We need a website!
Posted 14 years agoThe primary site for our area, the RenoFurs forum, is getting a bit old and dusty. Now that we're a newer, bigger, more exciting crew we need a new site!
The forum is fun and it's been pretty active, but it is a difficult way to keep everyone updated. Let's face it, if you forget to check a forum for a while, you forget it exists. Additionally, thanks to the awesomeness that is GoDaddy, the forum has been hosted on a private server by someone who no longer lives in the area. Besides, we are more than just Reno furs, are we not? Let's get a site together that represents the whole of Sierra Nevada!
This will have to be a team effort. There have been offers from several furs to help and it's time to get some planning done. One fur has already offered his server as a host, but the size is somewhat limited. This just means before we can commit to accepting his generous offer and start building, there needs to be an idea of what the site should contain. Some suggestions so far have been:
=> User profiles including art, story, journal, etc. submissions
=> Forum for planning and discussion
=> Calendar of events, birthdays, etc.
=> Mailing list or newsletter for updates to infrequent visitors
=> Chat room/box
=> Links to the SNF/RF Youtube and Facebook accounts
=> Address book for quick reference

Let's knock around some ideas, contact other furs in the area, and get some volunteers. I doubt funds can be raised for this. Zombie Crawl and Pre-Party! Saturday, October 29, 2011
Posted 14 years agoLast year's Zombie Crawl was a blast! It's time for take 2! This time, baseprogression is volunteering his place for the pre-crawl party. His apartment is within walking... sorry... crawling distance from downtown Reno. The party will most likely start about 6pm or so. The actual pub crawl starts at 8:00pm, but we'll most likely head out late like we did last year. The party is a rendezvous for the crawlers and a time for those under 21 (or who choose not to drink at the bar crawl) to have fun with the group.
VIP cup specials haven't been announced yet, but last year they charged something like $35 and that included a free fill of beer or shot of specialty drink at 23 bars. Each bar was charging $3-$5 per drink if you didn't have the cup. It was a great deal and purchasing the VIP cup in advance saves lots of time as you won't have to wait in line to buy your crawl drink tickets. The cups can be purchased via PayPal. Duck Race Charity Volunteers
Posted 14 years agoI just received an email from Julie over at the Nevada Humane Society. While the Community Services Manager is out of town, Julie has been helpful in providing info for a near-future event that they need more help with. As some of you may know, the Duck Race and Carnival is going to be on the 28th of this month (next Sunday), and they would LOVE some of us to volunteer.
There are many things they need help with, and we will be working with other volunteer groups to provide work during the several shifts in the different areas.
Available duties include:
Button Painting (helping kids with crafts projects)
Prizes (stock and overseeing prizes)
Face Painting (self-explanatory)
Ring Toss (oversee and organize ring toss game)
Pluck-A-Duck (oversee and organize pluck-a-duck game)
Egg Count (oversee and organize egg count game)
Photo Booth (help customers dress up for photos)
Bounce House (coordinate and supervise bounce castle)
All events have multiple shifts throughout the day: 10:45-1, 1-3, and 3-5. I've been advised that some shifts are filled, but I have no specifics. Julie has assured me that she will attempt to schedule us together if possible.
Anyone willing to help out at this event, please let me know which event and your availability. I'll then send you the appropriate form to fill out. I need all responses in before Friday this week, as Julie will be sending out the FINAL schedules next Monday.

In the words of our doctor dragon, "Tacos are 29 cents each, with a limit of 12 (yes, 12!) per customer. Anyone who wishes to join us, meet at the Del Taco at 3pm, and we'll take over the taco stand."

I propose a contest! Im sure we could come up with a suitable reward. Does any renofur(or others) feel like doing some art for the winner? I could offer a small piece, like a bust shot or something similar.
Another thing is, we want to get all Sierra Nevada furrs and surrounding groups to get involved in this group, to watch and contribute content! For this, I propose ANOTHER CONTEST! ;V WITH MOAR ART PRIZES.
All furs currently watching, make a journal telling others about the SNF group, and you will be entered into a raffle to get some free art by me! (Yashendwirh) Seeing as this group is very young, I will also give a chance to new watchers to come to participate, and make the cutoff date August 25th. I will do a live drawing via Random.org on livestream!
If you make a journal, please link it here in the comments so i know who to enter into the raffle :>
Also, all art done for group contests will be uploaded to the group gallery. its barren right now, so please start submitting content as soon as you get it!
