July Updates
General | Posted 12 years agoA little late, but here it is.
Let's see, what happened besides the wedding... I got two new rats! The original foster of Chaos wanted him back, and as I had no attachment to him and she certainly did, I complied. My new boys are two black hoodeds, and their names are Chester and Billy. Chester is the dominate one, but he takes food after he makes sure it's food. Billy just NOMS. XD They're so cute!
Just a reminder, I do take requests (if I like them), collabs, and commissions, guys. :p
Also, how do you feel about critiquing an artist on a commission they did for you? As in, character details they missed/got wrong? I feel bad when it's traditional (because it's hard to fix), but digital artists I'm on the fence about.

I Return!
General | Posted 12 years agoThe wedding was okay. I expected the religious aspect (it is AHLUHBAYMUH after all), but I still hated the sexist bit (you have a penis, therefore you must be dominate. >:C). But I like the guy (het couple, never met him before now), he's funny and doesn't seem to suppress her. AND THEY'RE USING FAMILY PLANNING, YES. It honestly baffles me how people can plan for buying a TV and not for supporting a new life. I know they think their god will take care of them, but I don't think any intelligent god would give you a brain and tell you not to use it!
Weddings
General | Posted 12 years agoI'll be away from internet until Sunday for a cousin's wedding in Ahluhbaymuh (Alabama said with a southern accent). See you guys later!
Good and Bad and Neutral
General | Posted 12 years agoI'm back; I didn't put a journal up about it because I said when I would be back, but I also have more updates.
My cat of 13-14 is going senile. She's not all that bad off at the moment, but it's only downhill from here....
I saw Equestria Girls and IT WAS AWESOME. Fit the target audience, but we bronies also enjoyed it, and it wasn't absurdly corny. :D I suggest you see it. I'm buying it when it comes out.
I've been meaning to also point out my fanart account. I wanted to see if my views were for my fanart or my personal art, so I made a separate account of it. But I still have quality work there! The fandoms currently covered are (best works are hyperlinked) : Kingdom Hearts, My Little Pony : Friendship is Magic, Naruto, There she is!!, and Warriors (by Erin Hunter). There's also some misc. art for Final Fantasy VI, Harry Potter, Owls of Ga'Hoole, and Rozen Maiden.

Absence and Graduation
General | Posted 12 years agoI graduated today, yay! Check out my transformation series about it in my gallery if you haven't already. :3
Also, I'm going to a get-away in some mountains that have no internet. This is on purpose, because it's supposed to let christian ministers commune with their god (or in my case, just nature) without any distractions. I'm not thrilled about that aspect, but it's a nice place. And I'll have games. I leave tomorrow and will return Friday. Don't go doing anything stupid, okay?

I graduate on the 7th. :x Dunno how to feel about that. I got accepted to a local technical college, so no worries as far as college.... I'm graduating with a special diploma and an awesome scholarship that pretty much pays for my tech school, so that's nice. My grandmother's coming to visit. She's racist, though not overtly, so I just hope she doesn't comment on my mate and I's prom picture (he's straight-up African, I'm white).
Speaking of my mate, he hasn't contacted me in over a week. For those of you who don't know, he's in the Navy and stationed across the country, so our only method of communication is texting (we're mumblers so calling is a stupid idea) and he always tells me if he'll be away. Last I heard from him, he was slightly drunk in a bar with some friends, so it makes me a bit worried. But I am pretty certain I'm on the list of people to contact if he gets hurt/killed/MIA/etc, so I know he has to be okay. Probably just lost his phone or charger, the silly.
I also found out there's probably something wrong with my body, but it is fixable. It's a bit TMI, but if you really want to know, you can note me and I'll tell you, most likely.
No real progress with Chaos. Some days me likes me, other days he doesn't. :<
Star's question of the month; Imagine you're female and had sex the day before you went out into space for a 5-year mission. You find out you're preggers. Do you have the baby in space, or go home to? Rats have been successfully born in space with only slight bone degradation, which was fixed by exercise when they returned to earth.

April Updates - Leg Mystery Solved! and Sad News
General | Posted 12 years agoMonthly journal time!
April... April.... I got officially accepted to my local tech school (no surprise there, it's super easy to get into, not that the classes are bad). I've finished all my work in both my art classes, so now all I need to do is make sure they're super shiny for the portfolio (this is AP art, so we have to submit a digital portfolio). It's looking like I'm going to exempt all of my non-AP exams, being a senior with an average of C or above. :3 Speaking of school... I WON AWARDS FOR MY ART!! 8DD Super excite. In my high school senior year art show, The Forgotten got an honorable mention in the Mixed Media section, and Inquiry got bought by the principal AND won "Best Senior Work," awarding me a GRAND TOTAL of $100! I'm still trying to decide if I'll commission someone or buy a small commission while I get art supplies. x3 Depends who's open that I want something from!
My rats have both made me bleed now (they were hoarder rats, so they weren't socialized properly for the first half of their life); anybody have any tips with bitey rats??
UPDATE: Havok, the sickly of the two rats I've been fostering, just lost his battle. He was doing fine this morning, so I think it was just time. I'm sad for his brother, though; they were very closely bonded.
As you all know, my yahoo got hacked. Don't answer e-mails from there, I now use theslippingstar[at]gmail.com etc etc, go see the journal on it.
My hemorrhoid is not gastrologist-worthy (thank Posiden), so we just upped the water and added mineral oil to my diet. DX Another ailment with my heath is that I'm pretty sure I managed to pull my rectus femoris and my vastus lateralis (or muscles around there, here's a diagram for your convenience). In laymen's terms, top-thigh muscles, particularly around the tendons. And they're REALLY hard to stretch, so they've been at their "rawr"ness since Sunday now.
UPDATE: I went to the doctor, and it turns out I pulled my hamstrings. I remembered just as I was leaving that I slipped when coming out of the shower (SLIPPINGStar, harhar) on Sunday, which is when it all started. I'm popping pain pills and resting it and putting heating pads on it and should be better Monday.
How was everyone's April?

March Updates
General | Posted 12 years agoLet's see, what happened this month....
My sister got married. She's known the guy for 3 months. We like him, we just wish they would have waited til they got to know each other better. They only got papers done, no wedding or honeymoon yet. But it kinda works out, because it would've been harder if they hadn't eloped, because he's Egyptian and Muslim, and my mother's family is full of southern christian racists. :/ So now they can't dispute it.
I'm getting ahead in my art classes. Not that this is bad, it just gives me more time to do other projects.
Berry visited. I'm not one to kiss and tell, though, so none of those questions. >:C He did get me a distracting necklace, though. x3
I'm now fostering two very shy rats. One has mycoplamsa, which is, in short, a special kind of URI, so he has to have all these drugs. Luckily, he likes them. Now of I can only get them to like me... xD
I also attended my local Marriage Equality rally. I held up a sign saying, "Homosexuality in at least 151 species, homophobia in 1. It's NATURAL." Thought it was pretty clever. My UU Reverend (weird to call him that, since he's a Secularist...) spoke on how religion shouldn't dictate who can and can't marry in a secular country, be it on sex, race, or religion. Some people remember the race bit, but I had never thought of the religion bit. Then they followed him up with a pastor, who started his whole damn speech with, "We are all God's children," and I just thought, "Thanks for asking if I was a christian, dude. Because, ya know, this is the south, and there's obviously no non-christians. Especially not the one that JUST spoke before you. Nope." My UU people also put up a banner. That's something I like about them, they are very active in the queer community; they don't just say they are, they act on their words.
My counselor got a missionary offer in Africa, so I've transferred to a new one. She's in the practice, so automatically christian, but my past counselor said they have a similar method, so I like that. I just hope she keeps her religion out of it.
My hemorrhoid is back, so I'm going to have to go see a gastrologist :/
How is everyone praising her Ladyship, Ishtar, the Goddess of Fertility, tomorrow? ;p

Rare Art Raffle Ad - Neko-Maya
General | Posted 12 years agoYou guys know I don't do these often, but still, here. This artist has a brilliant grasp on lighting, anatomy, and fur, as well as having developed her own, prodominate style. I really respect her as an artist and person, because she's not afraid to stand up for herself. I don't care if she's already at 6000, she needs more watchers. >:C
Yahoo Hacked
General | Posted 13 years agoMy yahoo e-mail, slipping.star, was hacked by someone in Vietnam. I've deactivated it and moved to theslippingstar[at]gmail.com and updated my passwords EVERYWHERE.
If you get any e-mails from slipping.star@yahoo.com, IGNORE THEM. I have NO IDEA what this person did while logged in besides looking at my mail and sending an e-mail to Clockwork Creatures.

Feburary Updates; Weasyl!
General | Posted 13 years agoSo, monthly updates!
I now have a weasyl account! https://www.weasyl.com/profile/slippingstar No, I'm not moving. I went there to follow the artists that did, though. And I'm liking the site itself. :3
We've started our concentrations in both art classes. I'm liking where they're going.
Dusty died Saturday morning (near 0300). <:C I was able to get him while he still had some of himself up there, and I stayed with him til he was gone. He tried to brux for me. -gets teary-
I have joined my local Unitarian Universalist congregation. And I simply love it! They're all about helping you find your way in life, whatever that may be, so long as that's not blowing people up or something crazy. XD There's a lot of atheists, rational thinkers, and free-thinkers there, and they accept any scientific findings and the queer community. In the mornings, they have a forum where we discuss a topic, like "Truth; does it exist, and if so, how do we find it?" It's the kind of community I've been looking for since forever. And I have a place in it!
My state is trying to reform our sex ed to be comprehensive (which means we would include contraception and queer relationships, and refer to the vulva correctly, finally. >:C), and I've gotten involved in that movement. But in THUH BAHBUL BEYULT, I'm not sure how far we can get. >.< But 86% of our voters want it to happen, so it's looking pretty likely. :)
I got accepted into a local community college. Not a big feat, but it's cheaper than a four-year, which I plan to transfer to. They're telling be exactly what classes to take, so they can't tell me the courses don't count when I transfer. >:C
How do you guys deal with losing a pet? I don't believe in a god, and if anything, I think we're reincarnated, but I really hope there's a heaven of some sort for animals; they're too sweet for oblivion.

Janurary Updates
General | Posted 13 years agoMonthly update!
This month I finished the breadth section of my AP art classes, and now am moving on to my concentration. For 3D, it will be based on my clay piece Defense, centering around the idea of the order of the braids constricting the independence of the tentacles and thorn head. For 2D, it's things that are traditionally shown in rivalry with each other being in harmony. It's based off my 2 Dragon and Tiger pieces.
Also, Berry and I are finally official. x3 'bout time! ^^ We already acted like it, he just is traditional about asking out in person. And I usually am, too, but he's in the Navy, so times he can be in person is few and far between, and thus I'm willing to make an exception.
My hemorrhoid is almost gone, yay! It probably helps that I'm eating better, now. ^^;
Dusty, my rat, is getting very old. :< I had to move him into a cage without levels, because he hasn't realized he's too old to be reckless. He's also losing the use of his back legs. While this is making him more chilled out and cuddly, I know that he's getting closer to the end, and it's rather depressing. v.v I've never had a rat die of old age. Has anyone ever dealt with this process of watching your lovely die?

I'm offerings the flag wave icon as a commission option!
My fursona's toes and tail tip are no longer white. Nobody could tell they were white and I would forget myself sometimes. So they're flesh-colored~

F5! and other news.
General | Posted 13 years agoThis little animation took quite some time, and while it could be improved, I'm still quite satisfied with it.
Anyhow, how were everyone's holidays? What did you do? Did you go anywhere? Get anything?
I was dragged to ALABAMA to see the ignorant, racist, homophobic, sexist, bible-thumping side of my family. Luckily I was able to find some gems who had some free thought, but on the whole I tend to prefer not visiting that side of my family. I personally celebrated the American christmas and the winter solstice.
I've been told that interaction with your watchers makes you more likable, but I also wish to avoid spamming inboxes. Thus, I have found a happy medium; at the end of each month, I will post a journal stating what went on in my life and the like, unless I need to before then.

Searching for Foot Furries!
General | Posted 13 years agoIn case you didn't know, I love rat feet! They are absolutely adorable and flexible and grabby and .
As is such, I was wondering if any of my watchers are/know foot furries? Not necessarily sexual but just at all? I want to draw something similar to this or this with my fursona as the macro character (or the normal one if the guest character is micro?). The only thing sexual about it would be that, from that position, my lips would be slightly spread. I don't skimp on details just because my society happens to taboo sex. But there won't be fluids or anything. Spread the word!
Also, for you horse-oriented furries, does anyone know the biological function behind the ring around a horse's penis? Just something that occurred to me...

General | Posted 13 years agoThe vagina is only the tunnel that runs between the vaginal opening and the cervix - what is between the major labia is the "vulva." This is a lovely article that sets all the misconceptions about the female parts straight (but not necessarily heterosexual. ;p).
They also have an article that males will find useful! Innies & Outies: The Penis, Testes, and More
Scarleteen is a lovely, unbiased site that is my go-to on any sexual things I hear. They cover the sexes, but also the intersexed, the gender spectrum (no binary there!), and sexuality as well.

"Pride"
General | Posted 13 years agoRecently I went to my local "Pride" festival (I say pride with quotations because I've never been one to take pride in something I had no hand in (such as my sexuality, race, or place of birth). On a sidewalk across from the front of the street hosting the festival, I'd say ~100 protesters stood. Every one had a CHRISTIAN reason as to why we were "damned," "sinning," or "in need of repentance" for our actions, for expressing who we were, and attempting to promote the acceptance and awareness of all queersexualdom and queergenderdom. In about two hours, they were gone. I don't know if the authorities did it, or if they simply realized the futility of their efforts, but they were gone. If I hadn't been afraid of being attacked, I would have tried to argue with them on their own terms why their thought process was biblically incorrect. Today, I saw a documentary I want every christian who is against homosexuality to see; The Bible Tells Me So.
Another thing about pride; there was nothing for asexuality. At all. I now plan to host an booth on asexuality in next year's festival, so that we may have representation, too.

When Politicians Debate
General | Posted 13 years agoI wish they'd focus more on the actual topic and less on mudslinging. I hope this isn't a trend that will progress like gossip did in journalism.
Thing is, if your way really is better than your compeditors, we don't need you to make theirs look bad directly, your plan will do that on its own. :/
And that's all I really have on the matter.
For those who are wondering, I tend to lean left in social matters and right in money matters, but I like to get a full view and try not to trap myself in one party. I am registered and I do know who I'm voting for. If you're wondering who, let's just say I like having a low co-pay on the progesterone tablets I HAVE to take (for regulation and pain relief, not for the purpose America markets them for.)

Activity (Input appreciated!)
General | Posted 13 years agoI realize I'm not that active (usually) on here has far as journals and the like, but I'm 55% submissive. I'm afraid I'll spam up my watcher's imboxes and annoy them. That being said, I don't want to see offish, rude, or unfriendly! I love friends! They're why I'm even in the furry community!
So I was wondering; would you like to see more personal journals, like at least every week, or as they are now, when more relevant things happen?
Thanks for your time!

Volunteering and Saving a Rat
General | Posted 13 years agoI've begun to volunteer at my local Pawmetto Lifeline. Imma be a crazy cat lady. xD I like dogs, but I dun wanna push my allergies too far.
In other news, there is a rat at my local Petsmart, and he has BAD territorial issues. He draws blood any time someone gets near him. I know he won't get adopted this way, and they do, too. So he has been condemned to a life in the back of the store. I decided to change this. I am going to pay to get him neutered, since Petsmart would never finance that. I can't take him home, because Dusty has NO interest in another rat (my vet said there is a small percentage of rats who are like that; they only want their people), so I would just be getting him fixed and then introducing him to the other rats they're selling so he can be out on the floor.
The operation will cost around $100, depending on how long it takes, so I'm budgeting for $200. If anyone wants to help, I'm open to doing art in exchange. All proceeds will go to his operation. Please spread the word!

Marriage Equality in America
General | Posted 13 years agoI have never found a non-religious reason to be against marriage equality (because calling it "gay marriage" sets it apart from heterosexual marriage). And as our first president said and our constitution says, we are a religiously-neutral country (despite whatever our pledge and/or money says), with separation of church and state, and we have the right to the pursuit of happiness. Thus, unless someone can present me with a valid legal argument as to why same-sex marriage should not happen, I support it.
Before they're presented to me:
Homosexual couples do not present a good family set-up for children!
A)Single parents, B)Those raised by family members, not parents, C) Adoption and artificial insemination are not related to marriage; you don't have to get married to have a child in these ways, D) You're suggesting that we should enforce our unequal gender and sex stereotypes; the law sets most of these as invalid (save military, because of the physical make-up of women and the draft)
It will damage our social structure!
The same was said about interracial couples. We seem to have adapted just fine.
People would abuse the marriage system!
They already do. You think people don't get married to evade taxes, or to stay in the country? Ha! This is why the government has people to investigate shady marriage situations.
Polygamy would be next!
And what's wrong, legally speaking, with polygamy? It's harder to make work, but if you can, then good for you.
They're going to take away our religious rights!
How so? I know of no couples who wish to force a church to marry them, where they will be hated and discriminated against. Further more, there are churches who DO accept same-sex couples, and thus the couples will go THERE and leave you alone.
I'm protecting the sanctity of marriage!
A) Marriage is a legal concept as well (after all, that's what we're arguing about, isn't it?), B) so are these people.
You don't need to get married to have gay sex!
You don't need to get married to have heterosexual sex, either. So gee, they must be wanting to get married for the same reason as you - love!
They just chose to be that way, so they can choose to be straight!
So tell me, when did you wake up and go, "I think I'm going to find the opposite sex sexually attractive today." You didn't? What makes you think homosexual/bisexual/pansexual/queer people went, "I think I'm going to find the same sex/both sexes/people sexually attractive today"?
So. Present me with a valid legal reason to oppose marriage equality.
