s not a replacement for my Cintiq 27 HD, of course, but it will help me get the art rolling again in the interim. I’m going to try and sketch out some nice thank you doodles for those who donated 30 or more, and for those who donated 100, I’d like to do a little more if I can !
I managed to scrounge a bit more funds, so I will be donating to this as well as often as I can. Lets keep this train rolling, and thank you all so much!

SHOWKAIZER'S Go.Fund.Me. LIVE

Okay! So I finally crawled out of my pit of despair and worked up the guts to post this! The full story is on the go fund me, so I won’t reiterate here, but basically I need a little help. Any little bit you can donate would be greatly, GREATLY appreciated, and would go directly into making new art for my account! Hell, if even a quarter of the people watching me donated a buck or less, I’d be in good shape. If you guys want, go ahead and leave your FA name or a shout-out on the page If/ when you donate. I can’t thanks everyone, but I’d like to give it a try if I can!.
If you can’t donate, it’s cool. I’d still very much appreciate it if you can spread the word through whatever channels you can! Thank you all so much for being so very supportive of me during this time . It very nearly makes me cry ;_; I’m such a sap…

Break-in / Theft: UPDATE
Posted 9 years agoFirst I wanted to say thanks for all the people wishing me well from my last journal. It may not bring my stuff back , but it does make me feel a little better. It's been about a week since the incident and to be honest I still feel a little bitten by what happened. I keep coming home expecting to start on a new digital painting or something only to be reminded that I no longer have a Cintiq. The other things they stole I can deal with. But I worked so hard and saved up for two years to buy that Cintiq. No matter how much time has passed , that one will cut deep.
It gets a little worse. Seems the insurance company won't cover the losses. The police have been silent, though I kinda expected that much, so I'm pretty much on my own in replacing everything . It's a little over 3500$ worth of equipment. My studio is shot. I can't do anything at home but check my god damned E mail.
My brother contacted me out of the blue to borrow about 300 bucks. I haven't heard from him for at least two years. Sure he buttered me up with friendliness at the beginning but it didn't take long for him to get to the point. I don't mind giving family money if they need it. And I did give him the money , But I just can't help but feel a little bit used .
two days later , my grandmother fell victim to a phone scam. Basically someone called her up at around three in the morning pretending to be me . He told her that I had gotten into a drunk driving accident and was in jail. He manages to convince her to send him a little over two grand to "bail" me out. If he didn't get greedy and ask for 3000 more, he probably would have gotten away with it too. My mom calls me up at 4:30 am to make sure I'm okay and that the guy's story was false. Unfortunately he had already cashed the check by the time the police got involved. I just don't know what to say. Being the responsible one in the family, I'll be sending over the money to her in order to reimburse her. It's the least I can do. She sent that money to that guy thinking it was me and one good deed definitely deserves to be repaid in kind. The money doesn't bother me as much as the anguish she must have gone through thinking I was hurt or in jail. I hope that asshole who called her rots in hell.
It's ..not as bad as it seems. And I'm not even mad or depressed. Sure, I'm not riding that wave of euphoria from before, when I landed this gig and managed to save up thousands since, But life just works like that . These three incidents may be one big blessing in disguise though. It really made me take a step back and re-evaluate my life choices. I won't bother you with the details, this journal is already too long for may tastes. But suffice to say that I'm rethinking a lot of things...
Anyways, I'm planning on opening up a go-fund me this weekend to replace my missing equipment. I don't expect to get much, But if you guys could donate anything you can to it , It would make a big difference. I'd really like to get my studio up and running again . I hate not being able to do art to relieve myself of this stress.
Stay classy guys, and thanks a bunch if you actually read through this sappy crap lol
URGENT: Please Read
Posted 9 years agoMy apartment was broken into . They stole My Cintiq (with the ergo stand), one of my monitors , my printer/scanner, my two headsets, an old scanner that was still in the box, and a mouse. Commissions are on hold until I can replace them, or find some kind of alternative. I know there are many questions but I just can't answer them right now. I just need some air, and I don't feel safe spending the night in this place. I'll get back to everyone once I'm in a better mental state. I apologize for any inconvenience.
SHOWKAIZER COMMISSIONS 2016 Winners!
Posted 9 years agoThe link to the Schedule calendar is HERE!: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/208.....che=1470898211
Let me start by saying sorry for the wait!! This took WAY longer than I expected it to. Sorting through the emails, comparing requests, and putting the PSD together (etc, etc) took forever!
Anyways, I tried to keep things pretty simple; the commissions for 2016 are the ones that made the initial slots for this round. However, since there were so many requests I put the rest as temporary slots for next year. This means that while you didn’t get in for this year, your spot is reserved (should you still want it) for next time I open. If you want to go ahead and take your name off this schedule entirely, just give me an email and I will do so. I just thought I’d give the ones who missed out this round a leg up on next wave
For those who made it for this year, the day your Icon appears on the calendar is the day I will start working on your commission. For those who want to elaborate on their commission description, please do so now.
Day 1 is thumbnails, day two is drawing/sketching, day three is inking, and the rest of the days are coloring and buffer. (With the exception of the commissions with 6 days instead of a full week- for those I do thumbnails and drawings in one day) It doesn’t actually take me a full week to do commissions, but I do have a full time job, and this schedule allows me to work at a more leisurely pace without rushing things.
As stated in my previous journal, you’re free to pay in advance. But I’d rather you hold off till it’s time to start on your commissions, or after we’ve gone over the thumbnails. I will email you with thumbnails the day your commission week begins. (So for those who didn’t leave a description, do so now)
Congrats to the 2016, slot winners, and if you have any other questions regarding your commission, email me at Showmedamoney[at]Studiokemono.net
Thanks a bunch for commissioning me, and I look forward to working with all you guys!
SHOWKAIZER COMMISSIONS CLOSED!
Posted 9 years agoHey guys! just letting you know that the commission deadline is here!. I've gathered all the people who wanted one and scheduled them all out. I actually got more than twice the amount of applications I was expecting, and I didn't want to say no to so many people, so I came up with a compromise that I think you guys will like! I'll be posting the results in my schedule calendar sometime tomorrow evening, so please be on the look out for it.
I won't actually be starting work on the commissions till the 14th, so that should give the first person in line time to let all this sink in, and be prepared for an email =)
Anyways, just giving a heads up! See you guys in today's livestream if you're coming!

SHOWKAIZER--- Pre-Commission Information 2016
Posted 9 years ago-I’M NOT OPEN JUST YET!-
I’m going to open for commissions on the first of August (Monday)
I know Monday is only one and a half days away, but please do not send me any requests as I am a lil’ too busy to process them at the moment.
What You Need to Know
As some of you who follow my streams may know, I’m saving up all my extra cash to dump into some debts I want to pay off. My goal is to pay these debts off by the end of next year. Most of this money is out of my pocket. Originally, I had intended to take commissions, and let that revenue be the bulk of what goes into that pot. However, I don’t want to be so burdened by commissions that I won’t be able to do my own art on the side. So, I’m going to be limiting commissions to a certain number a month till the end of this year. These slots will constitute my “1st wave”
There will be three “waves” in total; one for this year and two for next year with each wave lasting 5 to six months. Naturally, the goal is to reach a certain amount each month, coupled with my personal savings. So far, things are going on schedule.
I will be taking commissions for this “first wave” and this first wave only. Do not send me requests for next year until I prompt you. Not even if you miss out this wave. Sorry! Just trying to keep things tidy in my inbox =)
For this first wave there will be slots for 3 full color commissions a month. So that’s going to be 15 full colored slots for the remainder of the year. I won’t be taking any sketch commissions this wave, but next wave should be a bit more diverse.
Please note: commission slots are first filled on a first come first serve basis. Once I receive fifteen requests I’m filling those slots in the calendar based on the date I received the request. However, if you’re extra generous and want to make me an offer, I’m not against moving you up in the queue. Just keep in mind, once those fifteen slots are full, I won’t be taking on any more, so I can’t take anyone off the queue for you, but I can move you around if you already made the cut. In addition, if you’re that excited and you want to buy up more than one slot, you totally can!
The cost and criteria for each wave will be different. This wave I'm keeping things simple:
For This Wave:
One commission slot: 250$
Criteria: 1 or 2 characters, full color, light to medium background
Again, it’s first come first serve, but if you’re willing to put in more than the base amount to move up the queue, you’re more than welcome to. Think of it as a sort of informal auction in that way.
Once I open up for commissions you’ll have till August 8th to put in a request. I will post a clear calendar in my scraps on the 9th of August containing all commission slots with clearly defined work dates and due dates. If you’re not on this calendar then you didn’t make it this wave. Sorry! But I will open again next year!
Again, -I’M NOT OPEN JUST YET!
I will have further information such as how to pay, when to pay, and commission process in my commission journal once I open up. If you want to discuss any issues with anything here, or anything about this in general, please feel free to post on this journal. Or, if you’re a hard-core showkaizer fan, ask questions in my stream later tonight!
I'll catch you guys later!

Im Back Up and Running!
Posted 9 years agoWell. As the title states I'm back! I have all my stuff from Chicago in my new apartment. And all of it's unscathed! Even stuff I was worried about came back without a scratch and fully functional. Truth be told, I wasn't expecting them to be here till the end of the month, so my commission write-up isn't finished, but I'll be sure to have it written up this weekend =) Thanks for all the well wishes from my last journal guys! Man, I will never take my keyboard for granted again!
CHEESE! =O
I'm writing this from my phone
Posted 9 years agoI'm not good at phone typing so I'll make this quick. I made it down to Decatur Georgia about two weeks ago but I'm still sitting in an empty apartment. The movers haven't gotten my shipment here yet and until that happens I don't have a computer. I'M NOT DISSING OR IGNORING ANYONE. I also don't know when my things will get here. So I may be away a while longer. I will touch base with you guys when I'm finally up and running again and even open up for commissions again. Stay tuned!
Yuge News (Update)
Posted 9 years ago=D
Well, Just as an update; things are really falling into place! Seems I don’t have to move down to Georgia until I’m damn well ready! In fact I’ll be working remotely till then. I don’t care too much for working remotely to be honest so I’m looking to move down by the first of June. Speaking of which, I started my new gig this past Monday! There’s really not much to say yet it’s been all setting me up to work with lots of server and logistics stuff, paperwork, benefits, payroll, you know the deal. But I’m excited to get going!
And what’s more! I found out that an old colleague of mine was living in Atlanta as well, and I got him an interview at the place I’m going! Not only does this mean I’ll have a friend at the workplace, but I get a recruiting bonus as well! Score!
This is just a small plus, but since I got this gig I’ve been sleeping a good 7 to 8 hours every night without waking up. I know that doesn’t seem like much to most people, but for me for the past two years I’ve been cursed with terrible sleep. I had no problem getting to sleep, but usually I’d only stay that way for about 3 or four hours =/
So many things are just falling into place its kinda making me nervous to be honest lol
It feels weird not having to walk to my old Job in the morning, and I’m gonna really miss some of the coworkers I worked with, but I am at least glad that I left without anything unfinished and I left no loose ends. That book has closed nicely and now placed on the shelf.
But enough about that crap right? What about the artz! Well I’ll be drawing again to post starting this weekend but as you can understand I won’t be opening for commissions till I make my move. I think one of the things that made the last batch take so long was the fact that I kept moving around and putting them on hold. But not again! Don’t worry, I know a lot of people have been messaging me about them so I will definitely let you guys know of any updates.
Anyway, that’s all for now, gonna try and do a stream this weekend! Stay tuned!
huge ... YUGE news!
Posted 9 years agoFirst off let me say that Commissions are still closed , so lets get THAT out of the way.
...And they may be closed for at least another month because I am moving to Georgia! =D. For those that are following my stream and Journals this means I got the job that was offered to me a while back. Now I actually considered not taking it, using the offer instead to bargain for a higher salary at my current position, but I started to weigh out the pros and cons and the only thing keeping me in Chicago are my own apprehensions and tinges of self sabotage.
I've been uh.."blessed" with low self esteem for most my life and had managed to convince myself that I was only worth a certain amount artistically. But you know, just getting this offer was enough for me to start breaking out of my shell. Yes I'm more familiar with my current position, and I am friendly with my current coworkers. But when I started to think more into it I'm just comfortable. Safe where I am now,. But all signs point to bigger and better things for me with this new position. I will be making around 25,000$ more , with much more artistic freedom, and a much better, warmer climate. Plus I'll be really close to some long lost relatives whereas in Chicago I'm completely isolated from my family.
Lastly, this is a chance for me to start fresh. To make some better first impression choices. So far it's been very difficult making friends in Chicago. While I'm well acquainted with my coworkers they seem very satisfied to leave it at that; An acquaintance. I never realized how lonely I was until recently. It was a wake-up call.
I still have fears and apprehensions to be honest. Most likely because of the unknown. I'm going someplace new and leaving a place of security. But the benefits outweigh the risks. Not just by a little, but absolutely. If I don't take this opportunity It will be one of only two choices in my life that I thoroughly regret.
Weather I take this job or not is an answered question. I have to at this point. And I want to. But transitioning there is gonna be the trick. They only sent me the official offer letter Friday and it says I have a little less that two weeks before I start. Seriously. I think there might be some error, so I'm going to speak to them on Monday before I sign it. That's just too little time to do the things I need , to wrap up my life here and everything.
What it means for you guys though, is that I may not be posting for a bit. If I can't get the date pushed back to at least the last week of April or first week of may then it's just gonna be balls to the walls on Monday and for the next few weeks after. But even if they do give me the extension, I'll be pretty much away for the rest of the month and the bulk of next month most likely.
So in the end, no I'm NOT gone! I'll try to post more soon, (There are so many characters and gift arts I've been wanting to draw for a while now) but from this point on Most of my attention will be my move from Illinois to Georgia ! =)
Wish me luck!

So in the end, no I'm NOT gone! I'll try to post more soon, (There are so many characters and gift arts I've been wanting to draw for a while now) but from this point on Most of my attention will be my move from Illinois to Georgia ! =)
Wish me luck!
Commissions Closed For A Bit Longer
Posted 9 years agoI know I know, frustrating for some, but I really have no choice. Those of you who have been following my stream know about my year and a half goal, but Life always has its ways of throwing you curve balls. This time it's not bad at all. Just today I received a call from someone representing another company (a competitor to mine) and they offered me a senior position at their company with what can only be described as a "Phat ass paycheck". I'm kinda conflicted to be honest, this thing happening right as soon as I was going to unleash my plans to reach my goal. That , and I'm not entirely sure I'd want to move again after finally getting settled here.
Anyways that's the status for now, and I'll have to wait till after Wednesday to see if they want to make me an official offer or not. so for the time being commissions remain closed. I will however keep you lovelies updated as to whether or not they want me or if I even want to go. It's very tempting with the pay they're offering, but there is something to be said about the relationships I've already forged with the people I know work with. Anyways. I should know for sure either Friday of this week or early Monday next week. Just stay patient a bit longer my friends! ^_^

I look it over, if it meets my restrictions, I send you a quote.
If you agree with the price, you’re on the commission list. Do not pay until we both agree on the price.
Work on the commission will only commence if half or full payment is received. Priority is given to those who pay the full amount up front. For commissions of 60$, or less, payment in full is required for work to begin.

**EXTRA. because of the nature of this account a small transfer fee will be applied to purchases (2.9 % of the final cost + 0.30 ) to cover PayPal fees =/ So don't pay until I give you the final quote please!***
When the payment is received, I’ll send a few thumbnails (for full color commissions only) for you to pick from based on your request. For sketches and line-art commission I finish it in one sitting, and quality is left to my discretion. Reference sheets are exempt from this as well since structurally they’re all the same.
The rest of the payment should be sent when the final thumbnail concept is agreed upon.
When final payment is received, I’ll do a rough line drawing of the full picture. Changes can be made during this stage, but extensive changes will incur an additional charge (this is fair since I provided thumbnails to choose from)
After the approval of the rough line art, I ink, and if requested, color the piece. If the request is full color, the inked version will be sent as a progress report.
Once completed. I will send a high resolution image to your email of the finished piece(s).

LAST BUT NOT LEAST.
I'll keep this open for about a week or so ,so people can see it, and just sort through all the requests, picking which ones I approve of. Once a certain amount is approved (That number is not set as of yet) I will close commissions and announce the ones I've chosen VIA journal. Good luck! And I look forward to the requests!
