General | Posted 8 years agoSo, before Tadashi made his way to me, the design was up for auction from Coffee-mutt and someone else AB'd.

TL;DR of it is the would-be buyer is seemingly very young and lied about having sent the money for the adopt, then decided to essentially throw a tantrum about Coffee actually asking them to confirm payment when it never went through. I'll get into why this is relevant later.
First though, I'll explain the importance of these snail designs for me. My family has had a... tradition I guess you would call it? Where we take the initials of our names and add letters (without rearranging those 3 particular letters) to create an animal. That animal would kinda become our symbol. Prior to transitioning, my initials were SNL. So naturally, SNaiL. I had so much snail-related items growing up. Decorations, bags, clothes. My grandma, the woman who is probably more important to me than anyone else, who's saved my life more than once, would gather up as much snail stuff as she could. This may sound stupid, but that's one of the few aspects of who I was that I don't want to give up and forget about. So because of that, I've been looking at Coffee's snails since she put up the first one, PB.
Back to what happened with the would-be owner, though. This realization happened when I was running on 4 hours of sleep and had been awake for 13 hours since that (I tend to get really philosophical when I'm tired like that). Not only is this snail design FANTASTIC and I love him, the aquatic theme combined with what happened makes Tadashi even more special to me. See, I love fish. I've had probably 40 fish and I'm not even 21 yet. My last fish, who was a beautiful betta that I loved, died due to someone else's carelessness. He became incredibly malnourished and no matter how much we tried to nurse him back to health, it still ended up killing him. I feel like that may have something to do with why I'm feeling a bit protective over this design and plan to spoil him.
So yea. I know I may not be the best with words, and I know this probably doesn't really matter to anyone, but I figured I should put it somewhere at least,
