In case you guys haven't heard the roaring of the Internet yet, Tim Schafer has launched a Kickstarter project for a new point-and-click adventure game.   Tim Freaking Schafer, the man who brought us Maniac Mansion, Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle, Monkey Island 1 and 2, Grim Fandango, Psychonauts, and all kinds of other amazing games.  You can help fund the project (and get the game) for a mere $15, with all kinds of extra goodies available for extra cash.  The Kickstarter project has been up for something like two days, and it's already almost up to a million dollars of funding.  It has already totally blown away the level at which the project would have enough money to move forward, so you can think of it as just a pre-order at this point.

Since it bears repeating, let me say again.  Tim Schafer is making another point-and-click adventure, and you can order it right now for $15!  This is huge, people!

Whelp, it's Sunday night! That means I'll be flying back tomorrow, and things are juuust about at an end. There's not too much to report today.

My last commission to pick up had to be converted to take-home work, but it'll be worth it when the final piece comes in. I just couldn't quite contain myself, though, so I also commissioned  sigil before the Dealer's Den closed. That one will have to be a take-home piece too, but hey. I've got plenty of stuff to post when I get home, and those pieces will be great when they're finished. ^^

There was lots of hanging out with people today, mostly with people from the previous days. I did get to hang with  kadath and crew for a while, which was highly awesome!

Tomorrow will be mostly traveling, and I'll have to crash out the minute I get home so I can make it to work. I'll try to put together a nice overall experience journal by the time I start uploading the pieces I commissioned, though. I seriously can't wait to share this stuff with you guys.

Today was a bit more mellow. Without the pressure of trying to commission everybody under the sun before they filled up, it was easier to just hang out and explore. I started out the day by picking up most of the pieces I commissioned yesterday. I now have all but one of them, and I should be able to grab that last one tomorrow. I can't wait to share some of this stuff with you guys. ^^

After that,  Caedere and I headed out to lunch with  necrodrone13,  mercy, and a whole mess of other people. After eating, I crawled around the San Jose Tech Museum for a while with Raptie,  Varka, and  nemekhs. There were some really neat exhibits in there, and we had lots of fun looking around. Thanks for having us, guys! :D

Later on, I tagged along to a dinner at an awesome Vietnamese place called Pho69 with  sargon and crew, and I happened to bump in to  hida! If anybody ever happens to stop by there, the papaya salad is really something.

Back at the lobby,  winddragon passed by, and we headed off for a bit to plan some more awesome times between 'Ette and Windy, so you guys can look forward with me to a fun surprise containing those two later on!  skadjer was also there, and it's a real treat to listen to his stories and insight.

I'm back at the room now, hanging around with  syrinoth,  tryst_entangled, and  bgyoshi. Fighting to stay awake, though. x_x

Okay, so I haven't done a final total yet, but I dropped a severe pile of money today in the Dealer's Den. Today, I met and commissioned the following people:

I can't wait to share some of this stuff! I don't even know how I'm going to get the Tojo piece home safely, though! The paper is so awesome and huge!

It was really, really fun to meet some of the people I've worked with before, and it was really cool to be recognized by some artists who I haven't!

Also, I totally got to meet  winddragon after the ADP! Speaking of which, the ADP needs more female dragons, people! We need to get on this!

Finally, I briefly met  dashingdragon and  restrainedraptor a couple hours apart. Hi, guys!

If yesterday I wondered where all the people were, I certainly got my answer today! The hotel lobby is a pretty constant mob, and there's furries of all variety absolutely everywhere.

--I briefly met  jace on the street, who remembered that I promised to say hello if our paths crossed!
--We got to hang out with  NecroDrone13,  mercy,  bgyoshi,  severus,  mca_jabberwocky, and  thenobo for quite a while today, which was lots of fun. I got a Necrohug!

Whelp, Wednesday is a wrap, and it has already been quite the experience. We flew in fairly early in the morning, so we had plenty of time to wander around and get a feel for the layout of the hotel and the convention center before everything gets rolling tomorrow. The con hasn't even really gotten started yet, but I'm already struck by how many furries there are openly walking around. I know that's kind of the idea, but it's still wild to see!

As expected,  Caedere knows everybody, and following him around has brought many fun times already. I briefly met  Narse in the lobby, which was pretty neat (I somehow even managed to not go all fanboy!). Raptie also bumped in to a passing  Ashadan, so I got to say hello to him too. Later on, after a long walk around outside, I got to meet  Varka and  NemekhS. They're both awesome dudes, so it was quite a treat to hang out over some sushi. Thanks for the fun, guys, you rock!

This is all still so new and crazy, and I have no idea what tomorrow will bring. I'm still very excited to meet you people out there, though, so I hope to run in to more of you!

In other news, I still love you guys! I would still be commissioning all of this stuff even if nobody came to see it, but it's just so much fun to have an audience. Great big thanks to everyone who watches and comments, and especially to you long-timers who get in to my characters' personalities and stuff. I like the "this is hot" comments just fine (and I leave my fair share on other people's submissions), but each "poor Slither, he just can't ever win!" is worth a hundred of those. ^^

Hey, as a bonus to anybody who's still actually reading this far, let's have a vote! I have some more commissions stored up for posting. Given the choice between a naughty Lizanne and a naughty FGS, which one would you guys like to see put up first? ^_~

 Caedere and I were out doing some errands when we were accosted by a belligerent and seemingly intoxicated person. He attempted to sell us a pair of sunglasses, then switched to asking for money when I told him we weren't interested. When he didn't get results, he started in invade our personal space while ranting about what he needed the money for. I circled around to put more open parking lot to my back, turned my torso sideways to him, held my holstered CCW by the grip, and started backing away from him while asserting that we still weren't interested.

Fortunately, he lost interest and went off to bother someone else. He wasn't an immediate threat, but he was acting unstable, and situations like that can turn badly very, very quickly. Had he continued to crowd us, I would have had to make a scene with verbal commands while attempting to leave the encounter, and my command voice is very loud. Had he pulled a weapon or otherwise escalated the situation further, things wouldn't have worked out well for anybody.

We went into the restaurant and ate while I dealt with the post-adrenaline shakes.

Anyway, everything turned out okay. I just needed to write that out before I could get on with the rest of my day. Hearts for all of you guys! <3

I know, right? I never thought I'd be saying this, but I'll be attending FC in January, 2012. Plane tickets bought, rental car reserved, badge commissioned, room booked, ticket reserved, and vacation approved... pretty hard to back out now! I'll be going with  yiffyraptor and yes, you'll have to suffer my pathetic "I have to get on a plane now, I love you guys" journals a second time. ^_~

I'm looking forward to hopefully putting some faces to some of the great people I've interacted with over the last twelve years or so (holy crap, has it been that long?), and maybe seeing again the small handful of those people I've already met when they passed through my town. Raptie, who has been to a bunch of these things now, always comes back with stories about how lots of people know about me and all of my silly crew. That's a really hard thing to believe, given that all I really do is commission people, but it would be pretty neat to find out if it's true.

So, what happened? Why am I going now? Well, Raptie has been after me for years, and some recent events have made me think about missed opportunities and if my reasons for not going (maintaining a sharp division between RL and fandom interests) really mattered all that much (they don't). So, hell with it, right? I'm an adult and I support myself. I can do what I like, and I don't have to answer to anybody for it. ^^ Maybe it'll be fun, and maybe it won't, but I'll be able to say that I tried something different.

Are any of the rest of you out there going? I don't expect anybody to get all excited about seeing me (it's not like I can draw you anything!), but I'd be happy to say hello if you come across me.

Science and engineering have cheated death once again, and I return home in one piece and only slightly worse for wear (airplanes just weren't made for tall people)!

My friends, it is with great pleasure that I announce my new status as an augmented human! ^^ I recently underwent an Epi-Lasik (all-laser Lasik) procedure to correct my awful vision, and it has been a resounding success. I now see better than 20/20 in both eyes, where I before couldn't recognize my own mother from further than about ten feet away without my glasses.

People talk about life-changing experiences, but I could never really relate until now. My crippling natural deficiency has been removed, a worthlessness excised, by science! I never realized the impact being nearly blind had on my self-esteem, but I feel much better about myself.

If anybody is curious about the procedure or experience, I'd be happy to share. ^^

I just squeaked past 1,400 watchers the other day. I know it's not a big, round number to celebrate, but I still think it's pretty darn cool. It's awesome to be able to share my commissions with you guys, and I hope you all enjoy them as much as I do. A couple people are even starting to make comments that suggest that they are getting into the personalities and backstories (such as they are) of my cast. That's downright awesome. ^^

In other news, a major upset! Sef's Jessi in the changing room has claimed the favs throne from the longstanding leader, Vera's Pregn'ette. That's pretty neat! As surprised as I am that one of my non-dragons has reached the top, I have to admit that the title has gone to a worthy piece. That commission is the very best Jessi that has been done yet, as far as I'm concerned. It's true to the character in form and theme, and it's a super sexy piece all on its own.
