Last tuesday was not only my birthday, but also the day I was let go from my job.
I was sick with an upper respiratory infection the entire week before last, and even though I called in daily and had doctors notes, my former job's security guards never recorded any of the calls (they're the ones who are in charge of that) even though I spoke to one every day, and I knew exactly who I was speaking to every time. I have the logs in my phone, from my end. I did attempt to go to work thursday of the week I was sick, and HR sent me home bc I was still not feeling well. I clarified with him that I did indeed have doctors notes, and he told me to bring them in when I returned.
Well I returned last tuesday. Well, tried to. I had my notes in hand, and they were kind of weird?? about the whole thing? First I was told "oh let me call A (shortening his name, but he is one of the higher up managers) and see if he wants to speak to you. I said okay. Then they turned around and said I could clock in and go to work, never mind about A. I was like ??? okay? are you sure? and they said yes.
So I try to clock in.
My number was deleted from the system.
"Oh no," they said, "its just your fingerprint! it must be reading wrong."
"No." I said "That says invalid badge. Not some fingerprint read error. Invalid badge means the number is gone."
"Oh don't worry about it you can go to work we'll just write up a time card for you! Go put your stuff in your locker then go downstairs."
So I go to my locker.
Guys, they cut my lock off and gave my locker to someone else. Thank god I never kept anything in my locker beyond my shift.
I was pissed, but I told the guard and said I needed to leave my stuff with him bc of the locker situation. I made an attempt to work. I got angrier, and angrier, and angrier as time passed.
So I asked to speak to HR, who I'll call M, on my first break, at around 8AM. They said sure, he's in!
I normally was on pretty good terms with M. I thought things were fine.
Well the bullshit about the call logs came up, so I showed him my phone. I showed him every single call I made. I asked him if he remembered the talk we had on thursday before he let me go home. I could tell he was done with the subject before it even started. "it doesn't match up with our logs though." he said. I looked at him, so confused.
So they took every single day I was out as a no-call, no-show. Their attendance policy (a point system which is such a joke.) deems two no-calls, no-shows as cause instant termination.
So I was fired on my birthday. They still tried to get me to work. I don't even know if I'll be paid for that day. I left at noon.
I do have another job lined up, however I am in dire straights until I get my first paycheck which most likely wont be until the 2nd week in october. My student loan payment came out, and it literally wiped my bank account clean. I was behind on a payment as it was, and I did call the company I deal w/ for loans but all they could do was put a forbearance on my future payments. So I'm now -$600 from that, due to the payment amount, my other bills and overdrafts. It is entirely my fault for being behind anyway, I won't deny that.
Please understand I am working on commissions. I know so many of you have been waiting for SO long and it is entirely unreasonable to keep you all waiting. I am in need of help. I'm honestly at the point I'm just trying to pay my phone bill today and my car insurance by the end of the week.
I will need to keep my commissions open. I hate to do that, as I like to clean my plate of what I have first, but I'm at a loss for what to do. I am working on my backlog now, but I need to make at least a little bit this week and next to get me by. I know I ask of it a lot, but I would love it if you guys could bear with me for a little longer. ;;

As you all may notice, I don't really upload much here. I'm more of a lurker for the time being. Partially due to the hours I work now and figuring out schooling stuff!

its been a while. long story short, i've got two part time jobs, and i'm taking college courses again to get my degree.
i'm hardly home because of my jobs, and with school in the mix thats..where all my art time goes.
so, i'm giving out refunds. I appreciate the patience you've all had with me, and put up with me for so long with these commissions.
I realize that freelance work isn't what I should be doing at this time. I don't even have time to get myself some peace, I haven't really been able to relax in several months. I apologize for the lengthy, ridiculous wait you've all had to endure. I really need to sort myself out, I know. So, I'm going to do that.
I'm going to be going through my notes and sending out refund notices to those who have commissioned me.
I am hoping to get posting again, just small personal sketches and paintings and whatever projects I have for school. I really just wanna be active in the community again and get out of this "i'm scared to post my art" thing aaaa q_q i think if i make it a point to upload something at least once a week i can get over my anxiety about it.
anywho, thanks guys!

wanted to update you guys quickly since there's been a huge lack of art and i know i have commissioners waiting on me!
things got crazy, work isn't doing my health any good. i'm not gonna get into it too much but my anxiety got so bad that i actually stepped down from my position as a supervisor two days ago, and i'm now a regular worker. i've also got an interview at the library in town for a part time position. luckily enough, I have time to actually sit down and complete my commissions this week since i only work one day this week. i'm probably not going to take anymore after that? I hope not to, really. my turnarounds are atrocious tbh and its something i need to work on terribly. its not fair to those of you waiting. ;; i appreciate the patience immensely!
i probably won't have much time to take on any more commissions honestly. i'm hoping my interview goes well and that i get job. the part time position at the library won't be enough income for all my needs, so i'll unfortunately still be working at the hotel as well. i'm kinda hoping the part time gig turns into a full time thing eventually. that'd be awesome and it would be so much better for my anxiety and stress levels. ;u; any art from here on out i would like to aim at bettering my skills - especially with environments! i'd like to have more ~substance~ in my art if that makes sense! make it really feel whole, you know?
other than that...eh. i don't really know. i've kinda just been floating through things on autopilot.
here is my trello for mini commissions tho! you guys can keep an eye on that throughout the week and track the progress! I'm sketching my heart out today so they should all be sketched out by tonight!! i will offer refunds to anyone who would rather not wait though!

Posted 10 years agowoah i didnt realize its been that long since i opened those minis. I am so, so sorry guys! Work was way more hectic than anticipated, and a few things happened at work that really made me spiral into a super negative state of mind and I had a bit of a breakdown where I totally shut myself off for a while, if that makes sense. I'm back on track emotionally and have been actively making an effort to have a better/more positive mindset, and not let things get in the way of my work. I can't let it keep happening, its not healthy and not fair to you guys.
I'm very prone to falling face first into negativity and letting it consume me. Well, thanks to help from a friend I'm making an effort to stay positive. Its VERY hard to fight off negativity without help. I had been contemplating seeking out a counselor/therapist but I'm so nervous about it. I was put on medications once before by a doctor and the ways they affected me were not good. I don't like the idea of having a dependency again. I want so badly to just be able to cope on my own and work out things myself. I struggle with feeling like a burden 90% of the time. I default to feeling like a letdown and feeling like I've done something wrong constantly, feeling like I don't deserve much and its all self-inflicted and stems from living in a negative environment for most of my life. It was getting really bad, and yeah its still not great but its getting better. Slowly but surely I've been taking baby steps to being more positive and believing that I am okay, that I'm better than I previously thought I was. Its getting easier to smile again, and that makes me happy. I'm also finally taking steps to getting a new job. I've put my application in for a library clerk position, and I have an exam to take for in in february, so I've got plenty of time to study. I'm really excited! It may not be art related, but its not going to be as stressful as my current job. The tasks involved are right up my alley, plus I get to be around books and a relatively quiet environment so ITS PERFECT.
I was planning to catch up on my queue starting on saturday, but a family member needed my help this weekend so my plans were pretty much shot. \= I'm playing catch up now, though! I'm getting everything thumbnailed/sketched out tonight and will send those out for approval so I have at least SOMETHING to show for my stupid absence ;; thank you for your continued patience with me and thank you all for not giving up on me!

My unemployement got screwed up, my car broke (still waiting on the part to gET HERE SO WE CAN FIX IT) and it all happened while i was out of work for the past two weeks. quick update!
Posted 10 years agoi wanted to pop in to say that i came down with a really wicked cold that has left me super dizzy and feeling cruddy for the past few days. I can still sketch on paper, but digital art is pretty difficult and takes twice as long because I can't focus. I'm on the mend, but I just wanted to give an update so commissioners aren't left wondering where their art is. Today is also my last day of work until next week so I am going to be catching up and uploading a lot of stuff in the next few days! I'm still getting dizzy spells and have a headache, if it doesnt go away by tomorrow I will be going to get it checked out. I can't take feeling lightheaded and unbalanced like this @_@ it sucks lol

Do you work or are you a student: I work in the hospitality industry at a local resort and I Hate It. I'd love to do art as a living but I don't have the time to dedicate to it full time, so I do part time freelancing. I also am trying to get a job as a Library Page/Clerk if possible!!
What do you do well: I am very good at organizing I'd like to think!! Especially when it comes to documents/paperwork. I like to keep things very easily readable and organized so that I'm not looking for a specific thing forever. The way my mind works isnt very linear and being that I'm an anxious mess 97% of the time I have to keep myself busy so I bounce from task to task. If I have a clear list that is easy to follow I do a lot better. I actually have a notepad where I have to write tasks down that I need/want to complete for everything. art, videogames, work, you name it, I'll likely have it written down.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years: the future is scary and I don't have a solid answer for this. I just want to have an inner peace and be able to accept myself and not feel Gloom and Doom all the time.

Do you work or are you a student: I work in the hospitality industry at a local resort and I Hate It. I'd love to do art as a living but I don't have the time to dedicate to it full time, so I do part time freelancing. I also am trying to get a job as a Library Page/Clerk if possible!!
What do you do well: I am very good at organizing I'd like to think!! Especially when it comes to documents/paperwork. I like to keep things very easily readable and organized so that I'm not looking for a specific thing forever. The way my mind works isnt very linear and being that I'm an anxious mess 97% of the time I have to keep myself busy so I bounce from task to task. If I have a clear list that is easy to follow I do a lot better. I actually have a notepad where I have to write tasks down that I need/want to complete for everything. art, videogames, work, you name it, I'll likely have it written down.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years: the future is scary and I don't have a solid answer for this. I just want to have an inner peace and be able to accept myself and not feel Gloom and Doom all the time.

been dealing with anxiety issues, stress and whatnot which really threw me for a loop, putting me back to a pretty bad place.

i'm now open for icon commissions! they're $14 per icon.
I have an entire week off of work to focus on commissions and the other projects i've been hired for c: gonna be great!!

Posted 11 years agoAs I work steadily through my list, I've decided to take a break from commissions for a while after my current queue is finished. I need to work on some things in my art, and I also have been fortunate enough to be hired for two projects as a creature designer. =) Its extremely exciting, and after my current commissions queue is finished I would like to settle into those projects and get a nice steady system for myself. Once I do that, if I have time and the need to I will open up for a few commission slots once in a while. I'm also taking the break as an opportunity to focus on my patreon and upload content there more regularly. I've got a time-lapse video of the "COURT JESTER" speedpaint I did that I need to upload at the end of this week. Video editing is something I need to get more familiar with haha.
There's a lot going on right now, but I feel like I'm heading in a good direction so far. Most of the things are good things! My other non-art job is still very taxing to my energy, and I find it harder and harder to enjoy it. I'm hanging in there for as long as I can, but ideally I'd like to quit before june if I can afford to and take the plunge into full-time freelance art. For that I need to work on my turnaround times, I really REALLY need to work on my turnaround times lol.

NEED ADVICE: BUYING A NEW DESKTOP

Last weekend my boyfriend and I went away for some dirtbiking and fishing and stuff! It was a nice trip and a much needed getaway, however I returned to a lot of headache and stress @N@ I shut my desktop computer off before I left, and didn't get the chance to turn it on until two days after my return due to work and dirtbike maintainence and all kinds of things. Anyway, I finally sat down to work on some projects because my desktop is a hell of a lot better than my laptop - color wise, performance wise, EVERYTHING.
Welp.
It wouldn't turn on.
The tower did - the power light and the fans came on, but nothing else - monitor, keyboard, mouse...nothing.
Then I tried to turn it off - it wouldn't turn off via the power button. I had to actually unplug the computer to turn it off. I did some research online to troubleshoot the problem. I tried everything I could possibly find and after a week, I still can't get it to turn on. The problem could be anything from RAM, to PSU, to the motherboard.
Its not the RAM. I checked that. So its either PSU or Motherboard. So I sat down with my boyfriend and discussed options. Replacing the PSU wouldn't be too bad, but if thats not the problem then its better to just replace the entire computer. HOWEVER replacing the PSU was gonna be a bit of a pain because its rather different than the other power supplies I've seen. Not nearly as big as the ones I've seen in many other computers, including my boyfriend's.
I was planning on upgrading some components anyway to further optimize my computer - especially the graphic's card. TURNS OUT I CAN'T DO THAT ANYWAY. :L So my boyfriend just suggested to get a new computer - specifically a new tower. Problem is that I get so, sO LOST LOOKING FOR COMPUTERS??? OMG??? THERE ARE SO MANY OPTIONS.
I know a gaming computer would be basically perfect. I've found a couple via amazon for around $400-$500. (they're on sale too WHEEE) and I'd love to get one that is ...actually windows 7 not windows 8 @_@ so I think!! I'm gonna aim to get this one:

I'd just like some input! May's commission slots are now officially closed. Any slots that were NOT paid for are now cancelled and no more slots will be accepted from this point on unless otherwise announced.
All commissions on my list have been sketched out. I will be finishing them over the next two weeks. Progress has been slower than expected, but the past couple of weeks has been pretty crazy for me. I'm most likely getting a new job soon, I start training later this week for it. Its a paid trial period to see if I'm suitable for the job, but if I get this job I may not be opening commissions for quite some time again, because this is full time work and I'll be gone a good portion of the day! So my time will be fairly limited. Again, its still up in the air for the most part, but it seems like they really like me so I'm keeping my fingers crossed! The pay will be much better than my current part time job. I'll miss doing commissions but it'll get me set up to start classes again at CGMA in the fall ;v; which is what i've been trying really hard to set myself up for but, you know...bills.
It will also be much better because I won't be working with people. I'll be working with horses!! And thats really exciting because its something I've missed. A lot. Ever since I had to give up my horses for college, I've regretted it. I've kicked myself for it and I miss my boys every day. ;; It'll be a little different than having my own, but it'll be close enough. <3 I got to meet the owners and the horses yesterday, and the three of them were all so sweet, each has their own vices (one is a bit mouthy/bitey and the other has a bit of a barn-sourness problem, but my boys were a bit like that as well so its nothing I can't handle and I'm not worried about!)
There's a chance I might still get to take commissions, but my priority will be this new job for sure, if I can get it. I just really want to get out of this part time job. I'm tired of working with entitled people and I'm tired of this job in general. 5ish years of the same bullshit - busting my ass to do the best I can for these people, including overtime and being underpaid for design work/artwork and such and not even a thank you...yet all these people hired last year now have a pay raise. Tired of it. Done with it.
SO YEAH ANYWAY thats about it. haha.
