WeyFur 23.02.19: Cheezburger 4
General | Posted 7 years agoDetails of the next Weymouth Furmeet on Saturday, the 23rd of February, are now up on the blog! This month's meet will be more of a laid-back affair, as we meet up at The Dorset Burger Company for lunch and some board games.
I'm also sorry to announce that henceforth, Weymouth Furmeets will only be held on Saturdays. Wednesday meets are no longer going to be possible for me or the resident kobold for the foreseeable future, so, going forward, we're going to run the meets on the last Saturday of each month. Apologies to anyone who this may inconvenience.
See you at the meet!

M-DRIVE 16-bit Music Pack: Now Available!
General | Posted 7 years agohttps://youtu.be/XgAfF96UnV4
So, where have I been this whole time? Working on a few things, actually, but easily the biggest of them has been the M-DRIVE 16-bit music pack!
M-DRIVE is a varied collection of music and sound effects, for games and other media, that are inspired by a certain classic 16-bit games console of the early nineties. You know, the one with a controller that looked like a fat boomerang and a TOTALLY RADICAL spiky blue mascot. Yep, that one.
Each of M-DRIVE's music tracks and sound effects has been lovingly crafted using the same synthesis method as the original console's Yamaha sound chip, in the styles of many of the games I grew up loving. When composing, I tried to hold the idea of an action RPG in mind, but the pack is open to several different game genres. M-DRIVE's audio is optimised for use with RPG Maker, but can be used in any game engine.
Find out more about the pack and pick up a copy of your own over here!

What the Hell is Going On with Snowy?
General | Posted 13 years agoWoah, is this really the first time I've logged into FA in four months?
I'm really losing touch with the fandom. I should probably try a bit harder. There are still some badass people here and I think you all deserve an update.
So where have I been lately? Not much has been happening IRL, to be honest. I've not moved house, lost any family members or done any of the other things that tend to keep people under the online radar. I think, more than anything, the main reason I'm not so active anymore in the art and/or furry communities like this is that it feels, well, kinda old and tired to me.
Don't get me wrong, I have a lot of good friends here, but I also have most of those same friends in my MSN, Skype and Steam buddy lists. I don't really need online communities to keep in touch with people anymore, so they've kinda taken a backseat to IM clients.
I still draw, to a degree - it's usually just doodles these days, and rarely anything that feels worth uploading. And music is something I have to browbeat myself to do, and when I do, it tends to be for a friend's game project or something, so uploading it here doesn't always feel right.
Speaking of game projects, I also have two of my own munching into my time. One is my own RPG Maker project, and the other I'm working on with a bunch of friends, and we literally mean business with it, so it's pretty serious stuff. A lot of my creative energy is going into those - mainly the latter - leaving little for my own random art and music projects.
On the plus side, the big project is calling for me to learn to use Blender, so hey, you might start seeing some renderings from me if I turn out to be good at it. Fingers crossed, eh?

Concerning FurAffinity
General | Posted 14 years agoSo I was at ConFuzzled 2011. And it was win.
The main thing people said to me about my art while I was there, though, was "you should totally post your stuff on FA!"
Now, there are a number of reasons why I don't often do this. The biggest and simplest reason is because my art gallery is on deviantART. The only reason I have this one on FA is so that I have somewhere to upload my music, and so that I can keep up-to-date with friends and artists who have migrated here from deviantART.
I like having all my art in one place. It makes it simpler for me to organise, as well as making it easier for other people to enjoy. It's just less of a jumble.
Besides this, I consider deviantART to be the better community for artists. FA, in my eyes, is little more than a porn site. The only reason furries flocked here from dA when it opened was so that they could have somewhere to post their cock drawings. Not to stigmatise it - I know there are a lot of artists here who post only clean art, and props to 'em for it too, but I already have somewhere to host all of mine.
On the other hand, there's a lot of furries now who tell me they like seeing my art, but don't have a deviantART account.
So I've come to a compromise - I don't know if it's considered proper or not, the posting rules are 404ing at the moment - but from now on, when I upload something to deviantART, I'll post a thumbnail and a link here too so that you furries can go look at it. If you have no DA account, just comment on and/or +fav the thumbnail here on FA as a proxy.
Let me know what you think about this, if anything.

And no, I'm not making a hundred of them. Not even for you. I don't have the time, nor the inclination.

New Icon!
General | Posted 17 years agoWell, I was introduced to the latest incarnation of Windows Live Messenger and the capacity for animated Display Pictures was just screaming out to me. So I spent six hours throwing this li'l thing together. I forgot how fun animating is, it's such a shame you need to find such a large gap of free time to do anything decent with it.

What was the last thing you dreamed about? I rarely remember my dreams, but for some reason I had a really vivid one the other night that I remember bits of... it involved some kind of first-person shooter and a bag of dead guinea pigs. Weird stuff.

Do like to draw? I love to draw, but just lately due to dampened spirits my creativity's gone out of the window.
What's your favorite invention? I could say the Internet, but I expect everyone else who's done this has said either that or computers. So I'm gonna go with the flannel. Flannels are awesome too.

Who was the last person you spoke over the phone to? Funnily enough, Silv. Right now.
What's your favorite school subject? Music. It has to be, 'cause that's all I do. If you wanna be specific, though, music sequencing is my favourite lesson.
What's your least favorite school subject? My least favourite is CLAIT, which is just IT... all it is is following instructions from a sheet. It's a strict, narrow way of learning and I just find it a dull and lazy move by whoever thought we should work in such a way.

What is your dream vacation? Eurofurence 13 was probably the best "vacation" I've ever had, and I don't think I'm gonna top it with any conventional holiday. In terms of a location, I'd love to visit Japan some time, not that I'm some kind of hardcore anime freak. More for the history.
What is your favorite animal? Guinea pigs.

Have you ever caught a butterfly? A couple.
What color are your bed sheets? They're the Thunderbirds ones I've had since I was a wee cub.

Do you have any obsessions right now? Just lately I've had too much on my mind to concentrate on one thing...
Do you like things that glow in the dark? Not on my person. I naturally like to feel I could hide if I needed to.
What's your favorite fruity scent? Fruitcake. ;P
Do you watch cartoons? I prefer adult cartoons like South Park and Family Guy, but for nostalgia's sake I recently picked up the complete series of The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. I could probably say anime too, but I don't really think of them on the same lines as cartoons.
Have you ever sat on a roof? I've sat on several.
Have you ever been to a different country? I've been to Spain once, and Turkey twice.

Do you believe in magic? I believe in illusion, and playing on the subconscious, but I don't believe in magic.
Do you hold grudges? I'm more the "forgive and forget" type, but only if whoever it concerns is willing to do the same. Otherwise I find they're not worth the trouble.

What do you plan on doing tomorrow? Going back to college and making some noise.
What's your favorite day of the week and why? Sunday, because it's the only day I have entirely free.
Do you have any nicknames? Snowy's the only nickname I've ever really had... though a few people sometimes call me Toblerone.
Have you ever been scuba diving? No.
What's your least favorite color? Pink usually. If it's overused.
Is there someone you have been constantly thinking about? If yes, who? Yes, and I'm not saying who.
Would you ever go skydiving? No.
What toothpaste do you use? Aqua-Fresh.
Do you enjoy challenges? Are you asking for a challenge!?
What's the worst injury you have had? I've never been notably injured... which is kinda boring, but I'm thankful for it.
What's the last movie you saw? The Village. It was on telly last night.
What do you want to know about the future? Will I still be single in 2009?
What does your last text message say? "just wondering if ya had a chance to look at the oxford fur thread" - From Silv.
Would you rather have money or love? Love. Definitely.
Do you miss anyone right now? I miss many people.
What's the last sporting event you watched? The football was on the telly in the canteen at work yesterday... I didn't so much "watch" it as much as "looked at" it. Though football has stopped being a sport and is now nothing more than an overrated, overhyped and overpayed franchise.
Do you need to do laundry? My Mum does the laundry...
Do you listen to the radio? Not very often.
Where were you when 9/11 happened? At my Grandma's house. I remember watching it on the news there, and realising full well that people would be refusing to shut up about it for years to come. Oh look, you're still asking about it now!
What do you do when vending machines steal your money? I shake the products out instead.
Have you ever caught a butterfly? A couple.
What color are your bed sheets? They're the Thunderbirds ones I've had since I was a wee cub.
What's your ringtone? I always have my phone on silent these days. It saves me silencing it on the way into the music department and work.
Who was the last person to make you laugh? My Grampy when we were joking about his new keyboard.
Name three things in the world you dislike: My job, Norton Antivirus and people who rub their relationships into other people's faces.
Name three people in the world you dislike: The last three people to kill me on Battlefield 2142.
Has a rumor even been spread about you? I hope not.
Do you like sushi? It's OK at best. I pefer noodles.
Do you believe in magic? I believe in illusion, and playing on the subconscious, but I don't believe in magic.
Do you hold grudges? I'm more the "forgive and forget" type, but only if whoever it concerns is willing to do the same. Otherwise I find they're not worth the trouble.
Huh??

I'm here on the advice of a friend... I've heard good things and bad things about FA and thought I may as well have a look for myself. It's late right now and I'm too tired to set up a proper journal, so I may do that tomorrow. So, for now, I'll just perform a quick recon before I retire to my kip.
Watch this space, art will begin to appear soon. (Disappears back off screen edge)
