DELAYS
Posted 11 years agoHello everyone!
I'm going to cut to the chase with this, things have been pretty hectic and stressful and this is the reason for lack of progress on my commission queue. Things are now smoothing out for the most part, and work on commissions will continue tomorrow. I apologize for the delay, it was unexpected and its been very frustrating to say the least. =(
Thank you for the continued patience! I am working as quickly as possible to get all of the owed artwork to people! I don't want to keep you guys waiting any longer!

MINIS CLOSED AGAIN
Posted 11 years agoThank you so much everyone! I really can't begin to explain how much I appreciate all the interest!
They will be open again as soon as I finish these two batches. =) I've had to take a break for the past couple of days because my fingers have been aching a lot to the point that it hurts to bend them. I think it just calls for a few more breaks throughout the day as I work. I dunno, I'm still trying to get a schedule down for myself and trying not to overwork myself too much (which is difficult because I just love drawing so much thats literally all I want to do all day long!!)
I will probably be buying adspace here again when I get close to finishing these two batches. I'd like to open up for a couple of larger commissions next time.
All of the first batch is sketched out, I just need to finish them!! So everyone will be getting emails/notes with their images within the next couple of days! I apologize for the delay. Like I said, hand hurts. Can't really work if I can't bend my fingers. >:

ART TWITTER + COMMISSIONS OPEN
Posted 12 years agohey guys!
still a busy bee here! however its more or less playing catch up! I'm making decent progress thus far for what's left on my queue! I'm keeping my commissions open though, but for smaller commissions. Sketches, icons, speedpaints and sketch pages are open! If you'd like one please comment here or e-mail me at skellriart[at]gmail.com I could definitely use the funds, so signal boosts are muchly appreciated! I'll be re-uploading my price list as well so if you see that again, I'm sorry haha!
I have also made a twitter for art updates! I'll be updating it daily, even if its just to throw some sketches up there every day!~
http://www.twitter.com/skellriart I may offer some commission specials on there as well c:
In other news, my boyfriend and I are finally discussing getting our own place! And we're moving to North Carolina to do so! I haven't told most of my family and I'm kind keeping it under wraps until we find a place, because my part time job will royally screw me hour-wise so that I can't save up the money :( They're spiteful like that. Anyway, its really exciting as I've wanted to move there since I first visited my relatives that live there in 2006. There are a lot of work opportunities for my boyfriend, which is our main reason for moving because he has virtually no work where we live because the winters are so harsh. That and our community is not growing at all from an economical standpoint. Basically there are two places to find work - a grocery store and the hotel that i work at. And its piddlyfuck wages too.
So this will be wonderful for us, I think! We've got a general idea of what area we wanna move to, but we're gonna save up a decent lump of money to go there with so we're set for at least a few months, ideally. We're aiming to get out of here by April at the latest. So commissions are definitely remaining open and I'm putting in more hours at my part time job (despite the stress, it'll be easier to save the money)

BUSY BUSY BEE
Posted 12 years agoThats me!
I hope everyone had wonderful holidays!
I apologize for the delays in art. I've been quite busy. I'm slowly working on owed art, and hope to catch up and complete everything by the end of next week!
My part time job was insane with the holidays. I've come to realize this job is just not for me. Too much drama, coworkers don't take their jobs seriously, and people like myself - who like to help out when they can and try their best to please management/the higher-ups - get taken advantage of, severely. I'm actually contemplating quitting when February rolls around. Or at least cutting myself down to no more than two days per week or something. I have a second job now anyway as an artist on the pet site Sylestia (I do pet genes and mutations for the most part! ;v;) and I'm much happier with that. To be honest I just want my main focus to be art, not this dead-end job at a hotel. I dread going to work every day, and I come home angry and frustrated. Its very unhealthy. However the extra cash is nice, and thats about the only reason that I haven't quit yet. Simply put, I'm much happier working on commissions and at Sylestia!
February I'll also be starting classes with CGMA, which is super exciting! However I've got to decide what to do in regards to the whole...employment situation. Oi @_@

COMMISSIONS STILL OPEN + WHERE ELSE TO FIND ME
Posted 12 years agoEveryone's probably sick of seeing these journals but the FA downtime really scared me not gonna lie sjdgjks. It was just really ill-timed seeing as I'm in need of work especially this time of the year, and with everything going on - I had to dip into my savings for food/other necessities, as well as Christmas shopping (what little I had to do) so I'm behind on my CGMA savings! =( Commissions are still open, and will continue to be open! However I am NOT taking any more reserves, I simply can't afford to at them moment.
I will be reuploading my price list with my TOS and an Order Form included. I will not be accepting commissions via note any longer. This process will make it much easier and much more organized. So after I finish this last commission that I took via note, I will be disabling them indefinitely.
From now on I'll only take commission inquiries via e-mail and the order form that i'll be posting up later must be filled out uvu
Now, for other places to contact me! Firstly, there is my e-mail, especially if you need to get ahold of me quickly!
skellriart[at]gmail.com
Now for the other places:

Weasyl: http://www.weasyl.com/profile/skellri
Art blog: http://skellriart.tumblr.com
Personal blog: http://skellri.tumblr.com
Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/skellri
(i'll probably make an art-only twitter as well because I really am nonsensical and just kind of rabble on my twitter/personal blog. my personal blog is mostly reblogs of fandom things and my daily rabbles on occassion sO YEAH if you're more interested in the art, just follow the art only stuff uvu most of the uploads I do will be crossposted everywhere else, but I'll try to update my tumblr with more WIPs and doodles and such.)
Aaand that's all for now! ;u;

GREETINGS update + online courses (hopefully) soon oop!!
Posted 12 years agoHello hello everyone!
Thank you and hello to all of my new watchers! I'm assuming most of you found me through my ad, which is great! ;w; Glad to have you all here! I am sorry for the lack of new things, but I've got a lot of WIPs to get through. I'm bogged down with my part time job again, but thankfully its a fairly slow week so I can do all the tasks I need to do at work and then I can spend the rest of the day drawing and whatnot as long as I don't have guests to attend to.
Commissions are open, and will remain open. The place I work at is closing for two weeks, and reopening Christmas week. Talk about ill-timed, yeesh. x_x I'm unable to buy too many gifts for people, which I feel awful about, but such is life I guess? :( I dunno, I've been in an emotional/self esteem funk lately so my self worth is pretty low as it is. To not be able to give gifts to the people I care about...I'm tired of it. I know Christmas shouldnt be solely about gifts but I like to give back. So I'm gonna try!
It just makes it hard, being that I'm saving for online courses with CGMA starting in february. I'm basically gonna start from square one - the fundementals - and go through the entire curriculum for Character Design. I'm really excited, I'm just hoping to be able to save the money in time! I have until January 4th, and registration closes January 31st. I'm only registering for one class, but I'd like to continue saving up so I have enough saved to keep continuing! I'm just...super stoked. Oh my goodness. ;u; I will get a certificate at the end of the curriculum, its not a Bachelor's Degree or Associate's degree, but its still a certificate saying I completed it - which means more than anything.
Being that I had to drop out of the college I used to attend due to financial strain and well, lack of funds whatsoever because my parents stopped helping me more and more as the years went on, and loans/grants were unobtainable for me, I have felt like a total failure for it. I never give up on the things I truly want in life - and I really want this career. I want it more than anything. I want to be happy with my career choices and I want to be comfortable, not stuck at a dead-end job for the rest of my life.
Working on the commissions I get here makes me so happy. It really does. The amount I get doesn't even matter, its just the fact that I completely zone out and get immersed in the drawings I do and I love them, and so far the people i've drawn them for really like them too! and it motivates me to keep going with this - to improve and keep moving forward.
Long story short, (actually i forgot where i left off with this journal entry because i got sidetracked with other things oops!) I'm keeping a counter at the bottom of my journal and on my profile for my CGMA fund. ;u; I also wanted to make a journal just to touch base with you guys and say hi and such!!

Winter project: Skellri Suit
Posted 12 years agoYeah I've been debating this for a long time due to insecurities and some anxieties regarding it, but I'm gonna do it! I'm going to make a partial suit of my fursona! ;w; Halloween really kinda sealed the deal for me. I was at work and I was the only one who didn't dress up in my department. I realize with all the events that my department holds and all the things that go on at the hotel in general, suiting would be really fun!
I was so nervous about it for a long time because I'm 99% sure that there are no other furries in the immediate area. I know there are some about an hour or two away from here, but I live in the middle of nowhere. Artists are difficult to find, and thus there's really no conventions or anything taking place super close (AnthroCon is the closest I think, but thats 5+ hours from me fgkfh)
Anywho, I wasn't really overly sure on how well a fursuit would be received. Closed-minded, relatively close knit community here and all. My family loves the idea, as does Rhett, and my coworkers that I've spoken to about it also seem to have some interest too! We have a few holiday parades and such around here throughout the year, so it'd be something for me to do other than just go to work and come home.
It's only going to be a partial, I have dehydration issues so I dont think a fullsuit is a good idea sjkdkd. I'm going to be making it myself, so I'm pretty nervous. Not sure what kind of eyes to use - 3D or regular 2D. I'm probably going to just use 2D??? I'm not sure I JUST??? have no idea. sjdkgkdg.
Right now I'm in the planning process. My part time job is far too crazy right now, since I'm now doing buttloads of paperwork and organizing in my department. It needs to be done though, we're in a state of disorganized chaos and I can't stand it, I want things to run smoothly for everyone in our department, so I volunteered to help out and its giving me some extra hours and a possibly pay raise in the spring too. Once I get everything smoothed out and get the other departments to just dO WHAT THEY NEED TO DO SO WE CAN GET THINGS SETTLED....then I can focus on art and this suit project again ;u;
I'll be getting a price list up soon for commissions, since I'm basically pulling a double whammy and trying to save for the materials/supplies for the suit project, as well as school @_@ I have money saved up for the first semester which I'll be starting in the spring as well, but yIKES so many plans!! I just gotta stick to my guns and keep moving forward~

UPDATES + new artist on FA!!
Posted 12 years agoHi everyone.
Lack of uploads, yes I know ;; I tried to make a point to upload more frequently and keep an art flow going, but unfortunately I can't churn out art anywhere near as quick. I can draw, but its an extremely slow process.
I'm not sure if I've made it public before but I suffer from bursitis in my left shoulder. Bursitis is Its extremely painful, and the pain never really stops honestly. I have days where I have less pain, and days where I have more. Lately, its been the latter. I've suffered with this for roughly five years. I've gotten cortisone injections to treat it in the past, but now I lack the health insurance to do so. I have a shoulder brace that I used when I was being treated so I could still do the activities I love like riding my dirt bike and horseback riding and such, but I've been wearing it simply so I can sit up and draw, as well as function at work.
However, my supervisor seems to think this isn't a legit injury. My manager and pretty much everyone else that is staff at this resort understand completely, but my supervisor has a tendency to go out of her way to make me do things that will cause the pain to flare up. Its happened once - it is the first and last time its happening. There's a lot of bullshit drama in regards to my supervisor as is. Nobody is really happy with her and she's on such a power trip that we're all disgusted. My manager doesn't see it though (she thinks that my supervisor is the greatest thing to happen to our department), however I'm on good terms with the owner's son, so I'll be bringing this to his attention as well. uvu
I am currently working on a new commission price list as well as a new ad for FA =) Its just very difficult to pick the art I want to showcase on my ad! Eep!! I also have a TOS set up, and I'm basically gearing myself up for commissions. The resort I work at has a few weeks where it shuts down, and we're left without work for those weeks unless they really need us there. That won't apply for my department. So yeah, keep an eye out!
Also, a friend of mine just joined FA and she's got a really cute adoptable up for auction!! GO LOOK!! ;w;
go give Nef a warm welcome and help spread the word about her cute adoptable for sale as well! She could use the money <3
Sorry for the really disjointed journal. My mind is all over the place and I can't focus very well because of the pain. =( I just wanna sleep in all honesty but I can't bring myself to waste my days off like that!

Bad news: no more college.
Posted 12 years agoYeah. College isn't happening. I'm about 99% sure of it.
Just when I thought I had everything sorted out and paid for,
they threw a $4,000 bill in my face the week before I have to move in.
Pretty bummed, so much money thrown out the window.
Gonna research some other potential options, I am so sick of this school
I don't even want to go back. I would rather go elsewhere, but
its so unaffordable.
I don't want to stop chasing my dream though ;~; I want to be a concept artist/animator.
So badly. So, so badly.

Posted 12 years agoSorry for the delay on those sketches, guys.
I came down with a cold over the weekend, so I'm battling with that.
Please bear with me, I am trying to kick this cold to the curb as quickly as possible.
At this point, staying awake is a struggle in itself. Guh.

At this point, staying awake is a struggle in itself. Guh.

EMERGENCY COLLAB COMMISSIONS, PLEASE READ!
Posted 12 years agoHey guys!
Trying to get settled into my new account here ;u;
Kicking this off with uh...not so good news? The costs of my school went up, and my financial aid amounts ironically enough were lessened. I need to raise as close to $2,250 as I can by August 22nd. I got a new part time job as some of you may know, but its just not enough. My boyfriend is out of work at the moment, and any money he has goes toward his mother's house and making sure that we all have a roof over our heads and a few luxuries such as cable, phone, and internet. However, things became a little more strained this week, as his mother broke her ankle at the beginning of the week. So my paychecks now go toward groceries and such since she needs to focus her finances on her medical bills and making sure she does what she needs to do. I really don't mind helping out, however its got me scrambling as far as school goes.
It boiled down to the fact that I may not be able to go, because I'm having a lot of trouble getting a loan and I've gotten no word back about the scholarships I've applied for. So Monday I will be contacting my school to figure out some kind of payment options. I really don't want to give up now, I've got this year and one year left after that, so I'd really like to finish it out ;; My dear friend
is so kind to extend a helping hand my way and offered to do collab commissions with me! Her art is so lovely, and I want to help her get some cash flow her way as well ;u;
So we're offering digital illustration commissions! I will be doing the sketch/lineart stages, and she will be doing the coloring and the rest. Please send me a note or an email with a quick description of what you’d like for us to draw, any references we would need, and a background idea. My email is toxicfossils[at]gmail.com (its also my paypal. All payments are upfront, thanks!) The base price is $60, and its an extra $20 per extra character added to the image. I'll pass the info onto Choo after I work out the info and get a sketch started. Any signal boosts are muchly appreciated! Please visit my gallery (or my old gallery here riskyy) and Choo's gallery
for more examples of our work.
Thanks for looking!!
