I've gotten a bit behind on commissions, and I do apologize for those who have been waiting. I don't normally take this long to complete commissions.

I recently had one of my snakes pass away rather suddenly, and it took more of a toll on me than I expected it to. Add that to the stress I was already under due to other irl circumstances... it wasn't good.

I've gotten myself into quite a backlog of commissions and art I need to work on... which is honestly new for me.

So...

1 - I am CLOSING MY COMMISSIONS for the time being so I can get caught up. Friends too -- I can't keep adding more to my plate until I get completely caught up.

2 - I will NOT be streaming next week at all. I will be taking that time to catch up on my commission queue.

3 - I will also be taking any future stream commissions via PREORDER.
The general idea I have in mind:
I will open 2-3 slots per stream. 1-2 slots will be PREORDER ONLY, and 1 will remain open for anyone popping into the stream.
If you grab a preorder slot, you will NOT be allowed to snag the open slot as well.

- Suggest characters and vote for them in monthly fan art pieces

Whelp - $15/mo
- First dibs on YCHs
- Access to sketches and WIPs I don't post anywhere else!

Dragon - $25/mo
- 15% discount on all non-sale commissions
- One free fullbody sketch each month
- Access to exclusive YCHs featuring my characters

Elder - $100/mo (limited to 5 slots total)
- Add color to free monthly sketch from previous tier
- Exclusive private art request streams once a month.
-- Art requests are limited to 1 request per stream.

--- Shaded fullbody w/ up to 2 characters, no background (~$150 value)

My commissions are going to remain closed while I catch up with my current queue.

From now on, there will be a limited slot opening per month for public commissions.
Users who become a Patron will be able to bypass the monthly slots and commission me whenever they'd like.
This should hopefully make it so I can manage my time better, as well as slow down the number of commissions I get -- only the people who are long-time supporters of mine will likely become patrons, at least for the time being.

So as some of you know, commissions are my only main source of income.
I want to expand our reptile business, and open my own little shop. But I need a more reliable source of income in order to do so. My fiance doesn't make enough yet.

A traditional job is out of the question, I cannot mentally nor physically handle it anymore. Believe me, I tried before.

At the same time, I also feel I am overworking myself with the number of commissions I get regularly. Don't get me wrong, I love doing work for you guys. But it gets to be too much sometimes!

I'd love to open up a Patreon, but... I'm honestly afraid to because I've never had the best luck with it in the past.
How many of you would be willing to become a patron? What sort of rewards/incentives would encourage you to become one?

My ideas with Patreon:
A. Make commissions entirely Patreon-exclusive (the basic tier for accessing this would probably be like $5/mo) with more specific content as reward incentive for higher tiers
B. Keep commissions open to the general public with limited slot availability to a monthly basis, and have Patreon open for more specific content as reward incentive

(by "specific content" I mean things like fanart, your oc/sona x my oc/sona, certain fetishes/kinks, etc.)

What are your guys' thoughts? Help me out here!

Small rant because I'm honestly pretty upset about it.

I don't usually have issues with my commissioners, and those who have worked with me know that I am a really nice person to work with and am more than accommodating in most cases. I'm very reliable and always give exceptional results.

I had a new commissioner send me a note, asking about my PWYW sale commissions.
Those of you who got one for the sale price, KNOW that I was charging my normal commission fees for extra things such as items, internals, extra characters, etc.
This is also explicitly stated in my PWYW upload description.
None of you had an issue with this. But this person did.

Another thing to note: They offered to pay full price for the commission, so I told them I would just put it down as a regular commission. Why take a PWYW sale slot if you're going to pay full price anyways? That's dumb.
My regular commissions are usually always open. The PWYW sale is a limited time thing.

Anyways, they had asked me to add a prop to their piece, a sword. So I asked for an extra $5 on top of the $30.
They gave me shit about it, and decided not to have the sword added. I bluntly told them not to ask for extra things if they weren't gonna pay extra.
Now I will admit that I don't have a "prop" fee listed on my regular price sheet (I forgot to add it while creating the new sheet), but I DID explain this to them and they chose to ignore it.

They then got pissed at me and decided to cancel the commission, with their reason being "the artist doesn't know what PWYW means"
Yet they didn't read my rules. They didn't listen to anything I explained to them about how my PWYW sale worked. They then proceeded to block me, calling me a "snarky bitch" and acting like I was the bad person.
When all they had to do was politely explain to me why they shouldn't have to pay $5 extra, and I would have likely accommodated them and let them pay just the $30 with prop included. Politeness goes a LONG way with me.

It comes down to this: Don't act entitled to my services. I am under no obligation to follow whatever rules you think I should follow.
Be respectful to me, and I will be respectful to you. I don't take shit from anyone, even if you're a paying customer.
I'm not the cashier at your local grocery store, I don't have to follow any corporate policies about how "the customer is always right." That's how it goes when you manage your own "business".

With the new year, I have updated my price sheet and made some changes with it. My general commissions are still the same price, but other ones have been adjusted a bit.

As for a general update -- $4k later, our plumbing was finally fixed. From what I heard, it seems that the drainage pipe was... crushed.
Our guess is that most likely this happened when they excavated the house that used to sit right behind ours.
Our house insurance would not cover the repairs, just the cleanup. We still need to get the crawlspace cleaned out, as it was flooded with nasty sewer water while we were having the plumbing issues. Except they're wanting us to pay a $1k deductible. For a quoted cleanup of $1200.
No thanks, at that point might just be better to go through the cleanup company themselves and pay the extra $200 lmao

So while commissions aren't as much of an emergency, we are in considerable debt due to having to charge some of the payments to our credit cards.
I would like to continue taking on commissions, and using most of that money to slowly pay off our credit card debt, and likely put some aside for the reptile business as well.
I'm looking into getting the business registered, so that's gonna be a fun adventure. Luckily I have local people who can help out with that!

Otherwise, we had a wonderful New Years, and I'm looking forward to 2021. Got lots of stuff planned with my reptiles, and have already started some pairings with my ball pythons and hognoses. In the springtime I'll also be venturing into breeding my crested geckos!

My (now) fiancé popped the question this morning after he got off of work... of course I said yes!

He and I had been discussing it prior, and decided he’d propose to me on our anniversary... which is today. We already bought our engagement rings, though I’m using a cheap placeholder one since mine had to be resized.

Our plan is to get married next year most likely, again on our anniversary (August 9th) so it stays on that date.

I hope to enjoy many many more years with my soon-to-be husband, XxLivinLifexX <3
