I got a job
Posted 7 years agoWhich is why I've been updating rarely! It's my first official job in the animation industry so i'm just as excited as i am busy and kinda stressed, too... the perspective of it being shown in the theatres is giving me anxiety lmao
But! It heavily affects the amount of time I get to spend on the commissions! I'm gonna be like super slow, except the one I already got paid for, that I should probably finish as fast as I can... And ofc I'm not able to take any more slots for now.
I'm very sorry for those who have to wait so much! I will get to you sooner or later. Plus, I'm learning a bunch of new tricks right now so who knows, maybe your pieces will look a lot better than they would if I'd make them sooner!

Commission hiatus til fall
Posted 7 years agoIt's been hard to keep track of my commissions lately, plus I gotta admit I've been really slow... I'm not gonna accept comm requests for a while, so I could finish my current ones in peace!
Gotta learn some time management tricks too D:

Rising from the dead
Posted 7 years agoI FINALLY MOVED ALL MY STUFF AND HANDLED THE PAPER WORK AND SCHOOL TASKS AGHH. How did I manage to make it through this week?
Now I gotta pack my stuff back real quick to go visit my sister in another city.
I'm super exhausted and probably will be recovering for a couple of days maybe, but then I'll be ready to draw!

Hiatus soon
Posted 7 years agoI'm moving out of my place, which wasn't really planned so I couldn't prepare myself properly. This is gonna take about a week - I'm gonna do some work here and there when I have time though. Among with school, online courses, and game work. :'
The thing is that after I move I'm gonna go to a little trip and will have to use my sis' laptop for a while - I'm pretty sure I can install sai and photoshop and will be able to work with regular commissions . Not so sure about animations, so I'm gonna focus on them until then..
Sorry I keep y'all waiting!

Telegram!!
Posted 7 years agoActually I thought telegram and email are much more convenient for commission purposes than FA notes - I've got so many it's getting a little hard to keep track of them.

Thinking about teepublic
Posted 7 years agoIt seems like a nice and easy-to-use platform for selling t-shirt designs and they say you don't have to worry about printing and shipping and it costs nothing to join and sell... I've never made anything merch-like lmao, so I've been wondering if furs even use it at all? What was your experience like? What designs would you guys be interested it? (I've heard every so often disney designs get taken down, which is understandable)
Paypal being weird
Posted 7 years agoPeople's payments been put on hold for some kind of verification (tells me not to ship the product until I get the payment), I looked it up and apparently it's made to avoid fraud
Does anybody get that too? Is that something us freelancers might have trouble with?
(Lmao sorry I get nervous with things like that cause I don't quite understand how they work)
I hope it doesn't take too long and I'll be accepting new commissions as soon as everything works out!

Taking it slow
Posted 7 years agoEhhh typically, I'm gonna be slower on commissions cause:
1. i'm getting a bit worn-out
2. gotta study for finals
still working, just not as much time in a row.

Posted 7 years agoANIMATION COMMISIONS INFO
Posted 7 years agoI wanted to do a big "mastepost", but realized that there's just too many things that would affect the prcie and I'll have to charge each custom animation individually depending on the amount of hours I'm approximately gonna spend.
Here are some things that heavily affect the price.
1) First thing is obviously the duration. I usually set about 12-15 drawings per second, so if you'd like a 10-seconds long animation, it'll cost waaaay more than a walk cycle thing. (Unless most of that time IS actually cycled animation, like in here: http://www.furaffinity.net/full/26000801/)
2) Completeness. Now, there are three categories:
- rough (example: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/26374539/) (please note that I only draw the form, not outlining the markings, may do an exception for scars if there are not too many)
- colors only (example: http://www.furaffinity.net/full/25982981/)
- finished (examples: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/26791047/ http://www.furaffinity.net/view/27061707/) (This is where I like freedom - shadows and other effects would not be included in the price so I'll be able to experiment with them and you don't have to pay extra for that)
Some frames might look a little sketchy - I do clean up but don't do inking as it takes ridicolous amount of time and doesn't always looks good in my case.
3) Character design, i.e. amount and complexity of markings, overall shape, additional body parts like wings and tails. I have the right to simplify the design so it's easier to animate. Keep in mind classic animal movies like TLK or Balto. I will probably have to decline characters with big antlers or complex horns. Also I really suck at horses and sergals :D
4) Shot, by which I mean bust/fullbody.
So let's say $20 per hour of work. Here are some examples of what my past animations would cost based on that:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/26374539/ - 2 hours per character (2x2x20=$80)
http://www.furaffinity.net/full/25081302/ http://www.furaffinity.net/full/25982981/ - 4 hours (4x20=$80)
http://www.furaffinity.net/full/25551715/ - 7 hours (7x20=$140)
http://www.furaffinity.net/full/26791047/ - 12 hours (12x20=$240)
http://www.furaffinity.net/full/27250978/ - 14 hours (14x20=$280)
However, this is all very individual, so everything has to be discussed.
Now, some policy!
- I do not draw NSFW, so animated pron is out of question. However, non-sexualized breasts and butts are ok. :^)
- I have the right to use some animations in my portfolio and share my work anywhere I want (or not to share it at all).
- You can share it anywhere too, just make sure to credit me!
- This one's really important: They can take a long time to make. "5 hours" doesn't mean it'll be finished tomorrow for sure. It can take hours, days, weeks, sometimes over a month! Deadlines will cost extra (the closer it is, the more)
- I've already said that, but just a reminder that I work in queue and usually only start a commission once I'm done with the previous one. So if you've got like 3 people in front of you, you'll have to wait some time. I can probably make an exception if your commission is a lot quicker to make than the other ones though!
- I can decline a commission if it makes me uncomfortable in any way, or if I think it's too complicated to me (for example, if your character's interacting with any sort of machinery or is playing a musical instrument - that requires basic knowledge about this stuff and I have none right now).
- I usually export animations as .gif files, but if you need it in a video format or the .tvp file, please let me know in the beginning! Sometimes I delete the original files so only there are compressed gifs left.
- As I said, I have the right to play with visual effects and camera moves as I'd like.
- Full prepayment via invoice is required.
- You can cancel your commission at any time BEFORE the prepayment. After that, I will make NO REFUNDS unless for some reason I can't do your commission in the near future.
So, if you decide to commission an animation, the process would be pretty similar to regualr commissions:
1. Send me a note or an e-mail (spottyservine.commissions@gmail.com) with description of what you'd like to commission.
2. We discuss the price and possible changes in the design and once it works for both of us, I add you to the queque.
3. When it's your turn, I sketch an extremely rough version of your commission just to show you the approximate timing and composition.
4. If you approve, I send you an invoice from spottyservine@gmail.com. The payment might be declined if you send it as gift. Sometimes people prefer to send money even earlier, before it's their turn - that's cool too!
5. Once I get the payment I start working on your commission! I may ask you a few things about it in process. And again, this may take quite a while.
6. Boom! Your commission is ready!
Oh and also I get really busy at school at the end of semester (typically middle of winter/end of spring) so I get REALLY slow at these times.

Animation commissions? CLOSED
Posted 7 years agoThat's just something I've been wondering about... Now that I learned to animate and color faster, maybe someone would be interested? I'd like to take a couple of test commissions to see if it turns out fine. I really need more practice tbh.
I wanna try something like this: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/26300357/ Feral or toony anthro please!
The character should not have very detailed design - or I can just simplify it!
For that test, I'd say $50-$70 depending on the design. Still trying to figure out the prices....
Slots:
1)
RelaxingDragon1
2)
Sindenbock
Also I'll be opening regular commissions soon! And if these anims turn out fine I'll do them on regular basis too!

Commissions closed for a while + question
Posted 8 years agoI've been having trouble with my new laptop (....when will my technical issues end....) that I REALLY didn't expect to last this long, so I wasn't able to draw digitally. But I'm all ready now and as soon as I finish my current commissions I'll open up again.
Also, has anyone ever used the Parblo tablet?

Closing up til January
Posted 8 years agoThe finals are approaching so I'd better focus on the school stuff and not take any new commissions for a while (NOT including the unpaid ones in my slot list). I might get slightly slower, except the commissions with negotiated deadlines of course!
