Hello all! Small update.


I had to take a week off as my husband took the week off so that we could catch up on errands, housework, and move out the old lumpy couch for the new one. Turns out I way overdid it and most of that week. Something went wrong with my shoulder and I couldn't lift it to certain heights at different angles. First 3 days were miserable as getting in and out of shirts, jackets, and brassier required my husband's assistance. Good news is I have regained a lot more motion! It just sucks that on top of dealing with my usual day to day hand pains and numbess I have to keep my shoulder in mind too.

Other good news...

I've kept this on the downlow for a bit until I could confirm everything but I am happy to say I have finally gotten insurance! The papers went through. I've tried setting up an appointment to get a primary care physician so that I can start the tests that my hand/wrist needs but haven't been able to -yet-. I'll be trying to get the doctor recommended to my by friends and who happens to be in my town area so, fingers crossed she has openings :D

Thanks to 2 generous donators, I can now buy Clip Studio Paint~ ! Thank you guys SO MUCH!

I found out that Clip Studio Paint has a 60% off sale and I would really really love to get it. I have about 14$ in my paypal and am short 11$. I really liked this program on my Surface Pro and would love to get it for my work deskstop. I can't take on any more digital commissions right now but I can sell traditional medium art! I will make small chibis for $3 in markers and color pencils or sell 1 nicer bust/waist up piece in a mixed medium done in a more vintage/floral/art noveau style for $30. I was hoping I could get some thoughts, opinions, tips, and guides on how best to tackle a Tumblr page.

I have my old account that I have had on and off for many years ( Soraicefreeze ) and then one I opened not too long ago for my furry art right when I got into the fandon ( sorabito-art )

I have neglected both and feel maybe I should start over again? Or start a new one for more fanart, anime, and human art, and dust off my furry account.

Please give me your thoughts and opinions on that.

Also, what is a nice way to present a Tumblr page as far as looks and themes go? I want it to be easy to use to promote my art and maybe share little personal tidbits (although I prefer to use Twitter for that).

I'm essentially going to have a tradition of having a annual winter themed YCH based off of my own personal interest. Last year was Winter Plum where I shared a small tidbit of what that theme meant to me. This year it is stars based :D

Personal update:
I have been devastated by a sudden and acute sense of pain in my drawing hand the last week+ and it has been a trial to stay positive. I try the ol "Take it day by day" but was blindsided by family news. I am very deeply sorry for being silent. I am not ignoring anyone. I tried hard to respond to comments and notes but I have been floating around the house in and out of a state of shock. I promise to get back to responses at every lucid moment of my mind and when my fingers can handle typing :)

As for the news, I normally wouldn't want to burden folks with too many inane things that don't pertain to art but I'm at a loss. Step dad has told me that he as prostate cancer. He had scared me by saying things such as " I have known for years now that this will one day happen," and "the doctor says that even late stages of this cancer will allow for 5 years of living," and " I am okay with dying." Thankfully my mother spoke with his doctor and confirmed that it's the beginning stages. Not all hope is lost! Or so I thought until I received more disturbing calls where my step dad is rejecting group therapy which also helps him to cope with the news and help him out with rides. He is an old Taiwanese guy and so... I am wondering if it's some form of male bravado? No problem, I got this. I can slowly talk him into taking the group therapy. And then I get calls asking to research coffee enemas and vitamins to help his body. Okay, I still got this. My parents are very natural remedy, ancient Chinese medicinal brown goop happy, and try all sorts of things with crystals, lasers etc etc. I can still work with this! And then finally... I am told that he wasn't planning on getting treatment for his cancer? And suddenly the first phone call has me in a fritz and I am having some difficulty coping and am at a total loss. I am very powerless and am acutely aware of how little change I can do while still being loaded up with responsibilities. I am finding my "It's okay, I GOT this :D" mentality slowly cracking and I just want to art to calm and recenter myself but, the hand is not in a state that can do that.

Some positive things that I have been focusing on: My husband loves me dearly. He supports the both of us and words very hard and wears himself out at work. Despite that he still helps me with cooking since I can't hold a knife safely for long periods. He's helped me clean a lot. He tackled a few items from my "Honey Do-List" AND helped me out with my small garden. I get plenty of cuddles and pets which has helped me feel grounded.
I am also very lucky in knowing very kind and patient friends and clients on FA. I have gotten Notes that make me tear up because they shown some genuine care for my health and artistic well being. I get choked up sometimes and have trouble responding because to me those notes were small little life-lines that reassured me. Thank you. A thousand thank yous!


And with that I'm going to bury my red face in my pillow now and fight the urge to delete this journal because I have spilled my guys and feel very exposed. So... hi! Thank you for reading. Stay cool!

I hope the day is treating you well :) I am happy to say that I am opening two Wing-It sketch/doodle slots. The price varies from $15 to $30 depending on what you want and the complexity. Most of my samples are around the $25 range.

As a wing-it, I don't send a sketch for approval BUT, I do come up with a couple concepts for you to approve of before starting on the art. I also frequently post WIPs on my twitter account ( https://twitter.com/SorabitoArt ) so you can sneak a peek there. I sometimes post WIPs on my FA if it's a rather large illustration.

Payment is up-front in USD via a Paypal invoice.

One thing to note with me is that I have chronic hand pains that can flair up badly - so bad that I can't old utensils and objects. This means I on occasion have around 2 months delay. I will say this though: I have a bill coming up very soon so I am very motivated to get the work done for you fast so that I can open up another slot.

I will try to work with your budget and am always open to communication. I ask that you keep all inquiries related to your commission to once a week. Hi guys~ I am finally back home.

My husband and I enjoyed Oahu a lot. It's fun to visit a neighboring island that is the polar opposite of your home island XD Us country bumpkins enjoyed what a city life had to offer for a week. So... much.. TRAFFIC!!! Holy cow. Most of our time was spent on the road trying to get un-lost. I was navigating which mean directions to my poor husband like "Okay so you're going to stay on this road. It's gonna make a weird arch. Keep continuing straight but to the right." The sad thing is that him driving and me navigating was the optimal combo XD

Some unfortunate news:
My replacement phone still isn't in despite the warranty claim made a month ago.
During our vacation the (brand new) fridge died so EVERYTHING inside it went bad and moldy.
The cats escaped the house on the day we were set to return. Smarty cat popped out a screen for her prison break. Idiot fat baby boy followed her but is scared so came scampering back. Husband had to drive down the block to find her in a neighbor's driveway at 1am.
My husband got sick since our return and infected me so now I'm also sick XD I still managed to do 3 loads of laundry though!

I'm doing pretty well mentally though. Heavy shopping was done. I don't think anyone cares to know about my otaku side so I'll spare y'all the details. Despite the mass of UHG after the vaycay I am very positive. I almost have space on my table to work on so once I finish the post-vaycay cleanup I'll get right onto art.

Small update. I am still in and out of some form of illness. I lose days to a haze that just comes back almost on a weekly basis. My uncle abroad, who is an MD, recommended I take some things and do some things. It's kind of helping. I get a searing ache in my ear that throbs but it comes and goes with less frequency now.

All in all, I am taking things day to day. I try to do art, I really do. Some nights I am well enough to do small doodles on my tablet. I keep my table cleared on the rare chance when I am well enough to paint. I would love to one day sell original illustrations - I love painting and am reminded the joy I had in highschool when I had access to nice art supplies.

I'll be leaving for a quick trip for 1 week to celebrate a couple years of being together with my husband. I'll be gone for one week but I'll bring my tablet and sketch book. Never know if and when my hands can hack it :D

Lastly, my husband indulged me by getting me a lovely new keyboard. The keypads are a lot softer than my old ones. So far it's great - I don't get an immediate pain in the bone when I'm typing. Between this and my new ergonomic tower mouse I might be able to use a computer again! HURRAY!

Hello all,

Thank you for taking your time to check in with me. I will try to keep this brief but I am exposing a more vulnerable side to me. I had debated on and off 2 weeks ago if I should do this update or not. I felt that it's only polite to let folks know what's going on so that they can understand why things on my art side moves so slowly.

I have been silent on FA and other social platforms and for that I apologize. Several irl factors has been dragging at me both physically and mentally and it has been difficult.

I feel that my right hand doesn't want to ever get better and that fear really bogs my mind. Health wise, my tonsils were swollen for almost the entire week. I wasn't able to speak above a whisper and it hurt to swallow anything. I'm amazed at the power of prescription meds though - my husband who does have insurance had some leftover meds from when he had throat problems. Making remarkable progress - Am able to get out of bed and do things without feeling extremely tired.

My mum has had several high stress incidences occur around the same time period, and it has been a journey of epic proportions trying to help her out and cope with the fallout of dealing with an Asian mum who is stressed.

I don't want to use the "d" word lightly but at a certain point I have to admit it: Everything has been weighing me down and I have been spiraling in and out of depression for the last month or so. Not being able to do art is rather devastating as it was a huge mood elevator for me.

That said, I don't go down without a fight - I had spoken with 2 manufacturers to see what it would take to have enamel pins made. I have mentioned it often on twitter but realized I hadn't spoken about it much on FA. The price tag is pretty staggering but I will definitely save up the money to make it happen. Once I come up with and ink 2 designs I'll run a poll to pick out the winner for the first pin. Once I am able to sell enough to cover the cost of the 1st pin I'll put in the order for another pin design.

I feel awful for my silence and for that I apologize. I don't have much to show you guys but if you have any questions, personal, funny, quirky, curiousity etc etc, please feel free to comment - I will do my best to reply :) I may be slow as after typing this out my hand needs a good rest.

Hello my dear kind watchers :)

I wanted to give a small personal update to let folks know what's going on. I had been avoiding to do one for the last week because typing hurts my hand but I am now in a place where I can do one <3

To start, I bought a new wrist brace that is more appropriate for daytime use. It keeps my wrist in better position while giving my fingers flexibility to actually hold things. My other wrist brace was a night-time/sleeping wrist brace which more or less immobilized my whole hand.

The new compression gloves work amazing! I am a bit sad though as I've realized that I must keep my gloves on most of the day and night. Taking the gloves off means my hands feel pain within minutes.

I've gone to see a doctor! My home island was lucky and fortunate to have a few days of free healthcare as part of a training program that the US's Department of Defense holds between the different divisions. The doctor there... didn't exactly fill me with hope. He said no physical therapy will cure me and that with "hand problems, so many things could be the problem" and thus I still don't know what the exact issue is. He personally thinks that I have nerve damage in my elbows and that I need an MRI scan, a nerve test, and then surgery. I later went to the physical therapists on-site. They showed me a few nerve stretches that have been helping. They also feel like it's carpal tunnel and have given me a lot of stretches for that. A lot of them were similar to the ones I learned from a friend who went through surgery in her wrist so I feel very validated in all my efforts. The results have been good. It's really hard for me to go day to day and not do art and that has taken a straining toll on my moods and mental health. I have been working as hard as I can doing what I can while keeping in my my limitations.

That said, my husband has been very supportive and amazing. He has been helping around the house more and cooking. He has also bought me a discounted display model of the Microsoft Surface Pro 4! I love it so much and have named it "Midna". The keyboard attachment on it is nice and allows me to type a little mroe before I feel discomfort. What is even more amazing though is now I have a pseudo tablet I can sketch on when I am in bed and hit with insomnia :D This leads me to my next announcement:
