My dilemma is that for the first time EVER I feel good doing commissions. My current hourly rate ($20-$25/hr depending on project)
motivates me to focus in on a specific project, and I meticolously clock myself for actually progressing the piece. Like $75 for a inked piece with details and/or rudimentary shading seems to be agreeable, but more than a few have simply commented like "huh...... that's kind of weird."

(side rant: even though I round down and shave hours off the total literally all the time because sometimes i mess up or something!!)

I've never been as consistent and happy with my commission work before but maybe I could use some help with like a "sheet-complicit" method of doing commissions. If I advertise an inked piece for $75 and spent 6 hours on it just by the nature of the client's wishes I'm just gonna hate the job, hate myself, get pissy with the client most likely and then shut down for 8 fuckin' years to "SOUL SEARCH" ;w;

I’m getting older, i hate it, whatever.

I enjoy having furry friends a lot, I have always seen myself as a collaborator and as someone who loves to stoke creativity amongst my peers/friends in a jack-of-all-trades sort of way.

Lately I’ve interacted with a few who are dead-ass artists, far more skilled than me, and while Ive received genuinely a lot of joy bonding over tropes, TF’s, non-furry media we enjoy, I’ve noticed something that is making it hard to respond to incoming messages and rubbing me off the wrong way.

Essentially, These users simply don’t care about anything that doesn't involve them, or specifically, their OC’s. Yeah, I drew fan art for them and they loved it, super fun, but once that was over? I felt kicked to the curb.
I’d want to share something I drew and their response would be like “AWESOME is it of (my character)??”
“ Well, no, it’s of me!”
“Oh.”

“Cool.”

So like obviously that’s not a great look, not very uhhhhh considerate of lil’ ol me, but what freaks me out is… this is 2 separate users, with HUGE follower counts, probably with many other online contacts other than me, and I’m thinking they just dont have the time/willpower to address anything that doesn’t involve them personally? or something?

Listen, the fandom has evolved in the years’ hiatus I took from art, I can see and feel it in my ooolllldd bones

but I’ve been burned badly by other users I once called friends, and never again. I just wondered if anyone had some insight in conduct or a realistic take on what users are even doing here socially anymore xD

Has anyone else encountered something similar, or even have another perspective on the whole “You did art for me, I did art for you let’s be friends” dynamic that I remember somewhat fondly from my 2018 years?

There is -zero- in game hardcore robot pornography in addition to all that perfect FPS combat, which for the indie developers is just kind of insensitive? In 2023?

Anthrocon has recharged my art- batteries so I kind of want to get back into making TF art.

That’s right folks, Philadelphia is about to get a whole lot more philthy cuz Splyced is coming to town.

Well, I’m technically moving to Media, a beautiful lil’ outskirt town not even 15 minutes away from the city proper, but I’m so excited! I’ve just about McFuckin had it with New Jersey, this has been a long time coming.

I still have TONS to do even after we move in tomorrow but I’ll have Internet access within the week and I’m hell bent on using it for becoming a little more active. In fact, expect a pretty decent art dump from me in the next week! 🤙

I know a total of 2 furries in the area right now and can’t wait to meet more!! Any locals who may want to social-distantly show me the ropes of the new town would be hugely appreciated! XD
