Anthrocon
Posted 3 months agoI will NOT be at Anthrocon this year. I might show up on Saturday, but I don't have the stamina to last out the day on my feet, let alone three days. Since attendance is being capped this year, and there's no guarantee they're allowing on-site registration, there's a possibility I might only briefly show up to ghost the Westin to see a couple people. I just can't yet post surgery, and the other foot lost a lot of it's conditioning from the reduction in walking. Getting there though!
I thought about selling, since that's not on feet, and I usually do, but you have to be registered for the whole event to even be in the running for a slot, and you're not guaranteed to be assigned a slot for all three days. It is what it is.

Urge the US Government to Protect Habitat
Posted 4 months agoThe US federal government wants to change the endangered species act so that it no longer protects habitat.
This change is open for public comment until the end of May 19.
Wildlife need their habitat. If habitat is no longer protected, the implications for wildlife would be catastrophic.

Hi Guys
Posted 7 months agoNot sure how active I will be here. I've been spending a lot of time on Fet, which contrary to it's purposes has a lot of stringent guidelines about what you can upload. Despite this, I'm sure this site also has stringent guidelines about what I could upload, and frankly a lot of my art lately, has been applied to human skin (usually my own).
I managed to finally get the job: I now write code for a living! A far cry from cybernetic enhancements, but it will do, and it makes my spirit sing. So gone are the days of wishing I could just stay home.
I still like the idea of pursuing art, but I'm just not active enough in the community, nor do I keep up with socials, so it's just not in the cards.

Ideas Post
Posted 2 years agoAs I am getting things together, I decided I might look into multiple avenues for engagement, and income.
I'm going to start actively sharing some software development stuff I've been up to, regardless of whether it pans out to a finished product or not.
Keep you all in the loop with game development stuff, such as my kicking around in Unity, Blender, and Unreal (seriously, if you are interested in game development check this engine out! It's so easy to use compared to others I have dabbled in the past).
Put a brag post about my profile webpage that I built myself. Even if that runs the risk of crossing my mundane identity, and furry/ sadomasochistic one. (At this point, if a company doesn't want me, because I am a freak, I don't want them).
Switch from traditional to digital art, because I can sell with instantaneous transfer of products. Traditional will remain open, but at a significant mark up to make the process, materials, and shipping worth it.
I'm kicking around the idea of having a Patreon, BuyMeACoffee, SubscribeStar, and Kofi account for potential recurring income. The problem is I am often a porn artist. I often produce sadomasochistic, and gore porn, which are against the TOS on those sites. Some of the obvious consensual stuff (like the shibari lizard I drew), can go up on SubscribeStar (which will not allow pornographic material, or fetish stuff; like pictures of floggers you made, but will art? I'm very confused where their line is at). That same thing can't on the other three, even though the lizard is wearing a G-String, and any S&M content showing fear can easily be considered "rape" by SubscribeStar and taken down.
Go through my backlog of stuff that never made it onto the site, because of whatever reason, and start posting more content, whether it is new or not, as long as it still looks good.
I got some good ideas for S&M Lifestyle, Gender Identity, and Sexuality pins. So I'll also be looking into producing, and selling merch, as well as commissions, and badges. I may look into a survey to figure out what kind of products will sell at convention to figure out how to maximize that. Merch is both a thing I need for quick, cheap sales at Conventions, but also one of the biggest things I fear getting into, because making the wrong thing will mean product sitting in my house costing money I don't have.
Continue with time trials and quick sketches, and start posting them.
Introduce my universe of species I created, that I've had sitting around for decades. Just haven't decided if they are going in a webcomic, or potential PC game. Though I gotta get back on my storytelling skills: Talk about rusty!

Help Me Quit My Job
Posted 2 years agoFurry artists, please give me your wisdom.
I desperately want to quit my job. I realized the reason I don't get art time after all these years is I can't side gig well.
My attempt to get a software job has all but fallen short, making me feel like the last 10 years of putting everything I held dear in life aside to learn while still working, was a complete waste of time.
I DO NOT want to drive a bus for the rest of my life.
So suggestions about how you are successful are greatly appreciated.

Anthrocon 2023 and Announcements
Posted 2 years agoI'll be there!
I've come to realize how much I hate the fact I am not doing art for a living, and will be trying to eventually shift my work load from buses to art.
So I'm hopefully going to be a lot more active here and in other places. Gotta get that advertising, and views!
Also, for those of you who knew I was pursuing software development, I still am. I have an Associates, but it seems like getting a job is still a crap shoot. So I've decided to try to freelance that. Kicking around ideas. Hopefully I can make enough on my own in both disciplines so that I can quit driving all together, to go straight up creative. Also hoping somehow to get into game development, but it seems like my favored technology stack is of course, not the one I need to be in for games.
Anyway, hope to be more active. Commissions are open, however, I wont have finalized pricing just of yet. Soon though.

What you get: full size image to print for yourself, desktop size (let me know your preferred resolution/layout; phone or computer), and cropped icon.
Ask about traditional artwork offerings.
****ALSO if you know/are a member of the Medical community, or work in positions associated with it (Housekeeping/Sanitation, Cafeteria, Admin, Dispatch, EMS etc) let me know! I want to do a (FREE) collage honoring those of us who are threatened by Covid-19 the most.
I may be expanding this to Supply Chain, Food/Retail/Gas, Utilities and Trash Collection, but would prefer to have enough to do a separate collage for them***

Free Medical Portrait Collage
Posted 5 years agoIf you work in, know someone who works in, the Medical, Research or EMS field, let me know.
Want to do a collage to commemorate those of us out there fighting to keep people alive.
If you have a medical themed fursona, you could also opt in.
However, I want to prioritize those who are currently working, and those who are retired, or are current med students, who could be called to duty.
No restrictions on number of people: Got a 14'' by 17'' to fill. Yes, I can manage drawing humans if you don't, or they don't, have a fursona.
As I was once a veterinary student, I fully recognize that, if circumstances were different, I could very well be out there today too.

Quarantine Con Commissions
Posted 5 years agoI decided I am doing it, welcoming myself back into the art biz with this theme.
We are all stuck at home, or working front line jobs like crazy, hoping to hell we, or our friends/family, don't get infected. We're watching people we know get apprehensive of cases piling up, hearing about health care workers starting to succumb to the disease. People are starting to act like me, an introvert, and it is unnerving.
What we need is normalcy, and a reminder to keep our spirits up.
So in honor of the Conventions now shuttered for the year, we need badges!
So I've got 6 slots for badges ($30), waist up, plus name, whatever Quarantine related theme (PPE, hazmat, bio-research, scruffy unkempt fur etc) you can think of:
1:
2:
3:
4:
5:
6:
ex: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/35553553/ , except waist up, gotta see enough for the theme!
Secondly, if you are, or want to honor, a front-line, or supply chain worker, I am offering 1 character commissions ($70) with simple shading and background ($55, for no background). Anything more complex can be discussed, but I won't be doing anything near the level of complexity of Cross Dimensional Soldier, or Malken's commissions, for any less than $180, due to the time involved to create them (18-24 hours).
I don't have any examples of these that are SFW, that aren't very old.
1:
2:
3:
Alternatively, I am willing to try my hand at digital badges for ($25), and digital commissions for ($60), since I don't have to ship them
I have never officially offered digital commissions before, because I am primarily a traditional artist, but I have done digital art from time to time
ex: badge-like: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/14073178/ , commission-like: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/14477640/
Payment will be Paypal, message me.
Personally, I think we should create an Online Fur Con (Twitch, Discord, massive servers, etc), but I am not very good at organizing things.

Quarantine Badges?
Posted 5 years agoAsking because I know I handle things with dark humor, but partly wonder if it is poor taste.
Would anyone be interested in badges/commissions for Quarantine Con?
Medical themed, PPE, Hazmat suits perhaps, rubberized hazmat/ gas masks?
Or perhaps more seriously: celebratory commissions, commemorating those of us working front line positions, such as; emergency response, medical, grocery, gas station, and supply chain; utilities, trucking, transportation, factories, farms, raw materials, etc that is keeping society running the best it can in these times.

More Uploads and Patreon
Posted 5 years agoSo I will be opening commissions within the next couple days. I went to create my updated pricelist etc, only to realize my gallery is severely lacking in content, to display on said list.
Most of my work has been through selling at Anthrocon over the last few years. So I had to root through my phone pics to find my content over the last two years. Although I remember asking everyone involved, if you see your commission or badge posted and then used as an example, and DON'T WANT IT TO BE, Contact me immediately. I'll pull a different example.
So expect a bit more content.
Also I am considering starting a Patreon! Let me know what you want to see more of.
As per usual, my only restrictions are No X-Rated Cub stuff (clean/ non-fetish is fine) and No Poop. Literally, everything else, is fair game.

In case you were wondering
Posted 6 years agowhy it seems like I am uploading a lot of images specifically for one customer.
I very, very rarely get a chance to draw art anymore, as I have been trying (unsuccessfully) to change jobs into software over the last three years, to leave my mundane, unwanted job that I have been doing for the last 13 years.
However, I do have a lot of Anthrocon art in the backlog I will eventually post (though the images I have from the Con itself are cell photos of the art I made).
Not being able to do art has been very frustrating, especially because it is not profitable to be my only job, unfortunately. However, I never wanted to drive for a living (my 13 year, "temporary" job that was supposed to get me back into college HA!), flip burgers or run retail, and those are my only options. I tried software because it is something I can teach myself, after a robotics engineer (what I always wanted to be) suggested it. But it has been a long, long, 7 year journey, to get people to notice me enough to hire me.
I really do miss doing art on a regular basis, especially the kinkier stuff I regularly produced in my early 20's. A lot of it I wish I could redo with the skills I have.
Anyway, figured some of you would like to know.
If I figure out a way to make art profitable enough, I will. Would love to be a full time artist.
Signing off before this becomes a block of mindless rambling.

Change is Coming
Posted 7 years agoI've had a wake up call come for me from several years ago, back when I made art unbounded by the laws of physics, whether it was arguably part of a fandom or community.
I had created an entire universe of characters and species, back when I was a major scifi and toonami fan. My writing at the time was mostly Star Trek fanfics and I didn't get around to using my creations, but they have always been there, waiting.
I came across a listing for concept artist for a game dev company, and it all came flooding back to me. I'm going to create their stories and make them real, as a web comic.
I owe it to them and I owe it to me.

Dear Past Comissioners
Posted 9 years agoI need your permission.
I noticed this last Anthrocon, my print folder is severely lacking in new art. I think this is probably negatively affecting my ability to sell art.
I am not asking to sell prints of your commissions, but basically to show them off as examples of my art.
Any commission offered for viewing in my print folder will be marked as "not for sale".
If I amass enough newer art to justify it, I will put my examples into a different folder from my print folder.

Anthrocon 2016!
Posted 9 years agoI will be there!
I'm guaranteed a spot in Sunday's artist Alley and I will probably vie for a spot on Sat and Fri.
I will only take a very limited number of commissions that I can't finish at the convention. Otherwise it will be general convention fare:
Badges (colored pencil/black paper or scratchboard)
Sketches
Inks
Prices are marked on my price plate. Hope to see you there!

Anthrocon Recap
Posted 10 years agoI had a blast: Went to the raves, checked out a couple performances, got some CDs.
For two days, I got to feel like a professional artist. Although next time, I will make sure to pre-reg so I don't have to get leftovers. I will also make sure I actually have my art show pieces in early enough to enjoy a sale on Friday. (By the time they were up, it was too late to Artist Alley).
The whole con was spiritual uplifting and I thank the whole community for that. It literally is the only place that is that big that feels like it's a part of an extended family.
To my new watchers, I say hi. To my old watchers, I thank you for your patronage, even though I barely post anything.
I am not taking commissions for now, due to being in the middle of a career change (still trying to get into software). Maybe once I am settled into a new career, I will start to open them up again.

I will try to get Artist Alley. However, I didn't make Pre-reg, so there is a chance I won't find an open table.
I can't guarantee any specific day that I will be selling.

Programming: Took up Unity
Posted 11 years agoI've decided to delve into Unity (game creation SDK). I know it is going to push me into C# and JS before I really think I am ready for it. (I have been reading my C# manual for a decent while now.) As it is though, I still don't think I know C++ all that well. However I do follow the others along pretty well. The group I have been attending has been very interesting: introduced to Xamarin, VS for Web and Phone, Windows Azure, the latest was StreamInsight. Got to see some on JS and SQL as well. I look forward to every meeting.
The other day I decided to google up some interview questions and found myself just staring at them. It made me feel a lot like Wheatley: a moron who believes he is a genius amidst real experts. If you played Portal2 you know who I am talking about.
There is still that mental disconnect for me. Where I know it should/can work, but I still don't feel or trust what my compiler tells me. I can look at code and read it well, but don't really understand what makes it do what it does or where the coder started to create it in the first place. I really do want to understand backend mechanics, things like optimization, learning algorithms, how exactly a server works, authentication etc. IE: the things that you code that don't yield an immediately visible result.
I am hoping that having something concrete that uses my own graphics will really help hammer my understanding of what code is and what it does home. And hopefully I will create something awesome in the meantime.
Well anyway, I've created my first 2D sprite (yay) of my dog. Now if I can figure out how to get it to move right...

$25 regular marker/colored pencil or colored pencil on black Artagain paper
$35 Scratchboard (no color)
$40 Scratchboard with marker

+$10 full body
COMMISSIONS (up to Three Characters):
Sketches: $15 basic pencil lines.
Micron Ink: $25 Very basic shading no charge, ink with full-on graphite shading $35

Markers/colored pencils: $45 (for just markers and just a little shading or no shading I will accept $40)
Scratchboard: $50/ $60 with markers, $65 with watercolor
+$15 per extra character over three. NOTE: This will not yield a larger image. However, it becomes a lot harder on me to pose and detail more than a couple characters in the same piece.
NO extra charge for WINGS, EXTRA TAILS, HORNS or other ELABORATE MARKINGS: While it does take longer to draw, I understand what you other birds, dragons etc, feel when you come across that extra charge.
Why the price difference between Scratchboard and the others? Scratchboard is not only more expensive to buy, it also takes longer to craft artwork with because each image has to be created line by line.

$25 regular marker/colored pencil or colored pencil on black Artagain paper
$35 Scratchboard (no color)
$40 Scratchboard with marker
$45 Scratchboard with watercolor *creates a softer contrast, because the watercolor deposits a small amount of color on-top of the black ink layer, however, it takes longer to get it to look right, because I have to blot the board to keep it from piling on too much
+$5 Waist-up
+$10 full body
COMMISSIONS (up to Three Characters):
Sketches: $15 basic pencil lines.
Micron Ink: $25 Very basic shading no charge, ink with full-on graphite shading $35
Graphite: $30 basically a fully shaded piece with graphite and possibly charcoal with a protective fixative spray
Colored pencil on Artagain paper: $40

Artist Alley Anthrocon 2014!!
Posted 11 years agoArtist Alley Anthrocon 2014
I will be there!!!! Details to be added when I find out when I am going be assigned and what I will be offering.
At the Con I will be taking only badges, sketches and inked work only to make sure whatever I do take will be done DURING the Con. I will not accept anything that might need to be shipped after the convention.
This might change depending on how I feel about it, but money is going to be tight this summer so chances whatever I would have after the Con might not get shipped until mid Fall. Basically I got screwed over this summer for work and I will need some extra cash.

Looking for a New Job?
Posted 11 years agoI have found this site to be invaluable to my own search for a job.
http://www.themuse.com/advice
It's basically free career advice, from structuring your resume, interviewing to even, dealing with issues on the job; be you an entry level whatever to a higher-level manager. It's not a hand-holding service: they won't do it for you and you're not going to find resumes to copy from. Rather the site gives hints and examples that might make the difference you need to land the job you want.
Just thought maybe someone else might find this site as useful as I have.
