Is it just that I've found all the potential hippogriffs and watched them, or are hippogriffs becoming more popular of late? Seems like I've seen rather a lot of them around recently.

Toying around with a sequence idea involving inflatables, but looking for people who'd be willing to draw it for a reasonable price. Being open right now is a plus but not essential. Anyone know of anybody?

Why is it that on neither of my fursonas, nobody ever gets the face right?

When I was an orca, yeah, I get it. Cetaceans are confusing; the anatomy is off the beaten path, and they're both pointier than you might suspect, and rounder at the same time.

But as a hippogriff, the people who've screwed up my beak outnumber the people who've drawn it correctly. I'm basically a parrot. It's not that hard. You have a big most-of-a-semicircle on top, then a smaller quarter-circle on the bottom. There's a plateau on the lower surface of the top beak as it curves up, near the front, and that's where the two parts meet.

There's no big flat portion on top; it's not rectangular. It's not triangular, either. I'm not a hawk. Put something hard between the two, you split it open. It's short, sturdy, and efficient.

What made you choose the species of your main Character?
Well, I used to be an orca until I started losing enthusiasm for it. The hippogriff was intended originally as an experiment, until I RP'ed it with usaf2222 (who was a gryphoness at the time, so we'd match), and it stuck. I was originally headed for flamingo territory, which explains some of the pieces in my gallery.

Is your character just like you, or how you want to be?
He's how I want to be.


Does your character have the same personality you have?
Mostly, albeit more outgoing (big surprise, right?), self-centered, and off the wall. Mostly, we occupy the same social niche of occasionally wisecracking before resuming our quiet positions on the wall.


Does your character have the same dislikes and likes as you do?
Yes, though he likes nuts a lot more.


Does your character look like you at all?
The orca did (he was literally me, except an orca), but currently? Not really, no. I don't have any piercings, and my IRL booty does in fact quit. The streaks of yellow in the crest are a reference to my actual hair color; my girlfriend was hoping I'd keep the orca's hair, but it didn't work well with also having the crest, so we compromised, and it all worked out.

Is your character the same gender as you, if not why?
Halfway? I'm male, he's a herm, so there you go. My philosophy is that if I don't have it, I can't use it.


Do you have more then one main character?
I've debated it, but I don't want to be that furry who has to be asked "which of your three dozen alts are you *this* time?" so I've not developed any others seriously. I've got a bunch of "maybe eventually"'s, but otherwise, no.

Do you have a back story for your character, if so does it have anything to do with your own history?
He has one, though it's hazy and I've not worked out the details. It has absolutely nothing to do with my real life, because my real life would make a hella boring backstory. Being an illegal accident of reproduction between two genetically-modified individuals is far more interesting.

And this is the question where everyone reaches reeeeeeeaaaaaaal deep to try to find a scrap of individuality out of being a dragon/dog/cat (I've seen people say yes on the grounds that no other character had his watch. No really.) I won't pretend I'm utterly unique, especially if you put me in the larger category of "mix-n-match gryphon," but I like to think I at least have a recognizable silhouette.

So, some of you know, I work at a hotel. This hotel is 45 minutes away from where I live, and I'm currently going 32 hrs/wk. Yesterday I got into work, and the log book said that the current night manager just gave her two weeks' notice, and she'll be gone come the 28th. I'm next in line for the position, after having been working here for two months now. So, when I get back from a retreat at the end of the month, I'll be moving out of my parents' house and out on my own.

Because the best part? As the night attendant, I get to live here, in the room on the other side of the wall from where I am now. For free. And I get bumped up to full time. This, in the middle of getting my car set up, and the start of winter. October and November will be one hell of a ride.

Okay, so, update on stuff...

I'd tell you that my personal stuff isn't dead, and that I've really been doing a bunch of stuff I haven't uploaded yet, except it's not really true. I've been getting some RP stuff ready for some games some friends and I have been doing, but other than that, I haven't really done much.

Part of it is, I've been busy. I've got a retreat coming at the end of the month, which has required me to pull out my fiddle and try to get back in practice. That hasn't really been easy. We've also been trying to race winter, which is coming early this year. The family has a lot of things to finish before the ground freezes, which has mostly been getting the livestock areas straightened around. Seems easy, except for the part about moving the two-ton chicken coop uphill, when it never stops raining.

My real excuse is apathy, which isn't really an excuse at all. I just can't work up the enthusiasm to write about anything anymore. After just a few stories posted, sounds like I'm being a drama queen, I know. I just don't feel like I'm putting out good stuff anymore. I've been writing for a few years longer than I've been here on this account, and my reaction to doing anything artistic by myself lately is one big "meh." Like I said, I've got some RP's with friends. Those help, because I have someone to share them with. I've even stopped working on my Dagorhir stuff, which any of my RL friends (or anyone who's seen my room) will tell you is one of my foremost hobbies. I don't know what the deeper reason is behind this funk, I just know it's there.


On a lighter note:
I bought my first car on Friday; it's a Mazda, and I paid $8,500 for a car my insurance valued at $12,500. Major steal.

I may also be getting promoted, we'll see. I've got the low rung on the totem pole at my hotel desk clerk job, meaning I get 32 hours a week, which doesn't pay well, considering I'm driving in from 45 minutes away. But, I was offered the possibility of the night attendant job, which would mean I get to move into the hotel for free and get bumped up to full time.

So yeah. Stuff.
