Posted 11 years agoSo, due to a broken tablet cord and pitiful income, I’m opening for sketch commissions. $10 will get you a pencil sketch of a single figure. If you want something more, that’s possible, but the price may vary a bit.

Posted 12 years agoBecause I'm in desperate need of money, I'm going to open commissions for plushies. So here's the low-down:
Pricing
Pricing is going to vary completely depending on the design. Expect it to cost anywhere from $50 to $150, depending on how complex the markings are, if I have to make a new pattern, if it has extra limbs (ie wings), etc.
Payment
Payment should be sent through paypal after we have settled on a price. The cost of materials must be paid upfront. This is usually about 30% of the total cost. The remaining cost can be paid upfront or upon completion.

I think it's time to REALLY open commissions. The whole works- digital, traditional, icons, reference sheets, keychains, you name it. I'm going to open a limited number of slots for each thing. They'll re-open as I get them done.

I am still toying with the idea of taking commissions for leather or plushies, but as not a single person has expressed any interest in this, I'm currently leaning against it.
Edit: I also lowered the cost of shaded commissions, as I've found a shading method that doesn't take forever and a day to do.
Streaming!
So I've got myself a Jtv account and I've been streaming a lot lately. Sometimes I do art, sometimes I do video games. I recently finished a playthrough of Amnesia. A lot of you guys have probably already seen it, but in case you haven't, here's the link.
I'm going to start posting a journal here when I start streaming. I will also be taking a few commissions to be done on the stream. $15 for a single character, no background, no crazy wacky complicated things or difficult poses, but full color and shading.

Posted 13 years agoAlright, so I'm finally settling into school and getting enough free time to do other things. In light of this, there are a few changes I want to make around here, but I'd like to see if anyone is interested first.
Full Commissions
First off, I'm planning on fully opening for commissions soon. I will still be doing various sales every month, but in the meanwhile you can still commission other things from me. This would include both artwork and keychains.
I would also like to open one or two slots at a time for bigger projects.
Leatherworking
The problem with leatherworking is that I'm somewhat confined in what I can do. Wallets would be the most likely thing, but of course I would consider other options.
Here are a couple examples:
Assassin's Creed wallet: one, two
Portal wallet: one, two
Checkbook cover
The price for leather goods would vary greatly depending on what you want, and how complicated the tooling is.
Plushies
if you want a plushie of your fursona or something, this is for you. I've made a lot of plushies in the past but I've never done them on commission before. Materials aren't horribly expensive for this (much cheaper than leather), but they tend to take a horrendous amount of time to make. This means that cost for one of these is going to start at $60, and go up depending on complexity. The Sherlock plush, for example, took about 5 hours to make, while the Mao and Deathwing pluhies took more like 12 hours.

For those not in the know, ATCs are little 2.5" x 3.5" cards with art on them! In this case, they're smooth bristol cards inked and colored with Prisma markers.
Here's an example: Spooks ATC
The price for one of these is $10, shipping in. That's right, you don't even have to pay extra for shipping. At least not in the USA.
International orders will be taken on a case by case basis, unless you do not want them shipped to you. This is because shipping costs vary... sometimes greatly.
Now, there are going to be some rules this time around, for the sake of my sanity.

-The finished cards will be scanned and emailed to you, then shipped to whatever address you provide upon completion.

Commissions Opening Soon: Input Needed: ATCs v $5 Sketches

Artist Trading Cards, for those who don't know, are little 2.5" x 3.5" bristol cards with art on them. In this case, they'd be fully inked and colored with Prisma markers. I'm hoping to get a sample done tonight.
Currently, I'm thinking of charging $10 for them, with that including shipping to anywhere in the US. International orders would have to be a case-by-case thing, as I have no idea what shipping would be like.
What do you guys think? Is this something you would be interested in? Is the price agreeable? Would you guys rather have $5 sketches this months, screw the ATCs?

Last Icon Slot, plus future commission plans, etc
Posted 13 years agoAlright, with school starting up and January slowly coming to a close, I've decided I'm going to cut off icons at 15 slots. This means that there is one slot still available for anyone who wants it badly enough to pay $5. There are a few reasons for this:
1. Due to school starting up, it's taking me a bit longer to do these last couple than I'd like. I've still got one in my queue, and I'm hoping to finish it in the next day or two.
2. They've stopped pouring in. This isn't necessarily a bad thing... but they were way more popular than I expected them to be and that was super, super cool! A big huge thank you to everyone who commissioned one, or even just said you liked them. Seriously, I appreciate it. I may not reply to every comment, but I read them all, and they give me the warm fuzzies. You guys are awesome. ♥
3. I have other plans for February! Namely, I'm going to be doing a batch of $5 sketches. I haven't decided on the details yet, but I'll let you know when the time comes. :3 What I *do* know is that the money from this is going to go into my Anthrocon fund. More info on that in February.

I currently only accept PayPal as a form of payment.
-Payment may be sent to SpooksFox[at]gmail[dot]come once a price is settled upon. (For previous commissioners- yes, the old email still works)
-Payment must be sent before I will start the commission.
-PLEASE do not send me any money until I approve your commission and give you a solid price. I will tell you when to pay me.
How to Request a Commission
If you are interested in a commission (even tentatively!), simply drop me a note here on FurAffinity or send an email to SpooksFox[at]gmail[dot]com. Your note should include:
-A visual or written description of what you want (be it charm or art)
-References if you have them
-Anything specific you think I should know
-An email address or something where I can contact you easily, if you do not often check your FA notes.
Things I will not draw: porn, scat, vore, waterworks, cub porn, or anything extremely violent. I do reserve the right to refuse commissions based on content. If you're not sure what you want is something I am willing to draw, just ask me.
If the Queue is Full
In the case that all of my slots fill up, I will make a waiting list. This does not guarantee you a commission, nor does it mean you HAVE to commission me when I open more slots. It simply means that you will be notified of new slots as soon as they open. I will contact people in the order that they joined the waiting list- if someone no longer wants a commission, the next person down on the list will be notified of the open slot, and so on and so forth. If you wish to join (or be removed from) the waiting list, simply send me a note or email SpooksFox[at]gmail[dot]com.

Prismacolor Premier pens- never again!
Posted 14 years agoSo in my quest to find inking pens that I can't complain about, I stopped by the art store today and picked up a pack of Prismacolor Premier art pens. I've been using Prisma markers for years and have always loved them, so I figured this would be a fairly safe purchase. I assumed, if nothing else, that they would be at least as good as the Sakura Pigma Micron pens I've been using for years. The microns I have no major complaints about, but they fade terribly when erased over and sometimes smear when colored over with Prisma markers.
This was a bad decision.
Right off the bat I had troubles with these pens. The pens themselves feel bulky and awkward, and are incredibly uncomfortable to hold for long periods of time. This may, however, be due to my rather small hands. In any case, not cool.
The ink flow from these pens was terrible. Despite the fact that they were brand new pens, the ink flow was erratic and splotchy. Often no ink at all would flow, and then suddenly it would blotch and start up again, still with erratic line widths. Trying to draw a line more than about 2 cm long was a complete disaster. After I finally finished the painful process of inking my small sketch, I found that the ink fades every bit as badly as my Micron pens did when erased over. I haven't even bothered trying to color over them.
Is it possible I simply got a bad batch of pens? Absolutely. However, at $15 for a 5 pack, I won't be taking a second chance.
(And for those who will inevitably tell me to try DickBlick for cheaper pens- they're MORE expensive when you have to pay $10 or more in shipping. It sucks.)
So yeah. I would not recommend to any of my artist friends that they buy Prisma Premier pens. Hopefully I'll have more luck with the Copic multiliners I'm hoping to order next week. If not? Back to the microns.
