15 years!
General | Posted a year agoI've officially been in the fandom 15 years today..! Wow, that's a long time!!
Way back in 2009 I joined after a few friends over at
Kiteless 's DragonSpot forums convinced me to do so (I think the forums were closing or something??) The gang being
TalonBlaze
NiteDragon
AlexDragon
TastySnack100 and
Baako sorry if I'm forgetting anyone!
"But Sprout, it says your account was made back in 2006!" Ah-ha! Actually my first account on this site was
Sprout_the_Drakeling but back then on this site there was a system to reclaim accounts that hadn't had any activity, so since this account was empty with no posts I put in a ticket in June of 2013 to get the name! (Shortly after I did so they took that ticket option away though... oops!)
But yeah, thinking back, it's been quite a journey. Hard to believe it's been that long! A lot of amazing things have happened along the way, including me and
NecroDrone13 being together for almost two years now. <3 Love you baby! I also owe a lot to me learning how to draw thanks to the encouragement from this site and it's community. So thanks!!
Speaking of, I've made some really close friends thanks to this site, and although my activity here has dwindled over the years it's still a place I enjoy coming back to reguarly. The community is so friendly and talented and it's becoming harder and harder to have a portal for everyone to come to and share things and comment to each other... social media sites and Discord servers just aren't the same vibe.
Anyway, I thought it'd be cool to make a journal and be sentimental on here for a bit. Thanks so much for supporting me and my art over all these years. I think I'm officially a grey muzzle furry now... or maybe an ancient wyrm... yeah that sounds much cooler. I'll still be posting art here and there, so see you around!
And Happy Halloween! Go be a treat for someone :)

Rest in peace Dragoneer
General | Posted a year agoThere's really not much more to say than what has already been said. Hearing the news yesterday was both heartbreaking and extremely disappointing. Having been following his updates, I cannot help but feel Dragoneer wasn't given a proper fighting chance and was left hanging. He deserved better. We all do.
My condolences go out to his family, friends, and loved ones. FA has been a part of my life for 15 years now. I've grown as an artist and have met many close friends thanks to this website and the community it fostered. This site would not have been the same (or even exist at all) were it not from Dragoneer's persistence and self sacrifices to keep it operational. It has never been perfect, but FA has had an undeniable impact on the fandom and bringing people together.
Thank you so much for your service and support over the years,
Dragoneer. Rest in peace.

Reposting my art
General | Posted 6 years agoHeya fuzzies/scalies,
I don't really care too much if people repost my art to other sites like e621, but please try to at least age-gate my NSFW stuff.
I recently had to email herpy gallery because my adult Temeraire picture was popping up in google searches even with safesearch on. Stuff like that bothers me, and certainly bothers the people not looking for that kind of content.
Anyway, please try to be considerate of that kind of stuff when posting to Twitter or any other non-age-gated sites. Thanks!

Oh yeah, I made a game!
General | Posted 8 years agoIt's a very small platformer game about inconsistent controls.
Abyssal-Lagiacrus did the music for it, too!
https://chyme.itch.io/inconsistency
It's not noms or furry related sadly, but was good practice for future games that certainly could be. ;)
It was made using Game Maker Studio. Windows only but might be able to make a Mac version if people are interested!

Do I owe you art?

FC and Prints for Sale?
General | Posted 10 years agoWould anyone be interested if I offered some prints for sale at FC? If so, what prints should I bring, assuming I can only print a few pictures?
Also, hope everyone had a great new years! See you at FC if you're going!!

Holy Crap What The Hell Has Sprout Been Doing For 6 Years
General | Posted 10 years agoWow 6 years in the fandom!!!!
I officially feel like an old grouchy greymuzzle now. It’s also very easy for me to remember to do these annual updates since I joined the fandom on Halloween (2009 baby! Err… check my old account for that.) Happy haunting day!
I like to do these just because I rarely post journals otherwise, and heck, it’s like a little mini update if for whatever reason people are curious. WHY would you be curious? It’s not like I’m opening up commissions or anything… (haha… bad joke, sorry.)
Anyway, thanks for tuning in, you delicious morsel you! I’ll eat you later, but first, thanks everyone that supported (and is still buying!) my art pack! I posted it back in February to help with my move to Cali, which went well! The new job is a job. It’s cool I guess. Kinda boring. Actually it’s really boring. I think I’m getting sick of business and IT. Might branch off into something that demands more creativity in the future, but for now I’m just chilling in SoCal with people and enjoying life here.
Anyway enough about all that, let’s talk about maws. You might’ve noticed that I haven’t been posting very much art here. Some of that is because I only really like to post big, ‘finished’ pieces here… and don’t really finish very many. Most of my sketches, doodles, and WIPs I throw on my Twitter. I was thinking of maybe moving to tumblr, but I’m also super lazy and don’t like to update multiple sites. We’ll see though.
What I’ve been thinking of doing lately is starting work on a bigger, more comprehensive project. I’m… not exactly sure what that might be just yet. Maybe an ongoing webcomic. Maybe a small game. Maybe a mix of something else. But basically I want to start something that will keep me coming back to work on it. Over the past few years the desire to draw has gotten less and less, and part of that is because when I finish a picture, it’s just…. That’s it. It’s a picture. There’s not really any more to it. (Actually, that’s a big reason I started doing trades and collabs with authors and other artists, to give a little more life and context to pictures.)
So yeah, I’m not exactly sure the details on what that’d all be just yet. But first I need to finish the small projects I have on my plate. You’ll see a few more collab’s coming up soon, and a few more pictures I wanted to finish for friends. Oh, and the ADP is coming up, too! And after all that, I might go silent for a while. But not forever. Anyway, that’s about all I have to say for now. Thanks for tuning in! *NOMFS!*
Told you I’d eat you later. :D

Art Pack Paypal Payments are now closed. Also, THANK YOU! <3
General | Posted 10 years agoHi everyone!
I'm closing down manual Paypal payments for my Art Pack as of now, primarily because Gumroad now supports Paypal payments right on their website (woohoo!) So if you'd still like to purchase my pack using Paypal, you can head over here: https://gumroad.com/products/fsmBy
Also, I'd just like to thank everyone that's bought and supported me through the pack, especially you generous folks that donated more than the posted price. THANK YOU so much!! Your support is amazing, and absolutely helped me out with my big cross country move! (Which went pretty smooth by the way!) <3 <3
I may offer an adult pack sometime in the future, containing all of my adult themed pieces... but I'd have to find a way to distribute that. Would anyone be interested? I'm open for discussion about it. I'd probably price it around the same as my last one (certainly not any higher.)
Again, thanks so much for the support! Until next time!

"Vore and More" Art Pack PayPal Payments are Open!
General | Posted 11 years agoThank you all so much for the interest in my art pack! There are a decent amount of people that would prefer to pay through Paypal, which I will have to do manually for now.
If you would like to purchase my Vore and More art pack through Paypal, please follow the below instructions:
___________________________
Please send $3 USD to: sproutDrake[at]gmail.com
Please mark the payment as “goods and services”
In the notes section, say “Sprout 2015 Art Pack” and PLEASE put your email address. I will send your download link to this address.
If you don’t put your email address (or a way to contact you) in the notes, I won’t be able to send you a download link and will have to refund you.
If you run into any problems you can get a hold of me here or send me a note! I will be handing these out manually so the response time might be a bit slow, but I will try and do several batches a day. Thanks again for everyone’s support!

Back from FC
General | Posted 11 years agoI had SO much fun at FC this year, thanks for everyone that helped make the con as awesome as it is. The ADP was great this year as well, minus the sudden hiccup at the start but what can you do sometimes...
I really had trouble trying to sit down and relax, there was just so much to do and so many people to hang out with. I even managed to do a bit of drawing, who'd have thought! (Had to borrow pencils tho, thanks Drgn8D!)
Thanks again for another year of the best con around :)

Four Years
General | Posted 12 years agoOkay technically I should have posted this yesterday, but hey, crazy work and stuff lately.
Yesterday was my fourth anniversary of being on FA, and in actuality, joining the fandom as a whole. Which is cool. Neato. Though I guess if you wanted to see it for yourself you’d have to go to my original account
Sprout_the_drakeling .
I try and write a little blurb every year for the heck of it, but maybe to get my mind off work, I’ll actually use the journal feature on FA as a “journal” and just spout out random crap. (Wait, you mean journals don’t have to be YCH auctions and self-commission promotions? Woahhh…)
Let’s start with the usual bullshit of “woah, I can’t believe it’s been four fucking years.” Because seriously, it doesn’t feel like it at all. At ALL. I joined the fandom one lonely Halloween night back in my senior year of college at the ripe age of 22 after stumbling upon
Kiteless ‘s vore site, Dragonspot (I think it’s actually still up too). Before that, I had *absolutely* no idea other people were as crazy obsessed about being eaten as I was. Believe me, I thought I was the only fucked up person in the entire universe that wasn’t freaked out about that strange idea. How completely insane and unnatural of an instinct is it to WANT to get eaten? Silly human brains…
(It’s actually a bit more complicated than just wanting to be eaten, but hell, if you’re reading this at all you probably already know that.)
Anyway, it might seem trivial now bout that was a huge discovery for me. Like seriously: a life-changing moment in time. I will remember it until the end of the foreververse. It’s amazing how being able to connect with even a small amount of like-minded people can be so inspiring and relieve a crazy amount of end-of-school stress to boot. I remember talking to my newfound friends all throughout finishing college. The gang that actually brought me over from DragonSpot to FA were
Talonblaze
Nitedragon and
Baako along with a few others I’m not sure are still around like AlexTheDragon, TastySnacks, and Yuuto. Then I met
Pyxaron , found the courage to visit him in real life (since he wasn’t very far away), went to cons (a proposal I thought was completely ridiculous and would never happen, and now I’m addicted) and slowly began to meet most of the friends I know today. Yay! *big group hug!*
It’s a little funny, too. I remember being VERY into role play when I first joined the fandom. Maybe it was because I drew worse than a blind, noseless elephant on LSD and it was the only way for me to express vore creatively in a somewhat coherent fashion (which mind you was a HUGE release after storing all that inspiration for 22 so-odd years).
That being said, the character ‘Sprout’ was never really a persona of mine at all. In fact he was just a random character I felt obliged to create to join the community. Which isn’t a bad thing, I learned to like him (and still like his first concept sketch, surprisingly). I also named a rather bad ass fucking WoW character after him (and good or bad, all my ex-WoW friends know me as Sprout as well). But taking on his name for 4 years is kind of weird, now that I think about it. Especially now that I don’t role play much anymore. It’s almost an obsolete reference at this point.
If I had to pick an actual “fursona” that would fit me most, I’d say Chyme would be more accurate. While in real life I’m not actually a slimey-skinned amphibious throat-crawling parasite, (at least I don’t *think* I am…) the character was directly inspired from a part of my own persona. Which is probably why I like him so much. It’s an interesting thing to go through, a bit self-revealing, and it’s something I think everyone eventually does at some point. Maybe it’s part of the secret “get good” thing artists try and do. You know? That thing?
Speaking of art (my transitions are flawless, shut up) FA gets the credit for being the only reason I actually kept drawing after college (some could say “learned how to draw after college” if they wanted to be mean jerks). Without all the friends and support from the community I would have just shrugged it off and completely given up on that. So there you have it, furries are good for something! (I kid, really!) But I do always think of that whenever I go to hit that submit button on this site—you guys really did pave the road and I will always appreciate that. So there’s your mushy inspirational speech of the night, now go start drawing if you haven’t and let FA totally carry you like it did me.
Speaking of drawing too… it really needs to happen. And it will, eventually. Work can only be an excuse for so long. Once I get some free time I’ll start slaving away at projects I swore I’d do like half a year ago. That and I’m due for more noms and maws and D and cool neat stuff like that which is more or less the only fucking reason you are even getting this journal notification in your messages. So that will be happening. Yay!
But yeah, I guess wrapping this up I’d just like to thank everyone for the awesome four years, all the friends I’ve made, all the people that supported (or gave me reality checks on) my art, and everyone I finally got to put a face to at cons. You’re all awesome. Keep being awesome! (And delicious!)
xoxo

Home from AC!
General | Posted 12 years agoAND NOW TO PASS OUT.
I will make a POST-con journal later, but for now thank everyone for making this con SUPER AMAZING. It was a very much needed vacation.
And even though I don't do commissions I somehow came home with a huge list of art to do. HOW DOES HAPPEN?
