So, I Broke My Arm.
Posted 5 years agoA few weeks ago I slipped on the stairs and broke my drawing arm.
I'm ok now but my arm is in a sling for the next month, this means I can't work on commissions or even go to my day job. If you'd like to help, I still need to pay rent and bills, and I have no savings to fall back on. I'm considering creating a GoFundMe but in the meantime I can take donations at https://www.paypal.me/SnowdonArt
Any help would be very much appreciated.

Support "The Sprawl"!
Posted 8 years ago"The Sprawl" is supported by its readers. It's thanks to the support I get through Patreon, Ko-Fi and PayPal donations that I'm able to continue bringing you new pages of my sci-fi/horror comic each week. The more support I get the more time I can devote to the comic each month, which translates to better art, better writing and more frequent updates.
Everyone who pledges to my Patreon, regardless of the amount, gets early access to each month's pages and other extras such as breakdowns showing how I put my comic pages together, render environments and more.
For those hesitant to create a Patreon account and pledge a recurring amount, I also have a Ko-Fi and PayPal for one-time donations.
Any amount helps keep the comic going, even if it's just a dollar.
Readers can also support the comic by spreading the word! Sharing update notifications on Twitter and Tumblr, voting for the comic on sites like TopWebcomics, talking about "The Sprawl" on forums and image boards!
I have plans for multiple volumes of "The Sprawl" and with your support I can make those plans a reality, bringing you the complete story of Getta, the orb, Sibo, and the rest.

Posted 8 years agoI've recently moved to a new apartment and I plan to spend a lot more time doing commission work.
To start things off I'll be offering some simple single character commission options.
$25 for a sketch+shading
$35 for a sketch+colours
$60 for finished portrait line art + colours
If you're interested in a commission, check out my Picarto stream

I stream almost every day starting in the afternoon/evening.
If you're unable to make it to one of my streams, send me a note right here on FA.

The Final Stretch of LOG:03
Posted 9 years agoLOG:03 is finished, now it's just a matter of posting all of the pages for everyone to enjoy. The main story of LOG:02 and 03 should be wrapped up by the end of the month, with some epilogue carrying us through November and December.
In the meantime, work on LOG:04 is underway and it's already shaping up to be the biggest, most ambitious chapter so far.
If you've been reading and enjoying The Sprawl and want to help make sure there's more to come, please consider supporting the comic through Patreon.

As little as 25 cents a page gets you early access to each month's pages, with additional tiers offering looks at concept art, sneak peeks at pages in progress and more. Every little bit helps make it possible to keep the comic going.

A New Approach
Posted 9 years agoI have decided that I'll no longer be reposting every comic page to FA, Weasyl, etcetera. Instead, I'll be posting update notices like this one here.
It's a lot easier on me, not manually updating navigation links for every single page on multiple websites, and the comic is just easier to read on the website. (Did you know that, at thesprawlcomic.com, you can navigate between pages using the left/right keys on your keyboard?)
This will make it a lot easier for me to stay on top of the weekly page updates.
In other news, July is a double page month! For the entire month, I'll be posting two pages a week. The first will go up Wednesday morning as usual. The second page will likely go up no later than Saturday. That's right, you're getting 8 full pages this month!
Do you enjoy The Sprawl? Just a reminder that for only $1 a month you can get the entire month's pages delivered at the beginning of each month rather than waiting for the weekly updates. The more supporters I have, the more pages I can deliver each month.

Do You Want More of "The Sprawl" Each Month?
Posted 9 years agoDo you?
Right now I can spare about one or two days a week working on "The Sprawl", which means I can only upload one new page a week. Sometimes I have to take on jobs which eat up that spare time and I don't get any new pages done, so I try and keep a bit of a buffer, but it ain't easy.
You can help change that.

I set up a Patreon campaign where you can pledge as much or as little as you like. You want to throw a dollar a page at me? Fantastic! 25 cents a page seems more fair to you? Brilliant! Every little bit helps.
Worried I might end up posting 20 pages a month? No problem! You can cap your monthly payments so you're only paying as much as you feel comfortable with each month!
The more I make, the more time I can spend working on "The Sprawl" instead of picking up other jobs to pay the bills. And since I produce each page in about 8-10 hours, I could easily reach a point where I'm putting out 4-5 pages a week, every week. That would be a complete 60-page LOG every 3 months!
So if you're enjoying "The Sprawl", please consider it.

I Have Been Upgraded
Posted 9 years agoSo, as I've been saying for a while, my old Toshiba has been on its last legs. She no longer charged batteries and couldn't use the power cord at all. I had a backup Toshiba, same model, but for whatever reason I could not get Photoshop to run properly on it.
Finally, after struggling with my hardware issues for a week while working on a freelance project, I decided enough was enough and broke out the credit card. Now I have a shiny new Microsoft Surface Book.
Now, I'm still working out some kinks, but initial impressions are mostly positive. Like the Toshiba, it takes a lot of initial tinkering to get it to work as an art tablet, but I'm getting her there. I'm going to take the new machine out to the diner with me today and work on a new Sprawl page. If she can handle that, then she can handle anything I'm going to throw at her.

Clearing the Dust
Posted 9 years agoWhen I created this new FA account I'd intended to begin filling it with content straight away, but a combination of sudden career shifting as well as unexpected computer issues on both my laptop and PC, lead to a bit of an absence. Despite this, updates to http://thesprawlcomic.com/ have continued without a hitch, so I want to remind people to bookmark that site so they can continue to get their weekly dose of "The Sprawl" without interruptions!
That being said, I've begun dumping pages here on this account, starting from the beginning. The plan right now is to continue posting page dumps here on FA until it is current with the comic's main site. If you don't want to wait for these updates then why are you still here? Add a +watch then run right on over to thesprawlcomic.com and everything that's been uploaded so far!

And Everything Changes
Posted 9 years agoSo you've probably noticed the lack of updates around here. If so, I hope you've been keeping up with "The Sprawl" over at http://thesprawlcomic.com/ as the pages have been going up like clockwork every week.
Still, I just haven't had time to keep everything else updates. Haven't had time to stream. Truth be told, haven't had time to work on the comic and my buffer is steadily dwindling. All because of my soul crushing day job.
Good news. I quit. I've accepted a new job and begin that immediately. It's all kind of a blur so it may take a couple more weeks for things to settle down, but once they do expect a lot more activity here.
This weekend I'm already planning some lengthy drawing streams as I work on both "The Sprawl" and work for my new job. On top of that, expect the first of several massive page dumps to hit this account sometime this weekend.
Finally, expect me to start taking commissions again. I can't say exactly when or what my prices will be, but I'll be making announcements about all of that here, Tumblr, and through my Twitter account in the next couple of days.
So yeah, things are looking up!
[ UPDATE ]
Ok, so the promised page dump is getting pushed back a day or two, but it is still coming. I had some dental work done this week it wound up eating up a lot more time than I'd expected. So expect the page dump around Monday or Tuesday unless I get a lot further ahead with the things I need to do today than I expect.
[ UPDATE ]
I keep going to make that promised update, but I keep forgetting that my desktop is running on a borrowed hard drive, and I usually do this while my laptop is waiting on batteries. Yeah, lot of technical issues lately. Now that I've changed jobs and have some free time I hope to remedy this soon. In the meantime, I'll work on getting something up tonight before I start streaming.
Also, I'll be streaming tonight. Just waiting on aforementioned laptop batteries to charge.

My Computer RIP 2011-2016
Posted 9 years agoSo, yeah, my computer is dead. That's why there's been a lack of activity on this site and others. It doesn't look like I'll be up and running again for at least a few days but I'll post updates on the situation as I'm able.
