AC 2014 - the extended version!
General | Posted 11 years agoNow that I've gotten home from work today (which was really, really difficult to get through!), and finished my insta-nap, I figured I'd get into a longer recap of AC!
I had so much fun this year. I'm so thrilled that they've been getting better year after year.
There's so many people that I got to see and things I got to do!
So much Cards Against Humanity....so, so, so bad. But so good. Also - I picked up Room Party. That's a lot of fun. :)
The "How Much Bad Fiction Can You Read" panel must have been one of the absolutely funniest things I've seen in quite a while. My stomach hurt for about an hour afterwards. I got to have great meals (with one incredibly gargantuan exception) with great people (no exceptions on that one)!
It's kind of neat that Scrapper is starting to get a little bit more known. And I still love that Lex makes a lot of people happy. There was also the first ferret meet at AC this year!! :D
I tried out a Pokemon VGC battle for the first time. And there's so many people that made the con great, that I just can't list them all.
Bottom line - thanks to everyone for making AC 2014 the best one yet. And I can't wait for the next one. It's also even got me thinking I should try to expand to another con if I can.

Saw some friends I haven't seen in a while. Met some online people for the first time. Made some brand new friends. I couldn't really ask for much more!

Good clue that it's me is I have a penchant to be wearing a soccer jersey of some type. Manchester United, German national, Italian national. I tend to dress more athletic or golf shirt/jeans during the daylight hours.
Will you be suiting?
Yeppers!! Either Scrapper the ferret or Lex the Lucario. At nighttime there's a chance you'll see me in my Jackal Soldier costume.
Do you do free art?
If I could draw, I'd probably do that. But I can't draw. So that really limits your options.

1. First thing you wash in the shower?
My chest
2. What color is your favorite hoodie?
Gray and red
3. Would you kiss the last person you kissed again?
Yup! As many times as I can. I <3 her!
4. Do you plan outfits?
Kinda sorta. It depends on where I'm going.
5. How are you feeling RIGHT now?
I'm on an exercise bike for over an hour now, so my thighs hurt. Other than that, all good!
6. What's the closest thing to you that's red?
My shorts.
7. Tell me about the last dream you remember having?
Oh geeze...working in a flooded convenience store trying to catch the orcas that got in. Don't ask, I don't know.
8. Did you meet anybody new today?
Yes! I'm transferring to another division at work and met one of my new coworkers.
9. What are you craving right now?
Cream soda.
10. Do you floss?
Infrequently. I should more.
11. What comes to mind when I say cabbage?
Cole slaw

Yes. Although not nearly as much I as used to be.

Depends on the kind, but more of a licker.

Oddly enough this ferret keeps his living room relatively sparkle free.

What made you choose the species of your main fursona?
- I knew that it would be somewhat of a goofy, funny animal, since that's how I am when I'm feeling normal and comfortable. I'm also generally tall and thin, and easily distracted, so being a ferret made complete and utter sense to me when I thought about it. :)
Is your fursona just like you, or how you want to be?
- A bit of both. If I had the daily freedom and lack of restrictions, I'd be a bit more like my fursona.
Does your fursona have the same personality you have?
- For the most part. Bouncy, mischievous but not mean. Loves friends. Loves to play around. Loves to interact. But I can be a tiny bit shy and wary at first, just to make sure everything is cool.
Does your fursona have the same dislikes and likes as you do?
- For the most part. But I'd say Scrapper is a bit more laid back and not as fanatical about some things. Except shinies. :)
Does your fursona look like you at all?
- Um. Maybe? I guess if I were a 6' tall ferret we'd be a bit similar? The eyes are not my eye color. Scrapper has green eyes, mine are grayish-blue. The one thing that is very similar is the perpetual smirk Scrapper has like I generally do.

- Yep

AC 2013 Recap!

Anyhow. Lots of fun this year. It always seems that the time goes by faster and faster. I had to bounce back and forth a lot, and enjoyed every minute both in and out of suit.
Thursday and Friday were generally spent in Lex the Lucario. Friday night I busted out the Jackal Soldier for the dance. Let me tell you, I still never get tired of the freakout reactions I get from that mask when I come across non-con goers on the street. Lots of "Whoa!" or "Holy s#$!, what is that!"
Saturday was the day for Scrapper. Got him in the parade, got him out for lots of pictures down at the Westin with the local radio guys and bloggers. They are an absolute riot!
Had a great time with lots of friends and meeting new people!

AC 2013 - Starting early - meeting new people

I'm just throwing out there already - there's always too many people and too little time to meet people at AC. So, I just want to try and get it out there to try and connect with people.
So, keep it in mind and maybe say hi to the ferret this year!

I decided to get Lex back out for AC and Otakon again. And I think I'll most likely bring him out for AC every year I go. But unsure about Otakon (if we even go next year...).
Since I'm somewhat of a fringe player in fursuting/cosplay/costuming in general, I wonder if my view is too narrow.
Do you get tired of seeing the same suits/costumes year after year? Or is it dependent on how much you like/don't like the suit/costume?
I keep wanting to meet more people, and I wonder if it's better to be known more for a specific costume or two, or a diverse set of suits/character portrayal?
I suppose I feel kind of stuck to some extent.
What do you feel?

What to do, what to do!
General | Posted 13 years agoSo after all this craziness at AC this year, I've come to realize that as much as I love my current Scrapper suit, the vision is so narrow, that either I have to have the eyes redone, or go with a new Scrapper suit.
I'm really torn between the two. If I try to have the head redone...I have no idea how long it'll take to get back. If I commission another suit, I wonder how long it would take - and who's willing to take on a toony ferret?
Any suggestions???

AC 2012 Continued
General | Posted 13 years agoI can't believe I forgot to post about one of the very best moments of AC 2012!
So...because indigoangelcat was celebrating her birthday at AC, we (and I mean 19 of us...) ended up at Sushi Kim for dinner. First of all, they hated us. I mean...HATED us.
I'm sure some of that was due to our.....let's just call it general exuberance and willingness to let them know we were not happy with the level of service being provided. How we didn't get tossed is a mystery to me.
So! All that aside, my favorite part - and of course I am biased - was finally getting indigoangelcat to just end up drooling water out of her mouth from laughter. We <3 you so much! Thanks for letting us all celebrate with you!

AC 2012 in the books!!
General | Posted 13 years agoHow in the hell is AC 2012 already over?? Regardless, it was a total and utter blast.
I am totally wiped out though...holy crap.
I had a great time meeting new people, hanging out with good friends, and missing ones I didn't get to see. Got to take lots of pictures, and answer tons of questions from a lot of non-furs hanging around the convention. And to be honest, they were all seemingly sincere, legitimate questions. Not one single perv/fetish/litterbox/"insert your inane question here" comment from anyone asking me things.
And only one incident of idiocy in 4 days. Pretty stunning!!
If anyone happens to come across pics of me in Scrapper (the ferret), Lex (the Lucario), or Phantom (the Jackal Soldier) please pop me a link!
Speaking of Jackal Soldiers, it has been brought to my attention that there are quite a few people that might want to join the group. Admittedly, that gives me a few goose bumps thinking about it. Totally and utterly cool. :)
Hopefully I manage to find a few of the new people I met over the weekend here - so much going on in so little time, and I'm crappy with notetaking!
I miss everyone already!!!
