So it's been almost a week since AC ended, and I fear that real life is kicking in again. It always makes me sad when the con is over, because it almost feels like
I've woken up from a really amazing dream.
I had a fantastic (and exhausting!) time at Anthrocon this year. It was awesome to see some old faces again, finally meeting some of my watchers, and meeting a whole bunch of new people! I had a blast fursuiting this year and was so glad to show off my refurbished suit.

I just wanted to say thanks to all of the people that helped to make this year so awesome!

Yup, gonna be at the westin around noonish tomorrow and I absolutely cannot wait! Aaaannd, I have a whole week off work, which is kind of the best thing ever since my job makes me want to hurt people sometimes.

So an update for people who are already recieving arts from me this coming week:

Not really, I don't think I'm ever really growing up XD

But I guess I am going through some grown up-ish milestones. I turn 20 today (woot!) and my lease for my apartment starts up in less than a month! I'm so excited to have my own (official) place to live! I ended up going dumpster diving today to see if I could find anything for the apartment since most people in town are moving out right now, and  tozame and I actually managed to find 2 really nice desks that people decided to throw away. AND since we were stubborn enough to think that we could actually fit one of them in the trunk of my car, we ended up offering some guy some money to use his truck to help us haul it to the apartment. He helped us haul it up there and when i tried to give him the money he refused to take it. He really restored my faith in humanity I think. I love running into awesome people like that.

Life is good :3

So now all i have left to worry about is finishing up my final exams and saving up some money!

SUMMER MODE ACTIVATE!

So life has been pretty interesting here lately. I've been slowly getting through my 2nd year of college and am finally almost done with it. In my drawing class this semester I got to do my first nude figure drawings. I've been talking for the past year or so how excited i've been for this, however when the time finally came to draw a naked stranger, I suddenly turned into a giggling kid in 7th grade health class all over again. After about 5 minutes or so I gained my composure and treated it like any other still life, but regardless it was an interesting experience XD
As many of my friends know, I've been a broke sack of crap over the last 2 years (everyone who witness me nomming on my sghettios and nutella sandwiches at AC last year knows this XD). However in the past couple of months i've realized that I can't survive as a poor hobo forever, so I decided to go back to wal-mart for a job. As much as I despised working there in high school, I realized that after 2 years of on and off unemployment/ employment at various unfair horrible jobs that walmart as a whole was not that bad. And I sure as hell needed some somewhat substantial paychecks. So I'm back to work as a cashier on the weekends, and as much as I complain and hate my life because of it sometimes, overall I'm glad to have the job.
And on a much brighter note, I got an offer today about a resident assistant position over part of the summer. Its an arts related job which excites me, and I know that its something that will look way better on a resume than walmart ever will.
I've also been contemplating the deletion of my facebook account alot today. I've realized that I waste a lot of time on that website, and I really get nothing good out of it. All it does is make me creep on people's private lives and make me dwell on my past too much. My life has changed drastically since high school, so I don't see why I should be so stuck to a website that hasn't changed with me. Most of my close friends have accounts on here or deviantart, so I feel like I wouldn't be missing out on much. If nothing else, I'll actually have to get some phone numbers of some old friends I want to keep and touch with, and god forbid, actually call someone to catch up every once in a while. Because I feel like nobody really does that anymore.

Really, I feel like it's been forever since I've finished something!
School has got me down pretty bad right now, I think i'm in a mid-semester slump. Perhaps that's even more of a reason to work on some personal art though. I just feel like I never have time o.O

So, i've been in this rut here lately that whenever I look at my gallery, I feel the need to scrap everything. This happens every so often, and in which case I have the need to make a list of things I feel as if I desperately need to improve on.
So, here it is, my studies to work on for personal artwork:


HUMAN ANATOMY
-particularly noses, mouths, arms, legs, feet and hands
ANIMAL ANATOMY
-particularly canine muzzles, digitigrade legs, and animals that aren't canine
PERSPECTIVE
-now that I know how it works, i'd like to implement it into my own work outside of class
VARIETY: FACIAL EXPRESSIONS/POSES
TRADITIONAL MEDIUM
-learn some new things with colored pencil, work more with charcoal
DIGITAL MEDIUM
-ugh, everything. Particularly on making my work look less saturated and have more depth. Also, I'm still trying to find a digital coloring style that I enjoy.
SPICE IT UP
-I'm seriously getting a little burnt out with furry art (and anime). Some genres I'd like to try would be steampunk, post-apocalyptic, pin-up (humans!), horror, sci-fi/ fantasy, and a lot of other things. I've also been really inspired by some contemporary artists here lately (particularly Yoshitomo Nara). Finding my own unique style and subject matter is something that i'd really like to work on.
No worries, i'm not giving up on furry art. I'd just really like to explore other artistic paths.



I'm also totally open to a few suggestions. I've definitely discovered here in the past couple of months that there is nothing that compare to asking for help when you need it. In which case I'd like to definitely give a big thank you to  touchofsnow for giving me so much advice over the last month or two.

I thought this was a really interesting idea! You should check it out!

So I recently found the group  ibtc and it made me think of how boobs are represented in this fandom (and everywhere really XD). I don't see enough art of small breasted women on this site, and when i do see a piece of a lady with itty bitty titties i tend to automatically fave because it's so rare. Not that large boobs are a bad thing, but I just feel like breast size really helps to make a character unique, and when people are cranking out nothing but characters with double D's, I tend to lose interest.
I've been on FA for a year now and have noticed that even with my own art, boobies have been an ever changing aspect. This time last year I was drawing horrid balloon tits, but I've definitely developed an interest in a much more realistic body type.

So what do you guys think about boobies? That's the marvelous thing about art, you can create things to be however you like. So how do you prefer boobs (if you prefer them at all that is)? Big, small, realistic or unrealistic?

So school has started back up again and it is already vastly different than last year. I'm loving my art classes (even if they're leaving me dead tired) and I'm actually making some new friends (furs at WVU, hwah?!). However, since i've been so busy I've decided to officially close trades, commissions and everything else for now. So I'm pretty sure my computer got a virus. Stupid 17 year old me was completely convinced that "Oh hey, Macs don't get viruses" and insisted that that is what my parents should get me for christmas/birthday/graduation. Well, I've had my macbook for a year now, and alas have caught a virus. I feel like this is going to get me a ton of "I told you so"'s, but whatever, you live and you learn. I still love my mac and all of it's flashy graphics, but alas, I feel like I'll finally man up and admit that it probably was not worth $1,000.
Or maybe I'm just overreacting and after a nice system re-boot she'll be all shiny and new again. I hope that it's the latter. Because this bitch is broke and isn't getting a new computer any time soon.

Sorry for the whining everybody, just felt like kind of letting off some steam and updating my journal. And possibly explaining my lack of future internet-ings (which shouldn't happen, I do plan on doing a factory reset on this thing).

Fat bunny week is over. I enjoyed it, however, i'm glad it's only once a year. Cuz this fox is TIRED. I ended the week with 48 of those little fluff balls. There were times where trying to deal with so many requests at once got a bit overwhelming, but I'd say it was 110% worth it. I worked on speeding up with my digital art, learned some new lineart tricks, and met a bunch of cool people in the process.
So thank you to all of the people who made me some Sporky bunnies, I loved all of them ^^.

And a big thank you to the new watchers i acquired through this bunny madness.
