Portfolio website with colour work, writing, and updates
General | Posted 9 years agoSooo yep. I've finally gotten around to actually getting this website fully setup in a way that's usable on the viewer's end. I currently have three sections setup - The 'front page' being for journals/updates/general whatever, as well as an art gallery where I'm posting up my colour work and anything else I work on art wise, and a writing section for character profiles, one-offs, writing projects, lore for my fictional worlds, etc.

Printer/scanner died
General | Posted 9 years agoYeeeah.. For those wondering why I stopped posting artwork (Again), that would be because my all-in-one has died in multiple ways. Printing results in these fun streaks of black, and attempting to scan anything results in whatever I scanned having this wonderful blue overtone that I can't seem to correct.
So with that, there /is/ a library in the area but I can't print on my preferred cardstock paper. I'm going to be saving up for a new black and white printer, which should be relatively cheap, and just rely on the library for scanning my work.
In the meantime, I'll be doing some experimenting with color combinations to figure out good tones for these two linearts I have, and for a third asian human character I'm planning on getting a portrait lineart for.

General | Posted 10 years agoSo taking a glance through my galleries, I've noticed there's pretty much two versions of just about everything I've uploaded lately, the first versions are technically more WIPs than completed pieces. I've decided that, to avoid cluttering up my galleries, once I post a shaded version of something the flatwork version is being moved to the scraps folders just to get things clean and uncluttered.

When I was a kid, I grew up on Reading Rainbow and Wishbone, I'm pretty sure they're a big reason why I love reading and am good at it. I'd love to see this project go as far as it can, LeVar's an awesome man for pushing this forward. The more funding they get, the more than can help children and schools with reading programs :D

DMCA Takedown Requests - How to

I've been seeing some people talking about finding other's using their artwork without permission, and not knowing how to/not being able to get it taken down. Instead of messaging each one of these people individually with the same information, I decided I'd just share my experiences with this in a post here.
First off, a DMCA (Digital Millenium Copyright Act) takedown request is a legally signed message sent to the web host or owner notifying them of content infringing your copyright, and requesting it be removed. I'd recommend contacting the website's owner first (Remember to be polite and professional - They may not realise one of their user's is violating copyrights). If the owner doesn't cooperate, then contact the web host/datacenter. - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digita....._Copyright_Act
Now, before you do file a DMCA you need to ask yourself if you actually hold the copyrights to the artwork. The artist who did the work should always have copyright claims, and be able to file a DMCA takedown request. However, if you were the commissioner, or received the artwork as a gift, you may or may not hold the copyright to the image - This depends on the artist's terms of service, and any agreements made while commissioning. If in doubt, contact the author and see if they can send the takedown request.

So let's break down the above. First off, whenever I send any email to anyone that's not personal, I always start with 'Hello,'. That's just a thing I do, isn't necessary at all.
The first sentence basically informs them that copyright infringing content is one their servers, and that permissions was not granted to use this content (I also add that no proper credit was provided)
Next is a series of URLs to the original content (I.e., the artwork as posted on the artist's gallery profile, and your own if you aren't the artist)
Then we have the URLs linking directly to the content hosted on their webservers, and various pages you have found this content appearing on their servers. I.e., a facebook page post.
The final sentence is your legal declaration that the content is not authorized by yourself as the copyright holder (Or by the person you represent, if legally appointed to represent them). It's pretty much legal jargon stating everything is true, and that if they you're lying and they acted on the takedown request, there may be legal action taken against you.
Finally is the signature. For emails, sign with /s/Your Name Here. If it's a written letter, just sign it normally.

Focusing on authoring

I know it's been ages since I posted anything here, but that's hopefully going to change here soon. I've decided to put my focus toward writing this year, and to focus that on a novel I've been wanting to write titled 'Galaxies End: The Zavos Incident', which I've just posted the prologue for in my gallery.
I might be a bit slow about getting things posted for the next week or so due to work, but once things calm down and I have more free time, I'm going to be working on writing, character development, plots, locations, everything I can think of for the Galaxies End universe.
For those of you wondering about my color work, I've completely dropped that for the time being. I might do one in the distant future, but no guarantees.

NaNoWriMo is an annual event that occurs every November, where participants spend the entire month writing a novel, with the goal of reaching 50,000 words by the end of the month.
I'm planning to participate this year, and I already have an idea of what I'm going to be writing.
Now, I'd like some help from you guys with this, because even if I don't reach the 50,000 word goal in time, I still want to write and complete a novel. As I go, I'll be posting my progress on various sites, for the purpose of constructive criticism.
If any of you like to read, I'd like to ask that you keep an eye out, and give me your thoughts and opinions, and maybe a bit of proof reading expertise as I work toward this ^^

A brief recent history of Sierra!
General | Posted 12 years agoWell. I figured because I haven't been doing much beyond these free raffle things, I should go ahead and try posting /something/ regarding myself and what I've been doing. This'll be fun!
So for starters, a few months back I got ahold of a good job, working for the same company my dad works for, which pays about $1100/mo after taxxes. I've also just recently moved back to Washington with a couple friends of mine, whom are now my roommates (
raphial and 
limizuki).
Also! I've been playing a bit of Planetside 2 when I'm not doing work or other things (Like helping Raphial with his car). So for starters, a few months back I got ahold of a good job, working for the same company my dad works for, which pays about $1100/mo after taxxes. I've also just recently moved back to Washington with a couple friends of mine, whom are now my roommates (

limizuki).Also! I've been playing a bit of Planetside 2 when I'm not doing work or other things (Like helping Raphial with his car). This journal entry will mainly be for keeping all of the chapters I upload organized, and have a sort of 'Table of Contents' for everyone to browse through.

After spending her life alone in the Everfree Forest, a young mare discovers other ponies in Ponyville, as well as a plot by the changelings. But will anypony believe the words of someone from the mysterious forest?
