Major commission being refunded, seeking new artist
Posted 12 years agoA long overdue commission has now officially been cancelled by the artist, and now I'm searching for someone new to take over the idea.
It is a bit higher budget, original commission was $80. Here's my criteria:
-Scene is action based
-Scene is macro
-Scene is mature for major bulging
-Must be decent at musculature
-Scene has extra stuff like gloves/backpack/gun
-Quick turn-around highly desired, this is 10 months late already as is!

Know of artists good at beefy ferals? I'm looking!
Posted 12 years agoSo
trauron posted a similar journal, and I figure there's no harm in doing a sort of cross post to expose it to more watchers.
Essentially I'm looking for artists good at beefy feral art as to date I haven't been drawn as beefy as how I envision my feral form. Bonus if they're open...
And please don't suggest Neo, they're closed and very hard to obtain a spot from.

Moved and settling in
Posted 12 years ago
trauron, my new room mate, arrived on April 30th upon which we got the key to our condo and got internet set up. Spent a good chunk of yesterday moving into the condo with the help of my dad. We're mostly just settling in now ^.=.^

Five years of FA
Posted 13 years agoJust noticed that yesterday was the fifth anniversary of this accounts creation upon the site, hard to believe I've been a part of the furry community for over five years now.
As strange as it may sound this place truly has impacted my personal development in life, starting from the very beginning in helping me come to terms with being gay, to becoming more confident in myself.
I could write a lot more, but I think I'll keep the full impact the community has had on me private for now.

An update on this crimson dragon
Posted 13 years agoA general update on me:
---Moved + Finances
For those who don't know I moved back to Alberta. I won't go into specifics but I got my old job back and my current living arrangements make my monthly expenses significantly cheaper than it has been for the past few years. My debts are almost completely paid off so you guys will start seeing more commissioned artwork in the near-mid future. I should also be able to save up enough to attend a convention, though it may not be AC as I'm not sure it's worth the 800+ it'd cost.
---Messengers
Due to the job I mentioned above I'm not sitting at home all day any more, and for this reason alone may explain why I'm not on as much. My schedule is also a bit of a rough one for socializing, as I'm generally working 3-4 evening shifts on weekdays and days on the weekend.
To my MSN/WLM contacts, please ask for my Skype as I will not be merging MSN/WLM with it.
---FA backlog
It happened again... I'm up to over 5800 submissions and will be tackling that over the next few weeks.

Macro Games Round 4 Voting, a few hours left!
Posted 13 years agoIf you've yet to vote in Kindle's Macro Games there's still a few hours left to do so, I'd appreciate your vote over at http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/4060681/ !
Sorry for the late posting, I'd intended to post this sooner but it had slipped my mind.
King got a last minute surge of votes that's threatening the early established top 3, so every vote helps!

Macro Games Round 4
Posted 13 years agoHey guys, been awhile since I've been able to make a journal about this game! After a long delay Kindle has posted the next chapter of the contest and started voting for the next round. I placed third once again, a mere two points behind first!
The story can be found here (click)
The catch this time around is you can only vote for ONE person, and there is no bonus this time so a lot of the random component has been removed.
I'd greatly appreciate your vote! You can do so here! (click)

Why I don't like (most) kiribians
Posted 13 years agoSo it's been a few months since I've posted a journal yet there's nothing special happening with my life right now, so I've had the urge to go on a bit of a semi-rant on why I've come to not like how most people handle kiribians on this site.
I'm sure most of you know of what I'm talking about: The journals that often fill ones inbox most often advertising free art, sometimes stories, either done by the sponsor of the kiribian or bought from another artist within a budget. The two most common are "Screen-cap this arbitrary number!" or "Be my y watcher!". There's some other less common ones as well such as ones centring around favourites.
The problem is that most of these are highly unfair and flawed, especially on a site that in itself is flawed. Let me explain more in-depth about some examples.
---The Page-view Kiribian
Most are familiar with these: Get a screen-cap of an arbitrary number chosen by the host, then provide a link to the uploaded image proving you won.
1. This encourages an artificial spike in the hosts page-view count, brought on by people hitting the page in hopes of getting the free art.
2. Each unique visitor can only give one hit to a page per day, meaning that when you're sitting on a page hitting that F5 key you are in fact taking advantage of other people's hits.
3. This system rewards campers who have extra time on their hands and can sit around spamming that F5 key until that magic number pops up.
4. It's possible for numerous people to catch the magic number, resulting in multiple "winners". Most hosts get around this by saying the first one they get wins, thereby turning the kiribian into a frantic race when you do finally get that capture. This punishes those who were diligent in their capture yet still "lose" because someone else hit the "post comment" button two seconds before they did. I've personally been a part of a few kiribians where a half dozen people got nothing despite getting the magic number.
5. People need to work and sleep, the magic number may occur when they can't be available to capture it. I've gone to work knowing I'd miss the chance to get art.
The first of two additional notes: Timing can bother me. Sometimes you get people posting a kiribian just shy of the target number, rewarding people who happen to be on right now. I do enjoy it when the host posts the kiribian well in advance as the people who really care about getting art from them will keep the journal around as a reminder. Often this this gets ruined anyway as many times I've seen the host post a new journal right before they get the number, spiking their page-views again and basically saying "screw you" to the people that were waiting multiple weeks for that magic number.
The second extra note is that there is a certain exploit that can allow a single person or multiple people to spike a page count really high. Ever been participating in a kiribian where suddenly the page count starts jumping by 3-4 per page refresh? You've just witnessed this exploit, and without knowing it you are part of it to. I won't say details, but I'll point you to my old account drager (Click) where the majority of it's page-views are from me in a matter of a single minute back when I tested this exploit to verify it for myself. People do take advantage of it to win kiribians.
---The Watcher Kiribian
Where an artist rewards a user for being their [insert arbitrary number] watcher.
Despite all the flaws of the page-view kiribian above, when I see a watcher version like this in my inbox I can't help but see a big middle finger directed at me. Why? Because this type of kiribian does not reward your existing watch base in any way.
/sarcasm on
"Alright! Getting close to that thousand watcher milestone! I'll just click on this here journal button and advertise the fact that my 1000th watcher will get some free art! What's that? The journal only notifies people who are watching me anyway and can't hit that awesome + button a second time? Pssh, whatever, I only care about that number that measures my popularity on some internet site!"
/sarcasm off
I'm well aware that most people are innocent in their train of thought when they hit that journal button, but here are some other reasons this version sucks:
1. Often times this free art gets awarded to some random person who didn't even know about the kiribian.
2. Existing watchers cannot participate, and thus often feel cheated.
3. People will use secondary accounts to "win", bloating your watch list with useless accounts.
4. People will make dummy accounts, again bloating your watch list with useless accounts.
5. People will un-watch you just so that + button becomes available to press.
I think you guys will understand why this is my least favourite of all the kiribians out there.
---The Favourites Kiribian
I'm including this because I've seen it on occasion. Thankfully few people do this one. Basically you either screen-cap an arbitrary favourite number or be the notification that corresponds to that arbitrary number.
1. In most cases people have already favourited the artwork they like, this type of kiribian only encourages them to hit the favourite button on art they would have otherwise not.
2. The count can be manipulated by removing favourites, dropping the count so that they can re-favourite it later to "win"
3. Secondary/dummy accounts can favourite artwork, only serving to bloat the counter and cheat someone of a legitimate win.
---An Alternative! The Kiribian Raffle
Te reward your existing watch base, eliminate most unfairness, eliminate the need to screen-capture, eliminate the need to camp, as well as many other benefits I'd suggest using a system like this one. It's not without it's flaws, but it's a lot better than most of the systems used on the site.
When you're approaching or have approached a milestone, post a kiribian journal as normal. However tell your watchers to simply state that they'd like to enter and that's it. When you close entries, preferably upwards of a week or more to allow sufficient time, draw a random name of those who entered and reward that person.
It's kind of a raffle of sorts, and yes the host has to go through a little more work but it's a lot more fair! People have an equal chance to win, and they were given time to enter, plus they don't have to sit around hitting F5 over and over and hoping they hit the comment button first. It also circumvents the many flaws of the site.
And please, please don't make people have to advertise to enter. This is not meant to be one of those publicity stunts to gain more watchers, but rather a celebration of a milestone with your existing watch-base that got you there. Making people advertise re-opens another can of worms, and once again makes the existing watch base feel cheated.
---Final Thoughts
I rarely participate in kiribians now days, partly because of how most are a waste of time due to all of the flaws I've already pointed out. I got tired of spamming F5, only to have to race to post the image. I won some, I lost some, but let me say that even if you do win you may not ever see the prize! It was free after-all, the host isn't exactly obligated to hold their promise of a free prize.
I would gladly participate in a lot more of these raffle kiribians if more people did them. I know the publicity raffles that are rampant around the site are similar, but I don't like spamming my watchers with advertisement journals to enter them.
Some people may remember the last kiribian raffle I held a long while back, unfortunately I had to cancel that prize as we had difficulty finding an artist plus I couldn't afford it at the time. I do plan to hold more in the future, and will probably stick to writing a short story instead of having to restrict the winner to a limited budget that often times severely cuts ones options.
My final thought of the journal: I believe there is a psychological connection to the whole thing. People like big numbers, when those numbers get bigger they feel like they're growing in popularity. Most people will celebrate arbitrary numbers so they can see those numbers rise even higher. Thankfully most people mature past this mindset and realize that popularity on an internet site means almost nothing. Kiribians are meant to be celebrated with your watchers, not to use your watchers to get bigger numbers. Done properly, you can ensure to reward your current watchers while at the same time gaining more.

Guild Wars 2
Posted 13 years agoYes I've bought the game and it seems some of the local fur community as well as a few others will be playing on Maguuma, so I'll be playing on that server for now. As far as I understand world transfers will be free for as many times as you like for the first little bit until ArenaNet decides the populations have settled enough and begin charging for them, so friends can either transfer to Maguuma or perhaps I could be convinced to change worlds myself.

An Inspirational Body Transformation
Posted 13 years agoAs you guys likely know from some of my recent journals I've entered month 2 of my weight training. I was just doing some browsing and came across a picture that really serves as an inspiration.
This! --> http://www.furaffinity.net/view/8132833/
This is exactly the transformation I'm hoping to achieve, from normal to beefy goodness. There are a few differences, he's 6'3" so 155 pounds was skinny, I'm 150 pounds but I'm only 5'7", so I'm starting off at an ideal weight already.
Although I may not be able to become a 300 pound beast like Achilles is now aiming for, I do think I can attain lower 200's, though my actual goal is 180-185'ish when cut.
His replies to comments reaffirm what I've learned via research, that the gym and training is only half the battle. Food and diet is extremely important, and although I've got a basic diet in place now I'm still making adjustments and I'm still trying to increase my calorie intake a bit more. It's hard to know if the few pounds I've already gained is just water weight or actual mass.

One Month Gym Progress
Posted 13 years agoSo as I mentioned in a previous journal I started going to the gym, and today marks the beginning of month two. How do I feel about the first month? Well, I'm not as uber motivated as I was when I first started but I'm still dedicated to my goals. As far as progress goes I haven't noticed too much of a difference physically yet. According to the scale I have gained a few pounds since I started, at about 150 compared to 146, and yes I am attempting to bulk up so the weight is a wanted thing, just trying to get most of it to be lean mass. I think most of it is water weight though, but I think my muscles may be progressing along as well as they do seem firmer.
Still tweaking my diet as I go along, it's still debatable if I'm eating enough as I'm not sure if my added weight is water weight (Likely) or actual mass.
Anyway, my current lifts in pounds for those interested:
Current (Last journal)
Squat 135 3x5 (Unchanged, just hit this again last Friday as I had deloaded and was working back up again.)
Bench 105 3x5 (95)
Deadlift 175 1x5 (165)
Overhead Press 60 3x5 (Reset this one because I was having problem with it)
Power Cleans 85 3x5 (70)
Won't bother with accessories, nothing impressive

Macro Games Round 3
Posted 13 years agoHey there guys, thanks to your support I've made it to Round 3! And I got 3rd place for this round, meaning that I've got a real shot at winning this thing if I can continue to rally support!
I'd appreciate your vote for Round 3, this time you can vote for only TWO people: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/3501026/
Achak is still in the games as well if you'd like to use your second vote on him.

Blargh (Gym Journal)
Posted 13 years agoGym was closed for the holiday today... guess I get some extra rest time.
For those that didn't know I started doing weight lifting a few weeks ago, today marks the start of week 4. No real noticeable mass gains as of yet, but my lifts are getting better nearly every time I go to the gym.
Still trying to get my calorie intake up, that'll be the key to getting some bulk.
Hmm, guess I'll provide my current lifts for those that care:
Squat 135 pounds @ 3 sets of 5 reps
Bench Press 95 pounds @ 3 sets of 5 reps
Deadlift 165 pounds @ 1 set of 5 reps
Overhead Press 65 pounds@ 5/4/0, got my technique corrected on this one as it's been my worst lift so I should get it easily next time
Power Cleans 70 pounds @ 3 sets of 5 reps
Started adding in accessories last week, at this point they're just supplemental to the five main lifts above so I won't provide details on them.

You can vote for 3 people, I would of course appreciate one of said votes and a few suggestions I have for the other 2 are Achak, Traith, or Skarlath.
And a big thank you to everyone who has voted so far!

Macro Games Round 2! I'd appreciate your vote!
Posted 13 years agoWell guys I've survived round 1, and considering the disadvantage I had it was a bit of an achievement, so theoretically I should have a much better chance of success in getting past round 2!
Voting can be found at http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/3271605/ and you can vote for a total of three people! I'd appreciate your vote, and a few suggestions for your other two votes would be Achak, Traith, and Skarlath
Thanks for reading, and with your guys help I hope to make it to round 3!

A Few Updates
Posted 13 years agoAs the title suggests I'll be grouping a few updates in this journal
---Finances
Just did my tax returns and I'll be getting far more money back than I thought which removes the immediate need for money, so I don't have to do commissions at this point. I should also have a job within a few weeks as I'm really getting my butt in gear for that, if I have to I'll take up my uncle's standing offer (Wanting to avoid it because it's outdoor construction labour and 1+ hour transit each way).
---Speaking of story commissions and stories
I didn't receive a single response to my last journal which leads me to believe that there's no real interest for my work, so I'll be sticking to personal work for now. I may be hopping between projects as I've got at least three stories formatted and planned and mostly ready to write, two of which are more of a short stories series and may likely never see FA due to some content which is against the ToS.
The reason these stories won't make it to FA is because it deals with my back-story, which includes underage adult scenes. I may be able to chop up the series and post non-violating stuff to the site, but we'll see how things turn out.
---Back-story and character update
Which leads into my next topic, some more character updates! I've got some fair bit of history to my character, but I've never actually had a back-story for him which I've now gone and corrected. I also mentioned that I was considering making my anthro form buff in a previous journal, and well my new back-story made the choice very obvious for me so now I am buff in the form, though height and genital size is unchanged. Also toying with some accessory ideas, for now a black leather band around the upper arm.
Here's the very brief short version of my updated character: Slyther is now a potent breeder, literally making a job out of breeding. He's worked to gain muscle mass to fit the strong masculine image. I also tied in my Godhood and have a new explanation as to how and why Slyther became a God. In addition, to make this back-story work Slyther is now canonically older at about 29 (I had been playing him as around my age).
The change to role-play will be minor, the God connection is able to link my role-play self and my connection to the world I've written my character into, only real difference is I may impregnate people a lot more often, otherwise I'll still be the dommy but friendly dragon most people know me as.
---Availability
I apologize if I may seem hard to get a hold of, having no real structure to my life means the hours I'm up at changes almost daily. In fact my sleep pattern has been so bizarre that there's been some days where I go to sleep late morning and wake up in the late evening, completely missing daylight. I'm actively seeking employment (I had gotten a bit lazy) and so expect my pattern to stabilize once I get a job.

Possible trial story commissions, have some questions
Posted 13 years agoOk so I'm finding myself in a bit of a hard place financially in my life right now and as such I may have to offer up some story commissions to get at least a small amount of much needed cash while I find employment.
Obviously my first question is would anyone even be interested in commissioning me? If you were to commission me, how much would you pay for the quality of my work?
I've also got some PayPal related questions. I know there's a limit to how much verified accounts can receive but I highly doubt I'd reach that. What kind of fees should I be expecting? (I've only ever used PayPal to send payment, never receive)
I've also been considering writing some stories I'd consider 'premium', ones that I would not post to FA either because of ToS violations or would be related to the world that I've created. Would you guys be interested in premium stories? And if so, how could I distribute them and expect to make off such stories?

Yay (Few small things)
Posted 13 years agohttp://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l.....NoMessages.png
It's been around a year and a half since I've seen that, just finished going through my submission backlog by going through 1000-2000 per day over the last week and a half.
----Other things
Been musing over a few more changes to my character as of late, despite the changes and additions I've made over the years I still feel as though something is missing, namely the ear area. Fins? Spikes? Some kind of decoration? Also thinking of a change to more muscular for my anthro form and considering a size increase to my feral form.
Also now that I'm done going through that backlog I think I'm gonna start writing some stories, it's been awhile since I've submitted anything, namely because I don't really seek free art anymore and have lacked funds for commissions.
----Speaking of stories
People have told me they enjoy my stories, do you guys have any critiques about the stories already in my gallery and perhaps any suggestions for improvement?
