Emergency Commissions - Sorted! Thank you!
Posted 7 years agoEDIT: Hey, thanks for the prompt responses, guys. I'm covered with a couple waiting in the wings in the event my payment doesn't clear quickly enough to avoid another late charge. Seriously, thanks so much. I hate that feeling. x.x I'll be finishing up today and tomorrow for this weekend's batch and then working on those pieces purchased today!
Hey guys, so my bank's service charges fucked me this month (technically last month, but you know how banks are about alerts and money.) And where I thought I was fine to coast through until after rent this month, I was wrong.
I've now racked up two additional (soon to be three) late charges at $30 a freaking pop and have to take care of it ASAP.
I'm on the last leg of my weekend commissions, but for the rest of the week I'll be open to some combination of Icons ($35 a piece, painted) and smut sketches (solo - $37 and couple - $68.)
These will be completed in the order I receive them (payment upfront of course.)
Note me or DM me, whatever. I've got to get this handled as soon as possible.
I need a total of $120ish to be comfortable (and have a little extra padding, just in case, but the total charge is $72.35.

Commissions 5th - 6th - CLOSED
Posted 7 years agoIt's that wonderful time again! Allergies kicked my ass (bless changing bodies, I've now got even worse ones than the year before) last week, so I definitely didn't get much of what I'd intended to get done beyond some TiTS related stuff-- that stuff is going well.
Because I cannot go a single journal without promoting it, we've just gone live with our GUMROAD subscription, so if you're interested in getting stuff from us in June/generally supporting us, you should pop on over to our page on da for Teal in Triplicate, (rest assured, we'll make more use of our FA page, but FA is a much more visual medium and journals are almost entirely ignored!) take a gander at our most recent journal for a breakdown of what's to come, what we're offering and how you can get involved and maybe give us a +watch there or here at teal-in-triplicate!
Now onto what I'm offering this weekend!
I think I want to do some experimental, dynamic lighting pieces. I should note, these may or may not strictly adhere to character colors because of the nature of said lighting, but will be equally as - if not more than - the dynamic mood lighting I did for the piece below.
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/25160596/
Bust - $60
Waist Up - $80
Willing to take pose suggestions, and definitely willing to take mood/atmosphere suggestions. Also content with dealer's choice and a brief summary of their personality to help guide my decision making process.
These will be completed within the weekend as per the norm, comment, note, discord DM to claim a slot! There will be only 2 slots since that seems to be my sweetspot for completion within the weekend itself.
As ever, I remain chipping away at what is left of my backlog, but rent's gotta get covered!

The Midweek Final Push - TiTS
Posted 7 years agoI probably sound like a broken record at this point, TiTs this, TiTS that-- It's not going to get better. I have a vested interest in this endeavor, so a lot of what you're going to be seeing from me over the next month and up until June 1st (our official launch) will have to do with promoting this studio.
So here's the deal, we're almost full circle friday to friday a this point. Since we're so close and I KNOW we can do better before time runs out, I've been thinking of ways to do that do.
I was trying to think of ways to make spreading the word more appealing, but if I was trying to get free art and the larger the pool, the less chance I had, I too, would be hesitant.

No seriously. Do this.
What's in it for you? An extra entry into the raffle. One more chance to win.
The only caveat is that you comment here with a link to the proof.

Posted 7 years agoFirstly, we're still pushing our TiTS out promotion. So if you want a chance at a free piece of art completed by missalluvial, izziebiz and I, you should definitely consider clicking the link below, giving our collaborative studio a watch and replying to the journal to secure your slot in the raffle!
>> This Is A Very Important Journal Link <<
free art, no wai, omg, click it.
Now, onto weekend commissions. This weekend we'll be doing something a little different!
Experimental Smut
What's that entail, exactly? Well, the experimental part just means that I'll be trying new techniques as I have been for the past couple weeks, but you can rest assured quality won't be sacrificed.
2 slots, - One solo slot left! - Couple/Solo slot claimed via DA.
Solo - $37 (this is a full body price)
Couple - $68 (same applies)
Level of completion is refined sketch with a color, some simple layer of shade and highlight to really bring out the volume and weight of the shapes.
You can refer to the pieces I did of the fishcats late last year for a similar look/quality. Although there may be some variables due to the experimental part.Official Pre-Launch Hype Raffle - TiTS!
Posted 7 years agoThat's right, you read it right, TiTS is our acronym.
Izziebiz, missalluvial and I have decided to make a joint effort to create artwork together! We're not yet offering commissions, but we're certainly starting early on drumming up interest in our joint studio operation!

Posted 7 years ago AND THE WINNERS ARE: RYFLE (DA) &
!
Probably won't see completion until tomorrow, as I have some other stuff to do today, and I'll be doing TWO this time (although they're going to be LP busts rather than one of indeterminate size/refinement.)
These will be speedpaints for creative cooldown after I'm done with other backlog stuff, because you gotta wind down, right?
Open to all comers, provided you're a watcher. If you have friends who don't watch me, but think would gel with my style, hit them up with links. New or old, it doesn't matter.
Anthro or human are fine. All genders.
The only caveat is having some sort of previously designed reference because I'm not looking to design someone's character when I'm cooling down from a day of basically doing that, lmao.
To claim, comment with your palette choice and character references, this will remain open until I'm ready sometime later today to do them, at which point I'll run all the names through my handy dandy raffle app and see who the two winners are.
Palette for Round 2 - If you pick a palette close to your character's own, I'm going to Executive Decision you, and pick a new one. The point of LP is to essentially cast your character in a new light-- or color, as the case may be.Commission 14th-15th - CLOSED
Posted 7 years agoAnyways.
This Weekend's Special is....
Drum roll, please.Character Studies! Or I should say a character study because I'm only taking one, because this is a larger commission type and far more time consuming than a bust or something equally small in time investment. Same rules as last week apply here! Claim via comment or note!
The sheet comes in a few different price levels to be a little more accommodating, but also cover everything I'm willing to do.
Easy Peasy -
$55 Comes with one lined, flat waist up of non-intricate costume design, and two sketches artist's choice based on the personality I'm given.
Overly intricate costumes full of minutia like heavy beadwork, lace, armor or otherwise will either be simplified, or I will ask for something simpler. If you really want it, you've the option to pay a little more.
Splurge? -
$70 Comes with the lined piece, cell shaded with basic lighting for pop value, three sketches, artist's choice based on the personality I'm given. (Same costume rules apply.)
IDK, I just REALLY like this character! -
$90 Comes with all the above, as well as a painted portrait/icon.
You save about $20 overall with this bundle at various levels, AND get an icon, which I am rarely open for! Woo! Bonus!
What's it look like?
Theodoric Sheet
(This style is meant to be more heavily influenced by the personality/archetype and may vary between characters.)
Each will be sta.shed and will come with the presentation compilation, plus all the transparent parts for your site blinging needs.DONE - Manzanar Won
Posted 7 years agoI've been working on sketches all day for backlog and now I want to wind down with something loosey goosey.
I considered redoing an old piece to show improvement, but I don't have that level of commitment in me tonight, so rather than do that, I thought I'd give away a free piece!
Yes! Just ONE.
The only qualifier (obviously) is that you're a watcher!
Submit your character and your PALETTE in the comments below and in approximately 1-2 hour(s), I will run your names through a rando generator and see who won! I'm crossposting this to DA, so they'll also be put into the mix!

Commissions and Pro-bono Art Stuff
Posted 7 years agoCrosspost from dA, inc!
So, thanks to an amazing friend I am done (and have been for a hot second, I've just been in destress mode) with my push for funds and am officially closed. I won't be taking commissions much anymore, but may open for specific things further down the road to supplement my income!
I have some backlogged pieces (I've got you all written down) I'll be playing catch-up on, and then I want to do something different. Because my own creativity has been limited in the last year, I want to get involved in some pro-bono sort of projects.
I'm testing the water now for interested parties, so I have some time to prepare/consider the options. These would ideally be low stress. I'm providing you with my skills at no cost to you, but that also means that dictating, deadlines and expectations beyond what I feel inclined to provide aren't welcome. To clarify, this is not a transaction. I do not owe you anything, I'm doing the <insert thing here> for you because I like the idea. Don't make me regret this.
I'm primarily looking for custom specie design or general fantasy/creature/character design, stuff where I get to have some room to stretch my creative muscles and get a little loose. The more fantastical they are, the better. Let me help you bring your ideas to life!
If you fit some or all of the criteria, like my style and want to collaborate, hmu in notes.

So here's the deal
Posted 8 years agoThis isn't working, and it hasn't been working for a while. But, what, you might ask?
Supporting myself solely on commission work. I'm quitting the commission life. It's positively exhausting, and to be honest, it's starting to truly wear on my love of drawing. The last thing I want is something I need as much as I do art, is for it to become something I dread, or perceive as a chore. So, I'm stepping away from commission work. It - unfortunately - will not be a quick disconnect, as I've got to get myself setup for an alternative means of support, but this is gonna be it for me for ... well, I'm not sure. My burnouts have been coming faster and faster with every consecutive year, and the most unfortunate thing about relying on the unreliable, feast or famine lifestyle of commission based income is that... you never get to turn off.
Now, it may be different for some people, but for me this is the case. I don't ever get to turn off, and I generally only break even, or am slightly behind on this, that or the other thing. There's no stability, and I end up going over mental checklists:
Am I behind on this piece?
How long have I made this person wait?
Can I squeeze another couple days out while I try to setup the next round to cover this piece of my living cost?
On top of that, the harder I push, the more the art suffers, and I hate not giving my absolute max skill just because I'm mentally and creatively too drained to produce at the level I know I'm capable of.
So what brought this on?
I typically am a private person, and I don't like sharing my personal struggles, but as they give you a level of insight into why exactly I've made this decision/have been regrettably as bad as I have about my follow-through, I've been encouraged to be a bit more transparent.
A few of you probably noticed my lack of activity since October, and there's a reason for that. I started crashing late in September, I managed to hold shit together until about late October, and then in November, I cracked. Those who end up waiting extended periods of time for art may simply assume I've cut and run, but that's counter-intuitive to the business I'm in and not the case. Generally speaking, when I've stopped altogether and dragged things out longer than they should, it's that I lack the creative fortitude to give what I have to to create a piece. It's not that I don't want to, it's that I literally cannot.
Late October I started working myself up, on top of the even high of stress I regularly function with. I've always been an anxious person, but I'm also relatively self-aware and able to talk myself down. Not this time, it amped up to unmanageable levels and bled into the one reprieve that'd been a constant: sleep. I developed horrible sleep anxiety that compounded everything else. I couldn't sleep and was overtired most of the time, and when I did, the hours were so fucked up it threw everything else up. I started pulling away in November because I was horribly raw and just couldn't be a person in my real life (unfortunately required, as the holidays were upon us, and I have a relatively large, closeknit family that spends a large chunk of that being together and enjoying it.) My priorities were family, so I pulled away from anything else because I couldn't handle one more thing. I'm sorry about going into radio silence with everyone. I wasn't ignoring you for any other reason, just that I was too raw and overwhelmed.
Anyways, long story short, at the end of the year I was having a conversation with someone who is also an artist and could see the life draining out of my work. Basically, it served as an epiphany. I'm ready to be done with this chapter, and I may revisit the commission scene, but what I need is to stop and refocus myself, do something to set myself up in a healthier lifestyle so I can properly enjoy and advance my artistic side.
I need to make a fair amount of cash before I close out completely. I need new duds, sundry items, basic necessities, and to make sure all my bills are covered into next month. If you see streams going up, that's where I intend to make it. It's my compromise, the stream allows me to get things done on the spot and disconnect when it's over.
Now that I've dragged this out to epic proportions, I'll just bulletpoint what to expect from me as I try to ease out of the field.
- Owed work will be completed, I'm not trying to excuse and brush aside anyone. I'll get it done.
- Streams with on-the-spots. I generally don't enjoy streaming, because it's exhausting, but I will be, usually with friends.
- Personal work. You'll see more of it, although I'll wager we're like, at least four months out from that.
- I may - on occasion - open for very specific commission types, if the fancy takes me/if i need the extra income, but only then.
- More trades, more gift work. The irony is that money makes the process of giving art to people so much more stressful. I actually really enjoy drawing for people, just not as much when it's paid for.
If you're concerned I may have forgotten you, about any point presented here-- whatever --just note me and I'll be happy to see it resolved. I also appreciate the understanding in advance.

A Friend In Need!
Posted 8 years agoI've got a friend who's had one hell of a year and she's finally in a good place, but catching a break has been really difficult for her.
I don't have the means to donate myself, having just barely covered my own expenses, but I'd like to appeal to the generous nature of all those with a little change they can spare to help her meet her housing needs so that - come November 1st - she'll be able to stay in the place she's currently in.
(I mean seriously, she's zigzagged the entire length of the states this year trying to find a place to start fresh, and this looks like it could be it!)
You can read more about her and her situation below:

I'm sure she will be most appreciative of anything you can offer, and I will too!

Emergency PWYW Commissions -
Posted 8 years agoEDIT: Got a slow start today (slept until noon) on the two PWYW I got, they won't be done at exactly 5PM but they'll be done today. Sorry for the delay!
So, on top of rent (which I've barely covered this month) I now have a couple of unexpected bills to cover. I hate using the term 'emergency' because it makes it sound more dire than it is, but I do need to make the cash to cover it asap, as the new month is swiftly approaching and I'll once again have to start the cycle anew.
I need in the ballpark of $180 to cover the bills and the service charges I've accrued, which means I've got to open up my PWYW commissions!
$132/$180
PWYW - 24 hr completion
What is PWYW? An acronym for Pay What You Want and everyone's definition of it seems to vary a little, so to avoid confusion, let me give you mine. PWYW is sort of a grab bag, you have control over pricing, but I have control over what you get for the price! This can be good for some commissioners that don't want to have to deal with long waits, or don't often have the funds to get art from me, and it's good for me for obvious reasons-- I have access to quick cash I can use to cover expenses.
Your first instinct may be "You get to decide the quality of what I get for the money? That's stupid! The risk of getting jipped is too damn high!"
Not really. Let's be realistic about this, what purpose does it serve for me to give you unfair quality for the price? None. It will end up hurting me in the long run. I have literally no motivation to do that. That's certainly not encouraging you to try to bleed me dry of every last penny's worth, either. I try to be fair, I expect similar respect.
All commissions (and I will mark a cutoff point when I feel I have enough on my plate) are first come, first served and they will all be done by tomorrow at precisely 5pm. Likely before that, however. I prefer to do these as a 'same day' advertisement, but I didn't get the bills until a couple hours ago, and this day is already half over, even with my insomniac schedule. Never mind the birthday festivities I will be hosting in a little under an hour.
TL;DR
Well I hope you read it, it wasn't that much, but for ease of reference, a bulletpoint:
+ 24 hr completion. The sooner I get your information/money, the sooner I start.
+ Humans, anthros, monsters, any gender-- all good!
+ No smut (it just takes me too long to refine and I'll end up spending too much time on it trying to make it nice and that sets the pace back.)
+ Refer to older submissions marked PWYW for reference of the cheaper routes. But your best bet is looking at my price sheet to get a good idea of what you'll get for your buck.
+ These are wing-it style, meaning I will be picking the pose based on the information you provide.
+ If you don't want one, but want to help a girl out, donations are also welcome via: https://www.paypal.me/detou
+ Can't afford one, but want to help? Boosts are always appreciated!
Steps -
> send payment to desionthebrink@gmail.com (attach a note that tells me your fa handle so I can be quick about connecting people to their money.)
>> send note to me here (subject line: PWYW Commission)
>>> be thorough in your description (especially if you have no reference for me to work off of) and pay close attention to personality quirks and color/detail.
>>>> profit???

Steps -
> send payment to desionthebrink@gmail.com (attach a note that tells me your fa handle so I can be quick about connecting people to their money.)
>> send note to me here (subject line: PWYW Commission)
>>> be thorough in your description (especially if you have no reference for me to work off of) and pay close attention to personality quirks and color/detail.
>>>> profit???
Free Headshot Warmups (DONE)
Posted 8 years agoI've got three picks, doodles soon.
I'm doing them, they're simple, you're not guaranteed to get one, but there's a good chance!
These are just scribbles at varied levels of completion.
Want one? Comment here. I'll be open to character submission for another hour and a half as of the submission of this journal!

Seeking Female Design
Posted 8 years agoI've been looking on and off for a decent female design for what seems like forever. During that time I've picked through a lot of details that do and don't apply to what I'm looking for!
Assuming I find one I like, the ideal situation would be trading designs or a general art trade to cover the cost-- I have primarily male designs, so bear that in mind! If the design is SUPER GREAT, I might actually go money exchange, but that'd have to either be a plan, or waiting until next month's expenses are covered.
SO, the criteria:
+ Definitely anthro.
- No saccharine, googly eyed, cloyingly sweet goo-goo designs. Waitress bases, I'm looking at you. There's nothing wrong with them, but they're not my style.
+ I'm relatively easy on the species, assuming it's an interesting design! all types are good.
- No unnatural colors. I prefer natural color schemes, but may make exception for slightly outlandish color concepts.
+ Single piece, or multi-piece designs are fine. I'm mostly bartering with multi-art piece designs myself.
- Please no rave sparkledogs.
My designs can be found below!

Financial problems, boosted rent, have to sell some designs.
Posted 8 years agoPrices for everything seem to be going up and it hit me off guard this month.
I'm short about $200, so I'm selling a couple designs (or trying.)
I can't part with Barnabe. I just can't.
I don't WANT to sell Ophios, but I don't have much choice in this case.
You can find his imgur gallery here: CLICK. I'm looking to get $150 for him as is, but I'm willing to haggle.
I've also got a roman/arabian hare/al-mi'raj design I'd be willing to part with for $35. Not willing to haggle there.
And my unnamed gypsy crow for $30. He has two pieces you can find in my gallery here and here.
Note me if you're interested.

One more update! PWYW and Catching Up!
Posted 8 years agoIt turns out I need just a little more time to get fully caught up. Getting REKT last month also wrecked my productivity and I am having one HELL of a time trying to find my groove again.
I'd like to have all my things complete before the stream so I'm pushing the monthly PWYW stream to the 15th. That's next Wednesday, it'll go as long as Gabby, Izzie and I can stand for it to go, so even if you're working there's still a good chance you'll be able to get in there.
We'll also be (mostly me because I have none on hand) be opening a Booze Fun for a drunk Saint Patty's Day stream two days later. That stream guarantees you nothing, since we'll most likely be inebriated and scribbling possibly obscene things in lieu of anything adult, lmao.

March PWYW + Updates
Posted 8 years agoSo, that viral flu (as that's the only way to describe whatever that was) wiped me out pretty good last month. I've been recovered for a hot second, but not quite at full function.
Playing catchup now! All owed pieces will be out by the 10th.
The 10th is of course the static date for the PWYW stream day! More on this later!

I'm not dead, just tired, so tired
Posted 8 years agoI'm fighting off whatever this viral thing is that's been bouncing around my people for the last month. Fortunately I did not get it as bad as my brother, but the downside is my energy is for balls.
On top of that, hello monthly visitor.
I will update soon! All those who have yet to receive response from me on their commission forms will be getting a mass email to confirm, but likely will be pushed to next month's batch (however, thank you ALL for your interest, it's been a pretty good, not financially shaky month because of you!)

I need some female designs, looking to trade for 'em!
Posted 8 years agoI realized I don't really have any good designs that are female.
I'm kinda particular with the types of designs I like though. I'm not HUGE on weird pastel, neon or otherwise bright colorations. I will always look at more unconventional beauty standards for female types. So, androgyny, butchier ladies, flawed ladies. I like them.
I'm not looking for anything super elaborate, and I've got no specific wants for species, just sort of fishing.
I'd be trading for one of my unused male designs. Either my corvid guy, or a mythological bunny gladiator I've got! If neither of those appeal, I'd be willing to just trade art for it!
Anyways, comment here!

February Commissions - Open!
Posted 8 years agoThey're open! Should have everything I need to finish done by the end of the weekend, so I'm ready to accept new ones. There are a couple of new additions to this month's commissions!
I'll be opening for 3 pixel portrait commissions. These take a bit longer than the average portrait does (by like, double the time) so there are limited slots and I will be yaying or naying characters that I either don't feel will translate well/may be too complex.
These portraits will run $40, and have their own special option for orders on my form.
Those carryovers from January who have not paid yet, but confirmed interest will be receiving e-mails to make sure the interest is still there and will be rolled over into the first part of the month's commissions.
On the 10th I will be doing a day long PWYW stream and/or same day commissions, so if you want bargain art, that's the day to try and get it. This may also be a multi-stream with two other artist friends, depending on their availability that day. If there are other artists out there who might want to join the fun, feel free to note me! I like drawing with other people whoarebetteraboutpayingattentiontothechatthanmeimeanwhat.
