The world needs better priorities...
Posted 15 years agoSo... I'm halfway through my college career. I'm going to be a Junior in the fall. I'm sure most people in my position are all like, "Yeah, already halfway done! I can't wait to get out there and start earning money!" ...I'm not. I'm just the opposite. I'm very much dreading graduation.
Why, you ask? That's what I'd like to ask the people who are all pumped to get a job and start earning money. What's so great about money? I'm serious. Money buys you nice things, sure, and it keeps you from being kicked out of your house due to rent / mortgage, but... that's really it. It's all just pieces of paper. I've never cared much about "stuff". Sure I buy video games every now and then, but I usually buy enough to sate my gaming appetite even on this meager college-kid budget. Why would I need a full-time, 40 hour a week job?
Of course, I will, when I get out of here. I'll be up to my eyeballs in student debt, just like every other college kid ever. The problem is, I really like the college life. All my friends, and all the learning I get to do... I'd keep on learning at institutions forever if I could, but at some point you have to start paying back. I know me and my friends will all go our separate ways after graduation, too. And even though I believe them when they say they'll keep in touch, it just isn't the same...
I'm not motivated by money the same way 95% of the country is. I'm motivated by friendship, by knowledge, "the truth", and by helping people. It was a mistake to learn how to make video games, then. Video games don't help people all that much. I'll be trapped for years working in a field that, I recently learned, isn't really what I want. It's workable, but not something I want to do for 40+ years. Unfortunately, I'm still not sure what I DO want, and I'm running out of time to figure that out. I fear that I won't find anything I want to do as a long-term career... "Working" isn't really in my blood I guess. Call me lazy but... When money doesn't drive you, jobs stop having their power over you.
*sigh* It really sucks when you're motivated by different things than the rest of your country is... The system isn't designed to help me get what I want because I'm probably the only one who wants it. Again, if I'm even sure that's what I want after all... Damn... When do things become clear?

Posted 15 years agoI'm so angry and pissed off right now. I HATE my Evolutionary Psychology class. HATE IT. So much. I can't stand it. Every chapter seems to hit a new low. "Men are genetically and evolutionarily predisposed to be rapists, to sleep around, to have affairs, abuse their spouse, etc." I've had it! Sure, women do some of these too. Not as much, but they do. For similar reasons, as my book explains! Well that's just GREAT. Totally helpful for my faith in humanity! Call me naive, call me stupid, I know I'll get a lot of flak for posting this on a furry site. But I always thought people were GOOD at their core. Not selfish or chauvinistic monsters! GAH! The worst part? I can't call most of this stuff BS! MOST of it makes SENSE! Hmph. Maybe I shouldn't care about the average person, if they really are this bad... Maybe I was wrong... Fuck people.
Free sketches cancelled... for now.
Posted 15 years agoI'm sorry to all of you that were hopeful for a free, poorly-drawn sketch. (All 5 of you. :P) But I really need to devote this summer to other things. Sorting things out, self-discovery, etc. People who know me well know what I mean. It's nothing bad, it's not like any drama has struck me, I just want to turn my life around, you know?
All that being said, it's not permanently off the agenda. Drawing is one of the many (many) things I want to improve about myself, and I WILL get to it at some point. Thanks to those who are still willing to be patient.

Free sketches! I guess.
Posted 15 years agoOkay, so I've had a few close friends repeatedly tell me that I'm not the WORST artist they've ever seen... whether I believe them or not remains to be determined, but hey. :P Seriously though, I can almost manage to find it fun, if I can get past the "OMG I SUCK BALLZ" mentality. And shittons of practice is the only way I'll ever get better, so...
Free simple sketches, for anyone who wants them. I wouldn't even consider charging for artwork like this, so, lucky you. Here's my basic disclaimer though:
1. I ONLY draw CLEAN pictures. I'm that rare type of furry that keeps the filters up 24/7, so you'll just have to deal with it.
2. These will just be simple pencil sketches. Possibly with colored-pencil coloring. It's all I have available.
3. I'm both busy and impatient when it comes to drawings, so expect 15-minute sketches. Nothing personal. :P
4. Even still, expect a turnaround of days or even weeks. School's a bitch right now...
5. Finally, if things seriously hit the fan on my end, I reserve the right to suspend or cancel these indefinitely. Sorry if I do, but hey, it was free so you didn't exactly lose anything. :V
If you're still willing to ask for a sketch after all that, you're crazy. And I like that. :3 Just post a comment with a picture I can use for reference.

I got art stuffs!
Posted 15 years agoSo yeah... ended up going with a friend to staples earlier today so he could get a binder, and decided to break down and buy some basic art supplies. Sketch pads, drawing pencils and colored pencils. All for 12 bucks. Am I actually gonna use them? Well, sure. I already bought them, so I feel compelled to try, now. :P But will I have anything I deem worth uploading? ...we'll see. =3
