General | Posted 16 years agoWell today marked the start of my final ever semester at school, it's the last semester of the last year of my degree... and it's taken nigh on 27 years of my life to get here.
From this June I'll be hopefully out in the working world (again.. but with more experience and qualifications!) and praying to get a job somewhere, preferably in the motorsports sector... but with the current economic times, a lot of people are still hunting for jobs and there's not the places avaliable without a lot of compitition.
Still I'm hoping things turn up, and I'm putting a majority of my final year grant away for safe keeping and if i need to surrvive for a bit. though i'm hoping i can keep ahold of it for a possible deposit on my own place.
So far though my final year project is going alright, hopefully to have the new designs quoted on Wednesday and produced by March if all goes well along with the rest of the car.
July is the competition in the UK at Silverstone, and August might well see me driving 500 miles across 3 countries to Germany for the FSG event there at Hockenhiem.
Fingers crossed I'll have work for afterwards and there's a few people whom I'm hoping to send christmas cards (and maybe a gift as well... you know who you are ;3 )

High points of the year:
Finishing my placement at SKF sucessfully and starting my final year at university.
Actually getting a decent day at a drift what you brung day at Santa Pod for the first time.
Meeting a few new friends, also getting close to one as of late.
Hopefully getting somewhere with personal issues and leaving old wounds to the past.
Getting int a E30 Touring 325i, before Germany next year, though not in the way i'd have wanted.
Seeing my dad make it through a major operation and looking much better thanks to the work.
Hearing my brother's now engaged this year.
My sister making it (finally) to university.
Bad Points of 2009
Writing off my long term daily, The 320i BMW i'd spent the past 4 or so years tinkering with and working on... will miss that old car :(
Looking at my final year at university, this will be the last christmas i'll have 3 weeks off.
Becoming a victim of fraud twice, once by a major garage chain who can't install a clutch properly ever and then blame the customer for their staffs failings.
Second time was only a few days ago, now a victim of card cloning.
This past decade has seen me progress from college, to an apprentiship, spend 3 or so years working in industry before returning to take my engineering degree.
It's also seen me now driving for most of it, having a few accidents. Gain a number of cars and sold them on and written my first one off. I've also been through one of the roughest points in my life through 2001 to 2006 when i was working in various jobs, also being the subject in one from 2003 to 2006 just before starting university of bullying in the workplace at the hands of a malisous manager who put himself and his company before his staff.
It's also seen me discovering my 'other' side and gain new friends all over the world as i discovered the online community.
With 2010 now approaching, there's a few things to look forward to:
Finishing my degree (hopefully with a 2:1 honors) and hopefully completing UH13 to compete at FSUK and FSG at Silverstone and Hockinhiem in Germany.
Hopefully get a job within the motorsports sector after 10 years of trying to get in.
Consider my future as there's a possible i may considering emigrating to Canada / USA since currently the UK is becoming a 2nd world coundty no thanks to 'New labour' and Brown...
And hopefully and finally move out into a place of my own...hopefully with a special someone.

Feeling pretty rotton at the moment after last night, misunderstanding with a very close someone and I feel absolutely lousy at the moment cause i'm not sure what happened though having chatted to common friends, I'm still a bit of a mental trainwreck for the last day ._.
Stomach's all in a knot though have managed to get something to eat at least.
And got more coursework. The final year project is going ok but got 2 other assignments (one on Datalogging, other on control systems) due in start of december, and another VED chunk to do.
Feeling cold and alone at the moment...

But.. despite getting a tax rebate and a few cheques so far from family i don't feel in a happy mood.
A close friend out stateside was kicked out this morning from their place after several months of petty and vindictive abuse aimed at them by another housemate. Since loosing their job as well, things got progressively worse... and currenly i don't know when i'll see them again.
Not the best way to be celebrating my 27th birthday, finding out a close friend is out in their car probably for a while.... and not knowing when I'll hear from them again ._.

They're at a friends place, HUGE Relief and got 2 places to look at, so feeling much better ^_^

As of Saturday I'm moving back to university, so I'll be out of touch for a few days till Monday or Tuesday depending when we recieve the new modem and Netgear wireless Router from our ISP and get it all set up.
Hopefully I'll be back up and running asap once i've moved down, but once term starts I'll be tied up for most of the year since it's my finals and hoping to do well this year.
Also forgot to mention in 40 days I'll be 27! D:

PC Sold!

My old PC was going spare and
wyla was in need of a PC capable of running SL for cheap, so we struck a deal \o/
After 2 days of nuking the HD and cleaning it up, putting a fresh XP Pro install into it and finding it's got a funky IDE cable ( we think.. keeps freezing on startup)
Anycase, she's now enjoying having a fully functioning machine capable of running SL :D (providing you forget the old TV card in it >.>)

Saw my dad today, it's unerving seeing one of your family with the scar tissue from such an operation... it's a bit distressing..
However he's already sitting up and moving about a bit, amazing when he's only had major surgery bearly 24 hours ago. He's making a speedy recovery and already the signs are that the new valve has done the trick... his BP is down by a full 1/3!
The docs are saying he maybe well enough to come home as early as tuesday next week, just hope to see him home and safe, and hopefully well on the road to recovery.

General | Posted 16 years agoWell... after yesterday's journal about my dad going in for his operation, i got the news today that he's gone in for surgery and come out.
And he's recovering well... but it'll be 2 weeks before he's released from hospital now and another 3 months before he's probably fully recovered from this.
Either way, i'm glad he's ok and will be visiting him tomorrow with my Mum and sister, hopefully my brother will be down in a few weeks to see him once my dad's home.
Still to those people i talk to reguarly, be aware that i might be prone to going afk moreso these coming weeks as I'm the only one in the house who's able to do heavy lifting and whatnot.

Well... he got the call and went in today, he's due to go under tomorrow for it, and though this is a a routine operation, I'm still a bit shaken up to see him do this.
He's one of the strongest will'ed people i know, right to the point of being stubbon at times like his mum.
Either way, I'll be going down this week after the operation to see how he's doing... just hoping it goes well

I've got one final paycheck to come in thankfully which should give me enough to last the summer, but don't think i'll be able to do much. I would really like to head out to the states for a month on a work visa, but can't see that happening since i'm fairly broke at the moment with my MOT due soon.
