Hey, gang!

I passed 1,000 watchers some time earlier this week, and my mind is still reeling with the news. It is pretty wild to me that there are a thousand of you out there watching my account, especially since I'm not an artist myself, and you can find pretty much all the works that I commission in other galleries here on FA.

When  Caedere went to FC the first time, he came back telling me that just about everyone he ran in to out there knew of me and my characters, and I could scarcely even believe it. I guess I have to acknowledge now that I'm at least a little well-known.

Not being an artist myself, I'll never achieve the super fame that some people around here enjoy, and I'm okay with that. It's really cool to me to know that Slither, Slitherette, Jenny, and the whole gang have fans, though.

Hey, gang! It's great to be back, and I'm sure you're all as glad as I am to see FA back up and running in a new colo. It makes me wish there was still a way to donate. Having the site back has me in a giving mood.

I don't have anything new to post just yet, but I have a ton of commissions in the works with various artists, so stay tuned!

 Piumartiglio has posted her 2009 Halloween project! It's a fun piece of a whole bunch of different characters dressed up in their costumes. FYS appears as Boneclaw Mother from the excellent comic Digger.

Man, all of the people I'd just die to commission aren't accepting any. They're either overworked, allergic to money, or they're intimidated by the size of my frills. It must be that last one. ^^

Nothing against anyone, of course. They don't exist to draw porn for me, and I'm never pushy about it. I'll just mope in my corner and fantasize. ^_~

Hey, gang!

Can anybody out there write in Japanese? I'm going to be in Japan for a little while, and I'd like to have an important piece of medical information written on a card my person when I visit.

I can't speak or write a word of Japanese, and it would be a huge help if someone could help me translate two short sentences. I'd also welcome comments from anyone knowledgeable in Japanese culture regarding this plan and possible taboos. Would someone in Japan find it offensive to be shown a card with some kanji written on it by a foreigner, assuming the text itself was not offensive?

At the time of this writing, I have 376 watchers, which I think is really cool, especially when you consider that I'm not an artist at all. Just about every picture I put up, I have commissioned. That means, of course, that nearly all of what I post can be found elsewhere on FA. I know that most of the watches are reflexive responses to seeing porn, but I like to think that maybe my characters have a few fans too.

To show my appreciation, I'd like to run a little contest. I always get a kick out of it when other people run these, but I always figured I couldn't join in, not being an artist myself, but I think this might work. Maybe it will even be fun!


Contest in Brief

Whoever can give me the best idea for their character having fun with Slitherette will win the contest. The prize will be me finding an artist to agree to take on the idea as a commission, which I will pay for. There is no fee to enter this contest, and multiple entries are allowed. To enter, just post your idea as a reply to this journal.


Details

Okay, here are the finer points of this contest. The gist of it is explained above, but please do read these points. They're helpful!

--I'm doing this as an experiment. If the response is very low, or I don't like any of the ideas, I reserve the right to call the whole thing off. I think this is fair since entry is free.

--By entering, you agree to allow me to post the resulting commission in my gallery. I will cite you as the owner of your character, and provide a link to your profile, if you like. You must also agree to allow the artist to do whatever they like with the work.

--The judging will be conducted solely by me, by whatever criteria I decide on, and whatever whim takes me. I will pick the entry that I like the most.

--You may submit any idea from G to NC-17.

--A suggestion: Entries can be in-character (describing why 'Ette would enjoy your idea) or out of character (describing why it would make an awesome picture).

--I will approach the artist I think would be best for the winning entry, and attempt to negotiate a commission. Therefore, the value of the prize will vary wildly with how much I like the idea. I am willing to front up to $100 for the picture if the winner impresses me enough, so you -may- score a picture from a well-known artist. No promises, though! The artist actually has to be accepting commissions, so forget those big, -big- names right now.

--If you have reference pictures, please include links with your entry. Being able to provide the artist with good references makes your idea much more likely to win.

--Stealing and improving on other people's ideas is allowed and encouraged!

--I am setting a tentative end date for this contest one week from today, July 1st, 2008.

--My immediate friends probably shouldn't enter.

I've just spent a few weeks throwing emails at everyone who has ever done art for me, commission or otherwise, and I'm pleased to announce that I have gotten the go-ahead for my little plan.

I can't imagine why I have watchers, since I'm not even remotely an artist, but I figure that I ought to at least give you folks something to look at in return. I've decided to post here all the pictures of my characters that I've ever had done for me or have received as gifts.

I don't imagine I'll be as popular as  drayk, but it will be fun just the same!

Now, on to the uploading. Let's see how bad I can screw this up...

Am I the only one that thinks that the April 1st Fender is about a thousand times hotter than the normal Fender?

Heck, I'd donate if we could keep girl dragon Fender around!
