So I'm an animator now
General | Posted a month agoLife is a bit funny. I started learning animation, sort of. That is to say I learned how to use the animation system in a particular game because I was bored. An adult furry game, that is. I started posting animations on the game's discord and now I'm rather involved in this thing. The developer of the game, Softscale, commissioned me to create animations for the game going forward.
That game is FarmD
So uh, enjoy the sexy dragon stuff if you're into it. I wouldn't even know how to guess what the overlap is between that audience and the audience I've had for music here. It's nice to contribute to the furry community again anyway, though in a different way.
The game does have the distinct feature of no music at all. I haven't yet told Softscale that I can write music too. I'll bring it up to him sometime...

General | Posted 8 months agoA new soundtrack!
General | Posted 4 years agoHello everyone. I'm pleased to announce that my wife
arcturasnowleopard and I are making a furry visual novel called Heart of Snow! Well, she's making it along with some artists; I'm just writing the soundtrack. It's going to use both a mix of new tracks and old tracks of mine. You can download the demo here: https://noor-fernandez.itch.io/heart-of-snow
It's her first game/novel, so kind feedback is appreciated. Currently I have a couple of Astral tracks in use for it as well as some new ones, such as my latest submission (https://www.furaffinity.net/view/45075382/). You can also hear a couple other pieces new in there which I'll be submitting to FA soon!

Not Dead!
General | Posted 4 years agoHello everyone! I've been away a while. I got a PhD in math abroad, got a research post-doc in math, quit that because research is hard and lonely, and now I'm back in the US teaching. I got married too! Oh also there was a pandemic, which has been awful hasn't it? I've dealt with some severe depression, but I'm feeling a bit better these days.
Anyway, I'm getting back into the furry fandom and writing music. For now I'm going to upload a couple of old tracks I never shared, but I have new music coming too! That's because my wife and I are making a game, and I'm the composer. More details on that soon.

I'm back!
General | Posted 10 years agoHello Furaffinity!
It's been over 2 years now. I've got some new music for you! Expect new submissions on a weekly basis for a while.

Where I've been, also I'm deleting a chunk of my gallery
General | Posted 13 years agoHello everyone! You may have noticed I've been away for a couple months. Basically my computer broke, and then I went to graduate school. Now the computer is fixed, though I don't have a whole lot of time these days. I'll try to submit stuff when I can.
But anyway, every year I clean out my gallery of some of the less popular submissions because it gets pretty difficult for new listeners to go through a gallery of over 100 submissions. To that end I have calculated the average number of favorites for one of my compositions, and have found it to be about 10.6. Hence, I've decided to remove any submission with fewer than 8 favorites, and to move anything with 8 or 9 favorites to scraps.
Here's a list of submissions that will be affected:
Those being deleted:
Sakura's Theme
Yokuza's Theme
Angus's Theme
Metropolis Rush
Pugnandum Fatum
Under Cerulean Skies
A Quick Scrap
Astral's game over theme
Astral's victory theme
Astral (main theme)
Last Great Fugue
Sonata No. 1 in e minor (all 3 movements)
Avatar pic
Piano Concerto Suite No. 1 in C flat Major (april fools joke)
Those being moved to scraps:
Astral's Kingdom Theme
Ballad of Miracles
Rage of Eternity
Impromptu in e minor
Building Tension
String Quartet No. 2 in c sharp minor (all 5 movements)
Sonata-Allegro for band
17 Eight Too
Sonata No. 3 in d minor (all 3 movements)
String Quartet No. 1 in g minor (all 4 movements)
Toccata and Fugue in B minor
I will remove the submissions in a few days. Much of this music is still pretty good, and only lacks favorites because I didn't have as many watchers back then. So, if people favorite the submissions I've listed, I'll reconsider moving or removing them. Cheers!

Piano Sonata Key Signatures
General | Posted 13 years agoSome of you at one point or another may have wondered if my choice of key signature for my piano sonatas follows any kind of pattern. In fact, the first 50 of my piano sonatas already have their keys determined. I thought I'd take a minute to explain some of the patterns involved.
Here are the keys of my first 50 piano sonatas, in order (in minor unless specified):
E Bb D G# C F# B F A Eb G C#
F B D# A C# G Bb E G# D F# C
C major
C# G Eb A F# C G# D Bb E B F
C F# D G# E Bb F B G C# A Eb
Eb major
Aside from the C major sonata and the Eb major sonata, it would seem pretty random right? Well, not as much if you compare the even numbered sonatas to the odd numbered sonatas:
Odd : E D C B A G F D# C# Bb G# F# CM G A C D E F F# G# Bb B C# Eb
Even: Bb G# F# F Eb C# B A G E D C C# Eb F# G# Bb B C D E F G A EbM
So here are a few things to notice:
1. In the case of sonatas 1-12, 13-24, 26-47, and 48-59, all twelve keys are used distinctly with no repeats, and in a different pattern each time.
2. The odd numbered sonatas follow a descending phrygian scale at first, and later an ascending mixolydian scale with the b skipped.
3. The even numbered sonatas eventually follow a descending locrian scale with the f removed, and later a complete ascending locrian scale.
4. For sonatas 1-24, the even numbered sonata is always exactly a tritone above each previous odd numbered sonata.
5. For sonatas 26-49, the odd numbered sonata is always exactly a tritone above each previous even numbered sonata.
There are more patterns in there too. I just wanted you guys to know I'm not going about this haphazardly. In fact, I'm actually going about it rather obsessively.
Oh and do be sure to check out my latest one, the sixth: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/8552750/

I hope you all enjoyed my shenanigans
General | Posted 13 years agoAhh April Fools day: fun as always. You all got a listen of my first piano concerto I hope? For the record those aren't my arrangements. My brother made and recorded them about 10 years ago with his roommates. Deception aside, I hope you all enjoyed it at least; I really like the arrangements :3
Anyway, it's being moved to scraps. I've got another Astral track for you all next week; look forward to it ^.^

I remastered all of Astral
General | Posted 13 years agoSo I found this fancy trick that makes my music sound a lot more clear. I've gone and applied it to just about every track of the Astral soundtrack. I encourage you to go and listen to the tracks again as it makes quite the difference. I might do this to my fifth piano sonata as well, and if you have any requests for pieces of mine that you would like upgraded in this matter, I'd be happy to do it.
Music commissions open!
General | Posted 14 years agoHappy new year everyone, I hope you all had fine holidays. I certainly did, well except that I haven't been able to write much music. A bit of composer's block you see, lack of inspiration. I haven't had to compose as constantly for Astral lately, so I'd like to open it up to commissions.
A reminder on my prices: I charge $10 + $5 per 30 seconds of orchestral music, or $5 + $5 per 45 seconds of piano music. I'd like to think that's pretty cheap considering the amount of time it takes me :3
So if you want some music, let me know! I might also be open to requests, if I feel so inspired.

Taking December off
General | Posted 14 years agoJust to let you all know, I'm planning on taking the month of December off from submitting stuff. School has been absurd this quarter and I've hardly had time to compose anything (most of what I've submitted since September was actually completed over the summer). Anyway, I may submit something small at some point if I come up with something good, but for the most part I'll be back to weekly submissions next year.
Cheers
Cheers
It is finished
General | Posted 14 years agoFinished cleaning up my gallery. You guys managed to save 17 Eight and Last Great Fugue. The string quartets I decided not to move to scraps after all as they are major works and they were just on the border line, so I just changed the thumbnails. I've also updated the rest of my thumbnails as well; those submissions that appear on my two albums have their respective album covers as the thumbnail now, and I also added a couple new ones (replaced that old pencil sketch I was using for scraps, for instance). It makes my gallery a lot more colorful, and it gives it a bit more variety from the "Original Composition" thumbnail over and over.
I've had a ton of school work and haven't actually composed anything completely new since Rainfurrest, so I won't be submitting a piece next week. Hopefully should get back into it in the mean time, and maybe one of my composition classes will give me an assignment actually worth sharing with you guys for once...
Until next time, cheers! ^^

The second annual "delete half my gallery" journal!
General | Posted 14 years agoHi there! Today, 10/06/11 marks the two year anniversary of my first music submission to FA. Also two days ago was my birthday. The big 21 as it were (and it was fun). Anyway, the purpose of this journal is to deal with the problem of having too many submissions. Someone new to my material wouldn't know where to begin. With 100 submissions, at an average of, say, 3 minutes per piece, that's 6 hours of music! So I'm once again going to delete some of my less popular ones in order to improve the overall quality of my gallery. First, this statistic:
I've submitted 68 original compositions, totaling 630 favorites
That's an average of 9.26 favorites per composition (arrangements are not included here because their popularity skews the results).
Then, what I shall do is this: Any submission with 6 or fewer favorites shall be removed. Any with 7 or 8 favorites shall be moved to scraps. Here is the list of affected submissions:
Those being deleted:
Sonata No. 1 in e minor
17 Eight (This is like, my favorite piece of mine. You guys are crazy)
Video Game Overture
Last Great Fugue (no really, you guys are crazy...)
Kalvekian's Piano Ditty
If I Was in a Rock Band...
Video Game Medley (Live Performance)
Nocturne in D minor for handbell choir
Rise Through the Abyss 8 bit version
Sinister Battle
Chorale in C minor
Chromatic Round
Those being moved to scraps:
Prelude and Fugue in f sharp minor
More Epic Battle
Decisive Encounter
String Quartet No. 1 in g minor
Nocturne in a minor
Piano Works Medley
String Quartet No. 2 in c# minor (has ~8 fav/sub avg)
Raised Courage (is awesome and shame on you all)
Astral (also awesome, I even added an ending)
Freedom in Flight
Building Tension (additionally awesome)
Curiosity
Astral - Snow city theme
Exceptions/notes: Sonatas 3 and 4 average above 9 per submission, though not per movement, but they are kept in the gallery anyway. Pugnadum Fatum has only 5 favorites at the moment, but it was posted only week ago. The two art submissions in my scraps are also kept because I use them.
This bit is important too: In addition to the other moves, from now on All of my arrangements will be in scraps because it's really not what I do anymore.
So there you have it. All of this will be done probably on Monday or so. I'll make the same offer I made last year. That is, if you guys wish to favorite any of these pieces to keep them in my gallery, I will keep them if they make it to the specified amount. Also this may be your last chance to download some of these pieces. Many of these pieces really are good (especially the ones I commented on in parentheses) so if you haven't given them a listen, I'd recommend it.
Here's to a great year guys! Thanks for all your support ^^

New album: How It's Done release (also Rainfurrest)
General | Posted 14 years agoOye! You there! I've just released my second album, How It's Done. This one is all piano music. You can check it out here: https://www.andyhendrickson.bandcamp.com
You can listen to and pre-order my album there. It'll be available for download starting September 1st, and I'll start shipping out physical copies September 10th. For the most part everything is as free as you'd like it to be (not to mention you can download most of the tracks here) because as a questionably legal music downloader myself, I think music ought to be free to everyone. Therefore, I'll not be hypocritical and only allow those who pay for my music to enjoy it. However, if you'd like to support me as an artist, you may purchase a physical copy of my album, or you may name your own price on a digital copy of any of the tracks or the album as a whole.
But wait, there's more! You want a physical copy do you? Well you furries are so cool I'll sell it to you cheaper than anyone else. You can enter "dragon" (no quotes) as a discount code for 30% off. Man that sounds cheesy... Anyway, here's the tracklist:
1. Sonata No. 2 in b flat minor, mvt. 1 - Allegro 08:52
2. Sonata No. 2 in b flat minor, mvt. 2 - Adagio 05:48
3. Sonata No. 2 in b flat minor, mvt. 3 - Rondo con Fuoco 06:54
4. Etude in a minor "Complex" 03:04
5. Changing Modes for two pianos 04:00
6. Sonata No. 3 in d minor, mvt. 1 - Allegro 06:51
7. Sonata No. 3 in d minor, mvt. 2 - Lament 05:08
8. Sonata No. 3 in d minor, mvt. 3 - Vivaci Furioso 04:42
9. Nocturne in g minor 05:39
10. Fugue in e minor for two pianos 05:29
11. Sonata No. 4 in g# minor, mvt. 1 - Andante - Allegro 08:20
12. Sonata no. 4 in g# minor, mvt. 2 - Adagio 06:23
13. Sonata No. 4 in g# minor, mvt. 3 - Presto con Bravura 06:43
So that's pretty awesome ^^. You also get a glimpse of how I look irl on the album cover there (in a dashing suit, no less). Speaking of irl, I'll be at Rainfurrest this year! Well, I've been at RF the last 3 years actually, but this time I'm going to get me a table in artist alley. The plan is to get on Friday, but if not then certainly Saturday. I'll be selling CD's (or at least trying to, dunno how much success I'll have). I'll even sign one for you if you'd like :3. Anyway, at the very least it'd be cool to meet some of you, so feel free to stop by.
Thank you all for your support! I'd never have gone anywhere with my music if it weren't for you guys <3

Albums have shipped, and with cheaper shipping!
General | Posted 14 years agoThose of you who have ordered albums, I've shipped them. I think they came out well considering I had to do all the printing and stuff myself, with the help of a family member who does this sort of stuff. Anyway, I have good news! No one bothered to tell me I was shipping it the wrong way, and I have corrected the error, and saved a ton of money on shipping! So, those of you who already ordered, I've refunded the difference. For those of you who haven't (especially you international types), I now have much more friendly shipping rates!
Unfortunately I'm likely not going to be able to post any more music to FA this month. Have to wait before I can post more Astral stuff, and with all the album work I haven't had time to compose anything else. However I want to let you all know that I have another album coming. I hope to get that all formalized within the next week. Cheers ^^

Bit of a change to my album
General | Posted 14 years agoHi there! I've decided to take Changing Modes, Invention, and Harpsichord Lunacy off the album because they don't really fit with the rest of the tracks and I want to release them on my next albums anyway. I'll be throwing a new track on there though, Curiosity, which you can go check out in a bit if you'd like (that is, as soon as my internet stops being awful and lets me upload it); I'll post it here on Monday.
I'm working hard to be ready to ship these out by the 15th for you guys, and there oughtn't be any delay. Also, there's quite a number of you by my reckoning that promised me an order, but haven't. Get to it! Don't worry, your money will go toward getting me more dragon plushies =P
Remember, you can access my album here: https://www.andyhendrickson.bandcamp.com and if you enter "dragon" as a discount you get a few bucks off.
And so you have something to look forward to, I've completed Astral's first final boss theme, and I'll be posting that in a bit. I've also got a special track from Astral coming that was performed live by some of my friends and me. Cheers ^^

You know, I'd never be releasing an album if it weren't for you guys. So thank you very much ^^
You can listen to and pre-order my album there. It'll be available for download starting June 1st, and I'll start shipping out physical copies June 15th.
1. 17 Eight 05:06
2. Very Bassy 02:31
3. Blinded by Darkness 03:49
4. Clash Through! 02:46
5. Across the Starry Plains 04:46
6. Decisive Encounter 03:09
7. The Will to Survive 03:20
8. Double Caret 02:05

Astral (and stuff)
General | Posted 14 years agoSo I suppose it's about time I actually formalize all of this into a journal.
calvinwolf has commissioned me to write the soundtrack for his game, Astral. This will involve many more tracks (the best are yet to come) and will be more or less the only thing I'll be posting over the next months, and for you classical guys I promise I'll get some of that stuff in when I can. Anyway, he's requested that I link you to his youtube page where he's posting the finished tracks: http://www.youtube.com/user/Calvino...../0/C8P56RF0fAQ
Currently he has a new track up that won't be posted here until Monday, so you might want to check that out too =)
In other news, I've been continuing to work on getting some CD's of my music made. I've got most of the tracks ready, and am currently working on commissioning an artist for the album cover art. Likely I'll have it released on Bandcamp as soon as that's all done, so perhaps by this summer? Look forward to it. The astral soundtrack will be released too when the game is released.
Finally, I'm not quite there yet, but since I've gone and decided to write a journal anyway, I'm just about to hit 1000 favorites ^^. Thanks guys for all your support. Honestly being here on FA has been a huge inspiration for me. Many times I find myself writing pieces just for you guys, so keep it up with the awesome comments and I'll see if I can revolutionize music in the mean time :3

You may have noticed I've not posted anything in a while
General | Posted 15 years agoCollege is really rough this quarter, and the fact that I'm being forced to learn Species counterpoint (which if you didn't know is like taking the most simple music you can think of, and making it more simple. With all the rules you have to restrict you, it's more like playing musical sudoku.) in music theory isn't helping matters. Point is, I'll write when I find the inspiration and time for it, and I'm sorry that I'm not able to make stuff at the same rate as I used to. I'll do my best to get something new up within a week though. Wish me luck, and thanks for liking my stuff :3
CD's
General | Posted 15 years agoit's 1/1/11 ^^.
Anyway, I've decided to make some albums. There's going to be one of my video game-ish stuff, one of my classical stuff, and of course eventually the video game soundtrack I'm composing http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5019922/
Thing is though, on those first two albums, I would like some input from you guys as to what you would want on them. I'll have to see about coming up with some bonus tracks or something that you can't find online, otherwise what's the point of buying the albums right? Anyway, let me know what you think. The vgm album will be one cd, and the classical album two cd's (due to the length of classical pieces).
Also I'm looking for a website that I can sell these things off of. Was going to look into Bandcamp, but if anyone else has any other suggestions, let me know. Also thanks all of you for liking my music, especially those who provide me with such wonderful comments. It means a lot to me, and may you all have a good year :3

New VGM remix site
General | Posted 15 years agoGreetings there fellow composers. I've recently been invited to a new site for video game remixes, much to the tune of ocremix only without all of the really annoying stuff that goes along with it (After taking 4 months to decide, they wouldn't take a single arrangement of mine). Anyway, this site is really at its beginnings, but I've decided to support it by joining. Given that it's just starting, I'll point out it doesn't yet have all the full functionality you might expect from such a site, but those things would certainly come over time. If you arrange video game music too and want to get your name out there, you ought to join too.
Here's the url: http://www.gamersoundtracks.com/
I hope it turns out well...
Oh and while I'm here, yay for 1500 pageviews and 900 favorites!

Time for an absurdly large once a year journal!
General | Posted 15 years agoHey guys. This day, October 4th, is my 20th birthday ^^. I spent my last day as a teenager yesterday playing all the way through Chrono Trigger from start to finish. But anyway, the reason for the journal, is in a couple days I will have been here for a whole year. I have 110 submissions, and that can be quite a lot for someone just now discovering my material, so I'd like to clean it up. First, some statistics:
Compositions: 60
Composition Favorites: 370
Avg. fav/sub: 6.17
Arrangements: 38
Arrangement Favorites: 387
Avg. fav/sub: 10.18
Total (plus other types of submissions): 828
So basically what I'm doing then, based on how much you guys like my pieces of music, is I will be deleting many of my less popular ones so that new listeners don't have so much to wade through. So the way it will go then is that any composition with 6 or more favorites will be kept. With 5, it'll be moved into scraps, and anything with 3 or less will be deleted. Similarly with arrangements, Any piece with 10 or more favorites will be kept, and those with only 8 or 9 favorites will be in scraps, and the rest will be deleted.
Here are a list of submissions affected by this:
Composition removals:
Sonata-Allegro for Band (8 bit version) (4)
Nocturne in g minor for 4 hands (4)
Prelude and Fugue in C sharp minor (4)
The Will to Survive (3)
The Aftermath (4)

Augments (1)
Spud's Unimaginitively Named Fugue in C minor (0)
Compositions moving to scraps:
Nocturne in D minor for Handbell Choir
If I Was in a Rock Band...
Notes: My first piano sonata should be removed under this rule and 17 Eight moved to scraps. Due to how much they mean to me personally however, I have opted to keep them in their proper places, but will remove their Featured Submission thumbnail.
Arrangement removals:
Secret of Mana - Danger piano arrangement (7)

Kefka's Tocatta and Fugue in a minor (9)
Final Fantasy 8 - The Extreme piano arrangement (9)
Notes: Kalvekian's Piano Ditty I can't decide whether it's an arrangement or composition, so I'm just going to move it to scraps and call it good.
Other submissions to be affected:
Name That Tune will be deleted
All current Live Performances will be moved to scraps
All pictures except my profile icon will be removed
Now then! My 1 year anniversary to this site is on 10/6. So I will hold off on taking these actions until then. The reason is that I'd like to (if you so desire) give you a chance to download these pieces as your last opportunity, or (totally not a ploy to get more favorites) to favorite these pieces up to their lower limit if you really want them to stay. Keep in mind that most of these pieces weren't popular because they were submitted back when I had no watchers.
It's been a great year guys, thanks a bunch for supporting me ^^. I'm gonna try to make up some CD's sometime in the next year, just in case you feel like contributing to my mountain dew budget, and I might just have a dealer's table at next year's Rainfurrest :3
Gotta go submit a new battle theme now. See ya *screes excitingly*
