Fursuit Commissions are now closed!
Posted 10 years agoI am no longer accepting any large-scale fursuit commissions (Heads, bodysuits, partials) as my queue has been filled for the time being.
I am, however, still accepting commissions for small orders (feet/handpaws, armsleeves, tails, bandannas, etc.) and refurbishment work.
I will reopen in the spring, or once a few of these larger projects have been finished!
Take care, everyone! :)

Welcome all new watchers!
Posted 10 years agoWow, so I just got a whole bunch of watches! I really appreciate everyone's interest, and want to say hi! Also, sorry I don't post much art-- I work a full time job and a part time job, and I have a lot of fursuit and sewing commissions taking up my spare time, so I don'y really have much time to get on here.
However, I still want to say hi to all the new people, and thanks for coming by! Hope my art and fursuit creations are enjoyable for you to see!

Got a new job!
Posted 10 years agoI just got hired to work full time at a marine canvas shop! On a good note, I'll finally have a job doing the thing I love: Working with sewing machines to make things!
On another note, I won't be here as much, and I probably won't be submitting much art unless people commission me. I will also be working on some fursuit projects in my spare time. But I will still be checking my FA at least once every day or two!

Semi-custom fursuit offer!
Posted 10 years agoI got an incredible deal on some slightly flawed but lovely baby blue husky-like fur. I will be using it to make a premade partial for sale.... need ideas on species and designs!
The baby blue fur is basically tipped with white and therefore cannot be used on the face. I will be using a different fur on the face area, so keep in mind the design must incorporate a different color or fur on the face.
As a side note, I am also offering a "semi-customizable" partial suit based on this fur. The suit must be a maximum of three colors, static jaw, and toony eyes (either following or static). The design must be majority baby blue. The face will be a seal (short) fur. The suit will come with just-past-the-wrist handpaws with pawpads and a medium-sized tail, and a complimentary reversible fursuit bandanna.
The price on this "semi-customizable" suit will begin at USD $450, shipping not included, but may raise depending on complexity of designs and details desired. I WILL accept a payment plan, however, you must pay at least 200 USD down, and I will not ship the suit until all funds including the shipping cost have been paid. If you cannot pay off the suit in a timely manner, or you cease contact with me, the suit will go up for auction on furbuy, though I will tweak it slightly.
Notes on how my (toony) suits are made:
Semi-moving poseable jaw
Custom carved expanding foam bases, very lightweight and do not lose shape over time
All seams including face and head seams are machine sewn. Only minimal glue is used to tack the face down to the base.
I can make stuffed toony noses or order a nose that you like.
Static eyes are made with painted buckram, prestiffened hatting felt and Plastruct styrene modelbuilding plastic in .40 weight.
Ventilation through mouth. Depending on ear style, some heads also feature hidden ear vents.
All seams on hood, handpaws, tails, armsleeves, bodysuits, etc, are sewn twice and reinforced at junctures for long wear.
Teeth and mouth details are made of fleece or resin-coated Fimo. Velcro-swappable tongues are a standard feature of my heads. All mouth interiors are created from fleece.
Tails are built to last with polyfil filling or a foam core. Tails feature a cross-section style back with heavy-duty nylon webbing belt loops.
Handpaws feature a comfortable sweat-wicking cotton-knit lining and machine-stitched pawpads, with no raw edges!
I'll be posting a picture of the fur shortly.

Updates
Posted 10 years agoBarkshark sleeves for
twilightsaint are coming along, nearly done. Should be done by tommorrow or the next day. I'm over halfway through the sewing. I'll be posting photos of the finished sleeves as soon as I can.
I incorporated a cool trick into the design that allows the wearer to remove the cores of the fins for washing, so that's a thing.
Otherwise, I have a few art commissions I'm working on, namely
1. A design sketch of a corset for someone
2. An art slave commission for
cyburd
I'm also slowly beating my way through the shaping of Maxx's head, and after finally getting all of my swatches in, I'm glad to be able to start ordering furs.
Other than that, I'll be getting my head I purchased from
twistedleopard tommorow, which means that in the next couple of days, I'm going to go ahead and order some furs for creation of the suit's paws and tail. I'll probably be holding off on the arms for a bit until I figure out what I want to do with them.

Back after a week of hard work!
Posted 11 years agoWow, what a week. I spent all week down at my local racetrack, Five Flags Speedway, working as their mascot Snowball. I made a nice bit of cash, entertained a lot of people, and shook a LOT of racecar driver hands. Not to mention, danced my butt off and high-fived, shook hands, fistbumped, and hugged so much that my entire body is worn out. Got rave reviews, and the racetrack owner is "saving my number" to call me back for other jobs as Snowball when he needs me.
On another note, I will be able FINALLY to create proper ref art of some of my characters--
BUT FIRST!
I will be finishing a trade I started with
Arcanafox of their character Mort! Sorry it's taken so long, I've just been working nonstop all week.
Then, after that, I'll be working on a commission for a pair of finned custom BarkShark armsleeves for
twilightsaint's character Sarge, and doing some adjustments on the head of her sergal suit, Navy.
Forgot to mention: all of that money I made at the racetrack, some of it will be going out at midnight tonight to
twistedleopard to finish paying for a lovely head I purchased!
Other work I'll be doing:
Making the design for my business cards and getting them printed
Making a business card for my roommate
Doing some refs of my own characters
Doing a commission for an illustration of a corset a friend wants to make for herself
Continuing work on the base for Maxx's head and hopefully ordering the furs I need once I get these swatches I ordered in.
Checking in about some paw commissions that
sammy-skunk and
wizkit expressed interest in.

Working, and Comission Slots!
Posted 11 years agoI've been very busy the past few days with work and getting some details involving my business squared away.
I now have a bit of a commission list:
Sarge's armsleeves
Some adjustments and refurb work on Navy's head
I am also working on completing the head for Maxx I started recently. I have some more work to do, but in a few more days his base should be complete and I can go ahead and get his mouth installed and everything taped. Furring him may have to wait a bit due to the price of fur and my budget.
Otherwise, I've been terrifically busy with a mascotting side gig I got, apart from my usual job at the country station.
However, I should be able to get my trade with
done in the next day or so.

SNOWBALL REFURB IS DONE and other updates
Posted 11 years agoThe refurbishment job I was doing for the racetrack is finally complete, so now I can focus on other projects.
This means: Fursuit quotes and commissions are officially open-- AND I am possibly going to be making a premade toony partial to sell soon. I just have to decide on the species. It will very likely be a horse/pony, or a fox, because everyone likes foxes, right?
On a similar note, I'm mostly posting this so I don't forget that later tonight I need to order several swatches, including a swatch of turquoise seal, yellow seal, and the "purpley-blue-y seal" from I'mStuffed, and a swatch of the turquoise DF from fabric.com or distinctivefabrics.
I want to try making a face with seal-type furs, so I'm going to use Maxx as the test dummy for it.
If you want to send me a quote for a commission, email me at maddmaxxscotz[at]gmail.com and I'll get back to you with my quote sheet to fill out.
I take commissions for handpaws, tails, arms, feetpaws, bodysuits, as well as commissions for heads, fullsuits, and partials.

Vext's Work Adventures pt 1
Posted 11 years agoSo, I work for a radio station as their mascot and I do a lot of public appearances in the suit. The suit is a suit of a toony cat, with HUGE parade feet, a hooped belly, glove-hands, and a massive helmet-mounted fiberglass toony "cat" head.
Today a kid ran up behind me and punched the shit out of the Cat's head because my handler wasn't in the game. It didn't hurt at all (I think it probably hurt the kids hand more than anything) but it startled me a little.
It WAS hilarious, though. I was in public, in front of kids too, so I had to stay in character. So I rolled with it and rubbed the back of my head in "pain" while my handler is like THAT LITTLE JERK.... CAT ARE YOU OKAY SORRY I LET SOMEONE PUNCH YOU
Then later one of the DJ's I work with noticed that one of the Cat's whisker's was crooked, and she says, "Hold on Cat, your whiskers are crooked." As she's fixing it, she goes, in this very sober and serious voice, "You wouldn't want to look ridiculous, now."
Keep in mind I had been dancing around, shaking my tail, and interacting in every stupid and fun way I could come up with all day, including joining a special olympics basketball team for their stretches and exuberantly cheering and highfiving runners finishing a race.
Yes, I wouldn't want to look ridiculous, of course.
I almost lost it.
I don't know why I'm sharing this but my job is fun and I figured maybe it would be amusing to read.

twilightsaint: complete
3. Wood badges: All of them are complete except

wizkit.
dragonmelde and
twilightsaint will receive theirs tommorow.
4. I have taken on a commission from a local race track to do some repairs on their 12 year old "Snowball" mascot suit, so this is my priority at the moment. I am midway through building the character's new shoes/feet, and the bodysuit needs a few further repairs and alterations. I will be finishing the assembly of the headgear mods soon.
5. After all this, I'll be starting on the base for my Maxx partial.

Work update and low-price badge offer
Posted 11 years ago1. Navy feetpaw refurb job for
twilightsaint: Complete.
2. Spirit Handpaw mod job for
twilightsaint: Need to pick up some more Velcro and adhesive to finish up. Removable linings and reinforcement sewing is complete. Still need to cut the foam for the toe paddings and testfit it, finish sewing on Velcro, and adhere pawpads.
3. Snowball refurb job for the racetrack: Need to finish up on the bodysuit, which will involve some patching of the torn foam using spray adhesive and muslin to shore up the ripped areas. The strapping for the headgear is nearly complete.
Snowball's new feet I will be beginning tommorow, after picking up the base shoes, more adhesive, match fabric,
4. There are still a few wood badges being burned. They should all be complete soon.
Wizkit has not had her started yet, unfortunately.
5. I will be creating a couple of traditional art flip-badges using the new markers I got (headshot badges). I'm offering a reduced price on these-- only 8 USD (plus shipping if it costs more than 2 USD). The first three people to comment on this asking about a badge will get the reduced price. These badges are made using self-laminating luggage tags and are about 3 inches by 4 inches. The top tag is clear except for the character's name at the bottom, and the bottom one is the character art. This way, you can flip the badge name up and out of the way to show more details of the character.
For an example, I'll probably make a flip-style badge of Signal or Maxx.
Paying for the badges you can do either via paypal (I will note you with the details), or by handing me cash in person if you're local to me.
