I really should use this more, I know a lot of you still do :)
Well, all I got so far is I'll be at BLFC and MFF this year.
Spazz underwent a small marking change (idk, I shed or molted or something, I don't know how this works), but I'm really happy with it. As a result of course, that means I'll need a new fursuit ;) Sooo I mean, stay tuned for that too!

Also - just to clarify, especially for new or prospective fursuiters: I would NEVER (nor should you) behave like this in fursuit with a child that wasn't my own. Even that not withstanding, I also have a good grasp on how he reacts to fursuits. I speak more to the behaviour of hand grasping, dancing with him by picking him up and approaching him rather than patiently waiting for him to approach on his own.

MWFF 2012 - SHORT ANSWER.

I can never describe with words how I felt being there. My heart aches to be back with my friends - you know who you are.
Seriously though - I couldn't believe how many friends I made right on the first day. Some strong relationships were forged - the caveat to that being that now I will always miss these people so hard when I'm not around them.
I remained in fursuit for a lot of the con - I was happiest when all I could see were smiles. Actually... I don't really remember anyone not smiling. Even security after yelling at me for standing on the escalator railings on the way down couldn't help smiling and hugging me afterwards. *giggle*
Anyway - no personal shout outs. I can't. Too many of you are special to me. You already know who you are anyway. *hugs*
See you at FCN 2013. *wink*

Only a few outings planned. Gonna TRY sushi to see if I like it, that might be at the hotel... Possibly hit up some other places around the hotel. (there aren't many).

Anyway, the purpose of this journal is to thank each and every one of you who sent me a mention on Twitter or sent a watch or comment my way here on FA! The outpouring of positive feedback from you fluffbutts was overwhelming to say the least, and I couldn't possibly keep up replying to everyone who was throwing friendly words of encouragement my way.
You're all the reason I do this. You all keep me an 11 out of 10 on the cheerful scale. I wouldn't feel right without letting you guys and gals know how you make me feel.
Here's hoping I get to meet as many of you as possible in the coming months!

My journey into the furry fandom...

My journey into the furry fandom.
When I was in my early teens, 15ish, we didn't have Internet - although it began to exist, most of our online connections were through BBS's which you had to dial through a modem. I think at the time I had a 9600 baud external modem which was the size of brick. Anyway, somewhere along my journey of BBSing and online RPGs I found furry art -- probably porn if it held my interest so well at that age! Either way, I discovered the fandom and cartoon art, but not so much other furries. Message boards were slow and crappy back then, I never got into them, but I knew what furries were, I knew what the fandom was about, and I blissfully continued my online furry dealings without every thinking much about it, or labeling myself a furry. I had a fox fursona then as I do now. My character then was the same as he is now, albeit less cynical, and maybe a TAD nicer.
I never "quit" or "left" the fandom. I never thought of it back then as a club to have to state such a thing. What happened was around 17 years old, I lost interest. I just, without thinking about it, became immersed in my own world with high school, friends, work, life... I completely forgot about furries and the fandom as an entity. My personality never changed -- I still loved cartoonish drawings and all that stuff -- but I stopped seeking any furry associated art or stuff online. Again, not a conscious choice. It just happened... And it stayed like that for many years. I went on to achieve my career goals, I got married, bought a house -- all the fantastic grown up stuff.
I remembered thinking about furries at one juncture about 13 years after forgetting about the fandom. That was while watching CSI - Fur and Loathing. My spouse and I giggled at it, I casually explained "I don't think they do that stuff for the most part", but no other comment was made. I gave it no further thought. I wasn't a furry anymore, no big deal.
So... We come to now. Why am I here now? What happened to bring me back?
I have a twitter account. Not the one you all know so well, but a "people/human" account (they're so silly those humans). I rarely use it, I think I have a whopping 40 followers on it, but I did post occasionally to keep in contact with a few people I know.
One day, I believe in October of 2011, now at 32 years of age, while performing a keyword search on twitter using that account (I don't remember what it was for, but it had nothing to do with furries), the first tweet that appeared in my search was one written by a fox with an adorable icon. VermyFox to be exact. I was intrigued. I thought "Hey, it's a furry! Guess furries are on Twitter... That makes sense I suppose". I scrolled through some of Vermy's timeline and was further intrigued as to how my furry fox character from my teenage years was so similar in behavior - friendly to everyone, outgoing, slightly insane, but adorable!
I couldn't get this out of my head. I went days thinking about how furries were on Twitter. What had I been missing... What were things like now? A week or more passed... I decided to open a second Twitter account. I immediately followed VermyFox and several other furries. I...I was astounded by how friendly everyone was. How quickly I made so many friends and gained so many followers. I found FA and became immersed in the art - but unlike my teenage years, my interest fell mostly on the clean cartoony SFW cute stuff! I commissioned an artist to draw my character again. And then another artist, and another... I became fully engrossed with the furry hobby again. I found a world that existed like it never had before.
This is all well and good, but there was my spouse who now kept hearing about furry things. Initially she thought maybe I was poking fun at the fandom, but one day it dawned on her and she said something along the lines of "Oh my God. This isn't a joke. You're... You're one of them aren't you"? I told her the truth. I had to. She was angry, thinking perhaps I hid this from her for years. Truth be told, I had never brought up the fandom with her in regards to my teenage years because I thought it had passed and was over with.
This part I'll shorten: It was a rough couple of weeks, but she accepts furry as part of who I am.
This time around, furry infected me like never before - anyone who follows me on Twitter knows that. I enjoy my interactions with you all and the feedback I get from it is fantastic. <3 More so than social media, I developed a strong desire to fursuit, which I never had before. A lot of you already know I commissioned a suit from MFY, and I'll be suiting at MFF - and hopefully meeting a lot of you!
Anyway, in conclusion, this is all VermyFox's fault.

That being said, I need to share this everywhere with everyone!
My character, Spazz, is set in motion to come alive... I've always expressed myself on twitter, but this was never enough. I want to make people laugh, smile, and love being furry as much as I do. The urge for this has been strong for a long while and I've always known what I had to do - but it was a long process. First convincing my family to be ok with it. It took some time just to have the thought of me being part of the fandom to be accepted, but this... this was something else. Nonetheless, the green light was given, accepted, and is somewhat the butt of funny good-natured jokes at my expense - which is fine by me... because Spazz is about to become more real than ever....
