Been a Bit
General | Posted 9 months agoHaven't focused much on any major and finalized projects, but I have been practicing a fair bit. Got myself a new, portable tablet back during the holidays. Been doodling on that whenever I don't want to do anything serious. Dumping a bit of that in the scraps folder. Slowly familiarizing myself with Clip Studio since Photoshop is non-existent on mobile devices.
Aside from that, finally left my old job and got myself a new one. Been alright so far.
Not much else to say besides that. I'll try and post something here when I've got the time for it.
Wish everyone the best as always.

State of Things #4
General | Posted a year agoBeen pouring myself into another project that I don't know when to quit on - should hopefully be uploaded tomorrow (if that hurricane doesn't wipe out my power; much like that last one did just a week or so ago)
I really want to move on to a new project, but I've been so invested in seeing this one through - been having a lot of fun working through it, but I've been doing things again that I said I would hold off on. Maybe I'll learn self-control at some point.
Aside from the slight uptick in art, I'm not really sure what I've been doing lately. CK3 and Space Marine with friends, I guess. I've rarely touched my writing projects though. Slight uptick in working out as well, but mostly just doing through the motions of the day. Guess I'm okay with all of that if art starts taking center stage again.
Upload should be here tomorrow depending on how crazy I decide to take the last leg of the project.
Wish everyone the best like always.
Animated piece trend I think I forgot to add in one of my previous journal entries:

General | Posted a year agoAs one could tell from the lacking uploads, been fluctuating a bit on art again. For a while, it was work and laziness keeping me from it. Now, it's just laziness. I'll try and get back into the swing of things, maybe finish something lingering in that damn scraps folder of mine. I certainly have the time now.
I quit my job (finally). Didn't really have a plan in place after, I just needed to get out of there. I've got a bit of a money cushion, so I'm not too worried, but I definitely don't want a repeat of what happened the year after I graduated college. I've already bummed around for a bit, now I just need to refocus on shite. I definitely feel remarkably better since the change. One step at a time though.
Things are good. Been writing a shit load and gaming even more. God is it fun being a manchild. Should probably get back to adulting now that I've had my little 'vacation' from the world.
Probably spotted that my latest upload was of Crack-Duck of all things. Ended up stumbling back upon it. Good watch. Really wish there was more, but like I said in the post, I'm grateful for what we got.
Should be the link to the playlist.

That's all I really wanted to comment.
Take care everyone.

Gonna Shoot for an Upload Today
General | Posted 2 years agoIt's been a bit again - BUT - I've nearly finished rendering out a scene I promised I *wouldn't* make for one of my pieces in the scrap folder (can never seem to get myself to stop doing those). All the flat colors are there and most of the linework for everything. All that's left to go is seeing how ambitious I want to be when it comes to lighting and shading the piece. Wish me luck because I'm moving into my least confident phase of digital painting.
Outside of that, been doing some practice sessions with my friend on speed painting, form, figure work, landscape - you name we've touched a bit of it together. Been a nice change of pace there.
In terms of what's been eating away at most of my free time lately - Hunt: Showdown. Of all the damn things... I hadn't touched a competitive shooter seriously in so long (likely Halo: Reach, it's been that long) and somehow this game has had an absolute stranglehold on me. After several months (around the time of my last piece uploaded), it's now finally started to wane a bit.
Been keeping up with and starting new writing pieces nearly on the daily, so at least that's something creative. Some more characters from my newer short stories I want to bring to the gallery but I gotta finish the ones I got started already. I'll get there eventually. Had the wild idea to just step away for a few months and just dive into writing a novel, reset everything going on in my life. Sounds like fun.
Anyways, I'm looking to create a more consistent presence here and that just might become more of an actuality seeing as I'm on the brink of finally leaving my current job I've held for roughly 6 odd years now; I don't think I can stand working at that place another month, it does nothing to stimulate me anymore - been humoring the idea of giving them a notice for the end of February. I plan on making that final decision within the next few days here.
That's me and what I've been up to - as always, wish everyone the best.
(Life's been good despite how this all reads :D)

State of Things #2
General | Posted 2 years agoBeen a little bit, yeah?
I should be uploading some light work I pulled from my sketchbook sometime tomorrow. It's almost there, it just needs some final cleanup that I don't feel like doing anymore tonight.
I've been gaming quite a lot - Baldy's Gate took a lot of time off me. It's finally started to wane a bit though (Baldy and gaming as a whole), so I took that opportunity to start pushing back into art - been really meaning too, got the itch for it coming back again. Start doodling in the sketchbook again too. Some stuff from shows like: 'Wake Up, Carlo' and 'As Told by Ginger' (of all things) and some general pose and couple reference work. The piece coming out tomorrow is of some headshots of random characters not from any of my stories I've been writing. And speaking of stories, that's where all the rest of my free time has been going. Writing a ton of different stories than the ones I should really be focusing on, but whatever; it's all been fun. I've been meaning to whip up characters from some of them in photoshop, from my spur of the moment writings to my fully imagined stories.
So, what you can expect coming up next is a lot of characters I've wanting to ink from the various stories I've been writing and a potential page rendering of the girls from As Told by Ginger - Iunno, been a really good watch lately (bit surprised by it too). Will likely be a little collage like how I did with Caesar and his mother. Got a few pages in the sketchbook dedicated to reimagining their designs. They will more than likely find their way on here soon.
As for ANYTHING Mini-Loup, that shit is on the backburner for now. Sorry. I wanna shake off the little bit of rust that's been building before I retackle any of them - I want to do them all justice, especially the comic still in the works. I also started a funny, little one page comic on some of the characters from 'Wake Up, Carlo' but I don't think that shit will ever see the light of day. Who knows, maybe.
That's where I've been, where I want to go.
My favorite animated series on Youtube also released its latest chapter.

Something Will Be Uploaded
General | Posted 2 years agoNo matter what goes down today, I'm pushing to finish anything by the end of it -- SOMETHING WILL BE UPLOADED -- :D
So, um... not dead, just in a bit of a depressive slump. Not mentally, just physically if that makes sense. Haven't really felt like doing anything other than grinding shit out in games and I've been having a great time doing it. Sorry to the like 5 people that keep tabs on this page, haven't been feeling art much lately; haven't even dabbled in the sketch book in these last 2 months or so (pretty big indicator on all that right there).
I'll try and get the creative spark back and upload more on the regular. Got to be real patient with this boy here.
Also, if you've never seen this series on Youtube, this guy released episode 2 after I think 6 years or so of working on it. Do yourself a favor and give it a watch alongside episode 1.
The dialogue in it is phenomenal if the art style alone wasn't enough to convince ya to keep watching.

Been Writing a Ton
General | Posted 3 years agoLike the header says, I've been writing for about 3-4 hours just about every night (some nights far longer than that). Killing my sleep schedule quite a bit as a result. I've been going into work like a zombie after staying up until 8 in the morning on some occasions. I've been thoroughly enjoying myself though. I've always claimed to be a writer first; my first FA account back in high school uploaded nothing but stories on here.
So anyways, that's what I've been up to mostly since the recent dearth of content here. I spent a night or two refining the characters more in that Mini-Loup comic of mine, but that's about it art wise. I'm going with this slightly more polished style for the time being which will take me a little bit to get comfortable with doing, so the progress will be slower at first while I get used to it. Still got plans to continue working on that and for dropping a sheet of characters from one of the newer stories I started writing. I'll try and get something out here soon.
I don't believe I shared this one:

Thoughts Going into 2023
General | Posted 3 years agoGot a little piece I'm gonna finish up here real soon before I plan on making a push back into art. The piece is just an excuse to practice some anatomy and muscularity so dunno how well people will take to it, but it's something.
Beyond that, I'm shooting towards working on projects and putting them out more on the regular. Such as a page or two a week on the Mini-Loup comic, more sketchy-quick pieces, or maybe throwing in that weekly art practice thing into the loop every now and again as long as I'm working on and namely, finishing pieces. I want to build a more consistent schedule for myself instead of what I've been going at lately. Less of 'work for a solid week and a half and take a month off' to 'a project finished or focused on each week.' Doesn't have to be massive, just something.
S'pose that's my little goal for the new year.
Other reason I wanted to make this post, I was browsing through my subscriptions on Youtube and came upon a pretty good art tutorial on "expressive eyes." It's a fairly quick and concise watch if anyone's interested in a 15-minute video on the subject. I think it's worth the watch even to someone who's got it all down.

Moving Forward
General | Posted 3 years agoWith the current (s'posed to be) little project I've been fiddling with, I've realized just how little I've practiced foreshortening, and it got me into a "developing techniques" kinda mindset. The goal is to do some practice every day even if it's only for a half hour or so whether that been the aforementioned foreshortening practice, speed painting backgrounds or some other focused element like a hand or feet day or sumtin - whatever gets me drawing really. Might be a little demanding with my current 6-day work weeks but there should be no excuse for at least a half hour each day.
I'll likely be posting the week round-ups in the scraps folders or maybe the main page depending on the results.
Anyways, that's my goal moving forward, and I plan to keep it going for as long as possible.
Obligatory journal furry vidja for ya: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxJLu8_Cxz4
Should also check out the new Pelo Halloween video that got released.
Wish everyone the best as always.

Power Back
General | Posted 3 years agoSaw the trucks pull up right outside my house, the whole street cheered for him and he literally finished restoring our power in less than 5 minutes. Why we were delayed for a week and a half I have no clue. Glad the power's back and I can get back to work on some digital projects.
I've got 2 and half chapters of Mini-Loup storyboarding done now, time to start inking that. Lot-a-lot to start drawing there.
Wanna do that art journey thing real quick before then. Might take a little hiatus on friend's project to do some personal work. Might throw the progress of that in the scrap folder for the time being.
A few other things to do, so let's get started.
Wish you all the best.

Back in a Bit (Hopefully)
General | Posted 3 years agoHurricane wiped by and took the power with it. Looks like it might be a week or so before my area gets it back. Gave me some time to go through my closet and organize/throw shit out. Found all my old sketch books and drawings from when I first started doing furry shite back in high school. When I can use my computer again I'm gonna catalogue the whole journey. Maybe someone else might find that interesting. Unfortunately, I couldn't find my old usbs of my digital art (bit of an issue - has all my graphic design work on them. Should be on my laptop as well but I'd like to find those usbs).
Been a little dead on the art front lately. Only thing I'd been working on is finishing one of the paintings for my friend's dnd species. Slow going but going. The mini-loup comic is finally just about out of storyboarding phase aside from the last few panels and I'll be inking up the pages as soon as I can. Had plenty of time to think lately so I went over to an old project I started but didn't get far into. Looking to make a cover shot for that when I can. Gonna try and release a cover for it alongside the mini-loup comic cover, although the actual content is far from being released.
Not dead yet just a bit busy and lazy.
Wish you all the best. (Sent through my phone so I couldn't provide a video this journal :< )

State of Things
General | Posted 3 years agoBeen a bit distracted by life and an outside project for a friend.
Friend of mine has been developing races for his DnD campaigns so I've been helping him visualize one of the races. We just got out of the drafting phase and are closing in on the final design, so I should be able to hop back into my projects here soon. Been thoroughly enjoying the whole process of it all. I'll likely upload the completed design here (doubt my buddy would be against that).
Outside of that, been working a bit more lately and watching random shite. Having run out of episodes of Forged in Fire, I came across the Great British Baking Show and absolutely fell in love with everything about it. Got me back in the kitchen experimenting with new food/recipes again. Been too long there. Some decent movies I came across have been:
Straight Up - Dialogue driven film tackling topics like asexuality and acceptance while blending in comedy. Great film if you enjoy dialogue focused works. Whole thing was shot in less than 2 weeks I believe. The interviews with the cast and director were a good watch as well.
Funan - Animated film tackling the effects of the Khmer Rouge on a family forced from their home. Don't expect a happy, uplifting film here.
Hustle - Adam Sandler giving another shot at serious acting instead of donning a silly voice in some "comedy". In short, he nails it. Fantastic sports movie, worth a watch even if you aren't interest in basketball (which I very much am not). Expect an uplifting film of perseverance and hard work here :}
Aight, so that's where I've been. Wish everyone the best.
If you have a half an hour to burn, Zeurel just released a project he's been working on for some time. Beautifully animated... as is everything of his.

Little Update
General | Posted 3 years agoCycling between two projects at the moment, one being the old ass Mini-Loup piece I've been putting off for so long and the other involving the two hyena brothers I uploaded recently. Hyena bros have my attention at the moment (at the inking stage with them) and I'll likely use what I learn from painting their scene to help me realize the Mini-Loup one. I promise I'll finish the damn Mini-Loup piece eventually so I can move on from it, maybe quickly finishing up the Mini-Loup 'n Crew illustrator piece while I'm at it. Just not too big on the painting/coloring bit of art, comes with the lack of experience I s'pose. As with anything, the more I do it the better I'll start getting at it and the more confidence I'll have in it.
On a side note, I've been polishing up the dialogue to the supposed Mini-Loup comic I've been promising. As with everything, it's gotten out of hand and now I have 7 pages of dialogue just for the opening scene alone. Gonna be a ton of fun composing all the scenes for that. I need to quell my ambitions a bit XD
Anyway, I've quite the plethora of options for art should I go about doing any of them.
Trying to be more active on here, so I'll do my best in that regard.
Kinda made it a trend to add some animation at the end of my journals. I might as well keep that going, nearly run dry on anything anthro related so might have to lose that aspect of it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_F9EMbkvLBQ - Video by Worthikids. Every video of his is golden. I'd say he's the best creator on the site. Anyways, there's an owl in it so I haven't lost yet.

Not Dead Yet
General | Posted 4 years agoRoughed out a new piece in the sketchbook that I'm gonna try and take lightly so as to put it out a bit more timely. Everything else is on the backburner as of right now so I can focus on just finishing something... by starting a new piece. Piece will be flat colors with minimum shading with *ahem* 7 characters... should be fine.

Tiny Update
General | Posted 4 years agoApologies for the lack of art/presence here, been enthralled by a few games as of late. With Back4Blood on the near horizon and my Ironman in OSRS finally reaching end game content, I've found myself completely obsessed with gaming - been sometime since gaming has had this tight of a hold on me. I'll do my best to try and get something out within the next week or two; been feeling a little guilty pouring this much of my free time into gaming without at least doing some sketchbook stuff on the side. Only thing art related I've done was a few rounds in gartic phone with some random people. I'll start shaking off some of this rust and get something out soon.
Wish everyone the best.

Russian Winnie-The-Pooh
General | Posted 4 years agoAnimation Obsessive shared a new animation of a Russian version of Winnie the Pooh from the 70s. Thought I'd also share it here. Quite the interesting little watch.

Figured I'd also share the short film listed in my info panel: The Dam Keeper.
Dunno how long it'll be up on this youtube page considering it wasn't uploaded by the original creators on the youtube channel, Tonko House. Anyone looking for short snippet pieces on painting (digital and traditional) could find interest in the Tonko House channel.

Other than that, wish everyone the best.

Current State of Things
General | Posted 4 years agoSo, judging by my last journal from 3 months or so ago I was promising a simple piece that would be uploaded quite soon. Welp, that piece evolved from one character with a simple background to a detailed, painted background and then to another character added to the piece, a story written associated with the two characters and now introduction of a third character that I finished sketching out the design for tonight. So, that's where that piece is. I haven't touched the Mini-Loup project since then - a bit scared at the work ahead of me there. Trying things out with this current piece before delving back into the Mini-Loup one in hopes of using what I'm learning from this piece to better realize the previous work. Learning to paint in photoshop be hard.
Aside from that, I'm slowly getting more time away from work, so maybe art will progress at a better rate than it has been as of late. Been bouncing a lot between writing and drawing whenever one begins to stagnate or I find a barrier in either path. Writing has definitely been helping in terms of motivation all around. I've always been a writer at heart and only recently found myself delving into the art world. My first foray into furaffinity was publishing stories on a different account nearly a decade ago. Wild to think (account has since been purged). I've got multiple scenes from three different stories I'm desperate to breathe life into, so time and dedication are the only limiting factors at the moment.
(The Three Stories)
*The Mini-Loup fan comic is still on the backburner but there's a 3-4 act story already structured out. The story will center around Caesar's and Mini-Loup's budding friendship and how that affects the other cast of characters from the remaining Grunt brothers to Aniceh and Mini-Loup's other close-knit friends. The comic will focus on family and loss and the readjusting and re-evaluating how the characters perceive themselves and those around them. An at times dark, but more so hopeful look at growing up set in the Mini-Loup universe.
*The new art piece also has an accompanying story that I've just been doing for fun. Story might see the light of day accompanying the art uploaded but it's currently in a real rough shape. Story revolves around the journey of a small group of teenage friends and how one's unorthodox sexual awakening (boy be gay for his bestie) in a small, traditional farming town in Switzerland, and the societal pressures that come with growing up, will play out.
*The last, is a planned 3 book series inspired by Brian Jacques' Redwall universe which has finally starting coming out of the outlining and character development/motivation stage. Been a couple of years now fiddling with this piece, but progress is taking place there. A scene pulled from the early chapters might find it's way into the art pool after I finish up the Mini-Loup piece. The story will actually start on book 3 near the end of the lead character's journey. Won't give out much more than that for this one.
One other little, big project I've been ruminating on lately has been pulling together all my furry art from when I started junior year of high school up until now and making an edited progression of those ten years. The thought usually occurs when I try pushing off doing art or writing but if anyone's interested in seeing that journey I'll make more of an effort to put it together.
Alright, there's your wall of text. I'll do my best to become more active on here, wish you all the best.

Art
General | Posted 5 years agoTo anyone keeping tabs on this page, sorry for the dead content as of late. Work took over my life this past month, more so than normal. The meager free time I've had has gone elsewhere.
Progress has been made on the torturous "Morning" piece as I continue to add more shit to it without end. I'm doing everything I can to avoid starting the painting and lighting process. I'll likely post its progress in the scraps folder after I finish this journal.
I do have a project, not featured in the scraps folder, that's pushed its way to the front. Was doodling some new characters in my sketchbook when one stood out more than the others so I started fleshing him out more in photoshop. I've learned my lesson with that other piece of mine, so this one should be a bit simpler in execution. I'm aiming for Saturday/Sunday for its completion. Hopefully stamping a date on it will move the gears a bit. No peeking until then.
So, that's where things are at currently. On a side note, lemme know if anyone would be interested in what I doodle in my sketchbooks. Far more unrefined and dirty than what I try to push for in photoshop, but it might help in alleviating the wait between uploads.
Wish you guys the best
