Update
Posted 8 years agoHey everyone!
It's been almost a year since I've been on FA, how is everyone doing?
Lately, I've been looking back on my four years in the fandom, and I've been thinking about what it means to me - what being a furry means to me. I discovered the fandom back in my freshmen year of high school, when I was moving towns and schools, and the fandom was sort of there for me when during that time. But over my four years in HS, it never clicked; I never considered myself a part of the fandom, just more of a spectator. I mean even my fursona wasn't what I wanted it to truly be. So as a result, I wasn't really in it for the long haul, I just sort of floated in and out of it, that is until just recently. You could say I “found” the fandom again. I think my issue was I’m a very introverted person and I lived in the middle of wheat fields and cattle ranches, and I just felt distant from the fandom. But then I got to college and discovered the fandom again. And this time, it clicked. I can't really explain it, it just happened. I think I just needed to give the whole thing some time.
Along with not really connecting with the fandom in general, I didn’t really feel happy with my fursona. A couple of years ago, I changed his design and name, but even then I wasn’t happy with Skylyr. He never felt like a representation of me. So I sat down and really thought about what I wanted my fursona to be, and I made some changes. Actually, a lot of changes. First off, I decided to change my name from Skylyr to Soren. Soren has always been a name I’ve loved, even growing up, and I figured it’d be fitting since it’s Scandinavian and my entire family hails from there. I also dropped the dragon part, so now I’m just a fox. Other than that, I just changed the over design somewhat. I’ll be posting a new ref sheet soon!
So yeah, with that being said, I'm still here! I apologize for being so distant, I just had to figure some stuff out. I’ll still be on FA, but I also made a twitter and am planning on being much more active on that.
I hope you all are doing well! Don't forgot to follow me on twitter!

Update!
Posted 9 years agoHey everyone!
I haven't been too active on here lately, so I thought I'd make an update and let you all know I'm still alive! This year has been quite the trip. Being a senior is one of the most stressful, but rewarding, things a person can do. I've been doing all the fine arts stuff and science club and quiz bowl, not to mention all the clubs and such. Last year I made the rash and hasty decision to let myself become president of three school clubs, but it's been going well! I've learned so much this year about how to be in charge and get stuff done. And of course, to top it all off, planning for graduation! Graduation is one of those things that I distinctly remember myself, in kindergarten, thinking "this will never happen." But it is! And it is so exciting!
My second bit of news is what comes after graduation. I am happy to announce that I will be moving back to Arizona this summer to spend four years working towards an acting/filmmaking practices degree! And I'll be attending Arizona State University.
So yeah, big things are happening in the next few months. I just recently got my hands on Propellerhead Reason, some sweet music software. I am so very excited to start using it and to see what it can do! In terms of my writing career, I have a new science fiction story in the works, which will eventually be a nine part book series. However, I won't be posting any of it because there is a lack of anthro animals in it. I will be posting some stuff from my other major series, Knights of Arctos, which is all about foxes. It's been a while since I've worked on KOA. My sci fi story has been my main focus, and I'm about ready to begin book 1. But I'd like to come back to KOA and see where I can take it.
So yeah, I'm still alive! And thank you for all of my watchers, you guys are the best! I'd like to focus more on my music and writing and getting some stuff posted. It's been a while!

MUSICAL IS OVER!!!!
Posted 11 years agoWOO!!!!! I have a life outside of school again! :)
It went pretty well. I did pit orchestra this year. I would say I regret doing pit but I can't because if I wouldn't have done pit I wouldn't have found out that I really don't like it. Next year, I'm going to act and sing again.
Finally, school is getting closer to ending!

THIS SONG

Seriously this song is so freaking amazing I can't stop listening to it. I don't normally put music things like this up, but this it such a fantastic song, AND my high school choir teacher is thinking about using it next year for a concert! I so badly hope we sing it next year!!! But yeah, if you like, I guess it sounds like the music from Avatar kinda, then you should check this out. (Haven't seen Avatar in a while, so I'm just guessing).
Also, this weekend I'm going to be at this honor band here in Nebraska called South West Conference, so that'll be fun. We're playing a Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban medley, which I really hope we play well. Otherwise, I will be extremely sad, because it's Harry Potter.....enough said. Fun fun fun!

Hogs and New Costume
Posted 11 years agoSo I'm in Oklahoma this weekend on a hog hunt....not sure how I feel about this...
It was my parents idea. I have no intention of shooting a hog, I'm just along for the ride.
Anyway, I'm going to be in Oklahoma this weekend. Personally, I'd much rather be at home because this is my spring break. Yes, my spring break this year is literally just a long weekend: Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I have no idea what to expect of this thing. But yeah, gotta stay positive!
AND NEW NEWS....*drumroll.......I'm going to be making an Amazing Spiderman Costume!!! That's why I'd rather be home now, so that I can start working on it. I've gotten the suit printed and the shoes I need. What's next is printing the suit with puffy paint. Which is what is be doing if I were home. But I should be able to start on painting it this Monday, because I finally have a free week next week!
BTW, for those who don't know what "painting" means. If you've seen the suit, which you probably have if you like spiderman, there are all of those little tiny hexagons all over the suit. What I'm going to do is take the puffy paint, and using a super fine applicator tip, go over the hexagons. This makes the suit look extremely movie authentic, and just look better and more colorful. It'll take weeks to complete just the painting part, but it's worth it.
Then, I need to learn how to sew so I can sew it together!
I'm so excited about making this because spiderman is one of my favorite comic book superheroes EVER. I would love to finish the suit by the premier of The Amazing Spiderman 2, but that's near impossible, unless I literally worked day and night. But I don't know, anything is possible!

Looks like I'm 17 now
Posted 11 years agoYes, it's my birthday today! To be honest, I felt like I've been 16 for three years, which wasn't a bad thing.
It's been a pretty good birthday so far. I went to jazz band this morning, then left school and am now in Omaha for the weekend with my grandparents. My dad is making spaghetti for dinner, I can't wait for that :)

New Account!!!
Posted 12 years agoYes! This is my new account!
Moved From
cobaltdragonfox
Honestly....I HATED moving accounts! The main reason why I decided to create a new one is that I changed my name. I've never been too happy with Cobalt, it just never fit right. And now I've finally decided on a name I like A LOT better, and it actually fits me! My fursona will stay the same though, no change there.
I have to say, changing accounts is not fun at all. I would have just kept the same account, but you can't change your user name. Anyway, I've spent the last three hours getting this one to resemble the last. All I have left to do it resubmit artwork and music. But I have jazz band tomorrow morning so I need sleep.
