Califur conbook ad space

It has to be black and white and I can't use any copyrighted examples of my work of course...and I don't know if black and white photos of my patches would look any good anyways? The spider in my logo probably wouldn't look b/w either. Of course there'd be a link to my website...wish I had a better website. :P Anybody have ANY ideas of what I should do?

So go check it out if you think you might be interested!

Yes, I can create designs of original artwork. However not just any image will work. I don't take an image, plug it into my design program, and press a magic button. No, I have to build a design with shapes and fills and lines and textures etc, so what that means is I need a very clean, FINISHED piece of art to work with. Not too many lines everywhere, and keep in mind that simpler is better. I will NOT accept sketches, nor will I "clean up" your art. Either your art will work as is or it will not. Please do not be offended if I inform you your art is not acceptable for digitising.
Yes, I can and will do many copyrighted designs, such as logos and cartoon characters. I also welcome suggestions for stuff to create to put in my shop. The Team Fortress 2 patches were a suggestion that I never would have done on my own and they are a huge seller. As is the Go Diego Go badge. So I welcome such suggestions.
Prices? That's where it gets tricky as I don't have a lot of business sense. :P Digitising will run from $10 and up depending on the complexity. The actual embroidery will vary depending on what it is. Small patches (2-4 inches) will be around $10, and it goes up from there. Shipping runs a few dollars depending on weight and where you live.
I can make patches (iron-on unless you prefer no patch backing), t-shirts, bags, aprons...whatever we can work out.

If you happen to be a person interested in getting me a present :) it should be pretty easy. I like spiders, hyenas, and parrots, and I just got a Wii so I need stuff for it. Gamewise puzzle games are best, and I already know I want all the Sam and Max games. Used is just fine. Gift cards are great, not only for game places (don't forget Dimple) but also craft places like Joann's, Hancocks, Michaels, and Meissners. And Starbucks cards are cool.
Speaking of that, if you have Facebook, you can maybe use the Starbucks app on FB to virtually buy me a drink. I'm not sure if it would work though since FB still won't let me install their apps on my end. :P

General | Posted 15 years agoToday I got a new embroidery machine. :D Not just a recreational home machine like my last one, a more professional one. Its not like a huge one or anything, it has 6 needles, but that makes it 6 times better than my old one anyways. Its this one: http://babylock.com/embroidery/embr.....fessionalplus/
I tried to finance it but I was denied, so my brother had to do it for me. :P So much fail. But I will probably be able to actually make all the payments myself, I'm making enough now with my little machine and with the new one I will only make more per month. It came with professional software too; I love Embird but this one may be a better choice.
I had to rearrange the entire apartment to make room for the machine, but I managed it. It comes with a cart so I will get the sewing machine table back for my actual sewing machine, that will be nice. I hope to move all the tarantulas to my bedroom later and put a shelving unit where their table is to keep all my crafting supplies on, and then I will be more or less organised. I'm glad that I can keep everything in the living room, the wall the machines are against is an outside wall so noise won't bother neighbors. It would have been easier to have it in my bedroom but I work late and I didn't want to disturb my neighbors on the other side of that wall. Also the parrot sleeps in my bedroom so she wouldn't have liked that, lol.
Anyways I'm sure I will post again once I've been using the machine for a bit; I had to leave it at the shop tonight so I could make room for it and will pick it up tomorrow morning.
This is all the reason I've been so busy lately, if any of my friends are wondering why I haven't been posting or anything much. I closed my Etsy shop to try to clear all my orders on the old Janome 350e in case I decided to use it as a trade-in (I decided to keep it, I may sell it later so let me know if you think you may be interested, I'm looking at charging $600-700, it comes with a lot of accessories I bought/made). So I've been working mostly nonstop for days. But I hope to go out tomorrow night for dinner with some of the Sacfurs.

It comes with a cart so I will get the sewing machine table back for my actual sewing machine, that will be nice. I hope to move all the tarantulas to my bedroom later and put a shelving unit where their table is to keep all my crafting supplies on, and then I will be more or less organised. I'm glad that I can keep everything in the living room, the wall the machines are against is an outside wall so noise won't bother neighbors. It would have been easier to have it in my bedroom but I work late and I didn't want to disturb my neighbors on the other side of that wall. Also the parrot sleeps in my bedroom so she wouldn't have liked that, lol.
Anyways I'm sure I will post again once I've been using the machine for a bit; I had to leave it at the shop tonight so I could make room for it and will pick it up tomorrow morning.
This is all the reason I've been so busy lately, if any of my friends are wondering why I haven't been posting or anything much. I closed my Etsy shop to try to clear all my orders on the old Janome 350e in case I decided to use it as a trade-in (I decided to keep it, I may sell it later so let me know if you think you may be interested, I'm looking at charging $600-700, it comes with a lot of accessories I bought/made). So I've been working mostly nonstop for days. But I hope to go out tomorrow night for dinner with some of the Sacfurs.

Pounced Fail
General | Posted 15 years agoI made a Pounced account and tried to post an ad (a bunch of times) and all it does is lose all my settings and yell "Invalid Ad ID" at me in huge red block letters. I've tried everything, Pounced hates meh. ;n;

General | Posted 15 years agoI'm trying to make a more unique fursona (I won't drop Sparky entirely or anything, she's just me as a hyena, but I want a more...separate fursona). I want to keep the blue hyena but merge it with a hyacinth macaw to make a griffin BUT I CAN'T DRAW IT. >:[ Why must I fail so. I guess I'll have to commission someone, but I'd like to at least start with some sketches on my end...maybe I just have artist's block tonight. probably because I'm broke. Being broke does stupid things like that to my brain.
Also I figured out my taxes and I owe $45 but being broke I can't actually pay it. Ffff.

General | Posted 15 years agoSo I have my own business now and therefore need to pay taxes. And I thought I did last month when I sent in my estimated taxes for the quarter. But it turns out that's not the whole story, I also have to file twice yearly with the Board of Equalization. Its due the 31st but I can't work on it because the site where I do my finances is down. :/ BE YOUR OWN BOSS KIDS, ITS FUN.

General | Posted 15 years agoMy fursuit is about done, I poured the latex for the nose (either it turns out or I just do a fabric nose), but the biggest stumbling block I have is the hands. I'm trying to do big mole hands/claws but I can't get anything to come out well. I think I've made 4 pairs of failed hands so far. If I could only get some decent hands I could be wearing this suit within a day or two. It ticks me off. -_- I'd commission someone else to do it but I don't have the money or know who could anyways, I've never seen hands like what I have in mind out there.

General | Posted 15 years agoSorry to those waiting on the free commissions; you probably knew when you signed up that as your commissions are free that you'd take backseat to anything paid that came along. ;) So yes I have been busy with paid orders as well as my first fursuit, which I'm kind of impatient to get done. I broke the bank buying the supplies so I have no excuse not to work on it; also, I just plain want a suit! :P So, just fyi. :)

I want to branch out into more furry-specific custom machine embroidery, but I need a 'portfolio' of sorts, samples to show off to attract customers. To that end, I need people to let me use their art or commissioned pieces to make embroidered patches, conbadges etc from. In exchange you will get the actual embroidered samples for free (I will not sell or distribute copies to other people, they are just to show off).
What I need is colored linework, something I can work with. More cartoony-type stuff only. Shading and highlighting is fine, but excessively complex linework is beyond my scope to duplicate. For patches it needs to be a freestanding character or drawing that can have a solid thick line all around, but for stuff stitched on things it doesn't have to have a line all round. If...that makes sense. If your art has a background and you just want the character its fine, or if there's art you want but you just plain don't want some detail or another, just let me know what you're thinking of.
Contact me with links to art you think might work and let me know what you want (patch, conbadge, t-shirt etc) and what size you're thinking you want it. My max hoop goes to 5.5" by 7.9".

General | Posted 16 years agoSo I'm watching this program called 1,000 Ways To Die on Spike TV, the episode is called "Death Over Easy"and one of the segments is about a guy tripping on shrooms in the desert coming across a furpile around a campfire. After being refused by a few of the furries he tries to hump a real bear nearby and is killed. The segment includes a guy identified as a furry wearing a bad Winnie the Pooh costume explaining how furries are people who dress like animals and have sex. Nothing else, that's what furries ARE.
I keep hearing about bad press for furries but this is the first actual thing I've seen on TV. :/
You know, there ARE some Trekkies who dress as the characters/alien races just to get together to have sex. How come that's not the image everyone has of Trekkies? Not saying I wish it was, I just don't get it.

General | Posted 16 years agoI'm going, but it looks like only for one day (don't know which day yet). My brother and I have wanted to take a trip to San Jose for a while now to see the museums anyways, so since Wondercon is in April instead of February we can do SJ in January. So like one day I'll do the Con (while he finds something else to do, he's not a furry) and then the other day we do stuff together. If anybody thinks I should do the Con on a particular day let me know, I don't know what day would be best. This will be my absolute first Furry event, ever.
