Struggling a bit with an OC concept
Posted a month agoIt's something that's been on my mind for some time now.
While I was chatting and bouncing ideas with Kasdal months ago, I started considering the possibility of creating a big, curvy female Sergal pred, having been very inspired by his own Sergal art. And when I say big, I mean "about as tall as Jack", with an appetite to match. After all, I used to have a Sergal OC of my own a long time ago, and I always loved the way Walter Sache used to draw them at the time (which is what prompted me to create one back then in the first place, actually).
I kinda over-fixated over that character concept for the next few days... Then I completely dropped it. Maybe I felt burnt-out from thinking about her nonstop and lost interest as suddenly as it had arisen.
Then, I started thinking of something similar with a Synx instead of a sergal, and even sketched a concept pic that I'm still pretty proud of. But, once again, it didn't really stick.
First a Sergal, then a Synx, then I had similar ideas involving one of the curvier takes on everyone's favorite SCP, MalO, or those ludicrously curvy Backrooms Smilers such as Ace Rattman's Karelia or GoatDevilwhite17's Chelsea. It even got me thinking again about that one Wendigo OC of mine from 5 years ago but, again, nothing really came out of it.
It led me to the realization that all those concepts kinda have a common root, though; they can all be boiled down to the concept of a huge, very curvy carnivorous monster with a massive appetite and the potential to be wickedly seductive despite (or, rather, because) of her "monstrous" looks.
It's a concept that really scratches an itch to me and, since I already have quite a lot of OCs, if I'm creating a new one, I want it to be something special that stands out on its own. I just don't know exactly what to do with this concept and what design I could potentially go for, beyond the general idea of "giant dummy thicc monster mommy who may or may not have a skull for a face".
Hopefully, I'll figure it out. I'd really like to be able to come up with something that would make me feel the same kind of enthusiasm towards that potential OC as the one I feel towards Jack or Océane for example.

Going back to traditional art
Posted 9 months agoI've been struggling a lot with art lately, as you can tell from the lack of personal pieces in my recent uploads. I'm no stranger to art blocks; they come and go, but the one I've been dealing with those past few months is definitely one of the nastiest I've had.
It's clearly not due to a lack of ideas; quite the opposite really, I have *tons* of ideas but neither the time nor motivation (and, in some cases, the raw skills) to illustrate them all. And while I already do have several WIPs in the works, I just haven't been able to work on them properly, nor on any other pic for that matter. I feel anxious just turning my tablet on, and when I start drawing, it usually takes no longer than a few minutes for me to give up as soon as I struggle with something or if what I'm doing doesn't look "good enough".
So a few days ago, I thought to myself "fuck it, if I can't do anything decent on tablet, maybe I could try sketching something on paper for a change".
And... It worked.
I don't know why exactly, but while I've been struggling like Hell to draw on tablet for weeks, as soon as I started sketching on paper, I got right back into it and completed a full pic in one sitting, without getting frustrated nor giving up at the first hint of difficulty. I've been practicing every day since then, and even completed a few sketch pics that I'm planning to upload as an art dump soon.
So yeah... I've decided to ditch the tablet and go back to traditional art, for now at least. I just bought a new set of inking pens to replace my old ones, and hopefully I'll get to make good use of them in the coming days.

[POLL] Why do you like Jack ?
Posted 10 months agoOver the past several months, I've had more and more people coming forward to tell me how much they like my big hyena girl, Jacklyn. When I first created her, about 5 years ago, I didn't expect her to become so popular, nor for her to become my main OC for that matter. I just liked the idea of having a hyena pred OC, having been inspired by characters such as 
TheFreckleDen's Zandii or 
dredge123's Germania and, over time, I ended up creating an entire vore-themed setting around her and an in-depth backstory and biography that I still have yet to properly share.
So it's safe to say that I care a *lot* about this character, and it always makes my day when someone reaches out to tell me she's their favorite pred OC, or at the very least an OC they always love seeing more of. But why, exactly, do you like her ?
Well, this journal's all about finding that out ! I don't know how many replies it will get, but I figured it'd still be interesting to give it a shot !
So... Other than her being a female pred, why do you like Jacklyn ?
1) She's a mature pred; most pred characters tend to be on the younger side, being young adults in their 20s/30s. Older preds, such as Jack (who's in her mid-50s) are a rarer sight.
2) Tying with the above, she's a "MILF" pred, who has a son in his mid-20s, himself a pred.
3) She's a spotted hyena. Can't go wrong with a spotted hyena, and anyone who grew up with The Lion King probably agrees.
4) She's a female musclegut; most female preds are thicc, yet conventionally attractive. Jack is a hulking slab of muscle and fat.
5) She's huge. Her "canon" height is around 11ft/340cm, though some of her pics, notably the ones by Marett, apply some artistic license to that, making her look even bigger than she already is.
6) She's a tomboy. She's not feminine in the slightest, be it her attitude or the way she dresses.
7) She's rugged. Between her facial scars, her blind eye, her metal tooth and the fact that hyenas have thick facial features in general, she has the "face of a thug" with the attitude to match. Speaking of which...
8) Her attitude. Adding to the above, she's a tough, rude, no-nonsense lady. I've seen some folks refer to her as a "girlboss", and it's pretty accurate.
9) She's merciless. Decades of being a pred have completely desensitized her to her preys' plight, making her cold and dismissive towards their begging for mercy. There is also the fact that she always digests her preys, has never spared even one in her entire life, and that getting swallowed by her is very much a death sentence.
10) Other (clarify).
No, I'm not going to include an "all of the above" option, because it would be too easy and the point of this poll is to get more hindsight about what makes her so attractive to her fans :B

Happy Birthday, Jack !
Posted a year agoWith Vore Day coming to a close (at least in my timezone), I figured I'd post my first journal in 3 years to wish my huge yeen, Jacklyn, a happy birthday.
That's right : the big girl canonically turns 55 years old today !
When I took the decision to give her a canon birth date to make her age "in real time" (that was 2 years ago, I think), I figured that August 8 would be the perfect day, for a very obvious reason. Being my main vore OC, it only felt fitting that she'd celebrate her birthday on Vore Day, as I've always found it interesting to give a special meaning to a character's birth date.
Yeah, I get it, it's silly to wish a fictional character a happy birthday... But given how important that character in particular is to me, I still wanted to do it anyway. Hopefully, next year, I'll get to do it in art form~
So, happy birthday, Jack. And happy Vore Day, everyone !

Kinda split about changing accounts...

Basically, I'm facing kind of a dilemma : I'm considering changing accounts in order to use another username.
The reason is, "Skianous" is actually just a username I came up with for the Playstation Network when I got a PS3 years ago. I then proceeded to use it for my FA account because, hey, why not ? Never bothered to change it after that.
Thing is, I don't really feel much of a connection to this name. Sure, I grew somewhat attached to it since I've been using it for about 8 years now, but I don't feel like it really represents me as a furry artist. On the other hand, it *is* truly unique to me, while the other name I had in mind is not. I mean, there are like 1 page and a half of Google results for it, which is insignificant, but you get the idea.
There's also the issue of starting again "from scratch". Of course, I'm planning to notify my watchers (through notes, Discord and by leaving a "moved !" notice on my frontpage) but I'm also aware that rebuilding my community on a new account will take time. Which is why I want to be *absolutely* sure of my decision before I go through with it.
I'm still in the process of making my mind up, and I was curious to know if any of you had an opinion on this or went through a similar experience ?

Searching for a ref of sorts...
Posted 6 years agoI've been aching to draw Rei, the Giras OC of a friend, again for a while. But I also want to make her look more like an actual Giras; her proportions in the couple pics I've drawn of her so far are way closer to those of a regular anthro character.
Thing is, every time I've tried drawing her with a more Giras-like body, I've failed spectacularly and thrown the sketches away in frustration. Which is why I've been searching for artwork of female characters I could use as references to help me get the hang of it. Think something like Canson's art, with boobs !
I should consider asking him for a commission sometime, now that I think of it...

Should I create adoptables ?
Posted 6 years agoThis is something I've been considering every now and then; personally, I'm not really fond of adoptables because way too often, the artist just draws a single template, slaps a few different color patterns on it and call the results different characters. I think that's just cheap and lazy, and I don't want people to think I'm one of those. I mean, sure, I'm a lazy fuck, but I'm a lazy fuck with ethics.
That being said, I've been thinking about drawing a few different characters, each with their own individual design and species, and offer them for adoption. But I'm still not fully sure about that and I hoped to have other people's opinion on it. It could really help me make up my mind on the matter.

Overcoming my art block; new character !
Posted 6 years agoGood news, everyone ! I finally managed to overcome that art block that's been plaguing me for the past few weeks (though you already know that if you've read this journal's title) and I got a brand new character as well (which, once again, you know if you've read the title).
Long story short; 5 years ago,
bleeding-fingertips adopted Zamboni, a character created by 
einaralsmer. And even though I've never been big on the whole sonic-like artstyle, I immediately took a shine to her when I first saw that pic a couple years ago. Since B-F never actually used her, I asked if they'd be interested in letting me adopt her. They were open to the idea but I eventually had second thoughts and changed my mind.
Flash-forward to last week; I had been thinking back on it and decided to contact B-F again to ask if adopting Zam was still a possibility. It was, and I suggested a deal : since they paid $25 when they adopted the character themselves, I could draw something for them, $25 being roughly the price I ask for a fully-shaded commission. They accepted and, well... It got me motivated again !
I'll be uploading the result to my gallery as soon as I'm done writing this, as well as another pic I did at the same time depicting my new character :'3
I still owe artwork to some people out there; they'll know who they are. I'll resume working on their pics as well but, with finals coming next months, I'll also have to give schoolwork priority no matter how much I'd rather draw instead.

Any WW2 nerds around ? I've got some questions...
Posted 7 years agoAlright, so, I've been giving some thought to a character of mine : Heathcliff Frost, an American World War II veteran. But since my knowledge of american involvement in the War is rather lacking, I was expecting I could have some answers from any history nerd who'd happen to read this.
I just want to know if his background makes sense history-wise.
Long story short, he would've been present on the USS Arizona during the Pearl Harbor attack, which he survived. He then went on to fight in Asia, and eventually got wounded by a bullet to the head that caused him to lose his left eye. After that, he was taken back to the US to recover and later went back to the frontlines, taking part in D-Day and fighting for the liberation of France until the end of the War.
Woud that make sense ? Or should I change something ? '3'

Posted 8 years agoFor those of you who do not follow me on Eka's Portal (and thus didn't see my blog last week), I was banned a week ago for violating FA's rules. More specifically, I uploaded a couple of Rick and Morty fanarts depicting them and the alien stripper from the season 3 finale. But since Morty's a minor, drawing him in a pic including some sort of nudity prompted the admins to ban me and remove the pics from my gallery.
So... Now you know where I've been for the past few days. Anyway, good to be back !

I just resumed working on those requests I accepted a while ago. I sincerely apologize to all the people I have kept waiting for so long and, as a token of goodwill, I am willing to give flat color work to every request I have yet to complete.
Should you be one of the people I still owe art to, please do tell me here if you want me to color your pic, or if you prefer to keep the lineart; I will always post both when I color a picture, anyway.

About ongoing requests and trades

I have had some personal stuff going on lately, and it took a toll on my inspiration and artistic motivation as a whole. I realize you guys are still waiting on me and I shouldn't keep you waiting without at least letting you know how things are doing.

Commissions officially closed, reopening requests and trades

I will be taking more soon, but until I do so, I'm reopening requests and art trades for a bit.
I'm planning to do 6 requests, and 4 trades. This journal will be posted both here and on Eka's portal for my vore-loving fans out there; once those are done, I will be taking commissions again, and I'll probably do a YCH too while I'm at it so keep an eye out for it !
While I'm at it, I wanted to sincerely thank you all for your support; I'm still a beginner artist with lots to learn, and knowing there are people out there who like what I do is really important for me. I'm nothing without you guys, and every single comment, every single like and watch I get means the world to me.

Character name change and general redesign !
Posted 8 years agoAlright guys; you may have noticed a newcomer to my gallery recently. A buxom dragon girl named Sloane, which was inspired by my buddy Schwarzö's Zwarchia.
I've been giving this character more thought lately, and I wanted to make her less similar to her inspiration; as such, I'm considering abandoning the idea that she and Zwarchia are related, and I will change the color scheme I had planned for her too.
So just so you know... That dragon girl Estelle you'll be seeing very soon on my gallery is none other than Sloane, redesigned ! :3

Posted 9 years agoSo, two months ago, I broke my drawing hand.
After spending one month with a cast and nearly another month where holding a pencil was too painful to draw correctly, I recently got back to drawing, as you can see from the artwork I submitted a couple minutes ago.
Expect to see more of my dinosaurs in the near future ! All I can say is, damn, did I miss being able to draw !

My real name is classified. I'm mostly know as "Jade", though some people tend to call me "Oh Fuck !".
2. Do you know why you were named that?
That's the nickname I was given by the press on my homeworld. Journalists just love giving serial killers a nickname; it started out as "The jade-eyed predator", and simply became "Jade" over time.
3. Single or taken?
Not interested.

High pain tolerance, huge leg strength, swordsmanship, stealth master, proficiency with explosives and high intelligence.

As those watching me may have noticed, I'm currently working on a sergal character. And I really have a hard time drawing her head up front.
I've been searching, to no avail, a good tutorial for sergals. If any of you know one, I'd really like to see it.

Ooh, productive week ! =O
Posted 13 years agoTwo drawings in a row ! Looks like I'm getting better at this, since I only post here the artworks whose I'm proud enough to consider worth to be seen.
I drew Manuel on tuesday evening and the whole sketching and inking for Ramiro was done on wednesday while I was at school, during a two-hours english lesson. So yeah, my previous drawing was posted two months after the first one and here, I managed to create two decent artworks in a row ! Now that's encouraging !
I'll try to keep updating my gallery on a more regular basis from now on. Don't hesitate to give your opinion, be it good or bad, on my creations ; that'll certainly help me to improve. =)
