^u^ I'm going to have a silly event this evening wherein I drink something new to me from Stone Brewery that I'm excited for, an unfiltered DOUBLE IPA (one of my favorite kinds of firewater) appropriately titled "Ruination".

Since I'm such a lightweight, the two little bottles I have here of this powerful stuff will get me right into the zone where I'm, uh, under influence but still capable of basic motor functions and (silly) thought. During this time I would love to receive random suggestions and requests from y'all on what to attempt to draw.

And exercise in showing that drugs and alcohol are NOT what inspires the best art. XD But the art that does come from such things is... entertaining to laugh at. And an excuse to try this new beer in a social setting (I make it a policy to not get truly drunk while alone and because this beer is stronger than I'm used to... welp I need some Internet people to supervise the snek).

^u^ A little warning I still have boundaries even tipsy. I will ignore inappropriate requests... or well I will be drunk so I may admittedly call them out instead. XD

^u^; Hello all. Things have been busy, rife with trouble, with some ups and downs both.

I guess most of all I would like to apologize to people expecting me to get back on the non-fatal vore work. I must say, the possibility of my ever being comfortable making that kind of work ever again is scant to none. Especially not for other people.

Over the years I've had time and time again where it felt like people contacting me for that stuff were edging ever closer and closer to trying to find a "loophole" in my boundaries, and that's not counting the several times where I was contacted by strangers who seemed keen to play along with my boundaries only to try and get something "ambiguous enough" out of me to cross those boundaries. I even saw two or three cases in which that exact thing happened--a well-known non-fatal-only vore artist was commissioned, and the commissioner on reposting tagged it up and down with fatal terminology and story, completely disregarding the artist's boundaries. Even going so far as to track down the original posts on Eka's and adding "digestion" and "fatal" tags to it. That was petrifying to see as the notion of fatality in vore I believe is one of the things that causes my anxiety disorder and my PTSD to flare up. And I wasn't having it. It got frustrating and emotionally trying to the point where being asked to work on stuff I was formerly very keen on was nerve-wracking and tripping my anxieties. I wish beyond wish that it didn't do that, and that it didn't work this way. I really wish I could feel comfortable with this because truth is I still love endosoma. I'm just emotionally barred from it due to the emotional health risks coming from the small but insidious underbelly (pun not intended, but kind of hilarious) in the vore art community.

Aside from that... I really do want my work to stand alone for its own merits, not to only be enjoyed because some people take it as wank material (or... emotional wank material? I guess so, for those who enjoy it non-sexually). I don't want my work to be defined by a super-niche fetish to the point that people ask for nothing else, know me for nothing else, and basically just get surrounded by folks who are simply waiting for me to crank out more of the same. This revelation will probably upset the few who are only here for that purpose, and honestly I don't care if those types take off. The people who like my art, fetishy or not, will stick around. Or at least I hope they will because that's another fear I have--that the only reason people even bother to contact me on this site at all is that they're... hoping I crank out more of their wank material.

If it ever happens that I get the fortitude to work on my own fetish-related material again, please understand that it'll likely remain in the realm of personal art and no commissions or art trades should involve it. If I get pressured towards it again that gate will slam shut. I consider it a bit of social respect that I should be entitled to, to be allowed to have this boundary between what I'm personally comfortable with, and what I'm comfortable keeping in the realm of commissioned work.

My accounts are really short so I have reopened commissions to people in an effort to help support myself, but admittedly I have done so with some fear of people swarming me for fetish material again. This has proven to be absolutely what has happened so I am a bit emotionally compromised from it. Nevertheless, I still need the work in order to afford student loan payments and groceries to survive. Mental health shouldn't take a backseat, but it currently is. I have tried to be clear on my new commission sheet that fetish material is out, but I guess the damage was already done. To most people I am not Spider, I am "Spider that vore artist", and my actual artistic range suffers for it. I long for work, for interesting material to work on, for new characters to draw and pose and involve in scenery and art, and having a new response that isn't hinged on demands for kink would be so gratifying. But it's still far from happening, so I guess I have some PR to do.

I hope you all are doing alright. The holidays are abound and I'm trying to keep in a good spirit and continue self-care and intrinsic motivation every day. Hoping you all are doing better on that front and finding joy! ^^; I'm going to be online trying to psyche myself up while supper's going.

I have two whole large shelves of Ganoderma applanatum, which is useful for medicinal teas and tinctures but also people like them for display and for etching scrimshaw purposes. Each is 7 inches wide, tough woody and predried, fresh from this year's growth and about $10.00 each.

I'm also interested in knowing if anyone would be interested in whole dried Scaly Hedgehog mushroom, a nutty and choice edible? I'm keeping them in sealed glass containers post-drying so they'll be good for six months. I've got about three ounces dried volume (which rehydrates to about half a pound) so I'd be looking at roughly $14.00 USD for them.

Also interested in knowing if anyone would want me to go hunting specifically for any types of mushrooms this autumn and winter in order to preserve and offer for sale? Any common North American species is good suggestion for me--I'm eager to go on a search on my acres and in the neighboring National Forest. Medicinals would be especially good for this, as they tend to preserve better than plain edibles. Medicinal plants are also good to suggest--the woods are rife with many species and I'm pretty well-versed in about thirty species' proper usage.

It's an odd thing to bring up on an art site, but health is a pretty important thing. And food. Both things.

I'm also getting weirdly excited for Halloween. ^u^ Hoping I'll have an event I can go to this year, or maybe a home party, something I can get costumed up for. I have ideas. For a bad long while I got self-loathed on certain topics and refused to work on them for most of that, helped in some part by a stream of strange note commentary on it that seemed intentionally targeted from one or a few people under alias accounts. I got convinced that there was no possibility that my own work and my own preferences worked into it would be respected. I'm sort of over that now since I've realized there will be no stopping the trollish of the world other than to report them and focus on my own feelings on the stuff I make for art 'n' fun.

I have a tiny-sized backlog to post a bit of, and since it's been a long time since anything like it has shown up on my gallery pages I figured I would warn everyone who watched me after it stopped being posted. It's endosoma and vore and sometimes it is smutty in nature, so you know. ^^; I suffer from PTSD being triggered by types of content fairly common on this site, so I wanted to put up a warning in enough time that anyone who is potentially triggered by that and similar topics could decide on a course of action and take care of themselves.

Just an extra "yield" sign gettin' posted up as well to people who are more than cool with that stuff coming back--I'm not interested in taking commissions on the topic still, don't know if and when that will change, just not emotionally able to do that at this time since I'm only just now working up to making new of my own ideas. ^^;

It also has the coolest artwork on the label: a chill-looking skeleton dude in a forest service hat and tropical-styled shirt and goggles. Voodoo Ranger.

Hence why I am now drawing a cartoon illustrating exactly what environmental service the "Voodoo Ranger" is responsible for. eue It silly. You get the idea.

I'm hype for the spring mushroom hunting season already... so I'm going ahead and making some illustrated arty guides to identifying some of my target fungi species. Most of these will be whole sheets filled with various sketches and figures of mushrooms and fungal features in stages of growth, and I'd be chuffed if these not only helped myself but others interested in finding beautiful 'shrooms.

If anyone has any ideas for species to put a spotlight on let me know and I'll make an I.D sketchpage for you. ^^ Who knows, I'll probably end up making a round of paintings and other more artistic renditions of my faves (morels, morels, morels, morels, boletes, boletes, boletes, boletes~).

Fellow mycophiles and myco-curious, have y been finding some nice ones yet? Only February but the fungi definitely do not stop for snow, wind, ice, or anything. XD

:V Okay, so, roughly 30% of people who have been downloading my game have been getting back to me about not being able to play the game from this RTP error. I've been researching how to fix it and it seems like it's a common problem in RPGMaker games due to their general use of an RTP system of data.

First of all, if you've had these errors--MAKE ABSOLUTELY SURE that you have unzipped the .zip file you downloaded! A program like WinZip is easy to find and most computers that use Windows OS should already have a version of it. If you try to run the .exe with all the files still compressed the game will not work because the RTP files are still counted as being compressed--"in storage", if ya will--and it won't be able to find the game's graphics, sound, and music. Make certain this isn't the reason the game is being bunk! 8O

Also, to make sure this is the source of the error messages, can I have confirmation from others who have been able to run the game so far? Because that would solidify that I have indeed fixed the issue of the missing RTP files from before... TwT Technology~

It's literally ONE last bug test run-through away from being completed..!

Writing up a little read.me for it now to prep it for downloadin' to the public. XD It's pretty much 1/3 visual novel already, so I was thinking of making some similar, short story-centric games in the future after getting an updated version of the RPGMaker. >u<; My ole cruddy version can only do so much in terms of art and effects!

The thing I'm proudest of, after storytelling and artwork involved... is sound. I'm super grateful to the several sound effect sources offering noises for just the reward of a mention in credits. XD (So many great free things--it's a wonder anyone ever steals things like this!) I couldn't have made the vore part or the ending sections at all without the sound effects available.

Misgendered by a commissioner on DA? Yep... happened to me. Right after I gave them permission to use my work for them as a base for another drawing of theirs.

I know it's a common mistake to make, but I've practically plastered my profile over there with references to non-binary and "My pronouns are they-them-theirs! ^u^" stamps, have had stuff like that there for multiple years... so it feels like more than a common mistake to me at this point. It feels more like this person is just one of those so adamant on forced binary gender bs that they refuse to even offer an extra letter in the pronouns of someone who's literally just performed a service for them, and gave them extra liberties on top of that.

I try not to be public when I correct people, on the very likely chance that it's a common mistake, but being "she'd" still REALLY hurts me emotionally, sets off my anxiety like a bitch, makes me doubt myself so damn much... being "he'd" does a lesser version and I've started to learn to laugh that off (probably a bad thing in the long run--trying to "tough out" gender dysphoria is a bad idea and never works), but at least culturally most people behave as if "he/him/his" is a default so it's most definitely not malicious when I find it happening. Unless you cover yourself in pink (and don't parade a ton of femboy paraphernalia in tandem) most people automatically assume you're a guy if they're unaware of non-binary genders. It doesn't hurt like being called a she.

I started acting out against my birth gender assignment pretty much as soon as I could talk and understand what all the coded words, behaviors, and clothing meant. It's not as if I've only recently discovered this--just only in the past five years learned the word that meant it. I've been refusing dresses and dolls, blatantly declaring I'm a "not-a-girl" since age five or six. I know what I feel about my own identity.

I live in a rural area in the south where most people still know me as "Julia". What hurts is I love the name "Julia"--but I HATE what it causes people to assume, just because it's a name traditionally given to women. It's why I chose Spider as my real name--the Spider is frequently misunderstood, and is an alert, active creature. A creature that creates things for myriad purposes and is often given the role of Storyteller in many cultures. Spider has no gender associations--in English it's just a word (though on those asinine baby-naming websites, "Spider" and its various permutations are now designated a boys' name... le sigh). I chose it SPECIFICALLY because I felt most people would not be able to assume the person who owned that name would be either man or woman. Unlike Taylors and Kims (where they are gender-nuetral names, but nowadays lots of people think of them as either way), Spider is something all its own separated from the BS we often have to wade through in order to just be mildly respected. Spider is a name chosen for how it relates to its owners' personality and ambitions, not for how it relates to coersively-assigned conceptions of the owners' gender.

Don't even argue the genitals and chromosomes business--genitals aren't necessary for 99% of normal social interactions so they matter zero to how someone respects your preferred pronouns, and chromosomes are even less important. I'm talking pure social interaction--if someone meets me, I expect them to refer to me as "they/them/their", to correct themselves quickly and without an overreaction if they slip up, and to calmly and briefly apologize if they do it unknowing and are corrected by myself (which certainly happens and I forgive everyone that's done that instantly ^^). I don't expect better treatment--I just ask that maybe people keep an open mind to new ideas and make the same effort to recognize me as they would anyone of a binary gender.

YES, to some degree I am asking people to learn--no, you don't have to look up encyclopedias of gender research terminology or know what any of the newfangled words mean, but I at least expect people to learn to use a common English pronoun (in my case, one people already know about and use on a daily basis) and to not throw slurs at me... well, I consider intentionally using the wrong pronoun to be a passive-aggressive type of slur anyways, so basically all I ask is respect.

The reason I'm putting this here is because... I have to put it somewhere. And on reviewing what I know of this person's political leanings... I find it unlikely that they'll find it in themselves to respect me out of simple respect, against their inner beliefs, so I'm no longer going to do further business with them. I could try to explain the situation but... honestly I really don't feel like getting into an argument with someone so diametrically opposed to me.
