Halfway There!
Posted 4 years agoHey guys. Good friend of mine is going through a pretty rough time with the different medical conditions that they have to deal with on top of only having an income through commissions. They detail everything in their post here: https://gofund.me/bf97d05a
We both love and appreciate every one of you who have been able to give a little to get him closer to his goals, and he's now more than halfway to his first goal of 13k.
If you're unable to help monetarily that's alright. If you could, at the very least help by spreading the word and this link around then that would mean so much to Sazzy, myself, and the rest that are lucky enough to have him as a friend.
Thank you for your time and assistance from the bottom of our hearts. ♥
(Here's his FA btw too!

Pending Commissions
Posted 5 years agoThis is something that has been suggested to me a few times, but I've not taken the time to actually do as of yet, so Ima do it now because why not?
List of Artists that I'm waiting for Commissions from and their current status':
•
Halybs - Illustration (Awaiting Contact)
Hopefully I'll remember to update this as I receive images and commission more, but we'll see how long I can keep up that habit for. xD

That Actually Happened
Posted 5 years agoWow. I never thought I'd see the day, but I'm pretty much all caught up on art uploads! I've got a few misc pieces here and there that I havnt uploaded yet, but that's mostly because I didnt properly document who the artist was when I got them so now I have no idea who drew them. xD Usually you lot are pretty good at figuring it out for me, so if I cant track them down on my own then I'll just upload them here and edit the submission once one of you informs me who the artist is. xD
I've got a couple pieces in the works though that I'm excited about. All 3 of them are of my newest lad Cisero and will be coming from:
•
Sudo_Poweroff - Finished/Received! ♥
•
Sonsasu - Paid
•
Halybs! - Awaiting Contact
So here's to the next upload then! Oh, and happy new year everyone!

This Guy Needs Some Help
Posted 5 years agohttps://www.furaffinity.net/journal...../#cid:57429492
So this guy right here, Sazzy as I call him, is in a little bit of a pickle. He's a good friend of mine and several other folk, and for the years that I've known him he's been nothing but the humblest of sweethearts. It was already like yanking teeth to get him to post this journal and admit publicly that he might need some help. He doesnt like asking others for help, but right now, like many others, he's not in a place where he can ignore it anymore.
Short and sweet, he's got fibromyalgia. Its a severe enough condition that its left him more often unable to work on the commissions that he has than he's been able to work on them. This causes the poor guy quite a bit if stress, and it becomes a vicious cycle that's both a drain on his physical and mental health. He explains everything in more detail in his journal, but if any of you can spare even a few bucks to help the guy out, really anything is appreciated.
If you feel like you'd like to help the guy out, links that you can donate to him at are in his journal. Thanks to anyone and everyone to even just takes the time to read this. ♥

What's Goin on with Skal IRL? (Updated)
Posted 5 years agoAlright, so I figured that, instead of throwing bits and pieces of all of this to numerous different friends I'd just throw it here instead, since many of you watch me on here anyway.
As several of you know I'm a caretaker for my 86y/o grandmother, much like my friend Ries is for hers. This comes with various responsibilities, but that the one that effects all of you is when I have to randomly get up and leave with little to no explanation. As of late that's been happening very often.
Why?
While we hypothesize that this problem likely started a few weeks ago (Looking back at things), it didnt become a major issue until recently. Plane and simple, my grandmother started hallucinating left and right. Like, hardcore hallucinating. This happened to her a few years ago on the week of my brother's wedding, so we figured that it was the same issue: a UTI. (Google it if you dont know what it is.) Collected a urine sample from her and sent it in, however her doctor prescribed her an antibiotic for the supposed infection even before the results of the test had come back. No problems there. Looking at her medical records, and educated guess would come to the conclusion that a UTI was the cause and he wanted to get the medication in our hands as soon as possible. For that I thank him. However, its 6 days later; she's only gotten worse, and the test came back as negative for a UTI.
OhBoyNowWhatIsIt.jpeg
Over the last few days she has been seeing progressively more things, having conversations with entities that dont exist where she sees them, and refuses to believe us when we tell her that she's hallucinating. She woke me up at 2:30am this morning and asked me to fix her breakfast so that she could go to her appointments. Its Monday. She has no appointments until Wednesday. Got her back to bed after she realized what time it actually was, then proceeded to listen to her talk to imaginary entities for the next 8 hours, unable to fall asleep myself, bringing my grand total of sleep to about 3 hours. In those 8 hours of time she walked all the way to the back door, unlocked, and opened it because she thought there was a little girl running around her house. For an 86y/o that's prone to falling I cant begin to explain how dangerous that is for her to be doing when she has no concept of what's actually going on.
Long story short she's on her way to the hospital right now. We decided to skip the blood work and just take her straight there, hopefully get it done there, and figure out what's actually wrong with her. So if I seem a little distant then y'all know why.
To make things clear I'm not overly depressed about what's going on or worried to stressing out or anything of that nature. I'm pretty ok on that front all things considered. With her at the age that she's at I've come to terms with the realization that she'll be lucky to last until this time next year. I've watched her steady decline over the last 6 years since her husband passed and I'm honestly surprised that she's made it this long.
While the situation is certainly not ideal right now I realize that things could be much worse. Just because I live with her 24/7 doesnt mean that she's safe. I have to sleep some time, and if she gets up in the middle of the night and wanders after some imaginary child and out her door while I'm sleeping there's no amount of calling that she can do that I'm going to hear; or worse yet if she falls and cracks her head on something and knocks herself out. She cant call then.
So yea. Things kinda suck right now, but no amount of worrying or stressing is going to fix that. All I can do is wait to see what's up.
EDIT: Little bit of an update for y'all. She's been admitted to the hospital. IDK how long for. Mother and her are still waiting for a room. They had to sedate grandma because she was getting agitated. Did a CT scan on her and found that there's blood pooling in a section of her brain, which is likely causing pressure and causing the hallucinations. I imagine they'll have to drain it and then monitor her for a few days to make sure that it doesnt com back.
EDIT 2: After some neural scanning along with a bunch of other tests and shit it looks like what was causing the hallucinations was a buildup of ammonia in the liver. From what I'm told, when folk get older they sometimes lose the ability for their digestive system to properly break down meats, and having the undissolved food sit in their system causes a buildup of ammonia. Shes coherent today and will likely be coming home around noonish. They also took her off of several medications, so that will hopefully improve her overall mood as well.
Thank you to those of you who have reached out to me over the last few days with words and actions of support. It was greatly appreciated. ♥

So What's the Deal with this Gecko Girl?
Posted 5 years agoAlright, so, as most of you may have noticed, I've recently acquired a new character, a Gecko girl by the name of Aayin, of which I've been posting a lot of art of. Most of you watched me for the art that I got of Skal, and with the frequency that I've been posting art of Aayin, some of you may be wondering if Aayin is my new 'sona and if she will be replacing Skal.
I can assure you that that is certainly not the case.
Skal will always be the character that I consider to be my 'sona. That's not going to change. However, I will likely end up acquiring more characters during my tenure on this site. Aayin was my third. The second, a naga by the name of Salem, is currently being created by Sazandora. He was the first character in over a decade that I'd genuinely been interested enough in to have brought to life. Ironically, Aayin came into the roster before he did, because she was a spur-of-the-moment purchase from Pixel_Cancer that I'm glad that I didnt pass up. I plan on commissioning more art of the two of them (Salem when his design is finally done) to catch them up to where Skal's at. I've got over 150ish commissions of the green and orange boy, and I think its finally time to give him a rest and let some others have the spotlight for a while.
TL:DR: I'm not replacing Skal, but the amount of art that I get featuring him will likely be toned down for quite a while while I give my two characters Salem and Aayin the spotlight to catch them up. Hopefully you'll come to appreciate them just as much as I do. ^.=.^ ^,=,^ ^. . ^

This Awesome Person Right Here
Posted 5 years agoHey, so, there's this pretty awesome person that just started using their FA account recently. You might recognize them as Aayin's creator!
Well they've recently put in the work to make their profile presentable, which is impressive considering that FA's UI is not very intuitive, and English isnt their first language on top of it (I believe they're Russian!).
OH! AND THEY'RE OPEN FOR COMMISSIONS <---- (PSSST! Click this btw!)
So like, why not head over there and leave them some love, maybe a watch, and maybe consider them for a commission if your usual artist is swamped atm? 🧡

Where Did My Name Come From?
Posted 5 years agoI get asked this on occasion, and it never fails to amuse me how often people are surprised by the origin of Skals name. Everyone just assumes that it came from TES or is inspired by it. That actually couldnt be further from the truth, both literally and figuratively.
See, when I was younger, the first computer game that I really got into was Homeworld. Yes, allllll the way back in 1999. Homeworld GoTY Edition! My fave race in that game was the Taiidan. I just really liked the overall designs of their ships over that of the Kushan (The race you played as in story), especially the designs of their Destoryers, the Ion and Missle Destroyers. Like most folk, when I like something, I like to learn more about it, so I went and found the wiki pages for the different ships of the taiidan and read through them. Eventually I came to this neat little tidbit of information that referred to the Missile Frigate as a "Skaal Fa-class" ship, and its partner, the Ion Destoryer, was a "Skaal Te-class" ship, named after a ferocious bear-like creature of their planet.
'Round this time Skal was still an idea in my head. A form with no name. I really liked that they'd named their ships after a ferocious creature and felt that it fit myself (in reference to depending friends or loved ones.) and by extension Skal, who's personality I'd modeled after my own (This was way before I'd ever gotten into the furry fandom, or even knew of its existence. Skal was originally just an argonian character that I occasionally wrote about). So, I took the name Skaal Tl, dropped the extra A, added a hyphen, and an L on the end, and Skal-Tel was born!
TL;DR: Skal's name is a bastardized spelling of the Skaal Te-class ships from the Homeworld universe! https://homeworld.fandom.com/wiki/Destroyer_(Taiidan)

New Artist on the Block!
Posted 5 years agoHey, so I know this really cool and talented person that just made an FA account to start uploading their stuff. Their name is
Nonexternal!
They do some pretty cool 3D models and such, and I think they can even do rigging if you ask them! They were working on their commission prices and such the last time I checked, so make sure to keep an eye out for that, and maybe even grab a piece or two from them! :D

Time Kinda Flies
Posted 6 years agoDoesnt it?
Just turned the big 3-0 at the beginning of this month and it wasnt until recently when chatting about it with a few friends that I came to the realization that my character Skal is now over a decade old. Well, his concept anyway. If you count my first posting of art of him as his hatchday then he's only been around for 7 years.
Just kinda interesting to think that he's been around for so long, and largely unchanged.
Well, here's to many more I suppose! We'll see how/if he changes in the coming years!

Go Check This Guy Out
Posted 6 years agoWanna grab a YCH but dont want to worry about the bidding going out of your price range? Not to worry! This gentleman here could use a little bit of love. A Static priced YCH is what he offers, and the poor lad doesnt have many followers to boot, so his piece hasnt gotten much attention in the few days thats its been up. So if you've got some spare coin and are looking for something to spend it on, or even just make a spur of the moment purchase, go say high, and if you like their stuff, leave them a follow. ♥

New Artist!
Posted 7 years agoLittle bit of a signal boost for a friend of an artist that I commissioned.
Its always good to see new artists get into the fandom so why not give them a look? Seems like they've got a pretty cute style!

Voice Acting Tips
Posted 7 years agoAlright, so I've been thrown into the wonderful world of DnD, and I've come up with a few characters. Obviously I dont want to use the same voice for all of them, so I've been playing around with different voices and whatnot. However, being someone that has 0 experience in this sort of thing, Im not really sure how to go about contorting my voice into something say, more reptilian, since the character I will be playing next is a Naga Rogue.
My searches on youtube really havnt been of much help in finding what Im looking for, so I figured I'd ask here. Does there happen to be anyone with even a little experience in this kinda thing that can give me some tips on contorting one's voice w/o hurting it? Because right now I feel like a lot of what Im trying to do just ends up with me coughing a lot, which turns into gagging. xD
Probably also doesnt help that Im sick atm. >.=.>

Posted 7 years agoMonster Hunter Worlds came out on PC the other day.
It's pretty fun.
Almost 100 hours in. Beat he MQ round 69 hours. Huehuehue. Could have done it sooner but I did some early game farming.
Anywho, I recommend it. Is my first MH game and I'm enjoying it.

Custom Commission Framing?
Posted 8 years agoI know I could just Google this, but I'd like to keep things in the fandom if at all possible. I've got a few traditional pieces laying around that are of odd sizes that I'd like to have framed. Does anyone happen to know of anyone in the fandom that offers custom framing?
Is it just me?
Posted 8 years agoIs it just me or have their been a lot of discord server journals popping up as of late? By no means am I claiming to have been the first one to do it, but since I created mine back in Sept in the last few months I've seen an influx of journals advertising them, and I don't ever remember seeing them beforehand.
Did something happen to start that that I missed? XD

THAT Side of Skyrim Modding...
Posted 9 years agoSo I was looking for some horn/adornment mods for the argonian for SSE, or even some for regular skyrim that I could use, and my search brought me over to Lovers Lab, except it was THAT side of lovers lab. Ten pages of mods that just made me laugh my ass off and openly ask "What the fuck?".
Just think if all that talent was used on a mod that more than just horny 13 y/os and pimply basement men would download.
Oh well... back to my search!

Titanfall 2 Campaign
Posted 9 years agoSo, I just finished the Titanfall 2 campaign. OMG the feelz for BT. Not going to spoil what happens here for those that havnt finished it or played the game yet, but if you've finished it you know what I mean.
IMO they did a fantastic job portraying a personality onto the titan. Made me really feel like he was sentient and not just following protocols.
I hope there's DLC for the campaign for this, because it feels like it based on how the game ended.
