First off, I consider myself a vore artist. I always have, and always will. It was the reason I started drawing, and continues to be the reason I strive to get better. I'm not sure why, but it is the driving force behind my creativity. I love art, but I love vore more!

That being said, I came to a realization browsing though one of my watchers favorites list. I sometimes do this to find really awesome art, and it just so happened this particular individual LOVED vore art too. Along with a plethora of awesome pictures, he(or she) also had every single vore artist I've ever followed in there at some point, and even some amazing ones I've never discovered! Seriously, off the top of my head I saw Acidic, NecroDrone, Sammy, Aerith, Morca, Khael, Sirorca, DragonFood, Macroceli, Aurana, Danza, Vorelord, Tan, RenaAyama, Apoptosis, Pyxaron (hah!), Runa, Tenur, NiteDragon, Thecruelseasons, TheMirth, ECMajor, TacoKurt... hell those are all off the top of my rambling, tired, delusional head, there were billions more.

Anyway I was having such a huge blast wizzing through all this new and old vore art I've either seen, not seen, or forgotten about, faving and watching some, but usually forgetting to like I sometimes do (seriously, it took me until last week to realize I wasn't watching Macroceli, I will never forgive myself for such a blunder!) It actually took me a few days but I got all the way to the end of this massive list and suddenly realized something: I didn't see a single one of MY pieces in there! Not a single one!

Now don't loose me--I know there's really no way to say that without sounds completely arrogant. But for a couple fleeting seconds that's kind of what ran through my mind. Oh.. woe is Sprout! How could they not! Why are they watching me in the first place? (Read: Probably from Narse) Vore is like, my thing! It's why I draw! It's what I'd like people to know me by, if they are ever to know me here in the first place. It's what I want to share with everyone and then spread my inspiration onto others with! I am by no means the best vore artist, but aim to climb among their ranks.

Well... at least that's what I want to do eventually. So I fell back down to my senses and figured maybe I'm not there yet, then took a stroll through ye olden gallery of mine. And well.. maybe I've been fooling myself all along. There's scarcely a vore picture in the thing! A few mawshots maybe. And anything that could be considered it is either centuries old, or... lacking.

Lacking. That can best describe it when it's all said and done. My art thus far is lacking, but I'm not sure in what. I think I have improved in technical skill for sure, and am still improving. But technicalities, composition, shiny rendering, and better(ish) anatomy all aside, what about the ART itself is missing? Technical skill helps, yes, but art is all about the message. What is it trying to suggest? What about that world draws you in?... well aside from the maws. What have I been forgetting in all my art studies over the past two years that make even the most diehard vore fans skim over my work and shrug it off??

So TL:DR I guess the point of this journal is two-fold. One: there will be more vore this year. A lot more. More art at the expense of technical correctness. It's time to draw to draw again, not just draw to get better. And two: what do all you vore lovers out there WANT to see? What do you enjoy? What has been missing??

This is my late night train of thought. The person will remain nameless, of course, in the spirit of this journal. Other than that, I would absolutely love to hear anyone's thoughts this, art, or vore in general.

I'm not a touchy person, sorry. Handshakes and (sometimes, if I know you, and the moons are aligned right) hugs are okay. That's about the line for me, none of this kissing, scritching, sac tap shit you kids are doing these days... that just sound painful!

Pretty shy and introverted, but I tend to try and push that all aside for cons. I rarely take anything seriously (hopefully in a good way) and always chippy and happy, so no worries there!

Of FA madness! That's right, my foray into the fandom has it's 2 year birthday today! 2 years ago on one lonely college Halloween night I discovered this crazy community. Horray for it! Horray for all of you corrupting (convincing) me into drawing! It's only too bad though, you'd think after two years my art would improve at least a bit... XD Failll!

A special shout-out to all my friends on here that keep me motivated and coming back. You guys are awesome, and I wouldn't be here without you. Another shout to all the AWESOME inspiring artists out there. I can't believe how many times a day my jaw hits the floor. It's honestly not even fair. I just watched the entire Neon Genesis Evangelion series for the first time, and LOVED EVERY BIT OF IT!

I don't really see the pattern or cause to these things, but it seems like my motivation to become an artist goes through violent dips and climbs, like a terrible roller-coaster of unexcitement and dissapointment. What gives?

Honestly I don't really feel that depressed about it at all, more apathetic and un-motivated. I've been asked to draw our squadron's mascot (a red wolf) on the walls of our dorms here. Normally I'd be excited to put my hobby to good use of sorts, but the crap I've been sketching and throwing away just puts me completely off the entire project! The sketch I'm about to turn in is absolutely generic and looks like a fox rather than a wolf, even though I've been staring mindlessly at several references and redrew it 3 or 4 times. I give up! I don't get it! Why is this so frustrating and such a let down??

I know this is normal, and almost all artists go though this kind of shit, so I shouldn't be worried because in a couple weeks I'll be right back to drawing again, blah blah blah. But it's always kind of stressfull to wonder if this might be the time I give it up all together and waste the 3 years of effort I've worked to build. A lot of the time when I feel this way I often browse other successfull and talented artist's galleries and try to figure out what they're doing that I'm not. The answer is both obvious and unknown to me, because whenever I put the pencil back down I can't come close to anything they accomplish. It leads me into a mindset where I try and shatter whatever techniques and styles I used to work with and build them completely anew, which is a reason my stuff just seems to jump every which way in appearance I think. And as much as I'd hate to admit it, being obsessed with dragons, maws, and vore has severely stunted my artistic growth. I need to branch away from that shit, and soon. That's not to say I wouldn't post some of it here occassionally though, I could never drop it alltogether since I love it too much.

In fact, I'm not even sure why I'm writing this here in the first place, perhaps I just need to vent a bit and my wall already has holes in it (not from me!) Really I only come on FA nowadays to look at art and maybe talk with one or two friends. I used to post stuff to get critique and chat with inspirational artists to help me improve, but now with all my training I hardly do that at all anymore so there's not really much reason to do it. In fact I often wondered why artists like us posted things like we do. I like to believe I am a modest person, but the only reason I could come up with is attention, which really bothers me to no end. Especially since that means I'd be posting my sub-par art to get it..?

All these things burrow into my mind every now and then, then run off and fade away for a bit until they make their way back. As I'm writing this I have no idea if anyone in their right mind would spend the time to read such a long and un-edited vomit of words. Maybe it's time to go watch a movie and cool off for a bit. It still doesn't change the fact I need to paint **something** artistically interesting on our squadrons walls though. And thats going to sit and rot in my head until it's finished, then probably haunt me forever when I see it every single day from now until I leave this base.

And here I thought hobbies were supposed to relax you.

Overall I had a lot of fun at the con. Traveling was an utter bitch either way, as it decided to snow both coming and going, and ruining plans all around. But actually GETTING there Thursday and seeing friends I haven't seen in such a long time was so relieving. I chilled with Pyx, Seraphis, Madatsubomi, Con, and Sekaj, and spent most of my time hanging out with Shadow and Fire as well.

I only went to a couple panels, but they were pretty good. Hibbary's was totally amazing and she needs to do another one. I sorta rushed last-minute into the ADP so didn't know what I was going into, but it ended up being a ton of fun too. Shit-ton of nervousness though. There needs to be a non-adult panel like that, I'd love to see more dragon artists come up and show off their work. I don't think I could have gone there without being tethered to Morca's ankle. I'm pretty sure I followed that guy everywhere, haha. Must come with shyness.

I gotta say after the canadian gang left Sunday things died down to a grinding halt pretty much. I did get to watch some bad movies with Narse and his crew though, which was real fun meeting them though I'm pretty shy usually. If anyone's wondering, we watched Poultrygeist. Watch it. It's halarious!

I had fun overall though! If I met you and forgot your name (I'm super terrible at that) just poke me here, I promise I don't ignore or forget people on purpose!! :)

When do you arrive/depart?
Around 12 noon Thursday, and probably arriving with the rest of the Canadian gang around the same time.
I'm also leaving Monday night, probably around 5ish or so.

I'm going to flip a coin. If it's heads, I'll flip another coin. If that one is heads, I'll maybe consider drawing something for it this weekend.
In all seriousness though, I actually came up with a good (hopefully not already used) idea that would definitly fall into this category. If I draw it in time, and if submissions are still accepted, who knows!

6) Do you do requests/trades/commissions at cons?
Hahaha, noooo. Although I do bring my sketchbook, I suck at drawing, take forever, and will more than likely have no time at all to do so. I'll save drawing for when I'm back home and bored. Plus drawing on the computer is eazymode.
