Dragon's Hoard Delayed
Posted 8 years agoUnfortunately, and due to circumstances beyond my control, it looks like neither of the Dragon's Hoard anthologies I've done work for will be ready for MFF this year. Sorry about that. This means that it'll be a while before everyone gets a better look at these guys, which is a shame because I really like them and wanted to show them off a bit. Maybe I'll do a separate piece with them in the meantime? I bet those two get up to all kinds of shenanigans.
Finally on Patreon!
Posted 8 years agoWell, I may be late to the party. but I finally decided to sign up for a Patreon account. I've always loved creating art for you guys, and with luck this will enable me to focus more on my own stuff and less on commissions.
It'll be set up a little differently: Since I have the attention span of a fruit fly, I'll be jumping between multiple projects at any given time. Patrons will have the opportunity to vote on new projects when current ones are finished, and even enter suggestions for the future! In additions, patrons will have access to sketches and WIPs,
The projects I'll be working on to begin with are:
Toothless Goes Courting, Chapter 4 - Illustrated fanfiction, dragon POV, polyamory.
Morning Routine: Max - Anthro husky, slice of life, casual nudity.
There Goes the Neighbourhood - Macro, monsters, voyeurism.
You can find my page here!
Everything paid for via Patreon will still be available here, of course. If you have any questions, please let me know!

The Tribulations of the Furry Artist
Posted 9 years agoI often find myself, in this line of work, asking questions most artists don't have to concern themselves. Like, "what is the index of refraction of dragon semen?" or "If a character had a sheath, would it point up toward their bellybutton or flop down like a human's dick?"
Or today: "I wish I had a naked female present, not for the obvious reason but so that I could get her to lie on a pool noodle and see what a tail would do to her lady parts."
Like is odd.
So, Zootopia was awesome.
Posted 9 years agoGot to see it tonight, and it was fantastic. I'm really glad I was able to avoid spoilers, too. It gave the film the opportunity to surprise me. There's a chance with this film we'll see a marked influx of new blood in the fandom. If so, remember to be nice to the newbies! Now if you'll excuse me,
On another note, I'm thinking of getting a Patreon going, but I'm not sure how to go about it since I'd want to start doing animations again. Near as I can tell, I would either have two Patreons, one each for drawings and animations, or a single monthly Patreon where I work on both. I'm leaning toward the latter, but I'd be very interested to know what you guys think!

Furiffic
Posted 10 years agoSo the fandom has a new art site! I snagged my username before some other clever rogue could: https://www.furiffic.com/Slate
That said, I'm not sure how much I'll be posting there. I'm not sure what it has to offer that other sites don't already have covered. Weasyl already has the sexiest interface, Sofurry is the best for reading stories, and FA is where all the goddamn people actually are. Does anyone know what they're going for with Furiffic that might set them apart?
And while I've got you here, I still have commission slots available for anyone interested!
Tumbling!
Posted 10 years agoSo I decided, "hey, why not?" and went and got myself a Tumblr. It's an adult account, so I think it'll have a bit harder of a time getting going, so if any of you fine folks have accounts of your own and want to check it out, I'd be very grateful for the signal boost!
Check me out at http://slatedragon.tumblr.com/
Now Taking Commissions!
Posted 10 years agoTechnically, I've always done commissions, I just never really advertised before. Figured I'd make it official!
We'll be starting fairly small, with 5 slots on a first come, first served basis. Drop me a line at slatedragon[at]gmail.com with your ideas if you're interested!
I suppose I;ll just keep the list on my front page, unless someone knows of a clever, easily-updated way of keeping track of this sort of thing?
Post-Con Report & Windfall Ebook!
Posted 10 years agoAnthrocon was a blast! So stroked to see everyone and bum around meeting new people and sitting in -and on! -panels.
Watching Windfall launch was kind of surreal. Finally getting to hold the novel in my hands after so long in development was really exciting. And apparently you guys agreed, because we completely sold out within a day!
Ordinary this would be kind of sad, but, as it turns out, and unbeknownst to both Tempo and myself, the Ebook has already launched! A lot of people's have been asking, and you can go pick it up from Bad Dog Books! The physical copies are still set for the end of the month.

An Important Decision Must Be Made!
Posted 10 years agoFirst off, I'm still alive! I've been working hard on the book, and I'm at a point where I've got like, five things mostly-finished (Including chapter 3 of Toothless Goes Courting!). But for now, I need your help!
As you all know, Fallout 4 has been announced. Savvy businessmen that they are, Steam has put all the previous games on sale to commemorate the event, and now I have to decide whether I want to buy and play 3 or New Vegas. I'm honestly torn. Fallout 3 has a more personal story, but New Vegas' is a little deeper and more complex. Fallout 3 does a better job of making you feel like everyone knows and loves you for your achievements, but New Vegas lets you achieve more. Fallout 3 has more iconic landmarks and lets you roam without blocking your path with giant hornets, but New Vegas is nicer to look at and the wandering has more stuff going on.
What do you guys think? For the sake of my productivity, I should only buy one.

Loaf It or Hate It
Posted 10 years agoI Am Bread is one of those weird experiences when you're having fun, but at the same time, you know that if aliens suddenly appeared and demanded you justify your existence, you wouldn't be able to make much of a case.
A Question!
Posted 11 years agoSo, I've been around here for a little while, but I'm hoping a few of you have been around longer because I have a question: When did vore become a thing?
I mean, Furry started as a bunch of Sci-Fi guys with newsletters in the 80's, right? Did it start there? Or did non-furry vore come first? Who was the first person to realise they weren't the only one into this stuff? The first I heard of it was that one story by Cinnamon, like, fifteen years ago.
Any thoughts?

Let's talk about Patreon!
Posted 11 years agoSo, Patreon! I want to do it. I am always in favour of monies. HOWEVER, I can't seem to get a clear idea on how it works!
Would I be allowed to use it to finance porn? They say you can't, but some people clearly are. What kinds of rewards might an artist offer? Would I be allowed to post the stuff I make for Patreon users on other sites?
This is all just speculative at the moment. I'd still appreciate your feedback, though!

My immediate question: Where do you store it?
Weasyling
Posted 11 years agoWoo! Been a while since I had a journal :P
Anyway, just wanted to let you know I have a Weasyl accound now, over here. I'm still getting the hang of the site, but it's a really spiffy service and I expect I'll be posting all my stuff there from now on.
Edit: Any particular favourites you guys think I should add over there?

MFF accomodations!
Posted 12 years agoHello, gentle watchers. This is the part where the poor unprepared dragon turns hos hat open once again and asks if anyone has a spare bed for MFF. You'd think I'd have learned my lesson from last year when I was similarly scrambling for a room, but that actually worked out really well, since
flyinfox was basically the best con roommate you could ask for. Besides, apparently the rooms were gone basically immediately.
So I ask you, dear watchers, hat in hand. Does anyone have a bed to spare?

A Dire and Important Question!
Posted 12 years agoGentle watchers, I need your aid! I seek an answer to a question that has haunted mankind for millenia: How does an anthro character wear glasses?
Do they just balance by themselves on the nose? Hook up behind the ear? Some kind of velcro arrangement? You tell me!

Dear Mr. Lovecraft
Posted 12 years agoI'm trying to get into your stories, truly I am, but I really need you to tone down the racism, just a bit. I know you were a product of your time, but it's hard to take you seriously when you use the same horrified language to describe the ancient unknowable monstrosities coming to devour us, and the fact that some of their cultists are mixed-race. Also, I'm aware that non-Englishmen are capable of being intelligent. You don't need to stop the story to reassure me of that fact.
Maybe just a little bit or perspective?

Boooored
Posted 13 years agoAll Furries should be implanted with mandatory GPS chips, so the next time I'm wandering the airports of North America I'l know where to find someone to talk to.
Then the government could get hold of it and begin The Great Purge...wait.

MFF Room - Seeking Roomie
Posted 13 years agoFaced with the prospect of four nights on an air mattress, I'm pondering biting the bullet and getting a room at one of the nearby hotels. Unfortunately, hotels don't seem to do the "single-bed closet" type room anymore, and they're all doubles. I may have someone lined up already, but is there anyone in the same boat who might be willing to split a room, or know someone who is?

MFF Plans
Posted 13 years agoSo who's all going? I may have sort of gotten a plane ticket but no hotel room. Anyone have a vacancy?
