Visiting Florida!
Posted 11 years agoHey Florida furries, I'll be in central Florida from March 8 to 14. I am visiting the campuses of Rollins and UCF, as well as visiting Disney. I plan to go to the Tuesday night meetup at Oblivion, but other than that my schedule is open. See you there!
RIFT
Posted 14 years agoWho's playing it when it launches? I'm trying to find a guild and/or shard/faction to play. Would prefer some furries to play with.
Going to the Winter Carnival!
Posted 14 years agoI'm coming back to Florida next weekend for Elliott's and to see my furends in the area! See y'all soon!
Moving to Indianapolis
Posted 15 years agoI've been out of work for two months now. Thanks to some awesome furry friends, I've been able to stay in Orlando and look for work, but I still haven't found work and I'm really trying here. So I start moving at the end of November, and will be all moved by mid-December.
I still have time to find a job and turn this around, but I'm doubtful. I'm still going to try though.
Thanks to
&
for putting a roof over my head as I work through this.
To my Dragonettes
I'll miss you all, in span of a few months you've all made memories that'll last a lifetime.

HOW TO TICK PEOPLE OFF

- Leave the copy machine set to reduce 200%, extra dark, 17 inch paper, 99 copies.
- In the memo field of all your checks, write "for sexual favors."
- Specify that your drive-through order is "TO-GO."
- If you have a glass eye, tap on it occasionally with your pen while talking to others.
- Stomp on little plastic ketchup packets.
- Insist on keeping your car windshield wipers running in all weather conditions "to keep them tuned up."
- Reply to everything someone says with "that's what you think."
- Practice making fax and modem noises.
- Highlight irrelevant information in scientific papers and "cc" them to your boss.
- Make beeping noises when a large person backs up.
- Finish all your sentences with the words "in accordance with prophesy."
- Signal that a conversation is over by clamping your hands over your ears and grimacing.
- Disassemble your pen and "accidentally" flip the ink cartridge across the room.
- Holler random numbers while someone is counting.
- Adjust the tint on your TV so that all the people are green, and insist to others that you "like it that way."
- Staple pages in the middle of the page.
- Publicly investigate just how slowly you can make a croaking noise.
- Honk and wave to strangers.
- Decline to be seated at a restaurant, and simply eat their complimentary mints at the cash register.
- TYPE IN UPPERCASE.
- type only in lowercase.
- dont use any punctuation either
- Buy a large quantity of orange traffic cones and reroute whole streets.
- Repeat the following conversation a dozen times.
"DO YOU HEAR THAT?"
"What?"
"Never mind, it's gone now."
- As much as possible, skip rather than walk.
- Try playing the William Tell Overture by tapping on the bottom of your chin. When nearly done, announce "No, wait, I messed it up," and repeat.
- Ask people what gender they are.
- While making presentations, occasionally bob your head like a parakeet.
- Sit in your front yard pointing a hair dryer at passing cars to see if they slow down.
- Sing along at the opera.
- Go to a poetry recital and ask why each poem doesn't rhyme.
- Ask your co-workers mysterious questions and then scribble their answers in a notebook. Mutter something about "psychological profiles."

Bring It On
Posted 15 years agoLife has been tough lately. Lost my job, lost my best friend, and moved, all in the past month. I am lucky to have amazingly supportive friends that are helping me get back on my feet, but I feel the loss of my friendship with my bestie pretty keenly. I haven't wanted to post anything, because frankly it sounds like whining, and wanting attention.
I wonder what I could have done to make things better when I left, but realize that I'd be screwed no matter what, financially or emotionally, in the end.
...but hey, I have some really amazing people in my life now and even though everything about my life has changed, I can learn something from this. So, bring it on.

Posted 15 years agoTonight
purplestarz and I went to see a double feature up at Winter Park Village, because she knows someone there so we got comp’d into the movies.
First movie was Death at a Funeral, which was ok, a lot of awkward humor and some literal toilet humor. I don’t recommend spending money to see it.
Second was DisneyNature’s Oceans, which was AMAZING. It was riveting in it’s exploration of the beauty of the ocean and all the marine life living in the vast ecosystem. I think the best part was seeing a leafy Sea Dragon! OMG!
Also Kampie’s friend got me the promo poster for How to Train Your Dragon! OhMyJeebus it’s sexy as hell.
Happy Birthday Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress… and Happy Earth Day!

FWA 2010: Day 1

(me, again)
Day 1: Thursday
We wanted to leave bright and early to make it there by 5p. As it is typically with a con, that kinda didn't happen. Kampie woke up 90mins late, and from there we kept lagging behind. The road trip wasn't too bad, Stank slept most of the way. I got to be DJ (yay!) and I found the VH1 Top 100 Songs of the 90s. Oh yea, we were rockin' it out. After a few hours I spotted a sign for a KFC buffet, hells ya. After nomming on chicken and mashed potatoes, we hit the road again. We made it halfway through the 90s until we got done with listening to it, and then I put on an audiobook. It was an Agatha Christie novella, dramatized by a BBC Radio cast. That was entertaining, we listening to some more 90s music but finally made it to Atlanta. And honestly it was a good thing we did, because we missed rush hour traffic completely when we were rolling into town around 7:30p. We had heard from twitter that the registration line was long but it wasn't that bad when I got there.
The theme was carnaval so somehow that meant lots and lots of BALLOONS! So I totally grabbed one while waiting to register. Of course, it was a BLUE one. I'd already seen a few central Florida furs too, which helped me settle in, seeing familiar faces. We got the poster and a guide and beads! I asked for a blue strand, got a rainbow one too. I was already hitting a con high, dunno why but I felt festive tugging my gay ass balloon around. Kampie had finished the tedious business of checking in, so when she saw me and the balloon she teased me for having an inflation fetish. I rolled my eyes and said some flippant risqué joke. So then we got the stuff moved in, somehow Stank had all his shit mov ed and was already setting up camp in the artist alley before we knew it. Kampie wanted downtime, she did all the driving, so I walked around. Stumbled into someone I followed on twitter, Drenthe. Totally babbled about my shiny new beads and my balloon like an idiot. I walked away feeling like I made a bad impression, because I'm in a silly mood, and I tweeted that. Well I wandered around saying my hellos to my Orlando furiends.
After the social mingling, I headed to the Board Game Room to see
and get some gaming in. They were starting a game of Shadow Hunters, so I joined them. I got to meet
and
, as well as a human named Thursday. I think there was another player there, Nana got everyone's FurAffinity afterwards, she'd know. That was a blast, I love anything that involves mindgames and subtle trickery to win. Fun times. I won 2 out of 3 games I think.
After that it's a blur of walking around talking to people, hung out with Stank and Kampie in the artist alley a bit. Played some Rock Band, before I knew it it was 2a and everything was closing. So I headed back to the room to settle down.
,
, and
were already down, so I crawled in. Right at the moment when I was slipping into dreamworld, there was a loud entrance. Room was dark, but it was obviously
and his friend
. Well
and I got roused awake, and we ended up blabbing in the middle of the night punch-drunk, eventually waking up
, who was mildly irritated, but when we started ragging on WoW, he joined in and we busted up giggling. After it all settled down to a dull murmur I headed out to get fresh air. Hoping to come back tired to a quiet room. Spent some time with
and texted Sailsior a bit, then finally trudged back to bed.

FWA!

Posted 15 years agoFriday
The day started out damp, which put
in a mood, but we were ready for an awesome weekend! We arrived just around 1p, got in line for tickets, and immediately discovered the people in front of us were Chad and
. Talked to them a bit, got our tickets, turned around they were gone, didn't see them the rest of the day. We immediately proceeded to the Power of Plot panel, and enjoyed hearing about establisher writers discuss their ideas on creating a plot. purplestarz got inspired and immediately had a rough outline for our new project. After that we went to the board game room to hopefully get into a game of Munchkin.
They had already started, but someone said they were starting a game called Lacuna if we were interested. So purplestarz and I joined, not knowing what we were getting into. The basic concept is you delve into the collective subconscious called the Blue City to hunt criminal. She played Agent Vinny Singer, a strong bald thug modeled after Vin Diesel and I was Agent Petunia Purcell, an African-American woman with style, who was an ex-bad girl in an health film. Seriously we were roleplaying and the subject of gambling as a motive came up so I said “speaking as an ex-bad girl in a health film, gambling can lead to all sorts of problems.” Totally worth it to see
's face when I whipped up that bit. As play progressed, I became the authority on sniffing out the loan shark because I was an ex-bad girl in a health film. During a downtime in the game we found out they were going to play Long Live the King later that night so we said we'd be back, I'd read the rules online and it looked like a lot of fun.
We had dinner, milled around the showroom, but didn't buy anything. Met up with Andrew for a bit, that was fun. Then headed back to the game room to play LLtK, I was the Queen and purplestarz was the Ambassador. LLtK is part LARP, part card game. Basically you assume a role in the court and as the King slowly dies, plot against the others to gain the power you want. As Queen Zacrina, my goal was to become regent for my two year-old princeling. purplestarz's was to incite rebellion for her parent country. Think of it as a medieval Survivor, because after a round of plotting the King would hold council and the players would get to petition the King. So lots of backbiting and drama, so fun! Ambassador Catherine had convinced her devotee the Captain of the Guard to detain the Archbishop in the dungeon for several months. Meanwhile, I had desposed the Royal Bastard and my son was named heir when the King's erratic behavior at council signaled the release of the Archbishop, he joined forces with the Royal Bastard to manipulate him to be renamed heir. The King died, Bastard took the throne, and the Archbishop won because he was the real power behind the throne. Yea. TOTALLY FUN! We headed home after that, resolved to be back early the next day...
Saturday
We arrived around Noon. (The early thing didn't work out.) Andrew had been moaning about being alone and bored so we met up with him, somehow we ran into
and his posse at the same time. It was crazy ass busy. The line for the con tickets stretched longer than I could even fathom. Anyways, it was bustling, and we ended up walking through the showroom packed with people with an entourage of Andrew,
, and his friend Sean. The press of the crazy mix of cosplayers, humans, and whatever was stifling, but we encountered lots of cool stuff, check out my pictures to see some of it. The GM Rich from Lacuna was running a game called Don't Rest Your Head, about insomiacs that gain superpowers from lack of sleep. purplestarz was keen on trying this, and we got Andrew to play with us. purplestarz was a bi-polar college student who couldn't sleep because she was fascinated by all her lost socks. I played an ex-hippie named Sunshine, who was trying to dry out so couldn't sleep. Andrew played an internet junkie who never slept because of the internet. Andrew's character BeBop I think had to double-click everything to rid of pop-ups. I got bored because I didn't feel very involved in the game, but Andrew enjoyed himself I think.
After that Andrew split up and
and I went to the cosplay contest. I wasn't let down, there was some amazing cosplayers, from the intricate chainmail to the elaborate hair bedecked with blue roses and the hand-sewn dress. I took a bunch of pictures. We broke for dinner after that then went back to the game room to play Ultimate Werewolf, a Mafia-style game where a villager dies every night at the hands of a werewolf and the villagers lynch someone during the day in an effort to purge the village of the werewolves. Basically, it is a lot of mind games. There were 24 players, so the mind games were fucking fun. I love Mafia games like that.
We then went to the dance party after that. It was a huge line to get in, con volunteers screaming to show the wristband and even one with a bullhorn lecturing us on not bring real weapons or any other metal prop inside. I felt like a teenager going to a “friendly frisk” at Grad Nite at Magic Kingdom. Yea, it was totally what I expected. Teenage otaku jumping around like idiots to awful “trance” music.
and I had fun randomly doing a silly breakdown dance behind someone, we were being stupid like everyone else but it fun.
We got tired of that quickly, so we decided to check out “The Eighties Strike Back: a Star Wars Musical” done by a high school group. So f'ing hilarious. They turned each character from the Star Wars trilogy, turned it into an 80's icon then sang 80's songs with new lyrics. Such as “Video of a Killer Death Star” (Video Killed the Radio Star) or “We Built Cloud City, all for Lando” (We Built This City, on Rock & Roll.) Princess Leia was a classic Madonna in a white & silver outfit with frizzed out hair. Luke Skywalker was Marty McFly. Han Solo was Tom Cruise from Top Gun. Chewbacca was an overly hairy jock. Artoo was a girl in white and silver bedazzled jacket with pants and a metallic top underneath, with a blue glitter star over one eye like Jem. In other words, AMAZING!
Sunday
We actually crawled to MegaCon before noon! I'm so proud of us. Today was the day we'd meet
so
practically dragged me out the door. Okay, maybe not. Anyways, we checked out the showroom floor some and cosplay watched while we waited for
to show up.
joined up with us and I suggested we check out Arne Starr's Trailer Park, because I know
is a film student. So we watch more trailers than I can recall, while Arne talked in a mild monotone about other upcoming film information between reels. It whetted my appetite for new movies, but apparently not enough since nothing stood out except TOY STORY 3, wohoo!
We broke for lunch, I wanted to go to the Star Trek panel to see LeVar Burton and Brent Spiner but we lounged too long and the room was full. After that we found Andrew in the showroom and I spent time with him while
and
talked to mutual friend over at the Artist Alley section in the showroom. I swear Andrew was sniffing out any deal he could find on Doctor Who collectibles. I've never watched the show, but went along with the ride for a bit. I wandered off when Andrew got all fanboy with one of the vendors talking about Dr. Who. As I wandered by myself enjoying some solitude in the tumult of geekiness, I ran into plenty of friends-
&
,
, plus other local furries that I know. I made it back to Cat & Will eventually, we really spent the rest of the afternoon there. We got totally absorbed in a corner devoted to LEGOS for a while, and I have a few pictures of those creations too. Very ironic since we could do that at Downtown Disney anytime, but it had a different appeal in a con I suppose. It got near to closing time at 5p, so people were making deals everywhere for last minute sales.
,
, and I decided to go to Cici's for post-con blues and just to unwind from the long weekend. We said our goodbyes and such to all the friends as we were doing the mass exit thing from the showroom
So much fun, and I'm glad I was able to meet some cool new people and play a few new games. Lots of cool memories!

Posted 15 years agoThis week has gone quickly overall, I'm surprised to find it's more than halfway over. I think my updated contact prescription has given me a sharper look at life... Hah. Seriously I think I was being a zombie before, now I'm ready to tackle life again and have some adventure.
I'm getting worried about the rift between my besties,

. They both want their lives to go down different paths, so I think the end is near, which is a shame.
I have someone important in my life now, but right now we're on different levels and that needs to get smoothed out. So here's hoping!

I Can Make Yo' Bed Rock!
Posted 15 years agoHad a fun time with
&
this weekend. After I got off work on Friday we dragged him around Magic Kingdom. While at the same time Dainan was toting his friend Paul around Studios. Stank hadn’t been in MK since his early childhood so he didn’t remember much. I love being Tour Guide Barbie. We did a few of the awesome iconic rides, including Space Mountain of course. We got a spot in front of Cinderella’s Castle for Wishes… Yea I think he liked it, hehe.
Meanwhile I’m trying to connect with Dainan to meet up for the rest of the night because he said they were coming back to MK, we kept missing each other though.
After the fireworks we made it to the Haunted Mansion. I think Stank was impressed. Anyways we hit Peter Pan’s Flight because one of my GSMs gave us Re-Admission passes so we used them there because we weren’t going to do Big Thunder Mountain. We head back to Liberty Square, got cock-blocked by SpectroMagic, so they watched the parade together while I relaxed. Then we hit the Country Bear Jamboree, because all the men that turn me on turn me down. That was a hootin’ hollerin’ time!
Finally we hit Pirates, and I headed back to Space Mountain to my breakroom to get my work jacket. And wouldn’t ya know it Dainan & Paul were riding with Jackie, so we all rode again then I was able to finally introduce Dainan to Cathi, it was brief because we were going separate directions.
We were f’ing hungry and tired by this point, but the three of us make it to Alehouse, and while we’re seated BedRock plays: http://tinysong.com/eLNJ
Listen to the lyrics, it’s HILARIOUS:
“I Love Ya Sushi Rolls, Hotter Than Wasabi,
I Race For Your Love,
Shake And Bake Ricky Bobby,
I’m At The W, But I Can’t Meet You In The Lobby,”
Then Naturally plays:
http://tinysong.com/bJTz
I then explain that I really dig this music video because they use that effect of taping it at high speed then slowing it to normal pace so her mouth is synced with the music but her hair just flows around her sloooowly, it’s really cool. So now I associate that with this song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_YR4dKArgo
So basically cracking ourselves up and enjoying each others’ company. I’m glad this happened because I haven’t spent much time with Stank, and he’s someone important in Kampie’s life now. And I really enjoyed it, Kampie was worried it was awkward… Hell no, I’m cool like that.
Then we crash at Stank’s place and we’re all so tired we’re punchy. I offered to turn off the lights, but when I clapped the lights didn’t turn off, but for some reason Kampie and Stank busted up laughing… the nerve. I tried again and with a CLAP CLAP the lights turned off! I needed to pee so I clapped again, Stank said “I’m not getting up to hit the switch this time.” Like he had anything to do with it… hehe

Meanwhile I’m trying to connect with Dainan to meet up for the rest of the night because he said they were coming back to MK, we kept missing each other though.
After the fireworks we made it to the Haunted Mansion. I think Stank was impressed. Lately I feel that my overweening pride is being a huge barrier for me. Or maybe obstacle is the better term. At work, I've become so entrenched in my job that I have a lot of pride in what I do. One of my new co-workers called Space Mountain "a kiddie coaster in an amusement park," basically totally dismissing my job and what I do. I was pure rage over that off-hand comment. I see so many people trying make themselves seem important or better than others, but what's the point? I have as much right to live/work/play as anyone else. I don't want to build my life on false realities, but neither do I want to cow to the man. Where's the balance?

Posted 16 years agoLife has a funny way of throwing things your way. Turns out that now that the lease is almost up, my roommates don't want to renew it. So I'm looking for a new place to live here in Orlando, FL. It's that or go back to Indianapolis, IN. I'm hoping this'll turn into something good for me, we'll see what happens.

Megaplex Meme
Posted 16 years agoWhere are you coming from?
About 10min from my house.
What day are you getting there?
Friday!
What days are you going to be at the con?
All three days
What are your favorite places to lurk at the con?
Usually end up in the video game room, or anywhere there's interesting peeps.
Who will you be staying with?
At my own home, but I'll be hanging with my best friends
purplestarz and
rasol
Do you do free art?
I'll draw ya a stick figure if you ask.
Do you do trades?
Nah, why torture you with my lack of drawing skills.
Do you do commissions?
See above.
Do you have prints / CDs ?
Ok why am I filling this out?
Do you do badges?
Badges is back in town? Sure I'll do him.
Will you have Art in the Art Show?
There's an art show?
What is your gender?
Male!
How old are you?
30... ish.
Taken?
Still waiting for the right guy.
Can I talk to you?
Yup! I love meeting new people! I mean furries! Whoops...
Can I touch you?
That's what she said! ...I mean absolutely!
How can I find you?
I'm tall dark and handsome, not to mention my FA avatar is basically a pic of me. :)
Will you be dressed for the Megaplex theme?
I just might wear some xmas-themed clothes, like my Mickey Santa hat
Will you be going to FunSpot?
Again? ...maybe
Are you looking forward to BBF being there?
The GOH? Never heard of 'em, so can't say I am.
