Finding me elsewhere
General | Posted 10 years agoGiven the sudden explosion over the dealings / misdealings regarding FA. I'm posting my dA and Weasyl accounts here if anyone wishes to find me elsewhere.

Not to say I'm completely gone, but I'll probably be posting elsewhere rather here.

Oh the joy's of flu
General | Posted 11 years agoWelp, and after nearly a week of sickness from the flu, it left a sting in the tail.
In the form of an inner ear infection which screws with my balance.. and gives me motion sickness.
Not what i needed right now.

Today was a good day
General | Posted 11 years agoAs I finally, no longer have to worry about loosing my job in 6 months, having just gotten the permanent contract.
It's a HUGE weight off my mind as i can finally focus on saving some money for a LONG overdue holiday, watch out USA, this mutt's coming out for a few weeks this year hopefully.

Happy New year - 2015
General | Posted 11 years agoTo everyone, thanks for sticking by me through thick and thin this year. There's been good times and bad, but I'm still in it and kicking.
Here's to 2015 being a better year, and seeing what happens if it ends up being like BTTF!

Interview with a dragon
General | Posted 11 years agoAnother year older
General | Posted 11 years agoYup, it's that time again when this ol dog ages another year and it's now 32 years.
It's been a good day so far, a few friends joined me to a jaunt down to London at the Imperial War Museum.
And my brother brought back my old teddy bear having restored it with his other half.

Jupiter Rising... has a Dragon
General | Posted 11 years agoJust watched the latest trailer... and I spotted something that's right out of mythology..
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EVZELMRXeYM
And a screen shot if you missed it: https://www.dropbox.com/s/aa2rtbspp.....ragon.PNG?dl=0
Best bit.. he's got 4 limbs AND wings.. and a tail, has one tench coat and trousers and does have some lines!
No signs he spits fire but dammit, that's a pretty good rendition of a dragon

Finally... finally finally found work and this time....
General | Posted 11 years agoIt's permanent.
No more fixed term contracts, no more not knowing what my life's gonna be like in 3/6/12 months... it's finally a case where I'm working full time.
And even better, I'm calling the shots.. what I feel is right, is hopefully gone with, and it's in Electric vehicles ... but high performance.
Not quite what i went to university for.. but when you never look a gift horse in the face.

How many actually read this?
General | Posted 11 years agoAt the moment, I'm just wondering as I have been with SL. Over the last few weeks it just seems that I know a lot of people.. but so very few ask me how I am feeling and take the time to ask.
So how many people actually read this journal?
This isn't anything personal on anyone, just a general feeling I've gotten the past month.

Yet again... another contract ends.
General | Posted 11 years agoAnd not because I've done bad work or anything.
As usual it's the same ol' excuse: "Sorry but we do not have the funds to continue funding you or able to offer you a permanent position"
Suffice it to say, this mutt's having to move home a week after the work ends, stuck living with my parents at 31 years old.
I'm tired of the same old excuses made by people in power and consider people like me disposable. I'm tired of being dropped at a moment's notice, and forced to live my life one paycheck to the next. I went back to university to get a better life, and though I've had some brilliant jobs, I'm now just wanting to settle down and actually have a steady career and not be living out my parent's back pocket.
Thank you to the assholes in power with their billions who can do as they please and fuck hard working people over at a drop of a hat.

Happy New year
General | Posted 12 years agoWell, here's to 2013, it's been a roller coaster of a year, going from being unemployed, going through a number of job interviews and being generally messed around by some companies, and battling with depression to landing a dream job at Caterham Cars working on the SP300R.
To the family members that have since passed on, thank you for the memories and wish you were here to ring in the new year.
There's things I wish I'd done, things I'd not, but moving on towards hopefully things will continue to improve in 2014, and I can start saving to have a long overdue holiday out in the USA and visiting some friends out there.
To everyone, here's to 2014, lets hope it's a good one.

Happy Christmas and Happy 2014
General | Posted 12 years agoBeen a while since I updated this, since the last journal, I've gotten back to work at Caterham Cars working on the SP300R, moved into my own place and generally enjoying life again, though money's still tight (rent near london = crazy)
Living by myself is nice, though hoping things pick up finally that I might be able to fly out next year and visit a few people I've been meaning to do so for years and years and years.
Hoping it all works out in the end for the best
All the best to everyone and here's to 2014

Just found out this morning.
Ok the F&F movie wasn't much for story, but it was always the cars and main stars whom made the series.
Paul has become our generation's version of Steve McQueen, taken too early :(

Sort of online, also Pacific Rim = Just plain awesome
General | Posted 12 years agoWell, first week's over and done with, exhausted but spent all my time in the workshop since they don't have space in the office for the 3 of us new engineers.
However when you're getting to play with race cars and Caterham 7's all day long, it certainly made the week fly by! Enjoying every moment of it even if i did make 2 silly mistakes, mainly due to exhaustion and the ungodly heatwave wave we've had here.
Also, saw Pacific Rim this weekend. Ok it's a CGI fest but who cares when it's big honking robots vs Godzilla sized aliens beating 7 shades of snot out of each other! I was happy.
Next weekend I'll be back fully online and not reliant on my phone as a hot-spot

It finally happened... guess who's going back to work.
General | Posted 12 years agoAfter much deliberation. I'm going back to work, and moving house.
Waiting on details, but suffice it to say, I'm going to work on these cars for the next year at least.
http://www.caterham-spr.com/
I had 2 offers infact, one from Jaguar but which involved being a cad jockey all day on a PC with very little practical work, but was on around $40 an hour...
The Caterham job isn't as great as money, but it's still good, and much much more inline with my tastes and I know I'll be able to do a decent job when you able to just walk through 2 rooms and see those.
I move on Friday so maybe out of contact for a couple of days before I've got a net connection sorted.
Either way, happy as sin!

Le Mans 2013 - RIP Allan Simonsen.
General | Posted 12 years ago12 months ago, I was working the 80th running of the Le Mans 24 hour. Last year there was a very serious crash 3/4 of the way into the race with Antony Davidson tangling with a back marker in his LMP1 Toyota, resulting in both car's flying off the road at the end of the Mulsanne straight. I saw this crash unfold as it unfolded.
He broke his back, but thankfully has made a full recovery.
However this year, very early on one of the GTE Am Aston Martins slipped wide at Tertre Rouge in the tricky wet conditions at the start of the race and span off into the barriers at probably over 150mph.
The driver, Allan Simonsen from Denmark was rushed to the medical centre with serious injuries.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXXqcQYkFGQ&feature=youtu.be
3 hours into the race, it was announced that he did not survive, leaving a wife and a young boy.
Aston Martin has blacked their website in memoriom and the family has asked for the team to continue with their other car.
http://www.astonmartin.com/
This marks the first death at Le Mans since 1986, and to the recent losses of such people like Dan Weldon and Marco Simoncelli.
RIP Allan Simonsen, yet another name and a well known GT racer lost.
