Stories: txt vs docx
Posted 6 years agoWhen it comes to any text files I upload I've always written them in word and then converted them into txt for posting. There's been a couple reasons for this:
-Avoids the extra click to download
-The file is directly readable on-site
However, I have been considering switching to just uploading the docx file.
I've created a twitter poll to gauge thoughts on this, found here:

Fur-Eh Wrap Up
Posted 6 years agoSo I'm home from Fur-Eh! 2019. One of the big differences this year is that I hosted my first panel and did some volunteering. Made some new friends, including a few who recognized my character and were flabbergasted to learn I was local to the area. It's something I'm growing more used to as it does seem to happen more often each year.
---Vore Panel
I hosted a vore panel and found it to be a success beyond even my best expectations. It turned out to be a highly anticipated panel as I heard plenty of people discussing about attending it before I hosted it. Seems many were curious what it was all about and what I had to say. I didn't realize that vore panels were such a rarity among cons in general and was informed that even the big ones don't have them, so it was a bit of a unique feature in the programming.
It was my first panel, so I did end up rushing through my material and presentation. Was a blessing in disguise though as it was the last panel of the day at 11PM and people were tired. Despite the improvements I can make the panel seems to have been well received as I heard nothing but positive feedback.
During the panel I mentioned that I actually based my presentation on an un-published vore article I wrote. One of the few questions I had after-ward was a request for me to post it, so expect to see that article posted to my FA in the coming days!
I have ideas for a second panel next year, and it'll be interactive as well.
---Journals
In the coming days I'm going to be making a series of call-out journals to fulfill various plans and ideas. Suggestions would be appreciated!

Fur-Eh 2019
Posted 6 years agoI'll be at Fur-Eh in Edmonton this weekend. If you're attending do let me know if you'd like to meet up! I'll be leaving Thursday morning so a tweet is likely the best method to reach me if you don't have any of my IM information.
I'll also be hosting a panel on vorarephilia on Thursday night at 11PM. It's late, I know, but all adult rated panels take place after 7PM this year and I happen to be the last panel of the day. Hopefully I won't be super tired considering I'll be up at 6-7'ish AM that day.
I'll be doing some volunteering at the convention, too, so you might see at the pre-registration desk.

Shinies Enabled
Posted 6 years agoSo enabling the new shiny system on my account was a no-brainer as I've already got my PayPal set-up and linked on my profile anyway. It'll also allow me to remove my ko-fi link as the shiny tipping system basically accomplishes ko-fi's function directly on-site (And no one has used it to date).
1500 Watches
Posted 6 years agoLooks like that last submission of mine (After Party) was popular enough to push me over 1500 watchers. I normally don't do anything special, but it's been awhile since I hit my last milestone so thought I'd mention it.
Fur-Eh 2019
Posted 6 years agoFur-Eh is a month away!
---Room available
I have a room booked for the nights of 13-15 (Edit, 13-16) and need some roommates to split costs with.
-Your share must be e-transferred to me or pre-arranged to give to me in cash before I give you a room key.
-I can likely extend the booking if required, but you will be fully responsible for the extra costs.
-Fits 4 people (2 double queens). I will not allow extra people.
-Please be respectful. I like my room to be a quiet place to retreat to and recharge, so get-togethers/parties/drinking/smoking are to be kept to a minimum.
-No illegal drugs or substances.
EDIT: I arranged a ride that will have me extend the booking to the 16th as well, keep in mind you only split the nights you are present for.
EDIT May 12: One spot left.
---Panel schedule
The tentative panel schedule got released today, and the panel that I'm hosting on vorarephilia will be the last panel on day 1, Thursday at 11PM.

Stuff! Finals, birthday, Fur-Eh, poll result, etc.
Posted 6 years agoHere's an update journal aggregating a series of announcements and the like.
---Finals
It's been a busy semester with most courses having group work components. I'll still be somewhat busy with reading I need to catch up on before my finals over the next couple weeks.
---Birthday
I usually don't make a deal out of promoting my birthday, but it's on April 23rd for those who are interested.
---Fur-Eh
I'll be at Fur-Eh again this year! I have a room available if anyone would be interested in splitting costs.
---Fur-Eh Panel
I'll be hosting my first panel at Fur-Eh as well! It's vore themed, and I'm taking a more educational approach on it as I feel I can explain the different aspects of why people enjoy it. I wrote up an article draft a few months ago that I'll be using as my base, so I might upload that at some point.
---Result of YCH Style Stories Poll
Unfortunately my presence on Twitter isn't huge so I only got a sample size of 11 votes, but 9 of them said yes in some capacity. As a result I'll be doing an experimental YCH story in the near future. I have a few ideas for it, just have to settle on one.

What content would you like to see more of from me?
Posted 6 years agoI made a journal last night asking about adopting a YCH style sale of story slots, found here (click). Preliminary results seem to indicate a much larger margin of acceptance to the idea than I first thought.
Now I'd like to ask what type of content you'd like to see from me, both in my own written work and the art I commission?

Poll: Would it be worth selling slots in a story YCH style?
Posted 6 years agoSo, here's the situation. I've accepted that I will never offer stories as commissions for various reasons which include factors such as intermittent inspiration and the fact that I'm a slow and deliberate style writer, meaning that my "wage" per hour would be abysmally bad. However, I do write on occasion and would like to write more often, but mostly as personal work. At times it feels like a waste to feature "NPC" type characters, so the idea came to mind that I'd sell off slots that would normally be filled by NPCs. I've also noticed that YCHs for stories are rare, at least in my browsing experience.
The question: Would you be interested in story slots sold off as YCH style? If so, as a flat fee or bidding style? Considering that I may never offer public commissions as a writer it may be the only way to get something written by me if you like my writing enough to do so.

Beast's Feast Update
Posted 7 years agoHello there, just a quick update regarding the Beast's Feast story. I have a rough outline planned and just need to find the time and drive to write it, which will most likely occur when I finish with my university semester next week. Theoretically I should be able to complete the story by the end of December.
-Bonus!
I'm willing to put forth some money towards a commission to go along with the story. If I can get enough contributions from Beast's Feast's participants and followers in general then the quality of the commission can be improved! All for a nicely fed dragon, eh? *Grins*
Ko-fi Page
PayPal.me
Artist suggestions are also welcome. The ideal artist would be proficient with heavy musculature and quadruped dragons, and be ok with vore and hyper fetishes.

Beast's Feast still open. New donation links, details
Posted 7 years agoAlright, two important topics to discuss!
---Beast's Feast (NSFW)
I haven't yet closed entries for my Beast's Feast project, and have decided that there is no need to close entries until I can begin work on the story. My fall semester break begins on Saturday, November 10th so I will keep entries open until about November 7th or so.
You can enter here: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/8882822/
---Opening for donations
That said, I had some success in my last journal discussing donations. Most are indifferent or accepting of it, and a couple friends suggested that I can use donated funds to commission artwork to accompany stories. Considering that Beast's Feast would be an excellent project to commission a picture for I've set that as my first goal on my new ko-fi page!
If you'd like to donate funds towards commissioning a picture for Beast's Feast, or would just like to donate to me in general, you can do so at:

A discussion on commissioners taking tips, donations, etc.
Posted 7 years agoYou can vote on my Twitter polls here: https://twitter.com/Crimson_Slyther.....53418039193600
Monetary contributions are nothing new in the art community. It's a service based industry with customized products and therefore it's quite common to see artists take donations and tips. However, this discussion is not about the artists; it's about commissioners.
Donations to artists are done for a variety of reasons. The creation of artwork is either their hobby or direct source of self-employment, and monetary contributions are supplemental and bonus income that shows appreciation, helps them cover bills, and in some cases enables them to rely less on commissions and create more personal work.
Commissioners, on the other hand, are the customers who purchase the services of artists. It is very much a luxury, and often times commissioners are not themselves artists and have income from other sources. In a way, a commissioner whom accepts contributions is obtaining subsidized or free art, and the contributed money they use to fund the art is paid to the artist as revenue and not as supplemental income. From the artist's perspective it doesn't matter how their customer's got their money as one commission is the same as any other commission.
That leaves us with this conclusion as to the end result of the effects of contributed money:
When the artist receives it directly, it's supplemental income
When the artist receives it through a customer, it's primary revenue
We can then infer that if you want to support artists that you should contribute to them directly and not through commissioners; commissioners cannot back up the fact that the money they receive to commission artists with 'supports' the artist, as the artist is not better off financially taking a commissioners donated funds versus the money of another commissioner.
But! Supplemental income to the artist need not be the only end goal. People often donate to artists because they're fans of their character(s), why then can you not donate to a commissioner because you are a fan and would like to see more art of them? An example of this is comics such as "Here There be Dragons", and fans of the comic will often donate to the creator to keep the comic going. But why comics specifically? What if you just like the character in itself?
We can take this statement:
"I am a fan of this comic, and therefore I will contribute to see more of it"
Can be morphed into:
"I am a fan of this character, therefore I will contribute to see more of them"
Which leads us to conclude that while commissioners are in effect receiving supplemental income to subsidize art purchases, there is valid reasons in donating to that commissioner.
---Methods of donation
Whether or not you agree that contributing to commissioners is acceptable, the above discussion leads me to what people prefer and find most convenient when donating funds. So that's the question I'll ask, what methods of donation do you prefer? Kofi? PayPal? Patreon? Other?

Beast's Feast Roll Call! Mass Vore Story Project
Posted 7 years agoEdit: NSFW! Warning had already been given below but this will help make that fact more prominent.
Edit: New donation links, details below!
I've had a fun idea for a story project, though an ambitious one! The idea? Mass vore. What's the catch? Every participant is an actual character, no generic NPC's!
Here's the details:
-Slyther's quadruped form will be the staring predator.
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/22794047/ (NSFW)
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/17224947/ (NSFW)
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/14669866/ (NSFW)
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/14599025/ (SFW)
-Volunteers will be prey for Slyther and can choose between oral or cock vore.
-18+ only due to sexual content!
-Participants will be worked into the story with varying degrees of prominence. Your character may be mentioned in a single line or could fulfill a larger roll at my discretion.
-I reserve the right to decline entries for any reason.
-Please keep it to one character per person.
-Digestion will occur or otherwise be highly implied!
-The story will be written by me!
-Picture commissions are a possibility, but no guarantees. I'd appreciate being consulted on any form of fan and gift art related to this project.

*You have encountered a peculiar advertisement*
"You are hereby invited to Lord Slyther's estate to partake in a feast held in his honour. What's on the menu? You! Yes, you have the opportunity to present yourself to provide him your ultimate servitude and willingly become one with the great Beast!"
*Further instructions and details are enclosed*
---
To volunteer as prey for Slyther I'd like the following details:
Character name:
Reference link, if available:
Species:
Gender:
Bipedal, Quadruped, Other:
Height (If Quadruped specify at shoulder or head):
Oral, Cock, or Either:
One personal effect:
Optional. Extra quirks, keep it brief:
(Edit: Been asked this twice already. Personal effect is a belonging or something identifiable to your character.)
Do not give me your weight! I don't need it, and most people are notoriously bad at estimating it any way. Not all details you provide me will necessarily be used in the story but knowing them gives me options and allows me to know what I'm working with.
If you would like to remain anonymous you may choose to note me your entry along with your request for anonymity. Anonymous participants may still be included but naturally will likely take on a lesser role.
F-list users may note me their entries on F-list. Remember to specify if you want anonymity. Do note, however, that while you don't need an account to view FA journals, you will likely need an FA account to read the finished project as it will most definitely be marked as adult content which is only viewable by registered users.
This project may take me several months to write once I've gathered all the entries, be patient!
Edit: New donation links! If you would like to donate funds towards commissioning a picture for the story project, or would like to just donate to me in general, you can do so at either https://ko-fi.com/slythercrimsonclaw or https://www.paypal.me/SlytherCrimsonclaw

Artist Appreciation
Posted 7 years agoMy picture collection is growing large enough that I'm currently renaming everything to a new naming scheme that will bring consistency and hopefully achieve better organization. Naturally going through every single picture I've ever gotten has brought back some nostalgia and memories, as well as reminded me just how much certain artists and friends have done for me in the past.
So I'd like to take a moment to sincerely thank all the artists that have drawn me in the past, and especially to those who may have drawn me at no charge.
This also marks ten years of which I've been in the commission business, as my earliest submissions are dated 2008. Hard to believe it's been ten years already, though I plan to continue to actively commission.

Birthday
Posted 7 years agoAnother birthday, another year. Not much to report on, other than some stuff I can recap. Many may have noticed the lack of activity on my account which in large part is due to the fact that I've been keeping myself on a strict budget. As I've mentioned previously I'm now working through a small backlog I've stockpiled.
Looking back on my last birthday journal I see that I reported the end of a relationship which led into a year of being single. Seems fitting that I should report that I'm now in a new relationship as of a month ago. We'll see where things progress, though I'm hoping that I can get him up here to Fur-Eh 2018 in June.
I'm hoping I can get into a co-op summer work term for the University, going through the registration process now to get all set up for it. Some money would be nice to have, as well as a chance to use the new suits my dad bought for me as a graduation gift.

I posted? *Gasp!* Fur-Eh! 2018, Graduating
Posted 7 years agoYes, I mentioned in my previous journal that I've been sitting on a small backlog of submissions, so I'll be slowly posting them over the next week or so!
I'll be at Fur-Eh! 2018 in Edmonton in June. If you're going to be there and would like to meet, let me know!
I'm also done with all my finals, so now I'm waiting a week for my graduation. As mentioned previously I'm transferring to the University to get my degree, so got another two-three years ahead of me still.

Rawr! College, Pictures
Posted 7 years agoLooks like I cracked 30k pageviews.
Got a couple weeks of college left and will be graduating. However, I'm transferring to the University to continue onward to get my degree, as I need it to get a CPA designation.
Check out some vore commissions by my new boyfriend, pandottermon! I'll post them on my account eventually, I have some backlog I need to upload.
