Y'all remember him? My prototype cat tv head I made to try my hand at making a sorta fursuit head? Well he's dead. The first head i made was such a disaster that he was a chore to wear, far too big, and fell apart in storage. So! i salvaged as much minky and foam as i could from him and from the ashes is proto 2.0! Been workin' on him since yesterday n i almost have the base done and furred. Just need to remake his screen n ears then add just a touch more foam to the inside to make the fit more snug and get it up off my shoulders and i also need ro remake his ears bc tbh his first ones are Hideous and the seams and hot glue chunks are so noticeable
This time around im using alot less hot glue n stitching the fur down so its much more stable this time around n im less nervous that basic handling will make him fall to pieces. And he isnt as wobbly n threatening to implode as before.

Got another week long trip in acouple weeks w/ The Family which is anxiety inducing bc I still need to get a proper day job

but on the bright side, I've gotten some more work! One of my friends commissioned some stuff n the sibling unit wants to commission some character sheets so I'm happy

I'm taking a trip down to visit my boyfriendo for a week, then roadtrip home with him after. I'm excited and terrified! he's moving up to my state and will be within a reasonable driving distance once he gets his own place and!! Idk what to do w/ myself my emotions are all over the place.

on one hand, once he gets here we're both gonna haveta go job hunting and find him a place to live mostly because Someone who lives w/ me doesn't seem to keen on the idea of him living here for that long.

which is fair 'n all but i hope they aren't too obnoxious about "when are you gonna find a place and get out?"

Like, if I were to make a brand of robot adopts that were a closed species kinda, maybe I could sell "kits" that are way cheaper than normal adopts that have a certain set of traits/colors/ect. to pick from, and sometimes you'll get bonus parts or pieces that are more rare.

Like, say you wanna make a bunny bot of the theoretical closed species, but none are up for adoption n you really don't feel like just doing a Make Your Own bc you can't decide what traits you want/you want some more uncommon/rare parts

so, you buy a kit! it will have all the essentials you need to make the bunny robot, but diff traits will be randomized (screen style, the way the joints look, body lines, decals, ect. ect.) and you'll be able to make the bot you want from that!

though there could also be the option to pick n choose what parts you want, though that eliminates the chance for the randomizer to spit out a fancier pair of legs or a mega rare head.

they'd be cheap and quick to make because I'd just have a set of resources I'd randomize n say "ok, you get body type A, screen type D, and for the bonus parts you get heart decals and a spare tail of this kind," but I don't have to draw the new bot, you do. so I can sell them for way cheaper than a full adoptable. and plus, I could easily put in the occasional expensive/rare part in random kits like "ok you got a standard dog bot kit but what's this!! you got a really cool screen or decal set! nice!" and it's all just extra freebies so it's not like a lootbox situation.

though I might make things where you can just buy the part you want lmao bc that'd make everyone's life easier.

and also make-your-own slots would be cheap/free as long as you go by the guidelines of "hey these traits/parts are rare and shit and unless you pay for the part you can't have it on your bot but everything else is free game"

like, it could get a smidge complicated at times but overall I think it'd be a cute idea.

n i don't blame anyone for my lack o commissions obvi, y'all got your own bills to pay n things to worry bout. Eat first, get art last.

just wish i had atleast some more consistent income from doing art lmao. even if it was only a commission a week, it'd still be abit in the right direction.

this past week my boyfriendo of several months managed to make the trip n come across like 3 states to visit me
we were attatched at the hip all week n got all teary eyed when he had to go
but!
I can now work on any commissions n things!
I got several inquiries while i was on vacation n it really took me by surprise @w@;

I may end up making a sort of "form" for people to fill out when they wanna commission me, to sorta speed up the process.
that way I can go straight to workin' on it once everything is agreed upon

n for anyone new to commissioning me: here's how payment typically goes the first few times I do commissions for you:

-After all the details have been settled n we've agreed on a price, I'll get straight to work on the finished pieces
-WIPs can be provided at the commissioner's request
-Typically if I can't decide between one or two thumbnails on what should become the finished pieces, I'll ask the commissioner which they like better. though they're allowed to keep the v unfinished doodle-y sketch if they want
-once the art is done, I'll send a small, slightly pixelated thumbnail of the finished art. to prove it's been completed, and so the customer can get a general idea of the composition and everything n give it the green light
-money is exchanged
-the full res art piece is given to the commissioner
-everybody's happy

I know it probs seems abit convoluted, but it's just so neither me nor the commissioner get worried about being ripped off. and if anything happens that prevents me from finishing the pieces (such as my tablet breaking or my laptop finally giving out on me) then the commissioner doesn't have to worry about waiting on a refund.

so, I'll be all quiet til monday probs

toooo make a fursuit of my fursona

Y'see, I did some research on what most people use for fursuit eyes

n there's this one kinda Buckram that is v good for lighter colors, though it's not go great visibility.

but there's other kinda stuff that works better for visibility, but doesn't look good in lighter colors.

N you notice my fursona's screen is light pinkish, BUT has dark red/maroon eyes/whiskers,ect. SO maybe I can combine the two!

Use the lighter buckram for the bulk of the screen, and then cut out parts that'll be made of the darker buckram.

aaaand idk maybe I'll add some sorta clear film or plastic sheet over that to make it look more like a screen if I don't feel like it looks quite right

the overall design is simple enough that my dumb ass can't fuck it up. It's literally a box, a smaller box, and then there's the screen bit. The screen itself will be sandwiched between the main "box" where my head is and a frame on the front that has the side fluff, ears and buttons ect. ect.

I know making it myself would be Infinitely more inexpensive but I also am bad at things and feel like commissioning a fursuit maker would be smarter

though I doubt my character is the first TV headed fursona like this but IDK if there's been a fursuit like this made before. though I have seen a typical Object Head style TV with ears on it and a tail on the cosplayer s o

sorry for all the inactivity. been having some bad art block and a not so great time of things. hopefully though I'll be able to return to your regularly scheduled robot cat doodles.

The more I think about how I'd turn my 'sona into a fursuit the more I realize it'd be a massive headache to get it to be "functional" really

or atleast comfortable to wear and good looking

the overall shape is easy as tits, basically two boxes with a frame on the front n triangles on top, though the issue comes in w/ the screen

bc idk how the FUCK I'd be able to see

making the whole screen a light colored mesh would look...not gr8... there's a reason why the mesh part of the eye for 90% of suits is black or a dark color, or has color and designs on it so you don't notice how mesh-y it looks.

theoretically I could make the whole thing foam/plastic/whatevs n have a darker mesh over the eyebrows, eyes, nose, n whiskers, but idk how it'd look or if I'd even be able to see that well out of the small openings

esp. since my head would be probs alil farther back from the front of the head so it A. doesn't look weird n B. doesn't feel too unbalanced to wear

and I kinda think it'd be cool if the front frame could pop off w/magnets or somethin n be replaced w/ diff expressions n shiz that'd be hella fuckin' coolio

and ventilation would be a problem

if I had the cash and know-how, i could maaaybe put in fans for ventilaton, though it might look kinda funny. Though my other idea of making openings of sorts right under her chin n hope nobody notices would look equally funny. atleast I'd be able to take a sip of water or something tho...

why didn't i just make her screen blaaaack that would have made my life so much easiiieeeeeeerrrr
