Raising for cat recovery. All commissions and YCHs open.
General | Posted 9 years agoSo for anyone looking at my work, I am open for doing tons of commissions and please expect to see more YCHs here in the future. Please post any suggestions you have for poses and ideas and make shout outs if you feel like it.
A little over a week ago, my newest rescue Cassatt (the tuxedo) got very sick. While a friend was visiting for the weekend, she started throwing up uncontrollably every half hour to forty five minutes. An emergency vet visit got me some anti-nausea medicine that proved ineffectual and the next morning kitty was in the hospital. As I know many pet owners who read this are aware, we were never really quite sure why she got so violently ill. They insisted for a while that there was a bowel obstruction, but she is an indoor only cat and I am pretty good at keeping hazardous materials away from my furbabies. Also the x-rays and blood tests really yielded nothing. Their best guess is that it was some nasty stomach bug...that nearly killed her. With the help of IV fluids and a lot of other concoctions, Cassatt has seemed to bounce right back. The only way you can tell she was ever sick was the fact that they shaved her front leg for the IVs. Words cannot describe how relieved I am to have Cassatt back with me, healthy and playful again.
She is a very young cat that had just turned about a year old a few months ago. I found her outside my old apartment going door to door crying for someone to let her in. (Yes, she was literally doing this.) She was also a HOT mess. She has intestinal parasites, fleas, a mild heart murmur, and was pregnant. The one saving grace she had was negative for Feline Leukemia, so I was able to keep her. For a cat that probably never had a home, she is sooooo friendly and a big smoocher. I need to get a good video of her sometime doing one of her intense cleaning routines on my head. She is nothing if not thorough.
Long story short, all the tests, medications, and hospital stay really added up. (I don't feel comfortable revealing specifics, but it was over 1,000.) I was able to open a care account that allows me to pay off the vet bill in six months without interest, but I know that I won't make it on my work pay alone and I am royally screwed if she or my other cats gets sick again. So please support my work if you can, when you can. The support that had already come in has been profound and really touching. You guys rock.

FINALLY Back!
General | Posted 9 years agoA big thanks to everyone who waited and for not removing me from your watch list! (I see I actually gained a few people while I was away as well! )
So I am mostly settled into my new home; unfortunately, it is with a very iffy connection that apparently requires extra work that will NOT be done till the end of this month. So I will see how long this lasts. In the meantime, I am going to try and post some new stuffs! I did really fun fanart with my good friends
sapphiredragonstudios and (of course)
robo-shark.
We did some collaborative work where we constructed a pokemon team based on our fursonnas! It was sooo much fun that I think it is something I would love to do as a commission or art trade in the future. So stay tuned!

Moving! @_@
General | Posted 9 years agoSooooo some people might have noticed my current lack of activity. Well, my life has been a little crazy at the moment due to the fact that I got a new shiny job that I need to relocate for and I need to haul my booty fast because not only do I start at the beginning of next month, I will be also going soon after on a pre-planned vacation and need someone to care for my babies. I keep wanting to submit something new, but it seems everytime I sit down at the computer I am all like: "I SHOULD BE RESEARCHING ALL THE THINGS ABOUT THE NEW AREA!!! NO TIME FOR DOODLING!!!"
Soooo I might post a drawing or too after I finalize an application, but for the most part, you won't here much from me for awhile and I will probably recommence regular finished illustrations around the end of July. Please be patient, everyone who watches me is so awesome! Special shout out to my bro,
idolomantis who always makes a point to comment on my work! You are awesome!

General | Posted 9 years agoSooo one of the downsides to being an artist is you have a habit of acquiring a lot o' shiz. Be it art supplies or artistic inspirations. Sooooo I figured since I have a relatively active fanbase, I would sell yo you guys first, before I move on to ebay. There will be a link of photos provided shortly, I just want to get this posted ASAP.
Shipping is NOT included in price. I have a few flat rate boxes, so at least with the manga it will only be about $20.00. I would ideally like US buyers only simply because I know shipping out of country can be super pricey, but if someone really wants my stuff, I don't want to deny them. This is a first come, first serve thing. I expect payment upfront.
So here is what I am selling:
Full Metal Alchemist Manga Vol. 1-22: $80.00
All of them are in perfect condition, except for volume 13, which got a light spill of coffee or tea on it (I was not the original owner of that one), BUT all the pages open fine and everything is totally readable. Volume 1-3 are the shiny editions/they have a holo cover. I don't know if that means anything, but I figured it was worth mentioning.
Bleach Manga Boxset Vol. 1-21 + individual books 22-31: $80.00
All have been read through, but are in perfect condition. Packaging is only lightly worn around the edges.
Ghost in Shell Anime Stand Alone Complex AND Second Gig boxsets: $100.00
Once again, outside packaging is a little worn, but all dvds are in brand new condition! (I never even watched the darn things, and honestly, I don't think the guy I got them from ever watched them either!)
Monty Python's Flying Circus complete boxset: $40.00
This is from the original show (not the movies) and has every single episode plus bonus features. Same dealio as before, dvds in great shape, the box has had a particularly rough life.
Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils 120 + 3 more + 2 colored pencils sticks: $100.00
So this was one of those things they made me buy in art school then after I graduated I thought maybe I would surely use again...and didn't. Soooooo these guys are for sale! Yes some of them have are an inch shorter than their peers, but none are nubs. If you are a traditional artist, these guys are the BEST pencils you can get your hands on!
I also have some stuff I made for sale, but I will wait to post the listings till I get the photos up! Thank you for looking! All money made through here will be going towards paying bills while I am on my first vacation in YEARS! YAAAAAAAY!

Requests for new MLP character art!
General | Posted 9 years agoI am taking a break from doing my eeveelution series to celebrate the start of the new season of My Little Pony! I have been a long time fan of the show and want to do a few new fanarts for it. These will be mixed in with some old pony art I did on DA a few years ago and still am pretty fond of!
Sooooo my main question is this: out of all the new characters introduced this season and the previous, which ones would you like me to draw? I really want to do one of Starlight Glimmer, but I love suggestions! Also, tell me what you think about the latest season's beginnings? What about the super baby?

St. Patty Memories (Share yours!)
General | Posted 9 years agoSince I am not much of a drinker, I probably don't have as many crazy memories of this day as some people, but I thought it would be fun to share some of the nostalgia it has for me. It is pretty minimal, though. Heck, I still haven't drank a green beer! (I am sure they don't taste much different from a regular Guinness, but still!)
One memory that really stands out for me, was in grade school. They tried to make it interesting, but let's face it, for a kid St. Patrick's Day will never hold up to Valentine's, Christmas, Halloween...because there is always a severe lack of candy! We went out for recess and when we came back, there was gold glitter on the floor and they told us a Leprechaun had visited us and gave us some chocolate coins. I remember thinking, "What a dope! You dump glitter on the floor, give me like, FIVE coins, and expect me to get excited! The Easter Bunny is WAY cooler than you will EVER be!" In hind sight, I am sure Mrs. Jones was thrilled at the thought of all the glitter traveling everywhere in the classroom. Vacuuming glitter up can be the worst.
The only other real memory I have (and I know robo-shark can relate with this). Is that where I went to college, was in a place where the day was kinda a big deal. In the sense that there were people flocking into the downtown area to get completely sloshed. So unless you wanted to be constantly avoiding vomit puddles, you stayed INSIDE. Which I did. Every year. Gooooood times!
Not really much more than that, I actually kinda wanted to hear other people's memories! I bet you guys have some really great stories!

Shingles, apparently it isn't just for old people! :D
General | Posted 10 years agoSooo I guess the main reason for this post is reason of this post is to serve as a PSA to other artists and young, stressed independents. At the beginning of this year, I contracted shingles and would probably would have suffered less if I knew what I am going to share with you now. If you care, read on.
What is it: Shingles is basically the dormant Chicken Pox virus that lives inside your body. If you had chicken pox at anytime during your life, once that phase is over, you are susceptible to getting Shingles. Like chicken pox, it attacks your nervous system and can cause severe pain. It can show up as a series of red bumps following a main nerve anywhere on your body (mine showed up in a very common area: from the back of the shoulder, below the armpit, and then stopping underneath the side of my chest). It usually takes at least a week or more to heal and feels like a really bad sunburn to just a continuous feeling of stabbing needles and fiery pain. It is treated with anit-viral meds (if caught soon enough) and with pain meds.
Who is at risk: Mostly the elderly because nothing works as well as it used to. >.< Buuuuuuut you can susceptible to it from anything that can compromise your immune system. Including stress. So for all of my fellow artists who went to art school and routinely stress about student loans, take care of yourself! It is okay to take a day off, treat yourself, and seek help. I actually got some relief from refinancing my student loans (please message me if you want any tips!).
My symptoms: Okay, so THIS is the main reason for my post. The signature rash did not show up for about five days after my symptoms started, so I was forced to endure the full length and couldn't take the anti-viral meds (You need to take them within the first 48 hours). It started at my back shoulder and at first I thought it was a pinched nerve or a pulled muscle. I had some friends massage the area a few times and at first it felt better but, the difference is, it came back EVERY time. I tried hot and cold compresses and all sorts of stuff for joint relief. Nothing worked, which naturally now makes a LOT of sense. When the red bumps showed up I thought it was an allergic reaction. It didn't hurt at first and I thought it was due to a new bra I got. Over time, they spread along the path I previously mentioned and began to sting. That was when I really researched and figured it out.
In the end: It really sucked. I couldn't get on the anti-virals and was given a pain med that reacted poorly to medication I routinely take. (That is another story for another time.) It is rough out there for us millennials as we live in a world that really gave us the short end of the stick and don't understand why we aren't at a point in our lives that everyone else was "at our age."
I would like to extend a personal thank you to the_lost_one , tjamanarlong , and the_char_char for being my awesome first commissioners here. The money you guys have given me is going to help me pay for the Shingles vaccine I now have to buy. FYI, once you contract shingles, you are much more likely to get it again. Hence, I need to get the vaccine; BUT I am not even close to 60 sooooooo my insurance doesn't cover the cost. I get to pay $200 myself! (This is ANOTHER reason I post this, please don't let this happen to you!)
Thank you for listening to tonight's PSA! Don't forget to spay and neuter your pets, and goodnight!

First post!
General | Posted 10 years agoSo journals are always an imposing sort of thing to me, especially on places like this, because I prefer my artwork to do most of the talking. Also, I have had past experiences dating all the way back to livejournal (see how many of you know what THAT is) where I've poured my heart out and really only gotten responses from the friends that have talked to me directly. HOWEVER: robo-shark told me now a lot of people on this particular site are actually genuinely interested in the people and the creative, original characters they create; which I think is really cool!
I was on DA for awhile and knew that there fanart reigns supreme, so I created a lot of mlp art. I have my own style and got kinda booed and denied from a lot of groups for not using "show accurate colors" and "show accurate art." WHAT IS THE POINT OF MAKING SOMETHING NEW IF IT LOOKS JUST LIKE THE SHOW?! There were people that were supportive of my stuff (I even had Peter New, the voice of Big Mac, put my art on his facebook profile page!), but there was also the issue of DA stealing people's art and putting it on merch without permission or artist profit that really grossed me out. So here I am!
So as a lot of you know, I like drawing Baby Fur art! Mainly because I like drawing cute things and prefer to usually take a more innocent side to my art. That doesn't mean I don't like drawing nudity, I guess I could say that I see nudity in a very European fashion in that I find it very natural, beautiful, and non-offensive. I know that a lot of people don't feel that way, which is why I pose this question: I have some adult characters I have come up with (a manticore and a sphinx) that I would like to post here. I kinda planned them to be a couple doing coupley things that might contain nudity, but no outright explicit scenes. Should I create a separate account for such characters? I also want to do fight scenes because they are artistically challenging, but I am also not into excessive gore. Should that also be on a separate account or can I just keep it all here under different folders?
If you have read this far, thank you! And your feedback would be greatly appreciated!
