End of the Month Plans

Tomorrow I leave for one of my best friend's wedding and won't be back until the 26th. Once I get back, I will resume comm work and hopefully start getting some new stuff cooked up for the next holiday!
To my waiting commissioners, thank you SO much for your patience and understanding this past year. It's been wild for me and my family and I am so grateful for your continued support. If you have not gotten a WIP yet, I will get one to you as soon as I possibly can when I return home. If you are curious about where I'm at on your piece but don't require a visual, my trello is up to date with names and progress indicators! (linked on my profile)
While I'm excited for a small break, I am equally (if not more) excited to come back to work. And when I get back, I will have something special for you guys >:)

ART THINGS
I've been doing a lot of thinking on this and going back and forth on it, but I believe I've come to a decision on what I want out of my art. I'll make a more dedicated announcement about this later, but I think I'll be an exclusively dragon/scaly artist. I just get more enjoyment from drawing dragons and I don't want to disappoint anyone with mammalian OCs with something I personally feel is sub-par in comparison. Now this isn't to say I won't take on other species like canines, felines, etc. ever again. They will just be exclusive to YCHs or special openings when I feel like I can adequately deliver something I'll be happy with. Regardless of this decision, I hope you all will still stick with me through this journey ^^
After I get through my remaining commissions, I'd like to put up some Halloween-themed adopts! I've been quietly working on a big base pack in the background and this is the perfect excuse to try it out and get some character designs out of my noggin and into the world. So if adopts are your thing, keep an eye out next month!
Lastly, as far as commission openings go, I'm going to try to open one more time before the end of the year, but I can't make any promises. I'd like to spend next year doing some more personal art and YCHs. I've just got too many ideas I want to do, but not enough time to do them right now.
IRL THINGS
So we thought Faf would be going back to shift work at the end of October, but that isn't the case. He could be staying on a M-F schedule for possibly another year. Which means my schedule will be roughly the same since I work at home while he is out. Needless to say, we're both a little disappointed by that. But it's only temporary until he gets his certifications. After that, he can go back to shift work and I can go back to my rotating schedule for my work. We're both eager to get back to "normal" for us XD
The end of the year is still looking pretty packed for me, still gearing up to travel to a friend's wedding at the end of next month and hopefully I'll have some good stories to tell after that! Family travel is still up in the air for either Thanksgiving or Christmas, but hopefully we can figure that out soon.
Outside of that, I'm still juggling between commission work and house renovations. Work on our game room has finally started! So there is possibility for some new things in the future that I might be involved in regarding tabletop gaming! But I don't want to spoil anything yet >.>

This will be one of the last times I am opening for new work for the rest of the year, so if you want something, you'll only have one more chance after this one! There will be a few YCH opportunities in the future, some solo, some couples, and even some with my characters!
The reason being- life is just getting very busy and I will be traveling around a lot at the end of the year, starting in the middle of October. I'll have my birthday, a friend back in my home state is expecting a baby, another friend in Florida is getting married, Fafy is graduating his classes, and then Halloween to close out the month. November has Thanksgiving, and I'm not sure if we're traveling to visit my family this year or if we're saving that for December for Christmas and New Years. Either way, my schedule is packed and I know I won't have the mental fortitude to maintain both my work life and personal life with everything going on.
This isn't to say art is going to stop completely from me until 2026! I'll probably switch to doing more personal work, developing my other characters more, finally giving others refs, and just enjoying art as a whole when I get a spare moment. Additionally, I'll be going back to my 12hr rotating schedule soon, so I'll be able to interact with you guys more!
But I hope everyone else has been doing well! Summer is almost over and I can feel the air getting crisper!Smol Update

Posted 4 months agoAs the title says, I have to delay sending out updates. I have been under the weather physically and mentally the past couple days and I just do not have the spoons to write out emails. Just know that I have everything ready to go and I will be sending out updates Monday no matter what. If you are a client and do not want to/cannot wait until then, just message me and I will send you the image of what I have for you, but I cannot respond in any meaningful way beyond that right now.
I also wanted to take this time to let everyone know that I will be less present during the month of June. If you've followed me for a little while, you know that last year was the 15 year anniversary of losing my dad. And it hit me harder than I anticipated. I'm thinking part of why I'm feeling so off mentally is because I know that the anniversary is coming up again on the 13th. I'm doing my best to stay focused and just pay attention to the work in front of me most days. But some days, I just can't. So I rest until I can find the will to function again. I'm not asking for sympathy for any of this, just giving a heads up. I might not be ok right now, but I will be.
This also isn't to say I won't be creating during the coming month, I'll just be quieter. My dad would always encourage me to follow my love of art. So I want to honor him and do something that he would be proud of me for. So that is what I'm going to do.
If you have reached out to me at all this week, even just to say hello and I haven't responded, know that I have read it and I appreciate you thinking of me. It's rough out here, but you guys help make things not so terrible ♥Assorted Updates!
Posted 5 months agoHey guys! I already posted some of this to my bsky, but for those who do not use it, I'm updating here as well.
I'm closing in on clearing my queue and sending out updates. Some have already been sent out, others I am going to be working on throughout the week. Optimistically, I'd like to get all WIPS out by the end of the week, possibly one finished piece. So if you have not heard from me yet, keep an eye out!
After I get this batch cleared, here's a quick rundown of what I'm planning:
- I will be taking a break from commission work until August and switching gears to work on some personal projects and developing my style more (and maybe a couple other secret things for you guys!)
- Prices will most likely be raised a little bit when I come back to commission work AND I'll be offering different things when I reopen
- I will be participating in art fight again this year! If you also play, drop your link below!!
- I recently started writing out all my lore for Sinna and Fafnir and I am having SO much fun with it. Their story is very personal to me, so I'm a little hesitant of putting it all out there, but I would like to share some fun snippets accompanied with some art sometime in the future.
- Stickers?? Keychains?? Standees?? Are these things people might be into? I've thought about doing something with Absynthe or a dragon from DnD, but don't want to sink any money into it if there's no interest in this kind of thing.

Next Comm Openings and Current Comms Check-In!
Posted 7 months agoI will be opening for new work at the end of the month! I have one large project that will be very intensive, so slots will be EXTREMELY limited this go around, only 3-4 slots this time. I will also be placing up a YCH with Absynthe in the very near future!
I was originally going to reopen for work halfway through this month, but February's shenanigans really set me back work-wise. I'm a little over halfway through my queue now, and the remaining pieces are either in their final stages of shading OR I am waiting to hear back from commissioners regarding any edits or payments. If I have not heard from you, you will be placed at the end of the queue. Once I work my way to those pieces, I will reach out again to touch bases and talk with commissioners.

Posted 8 months agoSo I've had a lot happening behind the scenes both last week and this week.
I finished out my last days at my job. My mom's facebook account was hacked by a scammer and I had to help her get it back and change all of her important passwords. We dipped well below freezing for about three days, and on the second day we had a multitude of problems with our house- while the inside stayed warm and cozy, outside did not, resulting in frozen water lines, frozen drainage pipes, and a busted water line. We just got the busted pipe fixed today and we have running water again, but our drainage pipes are still not thawed out. This means we cannot run ANY water that will go down a drain for any reason. We currently have water pooling in our sink and bathtub about an inch deep from trying to keep a faucet dripping and it has backed up into whatever free space it could find. Today is the last day we will be below freezing so we're really hoping we can get completely thawed out before sundown. We thankfully live less than 5 minutes from Fafy's parents and they have been so kind to let us use their showers and restrooms until this gets sorted out.
So to my commissioners, I am still working on your pieces when and where I can. Just know that I might be a little behind schedule until we can thaw out. I wanted to have at least half of my list finished by the end of the month, but it's looking like I'll have to push it back to the first or second week of March. Here's hoping nothing else happens on my end.So I have a question...
Posted 8 months agoUPDATE: I have found the current owner and have reached out to them about this! Here's hoping we can come to an understanding and be able to look back on this and laugh!
I posted this to BlueSky, but I'll ask here too for more people's thoughts. No names are mentioned because I just don't want to put people on the spot for a genuine mistake.
I'm having a small dilemma.
In 2016 I bought a character from an artist. In 2018, the same artist created another adopt with the same theme, but the characters look nothing alike. No problems there, I honestly forgot about the second character over the years. In 2023 I purchased a commission of the character I owned from the artist that created them. I approved the sketch and eventually got the finished piece with different colors and marking placements, thinking the artist wanted to take some liberties and do a "glow up" kind of thing since so much time had passed and their skills had improved.
Today I'm looking back through said artist's gallery, and lo and behold, I find the second adopt that I had completely forgotten about. And they look exactly like the character in the commission I bought, not the character I owned and submitted in their form. I did my due diligence and looked up the second adopt owner to see if I could contact them at all about the situation, maybe even offer to buy the character if they haven't gotten attached to them, but they've been inactive on FA for over a year it seems. They don't have many links on their profile to contact them, and the ones they do have, I don't see the adopt posted anywhere. It's like they completely forgot they bought it. Everywhere else has been dead with virtually no activity for over 2 years.
I have since reached out to this individual and sent them a note on here as a shot in the dark to ask about the character, but I guess my question is, do I also reach out to the artist? I don't want the artist to feel like they have to redo the entire piece because I can see this as a genuine mistake on their part. And it was from two years ago. Yes, I should have caught it sooner, but at the same time, the characters are visually distinct in their silhouettes and their color palettes and I feel like if I were to point it out to the artist, they would say the same thing and that they should have also caught it. I could chalk it up to a loss if the owner doesn't want to sell, but that was a good chunk of money I paid, way more than what they originally paid for the adopt.
I'm just lost here and not sure where to go if the owner never responds to me.
Do I ask the artist to recolor the whole piece to fit my character even though it's been two years?
Do I let it go and take the financial loss?
Do I absorb the character as my own since they are inactive and haven't posted it anywhere ever?
How long do I wait for a response from the adopt owner before I ask the artist about adopt ownership?
I feel wrong just taking a character someone paid for regardless of if they're using it/active or not. I wouldn't want it done to me, so I'm not keen on doing it to others. Just looking for advice with this one.
tl;dr
Bought an adopt in 2016. Bought a comm in 2023 from adopt creator. Finished piece is not my adopt, but a similar one the artist made in 2018. Second adopt owner is inactive for close to 2 years. Sent a DM to second adopt owner to offer to buy said adopt since it's not posted anywhere. What do??For Commissioners

Posted 11 months agoI mentioned it in the last journal that I had found a happy medium for semi-rendered comms. I've gone through a few pieces with the new method and I think I'm ready to open for them. We're offering both thigh-ups ($30) and full bodies ($50) this time around, but only one character per image.
I will be out of office from the 6-16 of November, so I will review any forms submitted during that time when I get home! Depending on how this holiday season goes, this will most likely be the last time I open for anything this year.
Since it's late, I'm going to just gently link to my form here in a journal and post an image ad here and on my other sites in the morning. Examples are included in the form!

I've been playing around with some new methods and I think I've found my comfort zone for "slightly rendered" work. Prices are currently $30 for thigh-ups and $50 for full-bodies.

Still up on my chopping block is a date with Sinna. Depending on what the bidder chooses, it can range anywhere from a cozy coffee/book date to having Sinna parade your character around on a leash or tie them up for another character. (Think of someone showing off a prize to be handed off to the winner, Sinna will not be participating in any sexual activities past presentation.)Life Updates
Posted a year agoThis is just a little update post for those interested in not-art things! And maybe a few commission openings-related things at the very end.
Since last September, Fafy and I have been working hard at getting our new house fixed up and ready to move in, which has taken up A LOT of my time and energy. So if I have been absent or not very interactive, this is why. It turned out to be so much more than we initially expected. With a fully carpeted floor soaked in dog urine, an AC unit holding on for dear life to not fall through the floor, a horrible mouse problem, and plumbing issues, we truly did not expect half of these problems to not be disclosed to us prior to buying. Many of these problems were hidden from the house inspectors as well. Despite it all, we are willing to work and make it a place we are happy to live in.
While we aren't 100% finished with the renovations, we are finally at a place where we can move in and work on it at a slower, more comfortable pace. Our bedroom is done, master bath is functional, living room is 90% finished, kitchen is getting new cabinets and countertops in two weeks, and my office is ready for me to set up. New floors, changes to some of the room layouts, and a fresh coat of paint, this house looks (and SMELLS) like an entirely new home. I wish I could post before and after's to show just how drastically things have changed, but I'm not comfortable sharing my home publicly ^^; We're both excited to move from our tiny two room apartment into something bigger and finally get the chance to spoil our two cats and possibly welcome a third fuzzy family member into our home <3
To my commissioners who have been so patient and kind with me while I juggle commission pieces, housework, family illness, and finding spare time for myself and Fafy to decompress, thank you so much. You have no idea how grateful I am to have such wonderful customers. You guys are amazing.
All of that being said, my commissions are currently closed while we move, and will remained closed until the end of the month or beginning of next month. I'd just like to take time to really settle into the new home and do some personal work or some adopts. During this time, I'm also going to be reconsidering what type of comms I'll open for next. While I do love doing flats, I'd like to open myself up to bigger, more custom pieces or ref sheets. I'm also open to suggestions on things you all would like to see!
