About the Story’s:
My stories range from innocent to explicit and from sweet to dark. Many of the stories are based on my interests and experiences - that I've had or want to. The darker themes remind us there is a seed of darkness in all of us. I keep mine locked away in real life, however, it sometimes comes out to play in my stories. I justify it by imagining myself in the place of those unfortunate characters.

Be sure to check the tags for NSFW stories, some may find the themes or kinks extreme. Even with my SFW stories checking the tags is recommended

The new AUP changes announced today will have some impact on my gallery. Since most of my BabyFur art doesn't conflict with UP 2.7 I don't expect this to impact more than 20-25% of my submissions. I will replace these with an image stating the submission was removed due to UP 2.7. FA's Code of Conduct does not allow linking to other sites, but just search that submissions title at one of my non-FA gallery's to find it. This process will start in a few weeks in case you want to save anything or not have to go look elsewhere.

FA isn't the only site with my art. Over a year ago I wrote a journal that mentioned redundancy is your best protection. As I said last time - the more spread out you are the harder it is to get completely shutdown. You don’t have to leave FA, but it shouldn’t be your only home. Yes, if this is currently your only home it’s going to be a lot of work to replicate to other sites. But once the initial uploads are done maintaining them in sync is easy. The piece of mind knowing a site outage or the whims of others can’t take you down is worth the effort.

The time to build redundancy was when everything looked fine, but if you haven’t started yet do so now! Its better to copy your content to new homes before the old one is gone.

Last time I wondered if the smoke from the rule changes would turn out to be a campfire or a forest fire. Now the question is, will it be controlled burn or a firestorm? You need to have somewhere to go in case this place turns to ash.

Two years ago I launched an art project I called the "The Bare Bear Project" https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/10313179. It has been a very surprising and fun experience for me (and hopefully the artists as well). While that project has not officially closed I feel it’s time to launch a new one: The Snow Multiverse Project.

Having a single fursona has always felt like the right thing for me. Snow is a fusion of his two predecessor fursona’s (Kodiak the Grizzly and Nanuk the Polar Bear) that I used on UseNet in the early 1990’s.

Bears have always been the animal that resonated strongest with me and are the best fit for my fursona. But that doesn’t mean I have never asked the question - what if Snow hadn’t been a bear?

It’s time to answer this question with my next art project: The Snow Multiverse.

Like The Bare Bear Project this will be highly artistic freedom, but with a few guidelines added. I want to allow creative freedom while having the end result have some resemblance to the original Snow.

Below is a list of species I had considered for my fursona. Artists can choose from this list but are NOT restricted to it - they are free to choose a species that isn't listed.

Natural and mythical species are allowed, but please respect the rules for regulated and closed species (personally I don't like the idea of a species being closed, but I will respect their creators wishes).

Want to do an object creature but aren't sure it fits the project? Feel free to ask me about it.



Important: once a form has been claimed it is no longer an option for future artists.

Guidelines:
Primarily use Snow’s fur pattern or the colors from the ref sheet. Additional colors may be added as compliments but shouldn’t distract from them being recognizable as a variant of Snow. However, keep eye color the same as my ref, this will be a point of consistency across the project.

Please keep the body shape similar to my ref with appropriate changes for the new species. For example as a bear Snow is short and a bit chubby for his species, but not to obese proportions. Anthro forms preferred, but I may approve feral forms if artists suggest them.

Cub or Adult form is artists choice

I imagine this project being primarily SFW. However Adult forms may be NSFW (this is artists choice).

Some aspects of Snow’s personality should come through in the new form. However, with approval you can suggest alternate personalities (ex: a dominant or evil Snow).

This project has been running for almost 2 years and has generated 16 submissions.

9 are from artists that don’t or rarely do NSFW art. its has been incredibly fun to see what these artists come up with when I have no idea what to expect.

In January 2023 I started the ‘Open Season’ off shoot which welcomed NSFW artists to participate as well. This has resulted in another 7 submissions.

Currently 1 additional artist has confirmed interest in participating at some point.

All of these submissions are Artists Freedom, they don’t have to tell me what the scene will be or show WIP’s. Many have been complete surprises until I saw the finished piece. Some have been VERY surprising.

1. Work on my stories regularly: I have written very little the last few years and want to get that passion burning again. The plan is to work on them at least a few hours per week.

2. Get out of my home and meet people: Almost all my furry friends are not local. I need to interact more with the locals and make friends. Its sad that Furnal Equinox is my local con but usually the least enjoyed because I have very few friends to share it with.

3. Get more exercise: This one should be easy as I currently get almost none. This will likely be swimming to start and hopefully cycling can be added in the Spring. My intention is heath related, it would be nice to get my weight down to where I can get off my blood pressure medication.

4. Get back into photography: Another passion hobby that became almost non existent the last few years. I want to get the rust off my skills. It also ties in nicely with resolution #3, in 2023 I purchased lighter equipment perfect for taking into wilds. Wildlife photography is my favorite and that means hikes.

5. Work on being social: I regressed a lot during the COVID years, losing years of progression at being more comfortable around others. Two things that helped and need to restart in 2024 is organizing and attending social events like tabletop game days.

Flew to Orlando late Thursday afternoon. I had intended to grab my badge at registration and attend the "B.A.B Basics of All Babyfurs" mostly out of curiosity and then go to the "Megaplex Open Mic Night". But the reg line was huge and by the time I got through it B.A.B was over, and exhausted from travel and lack of sleep I decided to get some rest.

Friday Started with attending Opening Ceremonies of course. Then it was off to the dealer’s den for some swag. Picked up my acrylic badge from Plant Panda, got a bunch of beautiful enamel pins, and a "Cute" Mystery Box. Got my Megaplex 2023 shirt from the Con Store.

Spent the rest of the day hanging out with friends. Blankit was able to attend that day and surprised me with the gift of an adorable new badge. KB invited me to join him, Blankit and a bunch of friends for dinner.

I started Saturday wandering around the come and meeting more friends. I was running a boardgame event to teach the game Creature Comforts. I was very nervous and wondered if anyone would show up. But we ended up having a full player count. There was a mix-up as to where the event was to be held so I had to explain the rules a second time when more players came.

By the time the game was over the "Babyfur / Kidfur Meet Up" had already started so I went straight there. That was fun and I got to see a few friends I hadn't run into yet.

The "Improving Your Fiction" writers panel was next and I learned some tips about editing from it.

Next came the "Vore Meet and Eat" event which unfortunately was disappointing. Vore is a theme I've been discovering and playing with over the last year with some very close friends. I had hoped this event would give an introduction discussion and have some ice breakers before becoming a meetup. Instead it just started and the host just expected everyone to start to mingle. Admittedly that seemed to work for about 85% of the attendees. But as usual those that knew each other flocked together, and those who didn't know anyone and were to introverted to break into a group were left out. Many of them just left, and after wandering through the crowd a bit I did too. I don't blame the host but it was a disappointment. Starting it with some sort of icebreaker game could have made it more welcoming for all.

However the next event was the opposite, the Plush Bingo. I went there expecting to play bingo with plushies, instead we were playing to win plushies that needed new homes. Luck was not on my side. Game 1 started strong with the first 3 numbers called filling most of the O column, and by the end I had 4 ways to win depending on the number called - but none ever were. Then luck turned sour, Game two we were 15-20 numbers called before one I had on my card. Game 3 wasn't much better. But while I didn't win a plushie I had a great time playing.

I ended Saturday "Con Horror Stories" I'm a fan of the Horror Stories events and I had missed a couple already due to schedule conflicts.

Sunday only had one can't miss event for me before Closing Ceremonies. I spent the day with friends and returned to the game room to teach KB Creature Comforts. Another friend arrived so we played 2 games. Then it was time for the Bear Meetup, but that event was cancelled.

Closing Ceremonies was good. Megaplex had a record attendance of almost 5200 and raised a whopping $88K for the charity, so we ended on a high note.

After that I grabbed some dinner and headed back to my room to pack.

Overall I had a great time. It was good to see people I haven't seen since 2019. On the downside there were a few people I intended to meet that I didn't run into, but there will be other opportunities.

This was my last con for the year. Plans for 2024 are not yet set in stone but FE, FWA are my primary goals and if possible AC as well. And if all goes well I'd like to try for NFC in 2025.

August 2023 brings the Bare Bear Project to its 1st Anniversary. When I started this project last year I had doubts SFW artists would actually participate.

So far 9 are from artists that don’t or rarely do NSFW art, which was my original goal. Its has been incredible fun to see what these artists come up with when I have no idea what to expect. Some have been very surprising.

In January 2023 I started the ‘Open Season’ off shoot which welcomed NSFW artists to participate as well. This has resulted in another 5 pictures.

Currently 1 artist has confirmed interest in participating at some point and 4 more are potentially in the queue.

All of these are Artists Freedom, they don’t have to tell me what the scene will be or show WIP’s. So some have been complete surprises until I saw the finished piece.

I’m not normally one to comment on these things as others usually said it first and better, but my message is from a different angle.

I have worked in IT for over 30 years. For a good chunk of that time my focus was High Availability, Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity. Basically my role was to find and eliminate any single point of failure.

Words of wisdom I heard long ago: there are 2 kinds of system – those that have already failed and those that will. While that was referring to hardware the warning also applies outside the world of IT.

The idea of relying on and keeping things all in one place makes things easy but is also incredibly risky.

Redundancy is a safety net. Just as my files at home are backed up to multiple different locations (including offsite) the art in my galleries are posted to 3 different furry sites.

The more spread out you are the harder it is to get completely shutdown. You don’t have to leave FA, but it shouldn’t be your only home. Yes, if this is currently your only home it’s going to be a lot of work to replicate to other sites. But once the initial uploads are done maintaining them in sync is easy. The piece of mind knowing a site outage or the whims of others can’t take you down is well worth the effort.

The time to build redundancy was when everything looked fine, but if you haven’t started do so now. Its better to copy your content to new homes before the old one is gone.

We all smell the smoke, whether its a campfire or a forest fire is yet to be seen. Have somewhere to go in case this one turns to ash.

There will be others but I think these will be my main goals for this year.

Get Healthier:

Its not about losing weight (though that’s part of it), or exercising regularly (though exercise will have to play a part), or anything to do with body image. As much as I like being chubby I can’t deny that I’ll be turning 50 in 2023 and have to take better care of myself.


Make time to write:

I have done very little writing the last 3 years. I’m sorry to say many of the stories I had planned back in 2019 have likely died on the vine. Some might be able to be resurrected and there are at least 3 live ideas in progress. But I need to make regular time for myself to write.


Become more social again (offline):

I spent the first 43 years of my life being an total introvert with almost no social life outside family functions. Then I finally broke out, and with a lot of work I made great progress becoming increasingly social. Then COVID came and isolation started. It felt way too easy to retreat into my old ways. And while I have remained social online with a few friends it feels like I have grown distant to a few of them (some very close ones). Part of this was being unable to see you in person, even if it was only once a year. I’m sorry for that and will try to fix the distance between us.

I’ll be attending cons again in 2023 and in the spring restarting gaming events in person.

I've initiated a project I am tentatively calling the "Bare Bear Project". I will be commissioning several different artists over the coming months to draw alluring, provocative but classy nudes of Snow (as an adult of course).

"What's the big deal?" you might be thinking, "you have done that before". The twist is the artists I will be asking never (to my knowledge) or very rarely do anything NSFW. With no frame of reference for NSFW art from them, not knowing what to expect will be quite fun for me.

For the artists I hope they will enjoy pushing their creativity in an unexplored/underexplored direction. That said respecting the artists comfort level is important to me. So other than Snow being the main subject of the picture everything else (PoV, posing, theme, feel) is artists freedom.

How the artist interprets 'alluring' & 'provocative' is up to them and 'nude' need not mean strictly naked and fully visible. I'd prefer to avoid body parts being simply missing if they should be in view. Body parts they are uncomfortable drawing may be obscured by posing or foreground/background elements so it still looks natural. Likewise 'classy' need not mean devoid of kink or racy themes. I want to give as much artistic freedom as possible so the results are something they will be comfortable creating and proud for me to post.

So far I have approached 3 artists and all 3 accepted (potentially a 4th as well). I hope to commission more artists in the coming months. I suspect I will choose 1-2 artists every 1-2 months. At this time I do not know how long this project will run.
