"Your character here" writing. Uh... what?
General | Posted 8 years agoI've seen like three "YCH story" ads now. None of them seem to have any actual story written. Like... the point of a YCH art deal is that you know what you'll be getting ahead of time, you've seen the image sketched out, you know what it'll look like, just color it like your character or whatever and ta-da.
For this to be equivalent in writing, the author would have to "sketch" a story in some way. I have no idea how that would actually work. I mean I guess the equivalent is a detailed outline, but that really doesn't convey what the story will be like in the same way a sketch conveys what a picture will be like.
But I really don't know how you'd write a mostly-finished story with a fill-in-the-blank character and not have it be pretty shit either.
Although the voice of madness in the back of my head insists that it's probably possible and I could probably do it if I really tried. Shut up, crazy muse, I have enough writing as it is, and nobody's going to pay me big bucks to put their character into a generic fetish story. Especially not when they could just pay me to write a non-generic fetish story.

Actual pornz, omg.
General | Posted 8 years agohttp://www.furaffinity.net/view/25647632/ There it is. My first piece of outright erotica here. Well, okay, I did post something else and take it down, and there's that Link/Knil thing I went ahead and put in the erotica folder because it comes about as close as you can get to it... but yeah. Now there is porn which is not going away. And it is stallion threesome porn. :D It's pretty great, imho.
More coming soon, too. I'm just debating what to start next. I've been uploading all the stuff I'd started here but hadn't finished. Now I might go ahead and drop some sequels, and rummage through the folders for any related erotic shorts, I think a few of these have them.
After that... probably lots more ponies, including some more pony porn. :3 I've got plenty.

Commissions Masterpost Mirror
General | Posted 8 years agoThis post should be kept up to date, so feel free to refer back to it later.
Also, if you just want to support me but don't want to commission anything specific, please check out my Patreon page!
Topics I'll accept.
I'm willing to discuss anything, including extreme fetishes. I'm a little weak on comedy, my grimdark game is only so-so, and I'm picky about what non-consent and foalcon/cub/other underage I'll write. Anything else is probably fair game. The list of things I feel I can do well is pretty long; you can check out my past stories for some idea of what that entails. (It ranges from the fluffiest of g-rated cute fluff to serious hardcore fetish material.) I also write non-pony stories.
Prices.
I charge 2 cents a word, or $20 per thousand words. There is no extra charge for any particular topic. I do, however, charge extra for rush commissions and private commissions/rights to stories/ghostwriting. (See below for how that works.) I also have discounts available for my Patreon patrons. Patreon commissions work differently and tend to go more slowly, but can also be much cheaper. You can ask me if you have any questions about them.
How to commission me.
Just drop me a PM so we can talk about your story. Please include the topic you're interested in, and any outline or plot description you have. If you have a length in mind for it, or a budget you're sticking to, let me know that as well. I'll reply and let you know if the idea is one I'm willing to accept and give you any concerns I may have about it.
Once we've agreed on the story and the estimated length, I'll ask for half of the total price up front, based on that estimate. I'll then keep you updated as I write the story (or you can let me know if you'd just prefer to read it as a complete story when it's done.) How long it takes to finish will depend on the story length, what's going on in my life, what other projects I have going, and how much time my kiddo gives me off. Stories can take several months to complete, especially anything over 5k words.
After it's finished, I'll send you the rough draft and ask you for the second payment, based on the actual length the story runs. (If it runs massively longer than the estimate, I will discount the extra words, since you didn't ask for them, but I'm usually fairly close.) You then suggest any edits or changes you want at this point, and we can agree on things like cover art, whether you want your name attached to the story, and when the story will be published to the site. I usually just park any new story at the end of my publication queue, but that can be months long, and I'm willing to jump commissions up for customers who prefer not to wait.
When all that's hammered out, payment is received, and the story comes up in the queue, it'll be published on the site, with all my other stories. Please note that publication by me does not guarantee a story will be popular. Yes I've had popular stories. I've also had stories, even quite good ones, bomb completely. Fame is fickle.
Rush short stories.
Rush commissions jump to the head of my writing queue, I'll work on them before any other stories. They are guaranteed to be finished in two weeks or less. Rush commissions cost 2.5 cents a word, or $25 per thousand words. I will only take rush commissions for stories 5k words long and under. These stories otherwise work exactly like any commission.
Private commissions.
If you don't want your story published by me, I'm still willing to write it, but I will do so at a "pro" rate of 5 cents a word, or $50 per thousand words. This includes nearly unlimited editing; since you're the only audience for such stories, I'll keep working on it until you're completely happy. This rate can also include publication or other rights, although I will still require an author credit wherever it does end up published. If you want me to ghostwrite for you, with you credited as author, we can discuss it, pricing will depend on the situation. This is not a rush rate, rush rate as described above is an additional .5 cent per word and can be added to this rate for short enough stories if so desired.
If all my slots are full.
If everything is full, or if you don't want/can't get a rush commission, I can put your name on my waiting list, and you'll have the next chance at nabbing a slot. Just let me know. We can work out the details ahead of time and I can just take payment and start writing, or we can decide on the story to write when your slot comes up. You can decline if you don't have funds on hand and just go to the bottom of the list or be taken off of it, no harm, no foul.
So that's it. Feedback on any of this welcome. So are questions, if you happen to have any!

I live! (Aka. Incoming! Plus erotica, commissions, etc.)
General | Posted 8 years agoI've been alive all this time, but I've also been writing 90% My Little Pony fanfiction. There's a site specifically for it, where I get lots of feedback and favorites and things of that nature, and I've really been enjoying it there. But lately I feel like returning to my roots a bit and working on some things that aren't pony as well. Shocking, I know.
However, I'm really proud of a lot of my pony stuff. So, well... incoming! I'm going to be uploading a TON of pony stories. I have 40+, some of which are multi-chapter works, that aren't here on this site already. (There's also a little bit of Zelda fanfic too.) It's going to take a while. I don't want to dump them all in one day, that seems like a great way to have nobody here read any of them. I mean, that's a lot of stories. I'm going to try to remember to post at least one every day for a while, though. It should be fun!
I also (edit) have reorganized my stories to take advantage of the folder feature. This means I no longer need the clunky reader's guide, and it should be much easier to find everything.
In other news, you know how back in the day I tended to never do erotica/M rated stuff? Well... things have changed over the last few years, shall we say. To be clear, I've always written a certain amount of that kind of thing. I just haven't always been comfortable sharing it. Well, I'm a lot less shy than I used to be, and I've written some pretty kinky smut, lemme tell you. :D
And I now write said kinky smut to order. Yep, I take erotic commissions, as well as the less adult kind! I also am totally comfortable with just about every kink. (I am picky about what non-consent I'll write, and I'm picky about what underage content I'll write, that's about it.) I'll have more details about how that works in a future journal. For right now I will note that I have a commissions waiting list, so I can't write you anything right this second, but I write relatively quickly, so if you get on the list now it'll probably be no more than a few months before your turn comes up. $15 per thousand words, half up front, half on completion, via paypal. Easy-peasy.
Anyhow, this probably has no readers right now, since I'm pretty sure everyone who used to follow me has wandered away, but if any of you are still hanging about, it's good to be back! And once the pony flood is up I will be talking more about some more furry-specific stuff I have in the works, so keep hanging around.
P.S. A lot of the pony stories are seriously good. I know people hear "MLP fanfic" and think "fluffy trash" but honestly I explore everything from failing to make a cup of tea to the death and rebirth of the universe in these things. Even if you're not super into MLP, if you like my writing, you'll probably like at least some of these. And the more recent ones especially are better than anything I've posted here, my writing skills have been improving over the last few years. :3

You can consider this account dead.
General | Posted 10 years agoYeah, sorry. Those of you who've liked my stories can at least still follow my fanfiction at http://www.fimfiction.net/user/SPark and http://archiveofourown.org/users/bladespark I'm not really working much on original stories right now anyway, so you won't be missing anything.
And of course my main account, http://www.furaffinity.net/user/bladespark/ is still quite active, if you don't follow me there already you can find my sewing and various other projects there.

Ponyfic, yes or no?
General | Posted 11 years agoI have a TON of stuff I haven't posted here, pretty much everything I've written for the past year or so. It's all My Little Pony fanfic, though. I've been posting it on FimFiction where people actually want it, and I'm pretty popular there these days.
I thought I'd ask, though, if any of my watchers really want to read it here. Is it worth bothering to post?
Meanwhile, I have a little short thing I wrote for a RP site that I ended up bailing out on. They require you to prove that you're capable of writing to join, and suggested I write something about one of my characters. It came out readable, at least, and it's not pony, so I figured I should post. :3

Heh. Uh... not dead.
General | Posted 11 years agoSo yeah, logged in today and realized that I hadn't been on this account for more than a month. Oops.
I've been doing a TON of writing lately, but it's all been pony fanfic, which these days I post over at FimFiction and not here. I should probably cross-post some of it someday, but I've been busy and have been letting FA kind of languish, even my main account.
Anyhow, if you do want to check out what I've been writing, you can always pop over to http://www.fimfiction.net/user/SPark and have a look.

Are there are good writing communities to post to?
General | Posted 12 years agoSeriously. Are there are good *communities* where people actually interact and comment and talk to each other? 'Cause I can't find any. I get a very few, rare comments on fanfiction.net, but that's only for fanfic stuff, so better than half my work can't go there, and even then it's not ideal. AO3 is a nice setup, but it's also a ghost town, I don't get many views and I've had so few comments there total, on all my stories together, that I can count them on my fingers. And FA... eh. Even before the current issues I didn't exactly think this site was ideal for writing. The only good thing here is that some folks do actually leave me comments. Which is kind of why I post at all. If I didn't want interaction with readers, I'd just leave the stories in folders on my computer, you know?
Anyhow, any suggestions welcome.

Still not dead. Also kickstarter.
General | Posted 12 years agoI'm afraid my writing muse is taking a bit of a nap while my art muse runs wild. :3 I've been spending most of my free time on sculpting, and on the kickstarter project that my sculpting created. You can check it out here: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects.....n-bjd-ball-pet
I'm also running a giveaway to promote it, so you can see the prizes and how to enter here: http://bladespark.tumblr.com/post/6.....-like-free-art

Shards! ZOMG!
General | Posted 12 years agoOne of my most popular stories, and I'm finally updating it again. :D Hopefully all the people who liked it haven't gotten bored and wandered off since I last posted a chapter.
Oh also, if you don't follow my other two accounts you may not have heard about my kickstarter. Let me remedy that. I'm running a kickstarter! The goal is to get some little doll-sculpture-critters I made professionally cast, since I am bad at casting. (Can't be good at everything.) More info is here: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects.....d-pet-in-resin

I've been role playling lately
General | Posted 12 years agoIt's kind of fun. Although some of the rps I've got going on are more fun than others. But I don't drop a story the instant it bores me a bit, that'd be rude. :D
Anybody here do freeform (ie. no dice/stats) role playing?

A finished story! ZOMG
General | Posted 12 years agoI just finished writing the last line of Silent Echoes. :D It'll take a few days to get it all posted, but it is all done. So no chance of being left hanging on this one!
As for things that are still hanging, I have written two more chapters of To Light a Candle, they just need to go through my editor, since that is my Great Epic and I'm having it edited, unlike everything else I've ever written. :D
I also have written a couple of new chapters of Shards, which I will start posting once I'm done with Silent Echoes. It's still not quite finished yet, but I have plotted it all out, it's just a matter of hammering out the last couple of chapters.
And if you didn't notice my posting The Longest Night the other day, btw, you should check it out. It's a 100% finished, stand-alone, original story, set in the 1800s in the arctic. Also it has vampires. Well, a vampire. He does not sparkle. Read it, you know you want to!

I'm writing again. Also Weasyl?
General | Posted 13 years agoYep, got the bug again, at least briefly. Will I finish anything this time? Who knows! I have started the sequel to Dark, but my attention has mostly been grabbed by a new LoZ fic. We'll see how my muse wants to proceed. :)
Also, I have a weasyl for my fursuit stuff. Should I put my writing up there too? Does anybody here use weasyl?

I hate my muse
General | Posted 13 years agoI would like to write something else, plz. *sigh* Why the hell does something that's part of my own mind pay so little attention to what I want to do?
Current story status
General | Posted 13 years agoHello there loyal readers! I thought I'd let you know what's going on here in my writing world. I've been doing a TON of writing in recent weeks. It's mostly fanfic, which frankly is a lot of fun for me, and I know some of you reading like it. The rest of you will have to survive somehow. :)
I'm about to post the first chapter of a new Link story. It's quite different from my previous Zelda story. It's not a romance, for one thing. And though it features Dark Link he's a very different character in this. You'll have to read it and find out.
Here's what's up on my other in-progress stories:
The Spark to Light a Candle - Chapter 7 is still at the editor, nothing I can do there. Chapter 8 is written and waiting. Chapter 9 is underway. Will be finished, I promise, (I am WAY too excited about the epic climax of the story to not do it) but no idea when.
Dragon City - I get asked about this a lot. It's a much harder story to tell than Dragon Child, and Dragon Child took me a decade to write. So yeah, it's not going to be done any time soon. But it is still in progress.
The Amazing Adventures of Roland - I gotta admit I got bored with it. Will I finish it? Maybe. It was a lot of fun getting the feedback from you all, I enjoyed it quite a lot, but I'm not in the mood to do group collab right now, so it's very much on hold.
Edward and the Hexagon, To Sing a Silent Song, City of Sunlight, and The Taste of Man are all being occasionally poked at but are more or less on the back burner. Indri has kind of died, I don't know if I'll every do anything with it. I still like the concept, but the story is refusing to come together for me at all.
So that's everything, I think. :) I have a lot of other stories under way as well, but most of them aren't really worth sharing here, I've already left enough people hanging without posting every little half-baked opening paragraph I come up with.

Looking for a pre-reader!
General | Posted 13 years agoActually I'm looking for two of them. I need one person who IS familiar with the Zelda game Majora's Mask (preferably has played all the way to the end) and one person who is NOT familiar with Majora's Mask, preferably has never played it at all and knows nothing about the plot and characters.
I'm asking for pre-readers a bit ahead of time, the story is not yet finished, but it's currently being written at a good clip, so it may not be long. Finished story will be around 30k words, give or take a bit, I'm not sure. It is, obviously, a Legend of Zelda fanfic. It is not a shipfic, in fact characters other than Link do not figure much in it.
I'm looking for pre-readers mostly for consistency and clearness. I'm not asking for in depth critique or grammar nazi-ing, though if you want to give them that's fine, but mostly I'd like to just be sure that it makes *sense* to a non-game player, and that I haven't forgotten anything important or done anything stupidly wrong that would upset a game player. :) So I would be asking you to note down any areas that seem jumpy or confusing, basically. (Or that seem wrong to the game player.)
Lemme know if you're interested! I'm willing to pre-read something for you in return, or owe you a favor, or something. :)

Now with summaries!
General | Posted 13 years agoThe muse is still demanding I write more "Dark" so nothing else is likely to update for the time being, but I did go through the reading guide in my profile and put in story summaries for all the finished stuff, so that folks can decide which stories they'd like to read. If you haven't ready everything I've posted yet, check it out, see if anything grabs your attention. :)
Status update
General | Posted 14 years agoThe next chapter of The Spark to Light a Candle is, you guessed it, still at the editor. Sorry! Not much I can do about that, really. I do have the chapter after *that* nearly done, and that's about all I can do right now.
I have been doing a little writing on some other projects though, and I'm right now uploading a little drabble that I'm sure some of you will like.
Thanks for your patience, and also for all the comments, +favs, and watches, I really appreciate them! I know it takes a lot more effort to follow a writer than a visual artist, since you have to read their stuff. :)

Whining, feel free to skip
General | Posted 14 years agoEditor is still editing, sorry about that. :P Shouldn't be too much longer though.
Anyhow.
I really wonder sometimes. So many people seem to think they're leaving me compliments when they're not. "Why didn't you post this earlier?" for example. I'm sure in their little brain they're expressing how much they love the fic and thus they are impatient to read more, and it's supposed to be all happy and fluffy.
It's NOT. I already beat myself up enough about how slow I am to update, thank you very much. I do NOT need people giving me grief about it in some back-assward attempt to "compliment" me on my work. And half the time I think that they're using the "compliment" as an excuse to hide their attempts to make me feel bad for not catering to their every whim.
I have the same kind of issues over on my plush/suit account with people who say "I want this". BUY IT THEN. It's usually for sale, that's a business account, I'm there to make money. But no, of course the people who say that never have any money, they just want me to give it to them for free, that's what "want" means. Begging for free crap doesn't make me happy, and neither does implying I'm too slow, or any of that other nonsense.
Look, if you want to compliment an author, artists, craftsperson, whatever, JUST COMPLIMENT THEM. All the attempts to manipulate, guilt trip, and emotionally blackmail them are annoying and stupid and not actually nice at all. A compliment is "this is good" or "I like this" not "zomgwtfbbq111!elleventy you need to update more!" And you REALLY are not complimenting them with "This would be better with X fetish/obsession of mine included" either, btw. That's just a dick move and you should never say it.

Chapter 7!
General | Posted 14 years agoHey guys! Chapter 7 of The Spark to Light a Candle is at the editor's! He may be a day or two getting it all tidied up, but it won't be long now. Rejoice!
Yay!
General | Posted 14 years agoI finally have the ball rolling again on To Light a Candle. Chapter Seven is once again under way. Hopefully it won't bog down again until it's done.
I might have the chapter written in the next few days, I hope. *crosses fingers* Then it goes to the editor for a few days. So maybe by this time next week.

Moving
General | Posted 14 years agoIf you haven't seen my main account, I'm moving. It's rather thoroughly disrupting my life. So yeah, no new writing for a week or so at least. Sorry!
Nightmare Night and To Light a Candle
General | Posted 14 years agoI thought I'd address this briefly. The most recent episode of the official show has a very different sort of Luna from the one in my story. So what does that mean for The Spark to Light a Candle?
Well, honestly, nothing at all. The canon version of Luna doesn't suit this story at all, so I'm not going to go back and re-write it to make my Luna match up. And this story is too good to abandon just because it's no longer perfectly accurate, so I will be going ahead with it anyway.
Thank you again to all my readers, and don't worry, I am still working on the next chapter! It's just coming along slowly.

Sorry!
General | Posted 14 years agoI really want to finish this story, but that made me push ahead and write some stuff even when I wasn't in the mood, so the whole chapter is kind of a mess, and my editor is thus taking longer than usual. I think next time I'll wait until I'm in the mood, it probably won't actually take much longer.
But this is all to say that I'm sorry, but I won't have anything new to post for a day or two yet.
