Posted 4 years agoThank you all so much for your well wishes on the last journal. It took me a fair bit longer than I thought it would to reach a point I would call recovery, and to my chagrin I'm still being hit fairly often by pangs of dread and fear, moods that can be at times debilitating. But I HAVE been able to do some drawing recently, so I will take some progress over no progress, and I KNOW that my mental state overall is much better than it was a month, or two months ago. I swear to god, I never want to go to a place like that again. Anyways. I'm going to see my doc about what we can do to ensure that I don't end up in rough places if we can help it, and I've got a few appointments to help out. On the FA side, art is resuming slowly, I'd like to start uploading some of the backlog. Go easy on me, feels daunting to post when I haven't posted in a while.
Thank you all once again for how supportive and awesome you've been, fingers crossed I can get this train going, get on the horse that kicked me, or find some other suitable metaphor for doin' the sweet furry pronz <3

An Update
Posted 4 years agoI don't give many, but I should let folk know why I've been a bit absent lately
Basically I've just been under a lot of mental duress lately, I'm discovering some new limitations. Long story short, things have been emotionally rough, and I have been in a really bad place and have needed, and will continue to need time to recover. The majority of my efforts have gone into maintaining my patreon account's activity, but that has slipped, and may slip further.
I anticipate I'll be over this shortly, but I said that a month ago, so, who knows.
As always, I appreciate you all, and love you all <3

Posted 5 years agoYes... you heard me right. It was barely this time last year I started moving into the home I live in now. We were told they were looking for long term tenants, we were trying to settle in. About three weeks ago we were told that the owner of the house we’re renting is ‘possibly’ getting a job near the area, so would like to move in. Which means we have to vacate.
We were given some time to do so, but began the house hunt right away. Nobody’s really quite sure how the rental market is going to look in six months.
Long story short, we’ve found a new place, scrambled enough for bond and two weeks and we’re going to move in shortly! I’ve been stressing over this upheaval in my life since I heard it was happening (I never have dealt with change well -w-) but at least it’ll be over with soon.
I’m in a slightly better position now than I was last year, but I may do some adoptables or YCHs to try and raise funds if they’re needed. Otherwise, if you cross your fingers and wish me luck on a painless move, I’d appreciate it. I’ll be somewhat absent, both physically and mentally until it’s done <3

And is basically meant to be an easy way to access my works. This came about before FA started doing gallery folders which really simplified things, but it's still useful to have the information there for tracking down specific stories, or themes that you're looking for, right?
Well my question to you is, for some of the links (i.e Artemis' Bow and The Rendering Pit) I've just linked the gallery folders for the respective stories. Now that's pretty easy for me, and gives viewers an idea of what it is they're looking at getting into, but does it seem a bit spoilery?
Would it be better for me to just list the individual chapters as I've done with most of the other links?
Lemme know what you think!

I have been sick, pretty hecking sick for a good month and a bit now. There was this infection, and the antibiotics they put me on knocked me out most of the day for a month and still didn't kill the infection. Finally I had a urinalysis and we got on the right meds and they're all done and fingers crossed the infection is gone for good!
I'm hoping to resume posting in the following days, maybe even open for some commissions @O@

New Year's Eve (2019)

Hey y’all! I said I would write more journals on FA so here I am LIKE IT OR NOT BABY!
New Years Eve seems to be as good a time as any to reflect on the past and thanks to my living in Australia (I’m currently okay, no fires near me <3) my NYE comes a little early. They say this is the end of a decade, and the start of another, so I figured I’d do some EXTRA reflecting.
This was my first decade in the furry fandom. My first decade doing art. Honestly I started barely a little more than 10 years ago at this point. Back then I thought in ten years I’d be some kind of master but I’ve seen come to accept that progress in art takes a while, and it’s as much about the journey as it is the destination.
Since this decade is probably one of the most eventful of the three I’ve lived, I guess we should start at the beginning. At the start of the decade I dropped out of university, I just didn’t have it in me. I think I was in a phase in my life where I wasn’t really ready to study at university. Especially not the university I ended up at, where everyone looked down their nose at you lol.
After that, I spent some time being depressed. My parents split up. I tried art classes for a bit. My depression got worse and I tried to kill myself. Thankfully, I failed! It was while looking for answers in an attempt to avoid another suicide attempt that I discovered I might be transgender. Upon revealing my discovery to my father I was kicked out of my home and ended up flying across the country. I lived with MickyLeviathan for a while (and I was a terrible roomie I’m so sorry Micky between the dishes I didn’t clean and the room I didn’t clean I was definitely too young and stupid -u-). Honestly living there helped me grow up a little. I began to develop the empathy and interpersonal skills that are required for living with others. They were good people and I hope they still think of me as a friend <3
My mother ended up in renal failure and needed someone to come live with her to reduce rent and help with lifting things, moving around, and all that. So I eventually went and moved back down with her. She was a lot more understanding than my father when I came out to her, and has continued to be a strong positive influence in my life. Eventually she got a kidney transplant and though I continue to pride myself on being useful around the house, eventually we just decided it was easier for everyone involved if we continued to live with each other. Plus my step dad is cool most of the time so that’s nice u3u
During all of this I met the love of my life
Jadethezoroark who I’ve been dating for like SO LONG I don’t even remember how long! She’s basically the best and I’m so happy we’re together I do not deserve her lol. We’re planning on getting her to Australia soon, hopefully after the bushfires have come and gone. And of course, I kept drawing, and kept interacting with the community. Though I commented less on FA, as I noticed much of the community congregate around twitter, it’s been an amazing thing to continue to be active here. Though you all I’ve learned so much about myself. And not just new fetishes (of which there are plenty), but also things about myself. I’ve learned that I’m asexual for example, grey ace. It was through people I met on FA that I first heard about folk being transgender. It was through these people that I was able to discover myself. It feels so long ago but it was certainly within this decade.
Lately things have been pretty calm. Life has its ups and downs but I’m lucky to have folk to go through them with. People whose back I have, and who have mine. Family isn’t who you’re related to, it’s the people you love!
I keep drawing, and writing, and I’ll keep doing it until... well I don’t know if I’ll ever stop! There’s a few great projects in the works. Firefox ‘s Borrowed Time will be coming soon so look forward to that, it’s pretty amazing and I’ve had fun illustrating it. And I’m also working on some other projects as well which’ll be fun to talk about once they’ve developed a bit more.
All in all, this decade was rad and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

I spent the time with the half of my family I still talk to, having fallen out with my father and is side of the family some time ago on account of them all being terrible people. Lemme tell you - you can'tnot be transgender, if you're transgender. It's like asking someone with blue eyes to have green eyes. Doesn't work like that.
Anyways, I know a lot of folk who have it worse than I, who don't get to spend Christmas with their family because their family are unaccepting of who they are, and my heart goes out to you. I hope you spend Christmas with the people you love, even if they're not related to you by blood, because in the end, love is better. Love is without condition.
Christmas was a low key affair for me! Got some lil FFXIV housing items to put in my actual IRL room which was nice, just little miniatures. We watched some movies, at dinner, chilled a lot. I got to play some games with the girlfriend which is always nice <3

Posted 6 years agoSo like, I notice that I don't post as many journals as I used to. In comparison, I used to post alot of journals.
Upset at politics? Post a journal
Wanna vaguely post about a friend doing shitty stuff? Post a journal
You know, that kind of thing. And these days I just don't?
All my journal posting energy is being devoted to keeping a twitter account full of SPICY HOT TAKES and SICK MEMEMES or whatever the kids are doing these days seriously, when I want to yell at stuff mostly I just do it on twitter. I don't even like twitter as a website. It seems designed from the ground up to make people fight each other and promote inane bullshit over nuanced discussion. But whatever, that's just how it is in this hellscape of a planet we call earth.
All that to say, if you like my stuff and you miss when I was more vocal, well mostly I do all my shenanigans on twitter these days. So you should follow that, Jennysmallergod . I'd like to say "I'll post more journals here in the future!" but I'm not sure that's a promise I can keep. I often feel like I don't know what to talk about \uwu/

Guess who finished moving?!
Like about a week ago I got to hand the keys in, fingers crossed we get our bond back. The new place is so nice! Full of boxes and sort of 'half lived in' feel at the moment. But it's on the edge of forests and fields beyond town, and as the sun goes down you hear frogs croaking and birds calling.
My room is upstairs, and it's been over 10 years since I've lived anywhere with stairs, so that has been an experience! Also, as always, I'm too tall and have to duck through some doorways or else my skull ends up pushed into my neck xD
My recent submissions are all old art, I have some new stuff in the works but I'd like to get some of the backlog cleared and posted first!

Well, we found a new place thankfully, and are just in the final stretches of moving everything across. Posted 6 years agoTo answer that question, I invite you to look here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/13120980 , this is my patreon ‘gallery’ of sorts. It allows my patrons to easily navigate through the content I have available, the only thing it doesn’t do is thumbnails!
I’ve done a little count, and I count approximately 35 submissions that are posted exclusively to Patreon (for now). These posts will trickle down slowly to FA. They’re in large part, story + picture combinations. They’re all illustrated by myself, of course! Some are written by me, some are written by rabidbadger as part of a collaborative process.
The Rendering Pit, a series revolving around a small group of students as they try to make their way through an increasingly fetishy, sci-fi university, has a whole arc and a half up that nobody on FA has seen yet!
I also try to post updates to Artemis’ Bow, and do short comics (which can be found in the ‘one-offs’ section) to Patreon where possible.
All in all, I would heartily recommend it, for 2.50 a month!
And if you wanted to support at a higher tier, well you would just be hecking awesome.
