Joke of the day!
General | Posted 6 years agoThis is in old Victorian England.
A gentleman is walking behind his wife. He looks at her rear and says, "I say, your bottom looks that of an old broken down washing machine!" The wife of course is a little miffed, but she brushes it off and carries on home with her husband.
Later That evening, the husband is feeling rather randy and wants to have a go at it with his wife. The wife says, "I'm sorry, but the washer has broken down, you'll have to wash the clothes by hand!"

Unprofessionalism in the Workplace
General | Posted 7 years agoI need to vent, so prepare yourselves, this is gonna be a long one.
So the place that I work has an optical department, which I have insurance for. I arrive at my appointment and the guy at the front desk is on the phone, I wait for about five minutes or so. At about that time, a woman in a shopping cart shows up behind me starting a line. A few more minutes passed and honestly, I hadn't even been listening to the conversation or anything, but at the end, I hear him say, "Okay, I love you too." He then finally checks me in and after that, he conversates with the staff, talking about his kids. So since I thought that it might have been one of his kids calling from school or something like that. So when I go back to one of the rooms with one of the staff, I tell them what had occurred and that I didn't want to have to report him, but he can't make personal calls while on company time, we have rules against it. She said she would talk to him. After the exam, I go to look at frames, then the front desk guy tells me he wants to talk to me. We step aside, and he tells me not to go assuming anything, it wasn't his kid, but it was his dad, and he doesn't want to get in trouble over something like that. I said okay and then continued looking at frames until I picked one out and left.
I felt somewhat stupefied to ask them to tell him not to make personal calls, he then tries to justify it by saying it's his dad? Doesn't that still qualify as a personal call? So then, later that night, I start thinking why wouldn't he just do it from his cell phone? Then I tried connecting the dots, I thought to myself, what if it wasn't a personal call, but a business call, and his dad needed an eye appointment. After that, I begin to feel like shit, because I could have gotten someone in trouble over a simple misunderstanding. So I owed an apology to him.
Today, I come into work after completing some errands and I go up to the guy.at the front desk. I tell him that I wanted to apologize to him, it was all a misunderstanding on my part and that I was sorry. Then he tells me it's okay, just don't go assuming. I then asked him if my theory was right, and he said it wasn't. Turns out he was indeed making a personal call to his dad, and he admitted to the fact. He then goes on about minding my own business and that it was HIS family that he didn't want me getting into. I told him I was sorry once more and he just said it's okay.
But you know what I'm thinking, what if it isn't okay? He knows the rules yet thinks he's an exception to it, he has the nerve to confront me about it even though he knows it's wrong and tries to manipulate me, he makes me feel like shit even though I had every right to complain. Even when I try to apologize to him under a false presumption that would have justified his need to make the said personal call, and he just tells me to mind my own business? I don't think so!
Not only did he break company policy, but he violated the retaliation policy, just because I told someone, on two occasions no less. I feel this makes for a hostile work environment and I should report his ass. Right now I'm feeling like a Roman Emperor at an arena and I'm deciding the fate of a gladiator. Question is: Do I give him the thumbs up or thumbs down?
TL;DR Employee in the optical department of the store I work at made a personal call while at the front desk, confronted me afterwards after I told on him, then gets after me after I try to apologize.

The Top Ten Things I Hate About My Job
General | Posted 14 years agoIn all honesty, I do like my job, and I'm grateful to have it, but there are just those little things that I'm sure most of us can agree with that can get you down. So in no particular order, here are the top ten things that piss me off about my job.
1. I hate how people are always trying to see if they can haggle something for a cheaper price than what they would be paying for. Goodwill is a thrift store and a national franchise, not a garage sale, if we did that for someone, then everyone else would want in on it and we wouldn't be making any profit that way. Plus, you're already getting a lot of this stuff for a good deal for what it's worth, especially since most of the stuff already been used.
2. I hate kids and their irresponsible parents, how they come in crying, screaming running around all over the place. Whenever they're in the toy section, they never clean up after themselves and neither do their parents. Guess who has to step in to make sure everything's neat and orderly, and then even more kids come in and everything's all out of place again. Also, kids can be pretty reckless and it doesn't help that the glass aisle is not too far away from the toy section. And the parents, I hate them almost as much as I hate the kids, not just at work, but in general, it's like most parents aren't even thinking when they have their kids and then they have to deal with the harsh reality. The way I see it, kids are just like living, breathing reminders as to why men should wear condoms.
3. I hate when people just leave shit all over the store instead of putting it back in it's original location, it makes us have to run around and do it for them and it is not easy. Plus when you're in the clothing section, you'll find certain pieces in the wrong section, on the floor, and even sprawled over the racks or even have their hangers missing, and we have to search through the racks to find them and get everything organized. And the messes they leave, why just the other day I walk into a dressing room and it was like a murder scene, I had laid my eyes upon this huge pile of jeans and I had to hang them all back up piece by piece, I could not believe how irresponsible some people are, even my room's not that big of a mess, and I'm not a very neat person. People are just so irresponsible, is it too much to ask for a little common courtesy?
4. This is just a little thing, but I hate how people are always trying to lighten the mood by saying some stupid little comment about something and laughing about it. I know I've done it sometimes too, but I just hate how cheesy it is how we use those little comments in order to make ourselves feel comfortable. It doesn't make us feel comfortable, people! It only makes thing even more awkward than they already are. And the only reason we're laughing along with you is just cause we're trying to be polite and each time we do that, a little piece of us dies inside.
5. I'm not gonna name names, but there's this one coworker I have who most likely thinks I'm really stupid. And each time I make a mistake in front of him or say something stupid, he gives me shit about it and I feel depressed afterwards. It's like I already look like an ass in front of you, you don't have to rub it in! I'm pretty sure that for someone who works in retail, he makes a few mistakes now and again as well, and even more especially when he first started. I'm just tired of him making me feel like shit because instead of being compassionate and offering any type of sympathy, he has to bring me down anytime I make a stupid mistake.
6. We have this system that involves color coding. Say for example that this week's color is red, then that's the new stuff that comes out that week, unfortunately, employees aren't allowed to buy the new stuff that comes out that week, meaning we have to wait for next week's color to start, have a friend or family member buy it for us, or someone else nabs it, and that just pisses me off cause some of the stuff we get is either something we need or is just really cool and I just want to get it.
7. I hate how most of the time, at the end of the day when I get tired, my natural response is to feel depressed. Perhaps it's just the stress of the job that makes me tend to focus on all the bad things that are going on in my life. During that time, I often think about things like my dad, my life, people in general, what I'm gonna do when I get home, why I'm even still here, and sometimes I even think if this job doesn't work out how I could join the army and fight overseas. I mean hey, why play Call of Duty when you can live it?
8. I hate how I don't live close enough to work. It takes my mom 20-30 minutes to drive me to work and the same ammount of time to drive me back. Because of that, my mom refuses to take me anywhere I want to go unless it's important or she's doing something in Sun Prairie or Madison also. Because of that combined with my job schedule, I have a very minimalistic to nonexistent social life. On my days off, I could be at the gym, hanging with friends, shopping, or doing whatever, but instead I'm stuck here at home.
9. I hate days whenever things get busy, that's when things start to get backed up and then I start to feel the pressure. Merchandise tends to keep coming out and I'm in a bit of a rush to try to get things put out and in their spot and then my work keeps piling up while I have things like customers and furniture to deal with, it's such a headache sometimes.
10. I hate how all the bad stuff and my depression can outnumber and distract me from all the perks of the job. Such as a few of the regulars that come in and cheer me up and a few of the stories you can hear from some of the other customers. And it's also pretty nice whenever you can just shoot the breeze and have a nice conversation with your co-workers. Plus sometimes when I'm struggling, even an occassional customer will step out of their way to lend a hand. Also, believe it or not, there's a bunch of really cool stuff that comes in as well as the occassional unusual items that come in but are still fun to look at and maybe even joke around sometime. We also play 105.1 Charlie FM which play a nice variety of everything, including some music I don't like, however there are plenty of songs they play that I do like, especially the ones I can sing along to. And I love the rare occasion when they play "Hot for Teacher" and I can jam out to it. I also love when I'm able to move furniture out onto the floor, not only does it kinda work my muscles, but it also makes me feel really productive, kinda like I have a purpose doing it. And since furniture is one of the store's main sources of income, that also makes me feel good about myself. I'm also glad about the things I learned while performing my duties on the job, like organizing and electronics. And I love whenever a customer asks me a question and that I'm able to help them with it and make their day and their lives a little bit easier. Sure, I may not be getting paid enough to do this, there will always be some of those bad things that come up, and I still have a lot to learn, however, for what I'm getting out of this experience and what I am making, at the end of the day, I start to see why it's all worth it.

Happy New Year!
General | Posted 14 years agoIt has been quite a rough year for me, such as overcoming personal obstacles such as unemployment as well as losing my dad to cancer. However, I'm quite happy to say that I have had a few new experiences and I can only hope to have more of them in the following year. Also, I was finally able to lose the weight I've wanted to lose after all these years, I've lost sixty pounds and I hope to keep it off not just for 2012 but for the rest of my life. I've also managed to get a temp position at Goodwill, hopefully if they like me enough, I can apply for a more permanent postition. Also, I'm tired of putting off other things I've set out to do, this year, I want to be more involved in the furry community by finally clearing off my desk and actually giving a few good attempts at art and having them posted on livestream for some extra moral support/critique/art advice as well as trying to get my webcomic underway eventually. I don't know what the next year holds for me, but I'm certain it won't involve the end of the world, but another new chapter in my life. I hope to do a lot of things for 2012 and I hope to make them worthwhile!
Holiday Wish List
General | Posted 14 years agoHey guys, I got the same idea from Gen and Vinci, and I know this seems a bit redundant, and I don't expect anything from anyone and I'm unsure if I'll be able to give to anyone, but I always saw this as a fun thing to do. And maybe someone else could be able to help make your wish come true by posting a link to your wishes in the doobly-doo below (Comments if you didn't get that)
The Holiday Wishlist Instructions:
Step 1
Make a post in your journal containing your list of 10 holiday wishes.
If you wish for real-life things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where folks could get in touch with you.
Step 2
Surf around other lists to see who has posted their list. If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true.
As for my own wishlist:
1. I know this is something no one can physically be able to give me, but after overcoming and still kind of dealing with a bunch of my own problems including my drug addiction, bulimia/anorexia, depression, unemployment, my loss of faith in humanity, and my father's death, I'd just kind of like a fresh new start, to just open another new chapter in my life and be able to sustain it. A new job would especially help, and I'm in the process of getting one, I may end up doing temporary work training fro a couple months. So please just send me some good vibes and prayers or something, it would really help me.
2. Another thing I'm not sure you'd be able to help with, I know I keep talking about the idea of starting a new webcomic, and I still haven't been able to come up with much, so I'd just like some inspiring words or some encouragement, or maybe some advice on where I could get started.
3. I started getting into collecting some antiques, for some reason, I like stuff that's much older than I am, like in the 30 yrs.-100+ yrs. range, especially if there's some history behind the item or if it could be potentially worth something that I could resell it, cause I could really use the money right now. I'm especially into things like pottery and glassware, furniture with curves or something unique, I could go on forever, but yeah, I like really thrifty things like that. It doesn't have to be really valuable or anything like that, and just because it could be worth a lot doesn't mean I'd sell it, depending on it's uniqueness.
4. I'm also into collecting coins, especially if they're old, rare and potentially worth more than face value. I would probably sell them since I'm poor, but it would make a huge difference in morale. Plus being able to do some research on the coins is a very enriching learning experience.
5. I would like Skyrim just to see what all the hype is about.
6. I wouldn't normally ask this, but I would also like some money just so I can have enough to be able to put it in a bank account so I can be more active here online.
7. Some quilting materials would also be nice, even if some of them are scraps, I'd still like to do something cool with them, all I ask is it be 100% cotton because that's the only material I work with that I feel is suitable for quilting.
8. I'd like to be able to do more creative stuff like drawing as well as being able to quilt more often.
9.I'd like some of you to help recall McCain, Levin, Graham, and all the other senators who voted on the National Defense Authorization Act as well as Scott Walker and Lindsay Boerma, as well as the American Congress by signing as many petitions and protesting as much as you can.
10. I'd like more wishes of other people such as Gen and Vinci to come true as well. Especially Vinci, who's wish list has mostly unselfish requests and holiday wishes for her family and friends.
While I may not be able to help you guys as much as I want to, maybe someone else can, please leave a comment below with a link to your Christmas wishlist.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
General | Posted 15 years agoHappy New Year everyone! It has been quite memorable. This Christmas was also very memorable with plenty of ups and downs, the best high for me was getting a new iTouch! The lowest was the night after where I threw up more than I ever did before (I don't wanna go into the details) But I'm better now. This year, I plan on starting drawing and my new webcomic which I think I'll call Switzerland instead of Doubting Thomas. And I know I say this every year, but this time I will lose weight. I also plan on getting a new job, learning how to drive, learn to be more independant, and have new experiences. Well the ball is about to drop, see you all next year!
Please help my friend stay with her man

General | Posted 15 years ago[01] Do you have the guts to answer these questions and re-post
Why not?
[02] Would you do meth if it was legalized?
I don't know, I'd have to consider the taste and the long-term health effects
[03] Abortion: for or against it?
Against it, I wish that people would consider adoption over ending a potential life.
[04] Do you think a country would fail with a female president?
It all depends on the person, we're all human, regardless of gender, we each have an important object between our ears, what matters is how we use it, and if we can find a president, male or female, who knows how to use it right, we'll be pretty good for a long time to come
[05] Do you believe in the death penalty?
Yes, Anyone who takes or ruins a life is not worthy of their own, all killers, sex traffickers and rapists deserve to burn in hell
[06] Do you wish marijuana would be legalized already?
Yes, I think it would be better for medical reasons, it would help the economy just a little bit, and be used recreationally. Just as long as it's not abused and and people don't drive or operate machinery while using it, it should be legalized
[07] Are you for or against premarital sex?
For it, I believe sex is something meant to be enjoyed and the world could use a little more love
[08] Do you believe in God?
Yes, but I have some doubts
[09] Do you think same sex marriage should be legalized?
I think all kinds of marriage is wrong, but that's just me, but if two men or two women want to get married, they should be able to do that without the government gettin' all up in their business
[10] Do you think it's wrong that so many Hispanics are illegally moving to the USA?
Sure, I know they're doing it for a better life, but it's harming our economy with all the jobs being taken, there's the chance they may end up as slaves or prisoners to the people that bring them to America for not paying up, and all the violence involved with drug trafficking doesn't make things any better either.
[11] A twelve year old girl has a baby, should she keep it?
I think she should be able to take care of it with the help of family and friends, but if it makes things so unbearably bad, or there's a lack of responsibility or mistreatment, the baby should be put up for adoption
[12] Should the alcohol age be lowered to eighteen?
On one hand, it may help the economy a little, but on the other, the death rate due to drunken driving, alcohol poisoning, or other health problem may rise significantly
[13] Should the war in Iraq be called off?
Not while groups like al-Quada and the Taliban are still out there.
[14] Assisted suicide is illegal: do you agree?
Physician assisted suicide is not illegal, but if someone is perfectly healthy and someone gets involved, it's illegal
[15] Do you believe in spanking your children?
It's a brutal method, but effective, I think it keeps kids in line and shows them who's boss, and helps them grow up to be more mature adults.
[16] Would you burn an American flag for a million dollars?
Yes, it's just a piece of cloth, there are plenty of others to go around, and I could use that money.
[17] Who do you think would have made a better president? McCain or Obama?
We don't need another George Bush. And despite things are a little slow, Obama has helped this country to recover, now if only he could fix the oil spill, lower gas prices, and end the war.
[18] Are you afraid others will judge you from reading some of your answers?
No, in fact, I think others will sympathize with me after reading them.

Planning on starting a Webcomic
General | Posted 15 years agoI've been a fan of webcomics like Vinci & Arty, Jack, Lackadaisy, and even some graphic novels for quite some time, now I think it's time I took a shot at it. My story will be about a guy who just moves out of his apartment after winning the lottery and into a small neighborhood where
Vinci and Arty might play as secondary characters if I get the owner's permission. He plays as a guy who's rather neurotic, cynical, skeptical, and comes across as quite odd to other people, his mental condition will come into play as the story moves along. The main point of the story is my character coming across questions of his sexuality behind his back and how he handles them, however, as he moves along, even he begins to question himself. After having remodeled his basement, he rents out the apartment to a severely depressed fox named Dexter who just got out of some shady activities after being forced to go along with them, and my character tries to figure out what's wrong with him using his own unique methods. The thing is, I still haven't given him a name and I'm still deciding whether he should be a panther, wolf, or a fox. I still need to come up with concepts for other main and supporting characters and a title. So I need to come up with some more ideas and I need your help.
For starters there are names:
Leon Fol'Crusse
Beyond a Reasonable Doubt
Either Way
Kill Me Now
Whatever Works
Don't Panic
Que Sera Sera
Odd One Out
And that's all I can think of, if there are any ideas for character names and traits or title names you can think of, you let me know. Thanks guys
