Empty Journal
Posted 7 years agoOops I forgot these were a thing. I figure I'll leave a short entry here so that old long journal for those old adopts can be moved out of the way.

Straal Mutt Species Information
Posted 10 years agoSpecies Name:
Straalmutt
Physical description:
Straals are long in appearance, with light, wispy manes that generally follows down the length of their backs and around the entirety of their necks. They have matching tufts of hair around their elbows, ankles, ears, and tail. They have very long, retractable claws, which are used predominately for show purposes, as their primary weapon of choice is their teeth. They also have a range of spikes along their heads/necks, tails, and occasionally down their backs, which are used for display as well as courtship. Their spikes and claws are frequently brightly coloured, which is often seen as desirable in mates. Their tongues are serpentine and used to taste the surrounding air and hunt for prey. Their size ranges anywhere from 10 to roughly 20 feet long, and their growth depends largely on the amount of food available in their area.
Biology:
Straals are a subspecies of Fae-dragon. They possess a unique organ within their elongated bodies that gives them the ability to float through the air effortlessly at all times. This organ is called the gas bladder, and is also found in many species of fish. Unlike fish, however, Straals' bladders are filled with a natural gas that is lighter than air, and allows them to essentially fly.
Straals also possess very keen eyesight, and studies have shown signs that they may even be able to see more colours than humans have the ability to see. This has not yet been proven, however, and requires further investigation. Their most powerful sense is their sense of smell, which they use to hunt down their prey.
Diet:
These creatues are not picky. They're known for swallowing just about anything that they can catch or find whole. Anything that their stomachs can't break down is regurgitated, much in the same way as Owl pellets. Their diet depends largely on their location. They are Omnivorous, though they primarily prefer meats.
Behaviour:
Straals can be divided into two groups it comes to behavior. Those who fall into group A are often rambunctious, full of energy, and extraordinarily social. They generally live in groups of 2-6, and communicate through soft hums, yelps, hisses, and chirps. A heavy portion of their time is spent either playing or socially grooming. This type of Straal prefer to live on the edges of cliffs, in tall treetops, etc.
Group B could be considered the 'outcast' Straals. These are much more rare, and often live in complete isolation. Some choose to be this way, or just have a preference for solitude, while others were driven to this lifestyle by exile from their pack. They tend to become highly aggressive and territorial, and will attack any other Straals on sight to defend their domain. Once dominance has been established, they will either tolerate the other Straals or drive them off. They are often larger in size and darker in colour, though this isn't always mandatory. These commonly take to living in cavernous locations, or underground.

Would you be interested in badge commissions from me?
Posted 10 years agoI just opened sketch commissions, but I'm also considering opening badge commissions as well. Of course, these would be much more clean and crisp than the sketches, and with anthrocon coming up I imagine it'd be a good time to give it a shot. I only have a few examples of badges currently, but I take very great pride in drawing other people's characters the way they want them drawn. If you would be interested, it'd be great if you could let me know in the comments of this journal, so I can get an idea of how successful I would be if I opened them.
Thanks, your feedback really means a lot!
