Debit Card Stolen...
Posted 12 years agoSo, I had my debit card stolen a couple days ago with a full paycheck on it. (It's not really a debit card, but a pay card from my employer). I have been trying to call them for the past two days but couldn't get through to customer service. Finally did today, and found out I've had over $300 stolen from me. Now I can't make rent, and won't receive a new card for another 7-10 days. This means that I can't pay rent, and even though she's very understanding, I still feel absolutely terrible. I don't know what to do but to try to raise some money.
So,if you are able to commission me for art or a skull painting, I would hugely appreciate it.. Even if you can't, if you could advertise and spread the word that would be very much appreciated as well.

30-Day Drawing Challenge (Need your help~)
Posted 12 years agoI want to do a 30-Day drawing challenge type thing, since I've been slacking on my art and need to kick my butt in gear. I'll probably start doing the challenge on the 1st for the sake of organization.
What I need you guys to do is suggest animals. Suggest as many as you want, whatever species you want. Suggest animals you think would be a challenge, unique, and/or suggest common animals! Doesn't matter to me, I'll be choosing randomly to give myself the best range.
I'm going to need 30 animals in total to draw. I'll list them in a journal when I start the challenge. :3

But the submission of the dog and me describing my hobby has been removed, although I have to say I'm happy with how it was handled by the mod. :)
I didn't expect to get so much deep response from you guys! Thank you so much, it means a lot to me that you all both enjoy what I/we do and respect it. I wish I could have replied to each of you, but just know that I did read each response. I love all of you. <3
I wish that I could show the more intimate parts of my work, but obviously I can't without breaking the rules again. Because seeing the animal lying there is really the most emotional part, and usually when I give a (domestic) animal a name. Even though naming it doesn't matter in reality, for some reason knowing that it has been acknowledged and given a name puts my mind at ease.
Aaanyway, I love talking about this stuff, obviously. If anyone ever has any questions or just wants to chat I'm always happy to.

But the pelt looks so pretty, gorgeous fire red with a deep red cross on the back. It's got all it's feet too~
For some reason I've been seriously wanting to add a red fox -something- to my house, so now I've got a lovely pelt coming this weekend! It'll be my first pelt. <3

Some Probably Bad News
Posted 13 years ago I really wish I had a Fox pelt to pet/hold/wear for some comfort right now.. I’m having panic attacks off and on because I got news that there may be something seriously wrong with my Grandma, but I don’t know what. My Mom wants to tell me in person tomorrow so I guess I’ll find out then.. But I really don’t know what to do to comfort myself, I feel very insecure and I keep having crying bouts. I haven’t had a bad panic attack in years.. I feel like I need to crawl and hide under some security blanket for comfort.
I don’t know. My Mom was very vague over text which is what is seriously worrying me. Basically she said that “I need to see you tomorrow to talk to you about something important in person.” Now I can’t seem to stay calm for long in between panics. I actually started crying infront of my manager at work and had to go home. What do I do..?
Sorry guys, just wanted to get it out.. Depending on what I hear tomorrow, I may not be so active as I have been. Also I'll apologize in advance if I seem upset/grumpy/snappy at anything. I'm usually good about bottling up my emotions but in this case I just don't know.

Day of the Dead Coyote Skull -sold-
This lovely skull has been painted in bright, festive color and represents the Mexican Dia De Los Muertos holiday. I believe the 'yote was female, she is very petite and in near perfect condition (only missing the very back lower molars). She is quite an attention grabber and will brighten up any room!

This little 'coon has been painted in bright, festive color and represents the Mexican Dia De Los Muertos holiday. She does have her frontal teeth, I just hadn't put them in before I took the photos. She is a very cute little skull. <3

Norse Otter Skull
I used a mahogany woodstain to achieve the deep natural color on this otter. I wire wrapped the zygomatic arches and used a cream paint for the design. He/she is adorned with a Triskelion symbol which represents eternity, flow, land, sea, and sky. This skull is quite lovely in it's simplicity.

Aurora Bone Necklace

Wish Bone Necklace
This piece is made from beautiful natural elements (excluding the glass beads).
It is a rooster wishbone, wrapped with silver wire and decorated with red and pearl beads and lovely feathers. The design on the bone was made using India ink and represents the Turkish "Evil Eye" which wards off negative energies. The cord the pendant hangs from is hemp with a handwoven macrame.
This necklace is virtually weightless also. You'll forget you're even wearing it!

Day of the Dead Coyote Skull -sold-
This lovely skull has been painted in bright, festive color and represents the Mexican Dia De Los Muertos holiday. I believe the 'yote was female, she is very petite and in near perfect condition (only missing the very back lower molars). She is quite an attention grabber and will brighten up any room!

Norse Otter Skull
I used a mahogany woodstain to achieve the deep natural color on this otter. I wire wrapped the zygomatic arches and used a cream paint for the design. He/she is adorned with a Triskelion symbol which represents eternity, flow, land, sea, and sky. This skull is quite lovely in it's simplicity.

Peacock Ore Pendant -sold-

Making Progress~
Posted 13 years agoI feel like I've been making a lot of good progress on my art lately. Finished two painted skulls, doing lots of digital art/doodles in the last couple weeks. Ahhh inspiration is such a good feeling. <3
Right now I'm working on a digital commission, almost to the shading (a.k.a slapping dark colors and light scribbles everywhere) stage. Don't know if I want to do a stream though. What do you think?
Also I'm going to have a couple skull paintings and wrapped jewelry pieces up for sale today or tomorrow! Be on the lookout for those if interested.
And as always, I am open for drawing or custom skull painting/crystal jewelry/bone jewelry commissions~!

Ripped Tablet Pen In Half
Posted 13 years agoFantastic. With virtually no effort at all, I managed to rip my tablet pen fully in half and now it's completely broken. A new pen is going to cost me $75, which I can't afford..
So, I would really like to receive some commissions. Traditional,of course, unless you are willing to wait until I am able to draw digitally again. I will draw literally anything you want (yes, including naughtybits, but keep it classy), it can be inked, just a sketch, shaded with pencil, anything really. I can also make macrame jewelry, and bone/feather jewelry.
Prices for drawings will range from $5-15.
Jewelry prices will range from $3-20.
I would really like to replace my pen soon, so I can get my art projects done. If you are able to and would like to commission me, I would really appreciate it. And if you would like to spread the word, I would truly appreciate that also. <3

Bone/Feather/Stone Jewelry Making
Posted 13 years agoHeya all, sorry I haven't been so active lately. My new job has been taking up my time, so I haven't had the energy to do much art lately. But I did move all my craft stuff from my Mom's house to the apartment I'm in now, so I'll finally be able to do some skull paintings and start some jewelry making.
Which brings me to this,
Does anyone have any tips/tricks/tutorials on how to make jewelry using bone/feather/stone/wire? I'd really like to try making some earrings and necklaces and such, I'm just not sure of any techniques people use to make good looking designs and such. Any help would be greatly appreciated. <3

Bone Hunting is Awesome

tyerva-sama and we found some pretty great stuff!
She found a llama skull and mandible, her first found bones! xD
I found a partial cat skeleton (this is the first cat I've found, they seem to be hard to find for some reason?) and some misc. dog bones (from dogs I had already taken the skulls from). Also on the way back home I picked up a nice roadkill skunk! I'm really hoping to get the whole skeleton from this guy to articulate. <3
I'm debating though, whether I want to put him in a bag to let nature decompose it, or if I want to just toss the whole thing into a bucket to macerate. I'm not totally sure which way would be easier/quicker.
So have any of you had adventures in bone collecting lately? C:

Posted 13 years agoSo I’m going to be home earlier than expected! I’ll be back home on September 1st. While this vacation has been really great, seeing new places and things is awesome, I’m very excited to go back home. I have so many projects and things I want to get started on/finish. Including a couple painted skull projects, which should be very cool. I have a box of bobcat & beaver skulls waiting for me to get home, as well as all the skulls that have been macerating while I was gone~ Also, my very dear friend recently moved back to NM, and I am overly excited to see her and start hanging out again! It's been slowly killing me that she's in NM but I can't see her yetttt. ;n;
Here's a little list of some projects I have in mind:

Surprise! Vacation...
Posted 13 years agoSo, my Great Aunt invited me to go with her on her yearly big vacation like 2 weeks beforehand. I hate making big plans last minute, especially with all the art and skull cleaning I want to get done, but oh well, I don't want to disappoint her by not going. I also need to get out of the house anyway I suppose.
This vacation will last nearly 6 weeks. I'm leaving on the 22nd, and coming back on September 20th. x_x
This means I won't be able to do any skull paintings or collect new skulls during that time, siiiigh. So expect more drawings and maybe photos. I'm hoping that I'll find a skull or something while we're hiking, I already promised my Aunt that I wouldn't make her stop for roadkill lmao. XD
Anyway on this big road trip we'll be driving from Arizona, up the coast of California, through Oregon, and then to Washington where my Aunt's summer house is. All throughout we'll be stopping to visit family, go places, hike, etc. I'm most excited about Oregon, since I've always wanted to go there. Should be pretty fun~
